6680 & Pcsuite

Hi All
I have an issue with my 6680 and pc pcsuite.
I have the latest firmware on my phone that is available on Nokia's site.
I am running pc suite v6.84.10.3.
I have tried reinstalling both pcsuite on the PC, and pcsuite support on the phone, with restarting both the phone and pc.
I have reset the phone to factory defaults as well.
The problem is that I can copy my MMS messages off the phone onto my pc using the "nokia phone browser" in "my computer" but I cannot copy SMS messages, there are none in the list.
I have tried this on my work laptop and my home pc, so I would think that the PC side of things is not the issue here.
Please any help would be appreciated.
There are doorways I haven't opened and windows I've yet to look through. Going forward may not be the answer, maybe I should go back.

Try moving your messages from Phone memory to Mem.Card
Menu>Messaging>Options>Settings>Other>Memory In Use
From there choose mem card and wait a few seconds to ask you if you want to copy the messages from phone to memory card.Click Yes
And then try again to move them to the PC

  • Nokia 6680 Syncronisation problems

    Hi all
Sorry if I'm going over old ground here but can anyone help, I have read previuos threads and tried the solutions advocated.
My 6680 will not synchronise with my outlook diary, it connects to the PC no problem at all, it downloads pictures and video automatically.
I can browse the files on the phone memory and memory card with windows explorer no problem.
It just won't synchronise I get this message
"PC Sync has encountered a problem and has terminated the synchronisation. "
I've returned the phone to it's default settings using the reset code., but still no go.
    Any other ideas please?
    Cheers
    Kaysee

I think somebody else is having a similar problem with a 6630. He is using the latest version of PC Suite. Could this be a problem of PC Suite then?! Are you using the latest version as well?

You could also try the solution given by miksu in the following topic:

I know the solution is not for quite the same issue, but a repair of PC Connectivity may help.Message Edited by tao980 on 30-Nov-2006

  • Nokia 6680 Unable to send message in Inbox

Hi All, I received a word document via Bluetooth to my Nokia 6680 from my home PC. It is in my Inbox on my phone. I cannot save it or send it to an email address or via Bluetooth. I find this very frustrating. Can anyone help please? Antoinette

If you have, e.g., QuickOffice installed, you should be able to open it.
Otherwise, you could install FExplorer and search for the file under \system\mail and copy it somewhere (and then delete it from the Inbox; don't delete it with FExplorer).
After that, when you have the file saved, you can send it as an email attachment.
In the future, if you can use Nokia PC Suite, then you can copy files directly to the phone (even over Bluetooth), without them going through the Inbox (the Messaging app is not very good at handling file types for which there is no preinstalled "handler", or so called "regonizer" software, such as what you'd get for MS Office files with the QuickOffice app I mentioned).

  • Backed up old 6680, cannot restore to N73?

I've just replaced my 6680 with the N73. I backed up all data including memory card to my PC using PC Suite (sorry, don't know which version as I've since installed 6.81.13.0 to see if this would fix the problem) Using Explorer on my PC I can see the backup .nfb file. However, when I use PC Suite and try restore, even when I browse to the correct folder it tells me there are no backup files there. Running Windows XP, using USB cable. Am I doing something wrong or is there an incompatability? Thanks

  • Nokia 6680 to 6280

    Please HELP,
I have had a 6680 for the last year and have now got a 6280, the memory cards are differant sizes , how can i move all my contacts, ringtones, gallery & calendar events to my 6280. Im a bit slow with all this mobile stuff
Can anyone explain it step by step please
    Regards.
    Rick007

Do you have PC that you could use to move data fron one phone to PC first and then from PC to another phone ? I think you have the cable already, so the only thing is the PC and installing PC Suite from www.nokia.com/pcsuite into it.
I can quide you more if you have the PC.

