6650 fold MfE support

Hi,
I have bought a Nokia 6650 fold recently. I would desperately need Mail for exchange on it, thus I visited www.businesssoftware.noki.com , selected my device and have downloaded Mail for Exchange v2.07. However when I try to install it, I always get the following error message: “unable to install. component is built-in.”, but I can not locate it on the phone. What would I need to do to get it working?

Problem With Updating 6650 Fold

I recently installed the Nokia Software Updater Application. When I attempt to update my phone, I receive the following error message:
"Nokia Software Updater does not support this phone model."
The Nokia website, however, identifies my phone (6650 Fold) as a compatible device. I have data disabled on my wireless plan, so I can only update via PC.
I have two questions:
1) Is my phone compatible or not?
2) If so, how can I avoid the above error message and successfully update the phone?

Nokia 6650 Fold Bluetooth Pairing with Motorola S8...

My 6650 pairs with the headphones but then gets disconnected almost immediately. This is presumeably b/c I have not entered the passkey (0000) for the headset but so far I have not been able to figure out how to enter the passkey. Does anyone know how to do that?

FWIW (correction): The phone finally asked me (semmingly randomly) for the headphone passcode/key but the connection still got dropped afte I input it. I emailed Nokia support and got this reply:

I am very sorry to hear that your Motorola headset is not connecting with our Nokia 6650 Fold.
[U]nfortunately there is no way to manually input a pass code unless it is requested. Additionally, we do not support 3rd party products as Nokia manufacturer's its own line of Bluetooth headsets. I recommend contacting Motorola for further assistance.

6650 fold: how to add new languages

Hello,
I have moved from a Nokia 3110 Classic to a 6650 fold which should be an upgrade and include all functions of the smaller model. With the 3110 Classic I could select Spanish as input language which helps quite a bit in writing messages (T9 adds accents, etc.). But the 6650 fold does not offer Spanish. I live in Germany and thus have the T-Mobile branding. How can I add more languages to the phone? I have plenty of space on my MicroSDHC card.

Thanks for the tip. I bought a higher end mobile with a Symbian 60 operating system to be ready for business and world wide use. Unfortunately, the 6650 fold is not suitable for this task. I expected that even more languages than on the 3110 classic are preinstalled on the 6650 fold, but this is not so. I believed that an advantage of Symbian 60 is to be able to install packages on the mobile like it is possible on the PC by downloading it onto the mobile. I do not bring my PC to my dealer just to change the language of the user interface or the input language. The mobile has a firmware and much space for storage of languages. I added an 8 GB microSDHC card. I am not pleased by this deliberate policy and will change to another more free operating system as soon as possible. Maybe I can even install another operating system onto the 6650, I do not know. Way to go for Nokia to provide a useful gadget for the travelling business user!

Profiles and 6650 Fold

Is it possible to either create new profiles or add existing settings to current profiles for my 6650 Fold cell phone ?

There is no Tools | Profiles on the 6650 Fold. There is a Profiles button on the main screen. When I click that I am brought to a list of profiles. If I then choose Options, I do see the Create New.
If I choose Customize for any given profile, I do not see any menu item in the Options which allows me to add new settings other than the list of settings which are already there.
Also when I Create New profile, it is given the name 'New Profile' and I don't see any way to change that to the name I want.

Home Made Ringtones & the 6650 Fold

I have a 6650 Nokia phone. I a currently trying to figure out all the features.
I was wondering if I could make my own ringtones and use them on this particular phone.
Now, I don't know how to make ringtones, meaning I don't know what program to use and where to get a program, and I don't know how to get home made ringtones to my phone, if it is at all possible to do.
Are there any tutorials that explain the possibility of making my own ringtones and using them on my 6650 Fold?
As you can see, I am clueless about this and need instructions or tutorials to help me. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

Garaageband is a Mac program (part of the iLife programs which come with the Mac). The new version makes it easy to create a ringtone, and has a Send to iPhone option to make it easy to sync.
I think you can only use it with original music, not commercial music. Although I'm sure people are getting around that...

What version of Sports Tracker for 6650 fold?

There are seven different download links for Sports Tracker, depending on S60 version and phone model. The 6650 fold is not listed for any of them.
I'm hoping the app runs on the 6650 fold, and the page simply has not been recently updated with newer phone models.
Any suggestions?

Try the version for S60 v3.2 devices like the N96 and 6220 classic as they have the same operating system.

There is no guarantee that it will work as the 6650 fold is not a normal nokia model, it's a custom made network model. It is worth trying though.

Naming new profile on 6650 Fold

I can create a new profile on my 6650 Fold but it is named "New Profile" and I see no way to give it a distinctive name. Does anybody know how this is done ?

select profile outdoor for example scroll through set the tones etc you want when it comes down to end of list you can change the profile name there.

