6650: can't connect to imap mailbox

Hi
though I am quite sure that I have entered all data (especially passwords) correctly, I cannot connect to my IMAP mailbox.
Seems to be an authentification problem.
Can I activate a log somewhere to find out ...
Thanks.

This server has two interfaces?
If it has, you need to use the LAN interface IP if the firewall (in OS X server) blocks IMAP from Internet.
When connected using VPN can you do a portscan of the server IP (WAN and/or LAN) to see what ports are open? You could also try: telnet <serverip> 143 to see if IMAP is open.
Why use Digitunnel instead of OS X PPTP client? Why not L2TP VPN?

  • 11 e-mail accounts from different providers are suddenly giving me errors saying they can't connect to IMAP and SMTP server?

I have 11 e-mail accounts that was working fine a minute ago, but now they all say that they can't connect to the IMAP and SMTP servers.
They all work fine on my iphone.
    How should i troubleshoot this?
    Thanks in advance.

Nevermind, restarted for the third or fourth time, and now it works...
    Perhaps it was a time-issue.

  • Can't connect to IMAP sending

Hi, My ISP uses port 465 for IMAP sending. I can connect via a telnet session, but Mac Mail complains that it times out. My ISP says that the mail server is set up correctly. Any ideas on what the problem or solution would be?
    ivan@mycomputer:06:17 PM:~> telnet mail.my-server.com 465
    Trying 216.180.254.59...
    Connected to my-server.com.
    Escape character is '^]'.
    ^]
    telnet> quit
    Connection closed.

I don't think it's a major problem with the ISP because it works fine from Microsoft Outlook (2003 SP3).
according to gmail, they accept connections on 465 for secure SMTP too, and there is no 220 response on there.

    Connected to gmail-smtp.l.google.com.
    Escape character is '^]'.

So I'm still wondering if this is a problem with Mac Mail, or my settings? Any ideas on where to look?

  • IPod Touch can't connect to imap/smtp server

I have a 1st generation iPod Touch running iOS 3.1.3 (it's the iPhone OS, and I suspect that this problem is OS related).  I have half a dozen gmail accounts to which I connect to over WiFi using IMAP for reading and SMTP for sending.  It works flawlessly at home and almost always in public WiFi (Tim Hortons, McDonalds, Second Cup, Starbucks, malls, etc.).  Today, I tried it at another site, and all I got were the messages in the subject line (to the best of my memory).  Googling revealed that 2 ways to solve this was to re-enter the login information and to reset to factory default settings.  Obviously, I don't want to do the latter until I exhausted all possibilities.  However, the former doesn't work.  In fact, even after going to locations where email worked in the past, I continued getting the above error messages.  Web access, however, is fine.
When I got home, email worked flawlessly.  That means I don't have to reset to factory default.  But what could cause such a departure from the long history of proper functionality?

could you please explain how this is a gmail issue?
You are having a problem connecting to your email severs, which as you stated is Gmail ("half dozen gmail accounts")  You have recreated the accounts in the device without success.  THis all speaks to Gmail issues. Google has recently changed the Gmail configuration and severs. AFAIK, there is no incompatiblity with iOS 3.1.3, but you need to verfy with Google.
As for being an iPod Touch, I *suspect* that the OS is more likely the problem than the hardware.
Huh?  What's that got to do with iPhones?  Both the iPhone and iPod Touch use iOS.  Your post is about an iPod Touch 1G and belongs in the iPod Touch forum, where it has already been moved.

  • New Macbook can't connect to IMAP

I have two Vista boxes on my home network that connect to an IMAP mail account without issues. I've entered the IMAP info into my Macbook Mail program but it hangs on the Incoming Mail Server after I click Continue. The message is:
Checking connections to mail server "mail.cygen.com"...
    Any suggestions?

    How did you fix it?
Was the SSL on the incoming server set automatically?
I still have the same problem.

  • I can't connect to IMAP server

After updating to version 31, I can't download my mail.
I get a message at the bottom: "IMAP *DOMAIN*: Checking mail server capabilities..."
Nothing ever downloads. Let me know what other information you would need.

smtp.mac.com is incorrect, it should be smtp.mail.me.com
Here are all the settings to use.

