6610, DKU-5 and WIN XP Pro/SP2 - modem in use erro...

Toshiba Satellite A100, first time installation of PC-Suite 6.81.13.0
First question - The connection between my laptop and phone is found by Nokia Connection Manager under 'Serial Cable' on com4. Is this a problem given the connection is by USB?
Second - OTA finds com4 but comes up with "Error code 633: the modem is already in use or is not configured properly".
What do I need to look at to resolve this problem?
Cliffo from Australia

YOu don't need to use the get connected wizard everytime you connect, only once, after the first connection you are automatically connected when you connect the cable.
(in fact, you really don't need to use the get connected wizard with cable even in the first connection, because windows will pick up the phone via the cable and install the necessary drivers anyhow, the wizard is there just to help first time users to find the way how to handle the connection.
(just a note, with Bluetooth you need to make the connection between phone and PC Suite once with get Connected Wizard, but not after that even with Bluetooth)
Anyways, if you have a uncertain outcome each time you connect you:
- most likely have a non-Nokia cable that is bad quality, there are plenty to duff cable out there "in ebays"
- or the mechanical connection between the phone and cable is uncertain

  • PC54G and MP54G2 in Win XP Pro SP2

Hello, and thank you for reading my thread.
I've got a MSI Mega 180 with a integrated MP54G2. In can see the Ethernet-Card in the "Device Manager", but it won't work. I've tried with the driver that comes along with the original package, and the newest that MSI offers on the web-sites. The files that can be downloaded, seems to be se same for PC54G and MP54G2; "MSI_WLAN_Software4.1.16.26.zip". I can't get this driver to work for the MP54G2 nor the PC54G. The reason why I'm talking about the PC54G is that I had that card from another PC, but the result when I install it into the Barebone is the same. Is there a known problem with this driver in SP2?

I tried it on a P4 3.2 ghz, ATI Radeon 9600 128 megs, Gigabyte Motherboard (don't remember wich one), over 256 megs DDR, 160 gigs hdd.  The second one was a Athlon XP 2200+, Ati Radeon 9250 128 megs, Gigabyte Motherboard GA-7VKMP, 80 gigs hdd, 512 megs DDR.  The third one is a P3 866, Ati rage Pro, Intel motherboard, 384 megs SDram, 40 gigs hdd.  They're all new installed win xp pro SP2 computers (after updates everywhere ex:graphic cards, windows etc...)  Really confused !!!  Tried in different PCI slots.  Do you think it's a card or chips (physically) problem, at your advice ?  I'm not at my first computer installation, and it's the first time I see this problem.  I'm in computers since 6 years and never seen that before.  Help me please...........

  • Problem installing Win XP Pro SP2 on 2008 Mac Pro running 10.6.8

Okay, I have never setup or ran a bootcamp partition so I apologize in advance for my ignorance on the subject. I have been attempting to install win xp pro (SP2). I am using the Boot Camp Assistant  v3.0.4. I have created a 32GB FAT32 partition and at the point I click Continue Installation (with the XP Pro disc in the drive) the computer reboots to supposedly install.
What happens instead is I get a revolving censorship/ban circle icon, folder with question mark and apple logo. It just continuously will flash between those 3 icons until I restart.
    Here's what I've tried...
-removing all other drives. I'm attempting to install on the boot drive which is in bay 1.
-removed all external devices only things plugged in are my usb keyboard and DVI monitor
    -deleting and recreating the partition
-I have the xp pro cd in the top drive and the snow leopard cd in the bottom drive (both internal cd/dvd drives)
    Computer:
      Model Name:          Mac Pro
      Model Identifier:          MacPro2,1
      Processor Name:          Quad-Core Intel Xeon
      Processor Speed:          3 GHz
      Number Of Processors:          2
      Total Number Of Cores:          8
L2 Cache (per processor):          8 MB
      Memory:          10 GB
      Bus Speed:          1.33 GHz
      Boot ROM Version:          MP21.007F.B06
      SMC Version (system):          1.15f3
No matter what I try I am met with the same results. I have held down the option key and manually selected the windows xp cd. It seems to be booting but immediately turns off my DVI monitor which, well, makes it impossible for me to actually know what is happening. I do have a nvidia GeForce 8800 which only has two DVI ports off the back. I do have the adapter and an old VGA monitor I could pull out of the attic but would rather not unless that is my only option. Can someone in the community please point me in the right direction?
    Many, many, many thanks!
    Curtis
    OKC, OK

Update: my problem was solved by getting my VGA monitor out of the attic. Once windows was done and I ran the setup.exe off the Snow Leopard CD, all of the drivers were updated to allow me to switch back over to my apple cinema display.
Also, I did need to hold down the option key to select the windows CD to install...and again to select the windows partition to boot but so far everything is going well with Bootcamp 3.0.4 and XP SP2...other than it is windows.

