6533 motherboard

Hi Guys I`m a complete newb, but would love some help.
I`m thinking of buying, a new pc,
Its a pentium 4, 3.06ghz, SIS 645 chipset on a MSI 6533 motherboard, 2700 DDR ram.
But when I downloaded the motherboard manual, it says
Supports 1.5GHz, 1.6GHz, 1.7GHz, 1.8GHz, 1.9GHz, 2GHz and up.
How do I know how far up, because when I check the cpu support I get
Pentium 4 Willamette 1.4G 400 14 OK
Pentium 4 Willamette 1.5G 400 15 OK
Pentium 4 Willamette 1.6G 400 16 OK
Pentium 4 Willamette 1.7G 400 17 OK
Pentium 4 Willamette 1.8G 400 18 OK
Pentium 4 Willamette 1.9G 400 19 OK
Pentium 4 Willamette 2.0G 400 20 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 1.5G 400 15 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 1.6G 400 16 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 1.7G 400 17 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 1.8G 400 18 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 1.9G 400 19 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.0G 400 20 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.1G 400 21 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.2G 400 22 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.4G 400 24 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.5G 400 25 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.6G 400 26 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.26G 533 17 NO
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.4G 533 18 NO
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.53G 533 19 NO
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.66G 533 20 NO
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.8G 533 21 NO
Pentium 4 Northwood 3.06G 533 23 NO
why does it say no for everything above 2.6ghz, and no for all the 533 speed chips, is this because its a northwood chip in the test, or would you assume its not meant to support a 3.06ghz/533 speed, pentium 4 chip?
The pc store selling them said they have sold heaps, so I`m wondering if
1: they are pushing the motherboard beyond its limits
2: there is a bios update that enables it
3: or the info in the MSI CPU support has not been updated?
would appreciate any suggestions.

  • Ms-6533 motherboard; AGP 4x upgrade to graphics card?

MS-6533 motherboard; AGP 4x fitted with GeForce MX420 card at the moment. What's the best graphics card this mobo will take? preferably one without a fan.

An Nvidia 6600-series video card is a low-power card, does not require additional power input from a PSU molex.  It won't draw more than 4 amps off your 12V rail.
The 6800-series are a bit more varied.  The straight 6800 also does not require additional power input from a PSU molex, but the 6800GTs and 6800Ultras do, and they draw 7 amps off your 12V rail under load.
But since you will be running AGP 4x anyway, your vid cards won't draw anywhere near peak.  Old AGP-4x systems seldom need more than 300W PSUs unless you are running multiple RAID-5 HDD arrays.
I would check this article first on determining how much PSU power you really need before you waste money on a 600-watt unit:  http://www.silentpcreview.com/article28-page4.html
    Hope this helps.

  • MS-6533 and direct3d problem

I just replaced my MS-6533 motherboard. Now all my games complain that I do not have a 3D capable video card.
The defective board I replaced (same model) had no video problems (before it died anyway). All games worked with the built in SIS video and with my GeForce2 AGP card.
I have gone through all the BIOS settings, updated the BIOS (v1.4), updated all the drivers, reinstalled Windows 98, reinstalled the games, updated the drivers again... Still, it does not recognize the built-in video nor my GeForce2 card as 3D capable (which it is).
Does anyone know what could be causing this? I have waisted so much time on this motherboard. I'm ready to toss it...
    Thanks
    BinaryBo

    That was it !!!!
I don't know why that setting would have changed, but its working now. Not a motherboard problem at all.
Thanks for your help. My kids will be very happy...
    Many, many thanks,

  • USB HD on 6533E Motherboard

    Hi,
I've got a new MS-6533E Motherboard which supposedly
    supports USB2.
I've got an external USB2 harddisk. The board does not
seem to recognise the drive when plugged in.
It works on other machines, and other USB devices work
    on the 6533 Motherboard.
Does anybody have a solution for this?
    cheers
    marius

sorry for my ignorance, but why intel drivers?
The board has a SiS chipset (651).

