6800GT wont display video bios on boot

like the post says at first i had the K7N2G  thought it was this old mobo got the delta 2 but still no bios mesage on boot changed the 4oow psu for a antec 550w still no bios measage on boot any ideas card seems to work alright only just break 10000 on 3dmark03 though but get 4500 in 3dmark05.
Also tonight while using clone view on tv the disply becomes garbled after ten mins and can only be fixed using single display mode im using msi latest vga driver should i use nvidia ones instead it will also sometimes freeze or lose monitor detection altogether i think this card was faulty but when i sent it back to shop they said it was good i had to bend the metal colar straight when igot it as it was bent just to fit it in case.

mine never used to show at all
but after messing with various bios`es  for my p.o.v. 6800 ultra i now use a bfg bios and it shows on boot up !
it depends on the bios you use for your card not the card itself i think.
same as boot up flash screens.

  • Satellite M30-951 graphic card or video BIOS does not work properly

On the BIOS and boot pages strange characters occur (screenshot www.audioberlin.com/M30-951_SCREEN.jpg).
XP boots up but the elements displayed freeze and the display becomes black for a second. The system becomes slow and does not react any longer.
Maybe these symptoms started after having tried to watch a movie which was not encoded correctly but I am not sure.
I already tried different video drivers (Nvidia FX GO5200), changed the BIOS from 1.7 to 1.6 and back again and reinstalled XP Pro. I also substituted the RAM. Nothing changes :(
Could a broken video bios be the problem? And how could this problem be solved?

    Hi buddy,
no, its not a broken videobios. Your graphicscard is defective and thats a 100% fact. My girlfriend had an M30-244 and the same error occurred with her machine.
At this time she had warranty on her machine, and they replaced the Mainboard of the machine.
After the replacement everything was fine again. So if you have still warranty on your Rig then give it to repair; otherwise you can give the machine to ebay. :)
Sorry dude, but thats a not very nice fact, which I can tell you.

  • How the Video BIOS works in Windows.

    Hello,<o:p></o:p>
I was looking at the hardware resources assigned to my graphics card and noticed the memory range usually mapped for the video ROM C0000h
    - C7FFFh was not assigned to the card.<o:p></o:p>
I looked into it and found that the ROM had been disabled. I know the video BIOS isn't used any more as it runs
in a 16 bit environment and device drivers are used to access the hardware. What about when Windows is running in an SVGA mode using VESA BIOS Extensions (VBE), for example when loading the splash screen or if a display driver can't be loaded. Doesn't
Windows need to use the Video BIOS for this?<o:p></o:p>
I disabled my graphics adapter so that Windows was using the VGASAVE driver and the ROM was still disabled. I'm just wondering
    how this works?
So basically my questions are does Windows disable the video BIOS and if so how does Windows use the graphics card and VBE in SVGA modes without being able to use the video BIOS?
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks.

My iPhoto wont display and i cant upload pics or even look at my library. how can i fix this?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see in the iPhoto window when iPhoto opens?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?
Come on.  Give us something to work with here.

  • Fuzzy Display - PC Won't Boot

    Hi there,
I have a friend who was using her PC (a Pavilion a1000 running XP3) when it suddenly gave the BSoD. She hard re-booted, now it gives a fuzzy display and won't boot past the HP logo screen. I can't get into the BIOS setup, or safe mode. It won't get beyond the logo. There are no error codes or beeps. Just freezes at the logo with the fuzzy display.
Before I do anything else, does this sound like something obvious to anyone? Any input is appreciated. And if more information is needed, just let me know and I'll gladly supply. Thank you in advance.

Without the full model number I can't be specific.  However, from the models in that series it appears that the computer is 8 years old.
My first thought when I see these symptoms with older computers is a failing/failed power supply unit (PSU).  Here is a guide to help you troubleshoot the PSU.
If it appears to be okay, then, check to assure that the memory is seated properly.  Over time the memory can shift.  Also, it could have failed, as well.  While you are at it, check all of the other components and clean inside of the case.