I export mailboxes to PST files frequently . . . and without issue. However, I currently have two mailboxes driving me nuts! Since our company deals with financial issues, normally, when a user is terminated, we export their mailboxes to save information for historical and legal purposes (we're not Hillary Clinton).Normally, the New-MailboxExportRequest works great. These two mailboxes, however, were erroneously "disabled" by one of our engineers prior to export. The AD user accounts had also been disabled. After a number of months, we became aware that we did not have these mailboxes exported. So, I enabled the AD user accounts again, then "reconnected" the disconnected mailboxes to the matching user accounts. • Alias Name Changed after Connecting a Disabled Mailbox

    Hi all, Good day.
I have a quetion. A mailbox was disabled by mistake, so I have to connect it. Now problem appearred: the correct format of our email address is
[email protected], but after connecting, the email address became
[email protected], but the username is still peter.fiala.
    Environment: Windows Server 2008 R2 + Exchange Server 2013.
How can I connect the disabled mailbox with the correct address/alias? Thank you.

    Hi,
I was wondering if you have setup of the global email address policy, though you can manually add the email address via going into the properties of the mailbox >> mailbox features >> email address but you need to identify the cause of this email
change, global email address policy should be at the HUB server - check the properties of the policy.
To edit the existing email address follow the below steps
In the EAC, navigate to Recipients > Mailboxes.
In the list of user mailboxes, click the mailbox that you want to add an email address to, and then click Edit .
On the mailbox properties page, click Email Address.
    Note:
On the Email Address page, the primary SMTP address is displayed in bold text in the address list, with the uppercase SMTP value in the Type column.
    Click Add ,
and then click SMTP to add an SMTP email address to this mailbox.
    Note:
SMTP is the default email address type. You can also add Exchange Unified Messaging (EUM) addresses or custom addresses to a mailbox. For more information, see "Change user mailbox properties" in the Manage
    user mailboxes topic.
Type the new SMTP address in the Email address box, and then click OK.
The new address is displayed in the list of email addresses for the selected mailbox.
Click Save to save the change.
    Best of luck

  • Mail.app doesn't hava connection with imap server when changing network.

Ive got a strange problem after upgrading OSX from 10.6.8 to 10.8.4.
I have got a xserve, with osx 10.6.8. (mail) server installed on it.
When i am in the office (LAN) mail works just fine. if iam home and wake my macbook from sleeping i see in the mail app the attention mark telling my something is wrong with the mail account.
If i open the connection doctor it say's can't connect to IMAP server. if i check my iOS devices there is nothing wrong, everything is working and i can send/recieve mail. on iOS and OSX the settings are the same with SSL enabled and password type.
When i tried to telnet the mailserver address with the IMAP or SMTP port i get a connection. so, there is no firewall blokking my connection.
But now the strange thing when i quit my mail.app and start it again the mail gets connection again. So is there a problem when changing networks when the Mail.App is stil active?

That's just to bad, will it be solved in a future release of OSX?
I don't know... maybe Apple will force me migrating to Mavaricks.
it seems that although w'r using DNS, the outside ip gets remebered or the connection isn't closed down properly when putting the macbook to sleep.
I can try offcource to configure the outside LANip (Non dns) in my mail client.
    I will post with results..

  • Can't import imap mailboxes

    It's a long story.
It started when I created two mail folders with the same name. This caused (I think) my mail program to disable its self- for what ever reason, it stopped receiving mail, would go offline whenever I tried to check my mail. I have several mailboxes set up in mail for work. I copied them to my desktop. we deleted my old account and folders, and created a new account. But mail will not import my imap mailboxes. It imports mbox mailboxes, but not imap. Can anyone help? It's mail version 1.3.11

I think our techs deleted all of those folders on the server, because of the problems we were having with the duplicates. My program would not connect with any of the folders, even after re-synching, so we thought we would delete them and re-import them.
BTW, I think it' s strange that any mail program will allow folders with duplicate names to be created. You would think you'd get a warning message, or that it just wouldn't be possible.
I believe there is a method for doing provided here
at the Discussions but I need to locate it.
If these IMAP account mailboxes were created and
stored on the server, you shouldn't need to re-import
anything after deleting an re-creating an IMAP
account. All server stored mailboxes should be made
available again in Mail and re-synchronized with the
    server.