  • Onboard video for MS-6533

Hey guys, I installed the MS-6533 motherboard in a mini-tower, with 512mb ddr ram, 1.9ghz cpu, 60gb 7200 rpm hdd, and probably other stuff im forgetting.  Anyway I know its a 3d on board vga but does anyone know the specs of it.  I mean my client tried to play a game (battlefield 1942). and it says his video card doesn't meet the minimum requirements.  Im assuming its because the game requires 32mb video card.  But I cannot find anywhere the size of the onboard graphics. I've also seen on some boards you can use system ram to beef up the mb on the onboard graphics, can that be done with this board? I dont want to tell him he needs a new graphics card if he doesn't really need one.
    thanks in advance

Your Onboard VGA is mainly only comparable to a 32MB TNT2 Riva VGA card only and if use it to play any DX8 games, you'll definately suffers bottlenecks, studding and sluggish images during gamplay and for games like UT2003, Battlefield 1942, WarCraft 3 or even C&C Generals, your onboard VGA will not be up to theirs standards of requirements due to graphics rendering speed.
I've also understand that the your mobo does support one 4x VGA support, so if you're really keen to play games on your barebone system, you can throw in a GF4 MX440 card to it and you'll see the difference in support. Remember to disabled you onboard VGA if you put in an VGA card, else there'll be Video conflicts.
    All the Best... :D!!!

     Verifying DMI Data Pool
I have a ms-6533 motherboard (barebone system) and when i try to boot up the system using windows/me & maxtor harddrive, the systems hangs at "verifying dmi data pool ".
    Please help :]
    There's not a lot of info to work with here. But here goes;
First I would recomend opening the case and checking that all cables are where they belong (check the Manual) and that they are well seated. You might want to remove then replace each end of each cable (one at a time) while you're there.
You might also turn on the power and check if all the fans are running and if the hard drive spins up.
     Try booting up.
Secondly, try reseating the Memory and CPU. (again, check the manual)
     Try booting up.
     Third, clear the CMOS (manual)
     Try booting up.
Fourth, turn on the power, hold down the 'Delete' key to enter the BIOS, go to 'Load Fail Safe Defaults'. At this point your system should ask you  if you are shure you want to do this. Click 'yes'. Hit 'F10' to save your change then eigther the 'y' or 'Enter' key depending on your bios.
System should reboot on its own at this point.
You can download your manual at: http://download.msi.com.tw/support/mnu_exe/mbd_mnu/E6533v1.0.exe
     Hope this helps.

  • MS-6533 Intel P4 Motherboard

    Hi Guys
I need some help with information on the MS-6533 Intel P4 motherboard that is installed in my son's Medion Brand Computer.
Ok, I want to upgrade the graphics card for the computer but I'm not sure if the board supports 3.3v or 1.5v cards graphics cards.  The card I'm thinking of buying is the ATI RADEON 9550 256DDR AGP which I think is an AGP v3.0 card and supports 8x/4x @ 0.8v (AGP 3.0) or 4x @ 1.5v (and 3.3v is not supported), so I will give you all of the information that I can and hope that you can help me out here?
Board details:  The computer brand is MEDION
MS-6533 v1.0 (as shown on the board underneath the AGP slot)
BIOS Version:  MSI-6533M7 v1.17 08/06/02 11:06:00 MEDIONPC (as shown on POST screen)
When I ran CPU-Z v1.30, the following info is shown:
    Mainboard and chipset:
Motherboard manufacturer: MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD
    Motherboard model: MS-6533
BIOS vendor: Award Software International, Inc.
    BIOS revision: 6.00 PG
    BIOS release date: 08/06/2002
    Chipset: SiS 645 rev. 02
    Southbridge: SiS ID0008 rev. 00
    Sensor chip: Winbond W83697HF
    Graphic Interface: AGP
    AGP Status: enabled, rev. 2.0
    AGP Data Transfer Rate: 4x
    AGP Max Rate: 4x
AGP Side Band Addressing: supported, enabled
    AGP Aperture Size: 64 MBytes
Now it states that the AGP Rev is Rev.2.0, does that mean that it supports only 3.3v or does revision 2.0 support graphics cards which need to have 0.8v or 1.5v support?
I have looked around the MSI website and found two boards with the same part number but have letters after the numbers.  The first board is the MS-6533G-040 and the 'spec' on this board states that it supports AGP 4x (1.5v only).
The other board is the MS-6533E-120 but this board just states one AGP 4x slot.
I'd really appreciate some help here and I hope that I can install the RADEON 9550 AGP card on the board he has.
If this were not possible, can we stiil buy a 3.3v graphics cards with 3.3v support for ths MS-6533 board?
    Regards
    Brave01Heart

