And my iTunes sign in is also screwed up... It is underneath my friends email (the one with my backed up data on his Mac laptop) HOW DO I CHANGE THIS SO THAT I CAN DOWNLOAD APP's again...

I suspect unless he had some items in iCloud backup then they are gone.  Connecting an iPhone to a different library from that to which it was previously connected will result in the device asking if you want to erase it.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you are referring to the first generation Apple TV, then you cannot sync content which is stored on its hard drive back to iTunes.

  • TS3992 My Icloud back up shows huge amount of data stored from back up yet listed as incomplete. Unable to access data. Is data lost

My ICloud backup shows a huge amount of data stored, yet it is listed as incomplete backup. I am unable to access the backed up data. Is the data lost?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Unfortunately, if an iCloud backup is incomplete you can't access any of the data in it.  The only way to access anything in the backup is to restore the entire backup, which can't be done if it is incomplete.

    Hi Perilman,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that all of your iTunes media is on an external hard drive and you would like to move that media onto your new Windows computer hard drive. The following article has step by step instructions for this specifically. Part 5 in the External drive section is probably what is going to be most relevant to you.

  • How do I update my icloud account with my new apple id without losing all my backed up data?

I recently changed my apple id and password and I would like to know how to update my icloud account to reflect the new id.  I realize I can delete the old one and set up a new one, but the message that comes up tells me that all my backed up data will be deleted, would this delete the data and photos that are currently on my iPad?  Also, would I have to change my icloud email address?

First, there are apple IDs and their associated passwords.  You get the ID when creating a new icloud account.  You can also create an ID when setting up an iTunes store account.  You can have an icloud account and an iTunes account each using the same ID or different IDs.
So the question is, the ID that you changed...  what process did you use to change it and to which account was that ID associated with?
But.. to address your problem (you have one "old" ID for icloud that you have been using and now want to use a new ID - hence a new account), you must move your data from one account to another...
When connected to the account you want to GET data from, Go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.
When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.
After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to this new account.
Note that this only affects the "Apple data" like contacts, calendars, reminders, etc.  Many third party apps also use iCloud to store data files there.  These files may be lost in the process, unless the apps also keep the data locally on the device.
NOTE:  Photos in the photo stream (if you use it) will not transfer to the new account.  It is advised that you save the photos to a computer before performing the account switch.

  • Iphone 5 not restoring my back up data from itunes? Iphone 5 began freezing and turning off by itself after ios7 updates. How can i recover my data?

I began having problems with my iphone 5 after I updated to ios7. It began having several issues e.g. freezing, turning on and off by itself and the home button was not responding.
It is a long story because I had to talk to apple reps etc. to make a long story short; my iphone is now in recovery mode and only works when it is set as a new iphone.
Now my back up data on itunes will not back up into my iphone 5 and my iphone is still in recovery mode.
How can I restore my itunes back up data into my iphone 5?
How can I get my phone out of recovery mode?
How can I recover my potentially lost data, contacts, sms, etc.,  due to backing up my iphone and trying to fix the issues with apple reps?

  • Trouble: HD "Data Lost," DiskWarrior stumped, then a "Clean Install"