  • URGENT Cannot install Ora9i rel 2 Client on Win XP Pro SP2

    Hi folks:
I have a problem installing Oracle 9i in a "clean" machine with Win XP Pro SP2 with .NET 1.1 running on a P4@3GHz and 512MBytes of RAM and 30GBytes of HD free, when I start de UOI only appear de Oracle's splash screen and when I select install/Deinstall products, nothing happens (in the administrator task appear not response and close automatically).
I read a lot of solutions about this here, always the same result, NOTHING.
    - I rename symcjit.dll to symcjit.old (of course i copied the installation CD at the oracle subdirectory to avoid long directory paths)
    - Install a JDK 1.3 and 1.4 (and deinstall them after and clean the registry)
    - I login on windows with a user name without rare characters.
After trying all above and more that I've forgotten I try install a older version (8.1.7) but appear this message.
"There was a problem opening the staging area. Please make sure the 'Source' you have specified is valid"
of course the source is valid (products.jar) and I edited the oraparam.ini file to change the relative paths to absolute, but the same message appear.
¿I'm doing something wrong?¿incompatibilites between Oracle and Windows?
Thanks for any help, I need to resolve this problem ASAP!

Could it be a firewall blocking a port that Oracle needs?
Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Windows XP turns on the firewall by default.
Unless, there is a conflict somewhere with the installation program and what you already have installed. Such as, do you have a version of some Oracle software already installed?
Could it be a conflict with the Java runtime? The Oracle Universal Installer uses its own Java VM.
Have you tried downloading the latest client software for Oracle 9.2 and trying that?

  • WRT350N + WMP300N = BSOD Crash on Win XP Pro SP2?

Yes, the problem I am having is that with WRT350N + Wireless + WMP300N = BSOD Crash on Win XP Pro SP2.   Really, from what I can tell, WRT350N + Wireless = BSOD Crash on Win XP Pro SP2.   Yes, I know, a router shouldn't be able to crash a computer, PC drivers, PC misconfigurations do.
However, my crashes didn't start happening until I switched to my WRT350N wireless router.  Actually, at that time I didn't even have the linksys WMP300N ... it was another wireless card.  Now I have the linksys WMP300N, and the crashes still happen.
I updated my driver on my NIC to the latest version two days ago, and at the same time upgraded the firmware on the router to the latest and greatest.  You know what that did?  Instead of crashing my PC once every day or so I get crashes about 5 mins after I start my PC.
I've tried using the linksys wireless configuration utility, and the Windows zero configuration, still crashes.  I've tried Wireless Mixed bode, BG mixed, G only, still crashes.   Different channels, still crashes.   I disabled Symantec Client Security firewall, still crashes.  Uninstalled SCS and used windows firewall, still crashes.   Disabled netbios and dynamic DNS registration on my adapter, still crashes.   Disabled wireless QoS on PC and router, still crashes.  Tried disabling and enabling (individually) Wireless AP isolation, frame burst, CTS Protection mode,  forced 54mbps rate ... still crashes.  I have no HD attached to the router.  I've disabled UPnP on the router, still crashes.
You know what does fix the crashes?  Disabling my wireless adapter.  You know what else fixes the crashes?   Connecting to a different wireless router.
I'm completely baffled.  Any ideas what I can try?  I'm an IT Consultant by trade, and have been working with PCs and networking in a professional capacity for over 8 years, so I have a decent amount of troubleshooting experience.   The BSOD doesn't say much, just equates to a hardware/driver fault ... but no indication what.   My crash dump analysis (full, not just minidump) also provides no data as to what driver).
Thoughts?  As much as I hated my former Netgear, I'm about ready to even go back to that....
Edit:  My PC is using DHCP, configured as a reserved address.

Hello, hopefully I can help you. Some things that resolved my issue were disabling some options in the advanced properties of my NIC (WMP300N) Even if you don't have the same NIC, you should probably have some similar options:
-Manage Wireless Settings = Disabled (note: I disabled this since I'm using Windows to manage the settings)
    -Mixed Cell Support = Disabled
    -Minimum Power Consumption = Disabled
    -Power Save Mode = Disabled
    -Wake Up Capabilities = None
    -Bluetooth Collaboration = Disabled
    -40MHz Intolerant = Disabled
Try disabling those things, and go from there ... good luck . With those settings, I haven't crashed in several months now. I don't know which setting it was fixed it, I haven't been brave enough to go playing with it again ... if it ain't broke, don't fix it, lol.