    Hi Wonkanoby
Many thanks for replying to to post regard the MS-6533 Intel P4 Motherboard.
I guess that the answer to my question about using the ATI RADEON 9550 256DDR AGP on my son's MS-6533 mainboard is "yes" I'd appreciate it if you could give me some more information about the board and it's graphics card voltage please?
Q:  I know the MS-6533 AGP Data Transfer Rate is 4x and that if I install the 9550 which supports up to AGP 8x, it would only perform at AGP 4x on the MS-6533, but at what voltage (1.5v)?
Q:  I don't really understand your second comment:
"as it's new don't stick older 3.3v AGP x2 cards in it".  Are you saying that AGP x2 cards support 3.3v only and that the MS-6533 supports AGP 4x at 0.8v and 1.5v only?  Could you please explain what you mean?
Q:  Also, my own MS-6758 875P Neo mainboard supports 8x/4x at 0.8v (AGP 3.0) or 4x at 1.5v (and 3.3v is not supported), but what voltages, and at what speeds, does the MS-6533 support?
    Regards

  • MS-6533/G memory question

I have a MS-6533/G motherboard with a Sis650 chipset.  It has one 256MB DDR266 (PC2100) DIMM. I want to add another DIMM.  Do you know if I can use faster memory DDR333 (PC2700) or DDR400 (PC3200) memory on a motherboard which calls for DDR266?
    Thanks!

Idon't recommend mixed of RAMs for MSI mobos, if you want to run DDR333 RAMs, make sure that all are of the same type and not different ones as these are mainly the cause of stability problems or RAMs having memory dump errors.

  • Max Hard Drive capacity in MSI MS-6533?

    Hi.
I have a computer with a MS-6533 Mainboard (which is really an OEM computer with a clone Motherboard).
I want to add a new Hard Disk, but, as this Mainboard is a bit old, could I have any problems with it, as a I want to install a big Hard Drive?
    Thanks in advance.

Just make sure you have the OS that can support big drive. What's the OS you're using right now?

  • PCI DIO 32HS (6533) Suddenly giving "The device is not responding to the first IRQ level" error, and no longer functioning.

    Greetings NI folks,
I'm an oceanographer, and have an sidescan sonar data aquasition computer running Windows XP SP2, and NiDAQ 7.0 (Legacy). For several years, this machine has worked flawlessly, but today, I booted it up to test the system for an upcoming job, and I got some strange errors in our sonar program. I tranced the problem to our NI-6533 PCI-DIO-32HS card. I launched NI Automation Explorer to test that the card was responsive, and when I click the "test panel", I get an error: "The device is not responding to the first IRQ level." Continue (yes/no). If I click yes, I can test the digital i/o's, but nothing happens, and all the tests fail (nonresponsive). I tried moving the card to another PCI slot, tried forcing it to have a specific IRQ that was unused by anything else, and finally tried moving it to another computer that had never been used with the DIO card. I'm still getting the error, and the card is nonresponsive. I'm at the limit of my abilities, and would like to know if there's anything else I can do, or should we send the card back to NI for repair/diagnosis.
    Thanks.

  • How to find part number on Motherboard?

Hi all - I've got a G4 MDD dual 1g mac that I fear has a bad motherboard. I have done some preliminary research into buying a replacement board, which leads me to my question (2-parter):
    1. Can anyone tell me how to find the part number or identify the motherboard in this computer? (so I don't buy the wrong thing)
    2. Other than eBay, can someone recommend a good source for finding a replacement board?
Any info would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    G4ce,
The part number is at the end of PCI card slot 5. It will say "APPLE COMPUTER 820-nnnn 2002" (or 2003).
820-nnnn is the part number, it'll always be 820 in the first part, but the last 4 digits can be different depending on model and manufacture date. Typical values are 1308, 1440, 1445.
If you're planning to re-use your existing processors, the new board number should match exactly.
I say"If" because you may find a complete MDD or one sold without certain parts a lot easier than the exact model number board.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR Nforce2 (Socket A) Motherboard (MB-003-MS) Features NF2 chip

I tried to install 3 of the Crucial Ballistix Tracer (1 Gig Each) in this motherboard (MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR Nforce2 (Socket A) Motherboard (MB-003-MS) Features NF2 chipset) and it will not run stabilly no matter what I tried. Is this a bios conflict with the memory? If so, are there any new bios updates? I have tried cas settings and voltage settings but nothing works. It will how ever run perfectly with only 2 sticks in single channel mode. It will not run same 2 sticks in dual channel mode. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone know of any new motherboards with maybe NFORCE 4 Chipset that support all 3 sticks of this memory and an AGP graphics card? Im thinking of a new motherboard but I still need to have AGP and SATA.

