This time I think I understand him:
Mainboard: MSI 975X Platinum PowerUp-Edition (MS-7246 v.2.1)
He wants to know if the incompatibility issue between JMicron and the Intel RAID controller that appeared with the 7.2x BIOS-Versions has been resolved in the latest official BIOS (7.5). The JMicron controller has to be completely disabled in order to use Intel RAID. One IDE and one SATA port are rendered useless due to this BIOS bug.

Problem with downgrading bios. MSI P67A-GD65 (B3).
Hi!
I'm having problems with downgrading my bios from version 4.3 to 1.19. I want to downgrade, because 4.3 doesn't want to boot when I use xmp settings for my RAM ( that might be related to my CPU since I have i5 2500k which is 32nm and 4.3 version of BIOS is recommended for 22nm processors ). When I try to flash with the MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing Tool I'm getting an error: "Rom file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID". I've ran out of ideas how to downgrade my bios so I'm asking you for help. My specs:
MOBO: MSI P67A-GD65 (B3)
CPU: INTEL CORE i5 2500K
RAM: G.SKILL RIPJAWS X 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHZ CL6 (F3-12800CL6D-4GBXH)Here you go. GD65 and GD55 usde the same BIOS files;

i am very much in favor of stability ,reliability and performance but the fact remains
that Toshiba Techs have made a conscious and willfull decision to under clock the laptop and make no
mention that the bios updates may result in processing reduction, as for the call to tech support it was fruitless
because they are clueless as to why such things happen (Corporate Denial).
In Canada there were two very close speced laptops
one for 899.00 CAD with 1.9 GHz CPU
and the one I bought 2 months ago 1149.00 CAD 2.0 GHz
To me this looks like Toshiba overclocking the laptop to get out the retail door.
its not just affecting me, it affects everyone that buys a Toshiba laptop.
I will not back down on this point. The origional advertised and paid for specs, should
be restored in an upcoming bios update. If not, then it just confirms my original
findings.
This is refered to as "BAIT and SWITCH" and the practice is illegal in Canada. -
I have 2 PC´s and both have iTunes with diffrents Songs, but only 1 iPod
Hello ..
My English is not so good,i learn it in school, but i hope you understand me and i get some help from you.. plZ
MY Problem :
I have 2 PC´s( My PC and the PC of my mom ) and every PC have iTunes with diffrents songs, because my mom dosen´t like my music =D and i don´t like her Music...
But we only got one iPod Video....
Now my Question :
How to get all the Music form both iTunes on the iPod ?
I hope you can help me and please don´t write to difficult englisch xD
LiKE you allIf you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:
Using iPod with Multiple computers
Managing content manually on iPod
Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod -

Multithread with diffrent parameter
i want ask how i can create multi thread with diffrent parmeter??
when i dequeu aparmeter from Queue i want to pass it to new creation thread ..in another word how i can create many thread durig run time ...
i dont know how much parmeter will put in the queue ..put when i dequeue data from queue i want to pass it to the new threadHuh?
It's not clear what you're asking.
What do you mean "multi thread with different parameter"?
What do you mean by "dequeuing a parameter from the queue"?
Are you saying that each item that you dequeue should get its own thread? This is not necessarily a good idea. If you have 10,000 items in your queue, do you really want 10,000 threads running? 100,000? 1,000,000?
If this is what you're asking, and assuming the number of items in the queue is small enough to keep this reasonabe, here's basically how you'd do it. while (queue.isNotEmpty()) {
// Worker is a class that you create that implements Runnable and processes one queue item in its run() method
Worker w = new Worker(queue.next());
Thread th = new Thread(w);
th.start();
} However, a better way to do it would be to pick some fixed number of threads to process the queue. 5, 10, 100, whatever works for your situation. Your Runnable's run() method then just loops continuously, pulling an item of the queue, proccessing it, and repeating this forever or until you set a "done" flag. -