6650 Fold not turning on

I have been using 6650 Fold for more than a year. My phone just died couple of days back and its not turning on. The battery was fully charged before the phone died. I tried to turn it on without memory card, sim card, and also after removing the battery for more than 20 mins. None of the above methods worked. Event 3 finger reset (3,*,green button + power on button) is not working.
Has anyone faced any similar issues with 6650 before?
Any help or idea would be appreciated.

yup the phone doesnt recognize the operating system anymore. You need to restore the device. To do that you will need to put it in DFU mode, to do that you hold both buttons for 7 seconds, while its plugged in and then after 7 seconds let go of the sleep wake button and hold the home button until itunes recognizes that it is in recovery mode. This will erase everything, unless you have a backup in icloud or on the computer.

Shared IMAP Folder poorly supported in Mail.app

Towards the end it explains how to configure your favourite mail client to access the shared folder. Unfortunatly this seems to be a weakness for Mail.app which has only very poor support.

Apple Mail.app: this MUA doesn't support Folder Subscriptions, and don't support INBOX prefixes correctly (see first point). This restricts us to two options (with a third work-around): If you go to "Preferences, Advanced, IMAP path prefix" and set it to "INBOX", you'll have your folders in the right place, and not as sub-folders of INBOX, but you don't have access to "shared" folders anymore. If you remove it, you'll have access to everything but these everything will be sub-folders of INBOX, and will show in a very ugly way.
A third solution, or a ugly work-around, is to configure two accounts (You'll need different imap server names, so just add an DNS alias or point to your IMAP IP). One account will have IMAP Prefix as "INBOX" and the other one have "shared". This solution have a ugly result - you'll see your inbox messages twice in Mail.app Inbox. Just activate "View, Organise as Thread" and ignore it. Maybe Mail.app 2.0 will fix all these

IMAP4 folder path support seems to be broken.

Hi,
is seems that the IMAP4 support is not working properly. At least with the E60 and the E71 the following happens:
IMAP4 folder path is set to: INBOX. (with the dot!)
Expected imap4 command to get the folder list:
LIST "" "INBOX.%"
but the mobile client sends:
LIST "" "INBOX.\\%"
which is wrong (as far as I understand) and does not work.
Any ideas how I can force the client to send the correct command?

No one Folder Path configuration is working for me!
With my GMX account no problem, because all the folders are based in the root.
But with my ARUBA business account, all the folders are placed inside the INBOX and there is no way to have my E71 to download the folders in my emai IMAP INBOX account!!!
For many reasons I don't wanna use any add-on email client, neither the nokia messaging.
I need to use mu E71 Built-in email client.
Is it possible at Nokia, they don'y know about this?
Is it possible no one in the world experienced this and there's no workaround?
Do we all have to move to the everyday more tempting iPhone....???????

Why 6650 FOLD can't pair i.Tech Clip R35 headset v...

Very time I select i.Tech Clip R35 form the bluetooth search list to pair, but it show a message of can't pair with the R35 headset, but this headset can easily paired with my Nokia 6260. And my 6650 can pair other phones, computers normally.
So is there any hints about how to pair this stereo headset.

So do my 6650. And i heard some other symbian9.3 phone have the same problem, and this bug has been resolved by new release version, but there is no new release version of 6650...

Adding or removing profile items on 6650 Fold

For a given profile, how does one remove or add profile items ? Or are they just fixed and one can not add or remove any ?

Unfortunately there is no poption to remove the item from the profile.
-i.e if you are referring to the items such as the ring tone, incoming call alert type, vibration, calander tone and all those are preinstalled to the phone software.
Mark me a KUDOS if this has helped...

Nokia 6650 fold - after software update, MapNav qu...

After the upgrade, "MapNav", a java app very dear to me, had disappeared from the phone. I tried to re-install it, and got the message "Certificate error. contact the application supplier."
Uh? What gives?
Can this be real?
- they uninstalled one of my apps without asking me?
- they make no effort for software upgrades to be compatible with all apps?
- they changed the certificates such that an app can't be installed any more?
- they don't think it would have been appropriate to warn folks that this upgrade is harmful?
Anybody have a fix or at least good explanation?

as you have a suffered a failed software update, the only thing you can do is take your phone to your local Nokia Care Centre for them to take a look at.

Workarounds for lack of sub-folder support

I'm trying to find a workaround for the lack of sub-folder support for photos. For example, are there any apps that synchronise my photos with the original folder structure from my PC? I've spent quite a lot of time searching, but can't find the right solution.

There is NO sub-folder (two or more folder levels) support in OS3x and OS4x until today. Hope this will change in near future, however that also means foregoing smoothness operation of the iDevice due to how the internal memory works inside (so far, thousands of photos can be viewed without a lag because how fast the iDevice can find the memory location of each file inside its big memory, and creating sub-folders will take great amount of time for the processor to find, put-together, and present the many photos to screen).
There are other applications that support photos with sub-folders (folders inside folders inside folders inside folders inside folders and so on), however these are not specialized photo viewing app and will not show picture thumbnails but file listing instead:
- GoodReader
- OPlayer
Two good photo and video viewing apps with privacy security; Photo Safe and Video Safe, are also available, which supports high-definition without reducing photo quality as in original iDevice, BUT does not support sub-folders (only one level folders/albums).
I was hoping iOS4 had the Sub-folders feature for its iPhoto... doesn't have to be three-folder levels, but just additional one level sub-folders would be great.