  • Running Dual boot windows 8 and win 7 pro with xp mode installed!! I love it!!

It took over 2 days to figure out how to adjust the bios to get my win 7 pro DVD to boot and install dual boot on this GREAT MACHINE!!
Step 1: using diskmgmt.msc you have to shring the C partition. I shrunk it so I had 80GB remaining as unallocated space.
Step 2: You have to enter the machine Bios adn set the BIOS to Both and UEFI as first
Step 3: Connect your usb dvd
Step 4: Put your win 7 pro dvd in the usb dvd drive
Step 5: Reboot your machine and when it starts press F12 to get the boot menu and select the usb dvd drive then press enter
    The machine restarts
Message on screen says press a key to boot from cd/dvd
Press space and it boots up the win 7 pro DVD
After files copy and load the setup screen asks to accept the agreement and where to install win 7
BE SURE TO SELECT THE 80GB location
Then follow thru the win 7 prompts to load it.
When the machine restarts you will see a dual boot screen with Windows 7 on top as first selection and Windows 8 below it as 2nd selection.
Make sure to hit enter with windows 7 selected
    The win 7 installation completes.
You will see many items with drivers not installed dont fret.
You can load most of the drivers by highlighting the device in control panel/device manager and pick update driver then select BROWSE for DRIVER and be sure to put in drive D:\ which is now the windows 8 drive and hit search.
Many of the windows 8 drivers installed with no issue.
The Realtek driver was an exception .. goto to the lenovo site and pick the x100e tablet and download the LAN driver from there  about (4MB). Copy it to flash drive and install it in win 7 from the .exe file. The driver for LAN will install sucessfully. The version of the driver is 7.46 something the 7.11 versions do not workl.
I have only 3 drivers that I could not find - 2 list as unknown and are related to ACPI or power management and 1 lists as USB controller but all the USB stuff works without it.
Be sure to either shutdown the system or sign out of win 8 when your done so you get the dual boot menu. If you shutdown while logged into win 8 the next time you start up it will go right to win 8 until you signout and restart.
Just to let you know an easy way to shutdown is go to the desktop and press ALT + FN + F4 and a shutdown menu comes up on the desktop.
Once win 7 pro is installed you can download the XP mode free from Microsoft and install it.
This is of course AFTER you have ACTIVATED WINDOWS 7 ONLINE with YOUR ACTIVATION KEY(you supply).
ENJOY! This is the BEST machine I ever had!

It's been many, many years since I don't do dual boot anymore. Don't find the reason to do it, either. Different kinds of virtualization should be enough. Anyway...

  • IPod, iTunes, and Windows XP Pro SP2

I recently upgraded my computer from running Windows XP Pro (no service packs installed) to running Windows XP Pro SP1a, and now SP2.
While running SP1a, I connected my iPod (5th Generation video, 30GB model) to my computer, but it didn't appear in My Computer, nor iTunes. It was recognized by Windows, as noted by the "Safely Remove Hardware" option, as well as my normal "
"HI-SPEED in non-HI-SPEED" warning (my computer is running USB 1.1). I've also tried all four ports, and all four gave me the same response.
I tried connecting it again once I installed SP2, and again, same problems arose. I began trying to troubleshoot it by doing the Right Click on My Computer -> Manage -> Start/Stop iPod Service thing, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, repairing iTunes, using the CD I got with my iPod... nothing worked, and it's still only be recognized but basically unusuable.
The iPod displays the "Do Not Disconnect" message, and shows signs of being charged, so I know it can't be anything wrong with the connection. I've also connected it to my school laptop (running XP Pro SP2, USB 2.0 connection) and it worked perfectly fine, showed up in My Computer and everything.
I've even run iTunes, gone to Help menu -> Run Diagnostics -> iPod Diagnostics, and 3 of the 4 "lights" are green; the last one, "iPod Connection Status" is red. And that, of course, tells me nothing about why my iPod won't be recognized otherwise.
I've come to the conclusion that, under SP2, you can't use USB 1.1 but that makes absolutely no sense at all... could anyone help me out and give me any ideas as to whether or not that is true, or else what might be causing the problem?
    Thanks so much in advance!