  • Nvresolution: NVIDIA Video BIOS Resolution Hack

    == Introduction ==
Nowadays, many people use their computers with wide-screen monitors. But, these resolutions aren't in VESA standards, the video drivers/framebuffers deal with them by themselves.
Unfortunately, NVIDIA's proprietary drivers for Linux don't provide framebuffer drivers. We have to use VESA compatible framebuffer and standard VESA resolution only. Therefore, we get poor resolutions in text-mode ttys when we using NVIDIA's proprietary drivers. Or, we could use Nouveau and get great resolutions with nouveaufb, but the 3D graphics performance is poor.
Intel i915 users had the same issues before, they invented 915resolution to hack the VBIOS. In fact, for NVIDIA cards, the similar method also works, the Hackintosh community used them, and integrated them in bootloaders for many years. nvresolution is a tool, that ported methods from Hackintosh community to Linux, it hot-patches the video BIOS of the NVIDIA GPU. Like the famous 915resolution, it modifies the video BIOS (in RAM, not EEPROM), replaces a resolution mode to custom resolution, in order to use the native resolutions of your monitors.
    == Safety ==
It modifies the video BIOS?! Yes, but it is a hotpatch. The video BIOS area it modifies which is mapped into the RAM. It means the modifications of the BIOS are transient. The modification will lose after shutting down. There is no risk of permanent modification of the BIOS. It also means that nvresolution must be run every time the computer boots.
In the worst case, if it breaks your graphics, just reboot your computer.
    But, please keep in mind:
This is free software; see the source for copying conditions. There is NO warranty; not even for MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
    == Limitation ==
It must build into GRUB, or build into initramfs before uvesafb starts. It should work on GTX 400 and newer GPUs. But only tested with my GTX 460.
It must unlock PAM registers to modify the VBIOS memory. Unlike i915, the method of unlocking PAM registers is depends on CPUs, because i915 is a part of motherboard chipsets, there is a general way to unlock the registers, but NVIDIA cards are not.
It should works on Intel Core i-series processors Gen1/Gen2/LGA2011. But only tested with my Core i7 2600K (belongs to Gen2).
Core i-series processors Gen3 and newer processors are not supported. AMD processors are not supported, because I don't have manuals or hardwares.
    == Note ==
I wrote the program in 2014, for myself. I don't have enough time to provide technical supports (installation Q&A, AUR package, troubleshooting) for the community, so I didn't introduce the project to anywhere. But, I think advanced users and developers may take the benefic for the project. Well, feel free to ask anything.

    Hello,
I found the device driver here on Lenovo's web site at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67924.  Note that this driver is for Microsoft Windows XP, not Windows Vista.

  • Qosmio G30-201 HD-DVD cant play- Cannot display video on ext device?

    Hi,
I am trying to play Heroes Season 1 HD DVD on my G30-201, and get a message ' Cannot display video on external device ' but there is NO external device - I am firstly trying to display it on the G30 screen. I would like to play it out through HDMI to another full screen TV.
I have updated the BIOS and reinstalled the HD-DVD player from the Toshiba site but there is no change!
    Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Many thanks
    Nick

    Hi there,
since when does the problem appear? Is this the first time?
I am not sure, but if you didnt already reinstalled the display drivers, I would suggest it since sometimes the VGA driver does not like the user wants.
Please, go to the Toshiba driver download site (again ;) ) and download the display driver. Install it and define only the internal screen.
If it doesnt work come back and give a feedback so we can discuss further about your problem.

  • BIOS Changed Boot Order By Itself

I have a Pavilion H8-1360t. When I got it in March I installed a Samsung SSD. I copied the original Hard Drive to the SSD and made the SSD my boot drive. I also swapped the SATA ports becasue the HDD was on the high speed on. For the next 4 months I've been booting every morning and shutting down at night with no problems. The SSD boots quick and again, no problems. The SSD was my C drive and the original HDD was now my F. I only used it for Ghost backups of the C drive. I also Ghost to an external USB3 drive.
This morning when I booted I noticed that all my icons were missing as was all my data and all my programs I had installed. AFter some research I found, in the Computer display of my system, that my SSD was now the F drive and the original HDD was now my C drive. So I was booting using the original HDD that came with the system.
I tried to figure out how to tell the BIOS to boot from the SSD as it had been, but I cannot figure out which drive in the display list is it and besides that I want it to do that by default. I'd also like to know how or why the PC decided to reassign thedrive letters and boot from the HDD now.
HP refuses to help saying that since I have user installed devices they do not have the tools to help. They also cannot tell me how to get the Boot Order changed. But even if I could do that, and I've tried going into BIOS setup and Boot Priority, I cannot get it to boot using the SSD. HP suggested I go to some third party. But there's got to be a solution I can do. My last choice would be to copy the entire SSD to the HDD (the SSD id only 500GB and the HDD is a Terrabyte). I assume then that when it would boot from the HDD the data I copied over to it (using Ghost) would make it look then like the SSD did. My loss would be speed but at least I'd have critical data that I now cannot access.
I am really up the creek right now Any ideas?
    Thanks