  • I can't set up gmail in my iPad 2. Keep on saying ' can't connect with SSL and ask me whether to connect without using SSL, then I press 'yes' and it said again IMAP is not working and tell me to see network connection and incoming mail server.

Keep on saying ' can't connect with SSL and ask me whether to connect without using SSL, then I press 'yes' and it said again IMAP is not working and tell me to see network connection and incoming mail server. Nope, doesn't pass verification. I get the spinner for a minute or so, then the alert about setting it up without SSL. Are you suggesting I disable Fetch and Push BEFORE I enter the account details? Because I never get past the account details screen, unless I choose "Set up without SSL" after the warning.

  • MS OutlookExpress: Can't connect to POP or IMAP

    Hi,
I successfully configured Convergence and login with specified user with full functionality (send, receive).
Problem is that I can't connect to mail server using MS OutlookExpress (POP or IMAP).
    Answers are:
POP3: Unable to logon to the server using Secure Password Authentication. Account: 'mail.observer.rs', Server: 'mail.observer.rs', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC18
IMAP: Not authorized to log in as specified user
    Configuration:
    Account: mail.observer.rs (1)
    Server: mail.observer.rs
    User name: mihailo.milosavljevic
    Protocol: IMAP
    Port: 143
    Secure(SSL): 0
    Code: 800cccd1
Telnet tests on these ports are successful also.
I think that problem might by on storing passwords (PLAIN or crypt.) but I can't resolve it.

These are the service names for IMAPS port (993) and POPS port (995). The back-end store processes don't recognise these service names however which an make using the mercury package -- well "tricky".

    - Try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Can you access the mail on another device?

  • I cannot send from one specific BT Mail account but can access folders using IMAP.

    Thunderbird 31.3.0 on WIndows 8.1 64 bit.
I have two email accounts configured into Thunderbird.
Both are BT accounts and have identical configurations.
IMAP is used for reading mail, SMTP for sending mail.
On one I can read folders, delete emails from the Bulk Mail folder, fetch and send mail.
On the other I seem to be able to do everything except send mail.
I can read mail, delete SPAM, but for some reason not send emails.
Both accounts are using "mail.btinternet.com" as the IMAP and SMTP server.
I am using Thunderbird as a back up email client to deal with a very few messages which cause major problems with my main email client which is Windows Live Mail 2012. I have double checked and the mail server details are the same between the two and my WLM client can send emails to the same SMTP server on the same port as Thunderbird fails on.
I know the password is correct because I can connect over IMAP and delete SPAM using Tbird.
The only difference that I can see between the two accounts is that one is "@btinternet.com" and the other is "@talk21.com".
The symptoms - I see the progress bar with "Connected to mail.btinternet.com..." and green all the way across.
Some time later I get a separate warning saying "Login to server mail.btinternet.com failed".
Because of the time delay I am assuming that the session has timed out.
I am also assuming that if the credentials were wrong the rejection would have been immediate (although the delay may be to reduce the effectiveness of brute force attempts to guess the password).
So I know that the IMAP credentials are O.K. - I can access the mailbox.
I know that the SMTP credentials are O.K. - I can send mail from WLM using the same settings.
Further confusion - I know that it worked in the past because I have a test message in my Sent mail from when I first set up Tbird.
    This is all very weird.
Has anyone else seen something similar?
Also, is there a debug option where I can trace the SMTP protocol when the email is being sent?
    Cheers
    LGC

Update: - I sent two separate test messages and saved both the failing emails as Draft to retry after restarting Tbird.
I've just noticed that they are both in a Drafts folder on my mail server.
Not, however, the Drafts area for emails composed using the web mail client but under a separate Folders tree.
I can't send the email with the web mail client, although I can forward it.
So further proof that the IMAP side is working.