System has ran fine for a solid year until I tried new memory. Please help!

Ok I tried to use relaxed FSB by -10 and relaxed mem timings but still unstable due to the motherboard trying to use dual channel memory. If you can modify the bios to where it will not have the capability of dual channel memory I truly believe it will work. Will u try this for me? I would greatly appreciate it as I am really not ready to spend all the money on new equipemtn when this suits my needs for now.
sure but as i said before this is gona be experimental and risky. Here we go:
MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR Experimental MOD E1(Disable Dual CH ability)
Procedure is automated in best possible safest way to BIOS update.
Prepare a blank diskette in a good condition(newest one etc.)
]execute file under XP will make bootdisk with automated BIOS update procedure. when diskette is ready, reboot PC and boot from FDD(floppy), wait a bit, then you will be asked for final confirmation about BIOS update process, press a key to proceed, after BIOS update is complete, ensure that you got successfully output message from flash program. then power down your PC, remove power cord from the PSU, hit power button several time to drain caps electrify, touch with hands some metal for ES discharge, and Clear CMOS.
pull back power cord, power up your PC, when you see CMOS checksum error,(expected msg) hit F1 to continue to re-build DMI pool data, then reboot and enter in BIOS, LOAD BIOS DEFAULT, and SAFE AND EXIT.
NOTE: Ensure your PC is stable before proceed with BIOS update.
NOTE: Use it at own risk, chance of failure is big, cannot guarantee results and safest as provisional mode which can guarantee it will work stable with features. also cannot test it personally before give you. (don't have mobo anymore)
Using it may end with dead mainboard (BIOS chip re-flash will be required, if somethink goes wrong)

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR - Noisy Grinding Motherboard Fan

    Hi,
The Motherboard Fan on my MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR has started to make a terrible grinding noise and I was hoping someone could offer some help on how to replace it.
Some of the questions I have are -
+ Is the Motherboard Fan screwed on or glued on?
+ Could I replace it with a suitable heatsink (no fan)?*
+ If it is glued on, what is the best way to remove it?
+ If it is glued on, could I just unplug it and stick a new fan on top of the existing one?
+ Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do to fix it?
    * I was looking at a Zalman Motherboard Heatsink from http://www.quietpc.com/uk/vgamb.php
    Thanks in advance, Jason.

CPU and GPU info on CPU-Z and GPU-Z applications:
    3DMark Fire Strike score: 6441
3DMark Fire Strike Extreme score: 3384
    3DMark Fire Strike Ultra score:1262
The excel performance proof the brand new 960 graphics card comes with good a high Cost/Performance Value.
Now, check out this test benchmark score of the renowned game “The Crew”.
The game presents an ultra-quality display, 60 Frames Per Second (FPS)
    FPS: Average frames is at:
    Frames: 3859 - Time: 76828ms - Avg: 50.229 - Min: 43 - Max: 56
The comments of the game for your reference:
There are many types of missions that can be chosen from the America’s map.
Street racing, high-speed collision, breakaway from police, sky jumps, zigzagging, etc… make the game quite dynamic.
Now, when it comes to multi-player matches, the performance has exceeded expectations. Perhaps, it is the killer Ethernet that’s working the magic. Thus, this game is highly recommended if you have the right rig.
The downside is that the display intricacy is not as refined as GTA V and in addition, the game FPS is limited at 60 FPS. However, the overall gaming flow and performance is better than good.
The user's comment for using MSI Gaming 5 motherboard and 960 graphics card:
(The following commends are translated from user’s article, does not represent the viewpoint of MSI) ^^
Recently, MSI GTX 960 just launched so the initial price tag is still adjustable.
According to the current product line, it seems like this GPU is going to replace 750Ti. So once all the stocks (750Ti) at the store empties, we are most likely to see a price drop on GTX960.
Once the price hits the sweet spot, it’s time to try out GTX960 SLI’s performance.
The CP value on MSI GTX960 and GAMING 5 MB is pretty high. But the XSplit software that comes with the product is a bit annoying since the authentication steps are divided into 2 parts to go through for using it.
    Enough said, anyways, GAME ON!

NVIDIA 960 card  + GAMING 5 motherboard = best bundle for budget gaming!
it would be nice to see more testing of hardware-demanding games!