  • Transfering video clip or picture to 6680

    hi all,
can anybody help me how to transfer a picture or video clips to NOKIA 6680?IM USING PC SUITE 6.82.22.0
    HYPER

Then you must first convert the video to a format that the phone understands:
    http://forum.nokia.com/video
You can use the PC Suite's "View multimedia" feature (application) and its "Save As" menu option to convert video files to a suitable format (like 3GP):
    http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite
You can also use special converters such as eRightSoft SUPER:
    http://www.erightsoft.com/super
There are also apps like SmartMovie from Lonely Cat Games:

  • Push to talk for nokia 6680

is push to talk available for nokia 6680 ? if so where can i download it ?

well i brought it sim free ! yeah it should be available as included in memory card but the thing is i lost the memory card that came with this phone.
so i brought another memory card and need to install own. currently i have core software like image editor, image manager and real player.. i wanted the setup file of push to talk.
I can't speak for the 6680 as I don't have one, but on the N95 these programs are actually a part of the firmware, so live on the actual phone - not memory card.
When you refer to "the setup file of push to talk", you have to remember there are two components - the actual program itself and the configuration. The program will/should live on the phone and you get the configuration from your network operator.
One thing you could try is to update your firmware on your 6680 to see whether this brings back the PTT application.
Visit here to see whether there is an update available for your phone first :
    http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4305060
and if so visit here to update your phone :
    http://www.nokia.co.uk/softwareupdater
However be aware that upgrading your phone will revert it to the configuration to when you first bought it, so if you wish to save the data on your phone, you might want to back it up using the free application Nokia provides called PC Suite which you can find here :
    http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite
After updating, you will also have to remember to contact your network operator to redownload all the settings for sending text messages and so on as the phone will no longer have these settings stored.

  • Nokia 6680 Keypad lock

I have to say having read all the other problems people are having I have not suffered yet, and am a heavy users.
However my only issue is the keypad lock. Am I just being daft or does the 6680 not have an auto keypad lock, only the manual one. I have made NUMEROUS pocket dialled calls, and it is reaching the stage of wanting rid of the phone.
Terrible let down for such a great handset.
I also use a 6230 which obviously does not have this problem.
Is there a software update rectifying this, or any plan to ?

It has a built-in automatic security lock, which requires a code to unlock it.
It doesn't have a built-in automatic, timed keypad lock that operates like the manual lock.
However, there are several (free) autolocking applications you could choose from. Here are two:
    AutoLock: http://www.my-symbian.com/7650/applications/applications.php?fldAuto=826&faq=2
    JJLKeyLock: http://www.my-symbian.com/7650/applications/applications.php?fldAuto=650&faq=2
You can download them to your PC and install on the phone using, e.g., PC Suite (http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite) and its "Application Installer".
TIP: In my Contacts I have as the first entry a contact named just "1" with no numbers at all. I discovered that if I forget to lock the keypad, the pocket calls seemed to always go to the first entry in Contacts, and this has saved one of my friends from a lot of unnecessary calls.Message Edited by petrib on 19-Nov-2005

  • Error message on a 6680

i have a 6680 and i am having a problem installing files if i go to install a theme or application it says installation failed security error?
i thought it may of been a problem with the file but ive tried on a 6230 and it was fine can anyone help me i am using the cable to connect as i cant seem to find the settings that i need to sort this problem out

I'm not too familiar with the 6680, but if you've got an application manager, there could be an option to stop installations:
Menu - Tools - Application Manager - Options - Software Installation - Set to on

  • When i send a message on my 6680 phone, i get this...

    i have a nokia 6680.
i sent my phone to fix the camera but unfortunately the guy said it can't be fixed because this is an old phone.that isn't the case, the problem is that since i got it back, i couldn't send sms messages.
every time i send a message, the symbol that there is a message being sent from inbox is displayed on the main page but then it gives a message "message sending failed".i tried to add a message center but it didn't work.
another thing i noticed is that before i sent the phone to fix, on the same corner where the "sending message" and "keylock" symbols are showed, there was a symbol* wich now is missing.could that be the reason why i am not able to send messages?
    please, let me know
symbol*(check attachment for picture...i tried drawing it, sorry for bad quality)

If you happen to have another sim card with you, can we try to use that sim card and see if the phone will send.
Or your sim card on another phone.
-This is to identify for sure is the issue with the phone or sim..
-If you cant send using another phone then get you sim changed or check with your operator.
-If you are able to send on another phone then you may wanna try resetting your phone by following these steps:
    - A restore by keying in *#7780# when on standby - This will not delete any data but will restore all the settings back to default.
If that does not help then you may wanna try doing a soft reset by keying in *#7370# when on standby - This will reformat the phone. DO NOT FORGET TO DO A BACK UP AS THIS WILL ERASE YOUR ENTIRE PHONE MEMORY.
The security code by default is 12345
If this fails as well then you may try doing the Hard reset by performing the 3 finger reset. You can do this by switching the phone on with the '3', '*' and green 'call' buttons pressed at the same time.
Mark me a KUDOS if this has helped...