    Hello Classic Fans,
Since installing OS 9.1 on my 1998 WallStreet PowerBook on 25 April 2005, I enjoyed a PERFECT computer until 3 days ago (16 Feb. 2006) when my Mac started badly acting up.
I'll chart what happened and what I did to correct the problem in the hope it may help others. I would also appreciate feedback telling me if what I did was correct and if there's anything else I should do. Since I'm just now back up and running I'm not sure the problem is gone.
    Sequence of Events:
16 Feb: While surfing in InternetExplorer 5.1.7 the program quit then the display froze. Ran DiskWarrior (5% out) and installed fresh copy of I.E. I had not had a freeze for many moons!
17 Feb: Got "Data Lost" on HD error message twice. Ran DiskWarrior again (5% out).
Backed up recent important "Documents" stuff to CD.
(Note: From past experience I knew that the HD "Data Lost" error means certain trouble).
18 Feb: It's back! Got HD "Data Lost" right away. This time the error box kept flashing and dinging like nuts and wouldn't stop.
    Forced restart.
Flashing "Question Mark" appeared (HD can't recognize its own "System" software!)
Booted to Zip Rescue Disk with DiskWarrior on it.
DiskWarrior can't see HardDrive -- none of my normal desktop icons appear either.
    Shut down with Power Button.
Tried to start/boot to HD ("System" folder) using Power Button.
This time HD recognized its "System" folder and started normally! (How come it could normally boot this time but not last time?)
Restarted to the Boot Rescue Zip. This time DiskWarrior COULD see HD, so I ran DiskWarrior (1% out) on the HD and successfully rebuild Directory.
Almost certain now that something was wrong more than DiskWarrior could fix (I had run DiskWarrior twice in 2 days and the problem was still there and getting worse), I consulted the Apple TroubleShooting guide and decided to do a "Clean Install" of OS 9.1 before I lost EVERYTHING on my HD (that dire event happened before!)
Did "Clean Install" of OS 9.1.
Moved the following folders from the "Previous System" suitcase to the new clean install "System" Suitcase: Control Panels, Extensions, Favorites, Apple Menu Items, Startup Items, and Preferences.
After doing that stuff and a restart, my desktop now looks the same as it did before the Clean Install and my applications, etc. are working like they did before too.
Is the problem fixed? I don't know yet. But from past experience I do know that once the HD "Data Lost" error starts appearing bad stuff starts happening really fast.
Als: Since installing OS 9.1 nearly a year ago, I have never rebuilt the desktop or reblessed anything. Was that a mistake? But this PowerBook just ran PERFECT better than when brand new!
    Until 3 days ago....then BANG!
Did I follow the correct procedure? Any other suggestions for this eight year old PowerBook to keep it alive?
Thanks and I hope this helps others....
Wallstreet G3 Powerbook Series (1998)   Mac OS 9.1.x   233 Hz; 20 GB HD (16 GB free); 288 RAM:

I have no expierence using a zip disk. I have always ran DW directly from the CD. Therefore, unknown if it would have made a difference.
The reason why IE froze could have been because it needed more preferred memory. The newer version needs approximately 300%.
If you were looking at a flash type site, those take up a lot of memory & can cause freezes if your browser does not have enough preferred memory.
Then again, you could have had directory damage. 5% is not much. You could have run Disk First Aid directly from your System Install CD that originally came w/your computer. Whatever, DFA can't repair, then that is when you pull out the heavy artillary (DiskWarrior, etc.).
I would just leave sleeping dogs lie for right now if your computer is running smoothly again.
I would also do a monthly maintenance by running DW & Plus Optimizor.
Rebuild your desktop after updating/upgrading an OS, running a 3rd party utility like DW, downloading & installations.
You really need a backup browser. The following is from Microsoft's website:
"Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31st, 2005, and is not providing any further security or performance updates. As of January 31st, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac is no longer available for download from Microsoft."
    Alternative OS 9.x Browsers:
    Mozilla v1.3.1(Wamcom)
    Netscape Browser Archive
    Netscape v7.0.2
    MacUpdate-NC v7.0.2
    iCab v3

I don't know if this is a similar problem but I wrote 2 notes yesterday on my iphone. I opened my mail to print them and they appeared as notes but wouldn't load. Then I looked at them on my iphone and I could see the notes but they quickly updated to blank with a time of the last edit the same time I tried opening them on my computer.
Yesterday I updated to 4.3.4  I don't know if somehow that affected them. Are they stored somewhere else. Can I get them back?

  • Original back up data in different location

My wife backed her iphone up for the first time on a pc I already use for my iphone. Forgot to untick box syncing all contacts with outlook and therefore has lost pretty much all her phone numbers. I presume they're all in the back up file, but when I go to C:\....\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup the original back up file is not there (all later times when we synced again). After a bit of digging I've found a folder C:\....\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Backups\329440RZY7H\Structured which has loads of MDINFO and MDDATA files which were created at the time of the original backup.
I may be clutching at straws, but is this the original back up data that would contain all of the old phone numbers? If so how do I get the information to the correct location for iTunes to recognise it when I go to the Restore from back up option in Itunes?
    Any advise greatfully received, Phil

    Welcome to the discussions,
Every backup you make replaces the old one, so if you synced after that, your contact info is gone as well, because at that time your contacts were already damaged.
The only time a backup is not replaced is when it was used to restore your ipod, this backup will also show a time stamp.
All available backups are listed in iTunes/settings/devices. More info about backups, their content, location on your computer and much more can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

How do I get access to my backed up data on the cloud?

Just go to iCloud.com and log in.  Choose iCloud Drive if you are looking for documents that you lost on your mac and had put into iCloud drive prior to your hard drive dying.  Contacts, Mail, Calendars will all be there under the log in to choose from.