K9N2 Diamond works with X2 3800+ but not Phenomii 940 with updated BIOS
The system in question.
MSI K9N2 Diamond Current BIOS 7375v 2.6, have also tried 2.5, 2.4, 2.3, 2.2
AMD Phenom II 940
2X 2Gb Corsair CM2X2048-6400C5
Antec True Power 750 Watt P.S.
EVGA Nvidia GTX 260 GPU
W.D. 300Gb HDD
This system is about 6 months old. When I put this system together for my brother in law, he ordered the parts with the intention of using his old mobo but didn't realize it didnt support the phenom chip he ordered. SO rather than waiting for another ordered part we took a trip to our local Comp USA. K9N2 Diamond said it was phenom 2 ready, yeah ok. Anyway after a few hours of going crazy trying to figure this out for him I found out it wasn't phenom2 capable till you updated the BIOS with an older CPU. Lucky for us I use an X2 3800+ in my machine. So I popped my chip in and ipdated his BIOS with the USB drive tool. Everything seemed right with the world then.
Now he brought the PC over for me to install Windows 7 64 bit for him. Did the install and was tracking down the few drivers Windows 7 missed and ran across Live update 4 for drivers and utilities. Should have known better but I went ahead and let it update the BIOS to 2.6. Sure enough, the CPU and GPU fans cycle on and off with no post. Check this post as his issues are identical to the ones I am experiencing. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=133615.0 Now they never resolved this guys issue and it looks like he just RMA'd the board.
So I started narrowing down the possible issues. First thing I did was find the MSI USB Flash Tool again and put BIOS 2.2 back on with my 3800+ back in his machine. Machine worked with every BIOS version from 2.2 to 2.6 installed with USB tool with my 3800+ in his machine but would not post at all with all BIOS versions and his phenomII. Every time his CPU is in the machine, when the power is turned on the CPU and the GPU fans both go to max RPM then turn off over and over. Cleared CMOS multiple times. I know the clear was working when I put my 3800+ in it would state the time was reset in BIOS. Pulled everything out but one stick of RAM and same thing, posts with 3800+, nothing with phenomII. Tried the other stick of RAM although it passed both a memory test with USB tool and memtest with 3800+ installed. Same. Pulled CoolMax 750W PS from my machine and put it in his. Same issues. No post with PhenomII, posts with 3800+. Now this is with NOTHING but a stick of known good RAM, PS, Mobo, CPU and CPU fan. Using onboard video. All other drives, fans, pci devices, ect are disconnected.
So now I have 2 machines in my office all taken apart as I do not want to have to button my machine back up just to tear it back apart in case I have to do more to his Mobo with my CPU. I would rather not have to RMA the board if I do not have to like the guy in the link to the post I put up above.I understand the need for future proofing mainboards as much as possible. What I am not ok with is the labeling on the box stating the board is PhenomII ready when in fact it isn't ready unless you have an older CPU that you can use to flash the BIOS to make it ready. Plus, if Live Update is the POS that everyone makes it out to be on the forums, why is it the first option on MSI's website for driver and BIOS downloads? MSI's USB Flash Tool is probably one of the easiest things I have ever used to update a BIOS, why not have that as the first option?
Anyway, I managed to talk a buddy into bringing his rig over to help me figure this out. Replaced his 965 with the 940 in question and it fired right up in an ASUS M4A785-M mobo. Tried the memory and PS in his rig as well just to triple check them and they were also good. Put his 965 in the K9N2 Diamond after making sure the BIOS was version 2.6 with the 3800+ and did not fire up with his 965 in the socket.
So a quick recap.
940 and 965 PhenomII will not post in the K9N2 Diamond but the 3800+ will.
All three post in the M4A785
tested memory by using only the slot closest to CPU in K9N2 on stick at a time. Both sticks work in the K9 with the 3800+ and both sticks work in the M4A785 with all three CPU's.
have tried every BIOS version from 2.2 to 2.6 using the MSI USB Flash Tool with the 3800+ in the K9N2.
Have cleared CMOS multiple times with the power cord out and holding down the On/Off switch for 20 seconds to discharge the caps before clearing. After every clear the next successful post says that the BIOS time needs to be updated.
P.S. works on three different rigs.
Any ideas or suggestions? If I must RMA than I must. But it works with the 3800+ so there has to be something firmware wise that is causing this. -