  • Nokia 6680 Camera quality (or lack of) - non focus...

    hi,
have just got a 6680 and whilst it seems and appears to be an all-singing-and-dancing phone, seems to have a couple of issue.
1/ using the main camera, anything past x1 magnification is blurred. Have tried cleaning lens, altering contrast etc. etc. even transfering pics to pc if issue with phone screen.
Not sure if a software problem or hardware (does the camera have any moving parts?!!)
Also keep getting memory full, generally once i've received a text message, though the phone and mmc are under 50-80% empty.
    ps mp3 is great!
    CrAzYsUrFkid

the 6680 phone just uses a very basic camera mounted on a board. there are no moving parts, all zooming and any type of focus would be handled in the software.
i used to use a 6680 and found it to produce very good images, if you want a phone with focus and even better quality images you should look for an n90. this phone has an auto focus etc.

  • PCSuite Report not updating

    Hi,
I have installed PCSuite 6.5 for use with a 6230i. My PC has Windows XP. I am using it to synchronise my Outlook Calendar only. Everything works fine except that the Report generated after every sync is always empty. That is - it shows zero updates even when I have updated items either on the 6230i or Outlook or both. The updates are actually happening but just don't get recorded in the report. This is not a major hassle but nonetheless I would appreciate if anyone could throw some light on this.
By the way I had tried version 6.8 but had other issues which made me revert to 6.5. Plus 6.8 doesn't seem to have the new text message facility?
    Thanks,
    Chris.

    Hi,
    I don't know anything about 6.5....
But PC Suite 6.8 includes also new text message funtionality (click Messages and then there is (blue)message button under "Phone Browser"-text.

  • 6680 and 2gb MMC

Hello I've seen many adverts for 2gb MMC's that are compatible with the 6680 so took the plunge and bought one. It is from a reputable manufacturer who also made the 512k cards I've been using for some time. My problem is that when I insert the 2gb card the phone returns a "no card inserted" error. I have tested the card on a PC and it had no trouble recognising the card. I have even upgraded my firmware to V5.04.07 just in case mine was too old to support 2gb. Are all these adverts wrong and the 6680 is not compatible with 2gb? If not, is there soemthing I can do to get my phone to recognise the card? Thanks. Daz.

Interesting posts guys, and "yes" I too have a 6680 and a nice 2Gb DV RS-MMMC card.
Sadly also I get the "no memory card inserted" error.
The question still remains unanswered though - does the 6680 support 2Gb cards?
I use mine for sat nav and need more than 1Gb to store the map data so I really need this to work!
I may have to try returning my card to Kingston (and I thought they were supposed to be reliable manufacturers!) but there's not much point if the 6680 just isn't going to work with it.
As a point of interest the kingston site does not list the 2Gb card as being compatible -

  • Car Kit problem with 6680

    Can anybody please assist me!
I have a CK-7W car kit which I have been successfully using until recently with a 6230i. Last week my phone was upgraded to a 6680 and was supplied through work with the CR-27 cradle. However, when this is connected to the existing cradle connector, I get the message 'enhancement not supported' on the phone.
    Any suggestions?Message Edited by phill_a on 15-Jan-2006

    Ok.
    I have now tried the CK-7W with my wife's Nokia 6100, just using the pop-port cable and it has similar problems;
    1. It thinks it is connected to a headset, not a car kit.
    2. The radio stays on "phone" mode.
I didn't actually try making a call on it, but it seems odd that the problems are similar with another phone.
With my 6680 and the CK-7W, the phone works fine via bluetooth, but again, thinks it is connected to a headset, not a car kit.
When I connect through the pop-port cradle (CR-27) the radio stays on "phone" mode and the phone thinks it is connected to a headset. If I try to make a call, the sound is terrible, with loads of echo and feedback.
Also, while I can "see" my HDW-2, I am unable to actually pair with it.
    What do I do?
I have bought the genuine Nokia accessories, and this phone seems unable to work with them. Plus the CK-7W seem unable to connect to either my 6680 or 6100 via pop-port.
    What can be the problem?
I am really annoyed with what is supposed to be a high quality product.
    Perhaps someone will respond?