I took the PC to Fry's. They think there's a problem with the SSD. Even though I am able to see it and to move data off of it, there is some problem during boot that tells W7 and BIOS that is cannot boot and that is what is causing the system to then look for another boot drive. It then finds the hard drive, which came with the system and is connected, and is bootable, and thus it boots from that drive and also remaps the drive letters, effectively swapping the C and F between the SSD and HDD.
Now I am trying to move all my data to the HDD, install Office and other programs, and just boot to the HDD until I can get the SSD examined for problems and a new one, if necessary, put in.
    PC's are such a joy.

  • Video BIOS

    Hi there,
I have an NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti200 graphics card (with the MS-8851 code on it) which I inherited from a friend, but it doesn't display anything on the screen. I think it might be a Video BIOS problem, but can't find anything on the MSI website about it.
I'm not 100% sure that it's an MSI board, but I searched for the code above (MS-8851), and it led me to the MSI website. If this is the case, how can I find out who made it?
    Thanks very much/...

From what you say, It might very well be a BIOS issue but if the BIOS was incorrect, it shouldn't have flashed anything. Your statement "so he wiped the EEPROM??" is unclear, did he say he wiped it or are you asking if, by doing that action he wiped it?
What you have to find out from your friend, is why he decided to do it in the first place. Those little bits of history can be important. Troubleshooting can be a lot like a detective's occupation.
You could try http://www.mvktech.net to see if there is a BIOS for that card. Not likely since its pretty old.
You could look on the card, and if there is a green sticker, give that info to me and I may be able to hunt it down. I can't promise you anything but I will try.

  • 848P wont' post after bios upgrade under windows --- SOLVED

    Hi, I own a MSI 848p Neo-V, with a P4C 3Ghz, 2*512 PC4000 Corsair,  6600GT AGP, 1 CD recorder set as Master in primary IDE,
2 HDD SATA, PSU Antec 350W.
All that stuff has been working fine for months   untill I installed liveupdate 3.69 downloaded from MSI web site , then started the bios (6788v61 I guess) update operation  . I performed this update in Windows environment (Win XP SP2), I also ceated the safety floppy disk as suggested during the process.
Since then, the computer will not start  : nopost at all, no display, no beep, no boot. I just have the cd recorder led and the LAN adapter led blinking from time to time. I performed a clear CMOS but it did not solved my problem.
Any idea or suggestion would be helpful.
    Kind regards

Hey! I managed to fix it fianlly !!!
I read a lot of threads in many forums, and first learning is do not upgrade if you do not need to (stupid but correct at the same time  )
I found a contribution from MarkA (who's my new god by the way) here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=28048.msg161595#msg161595
I don't know whether the ram story is relevant, but it worked for me anyway ; here is exactly what I did to recover :
    1 - ungluged PSU cable
2 - pushed power button to totally empty capacitors
    3 - clean Clear Cmos (jbat1 moved from 1-2 to 2-3) --> https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=31222.0
4 - remove the two PC4000 Corsair Ram modules
5 - inserted one 2700 Ram module (borrowed for this test)
    6 - move jbat1 back to 1-2
7 - insert floppy with latest bios renamed AMIBOOT.ROM (
8 - plug the psu cable back in
    9 - power on while pressing Ctrl+Home
10 - removed floppy when hearing 4 bips
11 - reboot, and display is working (hurra!  )
12 - Access to bios to restore settings
    13 - Power off
    14 - ungluged PSU cable
    15 - removed the 2700 Ram module
16 - inserted the two PC4000 Corsair Ram modules instead
17 - plug the psu cable back in
Since then, everything is working fine
Thanks to all who tried to support me in this operation.