Just tossing in my experience quickly:
Ever since I "upgraded" to v7 of iTunes, my iPod (60G w/Video) hasn't been recognized, same as Rebecca. Also my TransFlash memory cards aren't recognized, either. I went through many steps listed in these forums, to no avail; I even did a repair install of Windows. I have noticed in my Device Manager the following: a yellow exclamation point beside "parport" and "serial". (Right-click "My Computer" > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices) For both of these entries, under their properties, it says this: "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)" I haven't found much info surfing the net as of yet... I hope this info helps a bit. Don't mean to hijack, here, either. But in my opinion the new iTunes upgrade corrupts the windows registry somehow, as this story of mine seems to be quite prevalent...

  • Problems connecting - 9i and Win XP Pro

First off, I am a super duper beginner so I understand nothing of this application. I have Win XP Pro and have learned that 8i has issues with P4's so downloaded 9i instead of using the 8i CD I have. I also have the CD for Forms and Reports 6i also. My reason for the installation is a database programming class I am taking. At the current time I have 9i installed and I also installed 6i though am unsure if 9i will work with 6i. I tried to connect to SQL Plus using the username, pw, and hostname my professor gave me and I got an error msg saying "ORA-12541 TNS:no listener" BUT when I check the listener control thing and tell it to start the listener I get an error because it says it has already started and if i stop it and then start it again I still get the same message. I am able to log on to SQL using the generic username and password "Scott" and "tiger" with no hostname but I am unsure if this means anything as I know my info is correct. I am wondering if anyone can help me out. I no nothing about this application to be able to troubleshoot further and also am wondering if 9i will work with 6i. Thanks for reading this far and thanks in advance for any assistance. I think I have installed this app 3 times now and would love to get it all working properly so I can do my assignments....
    Jo-Anne

Thanks for the reply. He gave us each our own usernames, our own passwords and the hostname to connect to the school. The school dns or ip address, either one, is not his it is the school's oracle server. I used my username and password and it gave me the listener error. In order for me to work from home I have to connect to the school's oracle server, i can't leave it blank. Does that make sense? Thanks again.

    El Sheepo,
I've seen your October post pointed to about 100 times on these forums but no one ever comes back and says if your instructions work or not. I have on problem with them. I am the sole user of this PC and am always logged on as the administrator. I do not have an administrator pw setup and would prefer not to since I'll have to enter it everytime I reboot. When I follow your instructions and select to run your commands as administrator, xp asks me for a pw and will not execute correctly without it. I'm using XP 64 Pro sp2. Any ideas?

  • K9N6PGM2-V, Win XP Pro/SP2, USB only works at USB-1 speed

Apologies is this is on an FAQ somewhere -- I did look, but didn't see it.  Anyway, the USB ports work fine at USB-1 speed, but not at USB 2.0 speed.  In fact,  MS XP reports that there are no USB 2.0 devices available.  Kinda frustrating, since the MSI manual specifically mentions USB 2.0 pin headers for this motherboard.
The PC (see signature) is built from scratch.  At this point, the only software that is on it is XP Pro, SP2, and downloaded MSI drivers, and the only hardware added is the Intel Ethernet card.  I installed the full package of drivers from this web page:
    http://global.msi.eu/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1472
Specifically, I downloaded the full set ("NVIDIA_MCP61_SYSTEM_MB.zip") and installed everything except "forceware network access manager.".
One other note -- When I installed the motherboard, I connected the front panel USB connectors to the motherboard's JUSB1 connector (should I have hooked it to JUSB2?) ... however, the same behavior (USB1 speed only) happens with the built-in connectors (next to keyboard/mouse input, etc.)
    Can anyone help?  Thanks.

    Sure:

I don't recall any difficulty at all in installing it- it's essentially an automatic install. The caveat, on the download page above, is to use it with J2SE v1.3.1_02 or v1.4.

  • Satellite A30, Win XP Pro SP3 - modem won't work

Another issue with this A30 Satellite notebook
The built in modem doesn't work.
    *Explanation:*
The driver is correct and downloaded from the Toshiba support site.
The modem is identified as 'Toshiba software modem amr' and is setted on com3 port.
When I click on 'diagnostic' and 'ask modem' (the right labels may be different, since my is an Italian win xp, I just translated the Italian labels), a window appears saying it's impossible to open the door (port) which the modem is connected to.
I have tried to change the modem com port to different numbers but the problem is the same.
I don't know whether the modem is an actual board connected in some way to the main board or is just built on the main board. If it would be the first case, I could change it ad see. btw, the mini pci slot is already occupied by the gigabyte Wi-Fi board, so the modem must be somewhere else.
It is strange, since I did at least 2 other win xp pro installations on this machine, always downloading and installing the proper drivers, and the modem never has worked.
    Thanks