Hi,
I am using two models with diffrent diffrent jcos for that. Is there any problem in that ?
Regards,
Gurprit BhatiaHi,
JCOs are made per system (R3).
If your two models are calling two different R3 system then it is fine. But if both of your models are pointing to the same R3 system then you should have only one JCO.
This will improve the performance as JCO connections are pooled in the application server and re-used. -
I need your help with the Bios password!
Hi,
I'm using a satellite l305D-S5895 and i have a problem with the bios password. I was setting a password in the Bios or CMOS ( i don't know exactly). Every time i start up my computer, a blue box appears and ask me for the password. I know the password but I think it complicated and i want to take it off, and clear it. Please help me with that. If you guys have a way by turn of the battery or push the reset key inside the laptop, please give me some pictures to show that. Thanks a lot. This does not sound like a Toshiba Bios password. The Toshiba passwords come on a black screen with white writing and say "Password =". Toshiba Service Centers have the tools needed to remove the password. provided that you can prove the computer is yours. So bring a proof of purchase and be prepared to pay, because password removal is not covered under warranty.

[Solved] Unbootable USB with both BIOS and UEFI setup
I'm installing Arch to a USB flash drive to be bootable across a wide-range of computers (like the Arch ISO for USB) - both with legacy BIOS and with UEFI support (32bit instead of 64bit for greatest compatibility). I've installed Arch successfully and everything with it works fine.
To get the flash drive to bootup on legacy BIOS systems, I've installed Grub. This went without a hitch and this boots up on every legacy BIOS machine I've tried.
However, I cannot for the life of me get UEFI working. I only have one UEFI-enabled machine to test on. I've tied settings up both Gummiboot and Grub for UEFI support and they both seem to get to the same place. I get their boot entries to show up in the UEFI's boot up menu, but it boots the UEFI installation already present on the system (another Arch installation). If I remove the UEFI entry for the Arch installation on the machine, it lists the flash drive in the boot-up menu but clicking on it tells me that there were no bootable mediums found. So I'm guessing there is a configuration error somewhere.
The Arch ISO disk boots up successfully over UEFI on the machine without a hitch. SafeBoot is disabled on the UEFI machine machine. The UEFI machine has a working UEFI Arch installation by Grub2 which works fine - I setup the flash drive pretty much the same was as detailed below but it doesn't work.
Here is my setup:
Disk /dev/sda: 57.9 GiB, 62176362496 bytes, 121438208 sectors
Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disklabel type: gpt

/dev/sda3 10489856 121438174 110948319 52.9G Linux filesystem
It is a GPT formatted flash drive, with an EFI partition, a BIOS Boot partition (for Grub) and finally a LUKS encrypted file system. (I have also tried the system without LUKS and I still get the same results as above).

I've tried copying both grub.efi to bootx64.efi and grubia32.efi to bootx64.efi. Both seem to be the same file.

grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
mkdir /boot/EFI/boot
cp /boot/EFI/grub/grubia32.efi /boot/EFI/boot/bootx64.efi
I have to copy grubia32.efi to bootx64.efi so my UEFI system detects the flash drive.
I have done all of these steps on a BIOS machine, and a UEFI machine, both with the same results. The machine recognizes the flash drive in the bootup menu and lists it as an option to boot from, but it tells me no bootable device was found. I don't care which method I need to use to get the flash drive to bootup over UEFI, gummiboot or Grub, I'm just trying to get it to work.
Last edited by awbs (2015-05-17 18:25:19)It sounds like you are on the right track. I got it to work using a similar method. Here is my setup: 16GB USB 2.0 Corsair Voyager.
gdisk -l /dev/sdb
GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 1.0.0
Partition table scan:
MBR: protective
BSD: not present
APM: not present

Found valid GPT with protective MBR; using GPT.

Logical sector size: 512 bytes

Partition table holds up to 128 entries
First usable sector is 34, last usable sector is 31950686
Partitions will be aligned on 2048-sector boundaries
Total free space is 2014 sectors (1007.0 KiB)
Number Start (sector) End (sector) Size Code Name
1 2048 206847 100.0 MiB EF02 BIOS boot partition
2 206848 616447 200.0 MiB EF00 EFI System
3 616448 31950686 14.9 GiB 8300 Linux filesystem
As you can see, I made 3 partitions on a GPT labeled USB stick. You need to format the EF00 and 8300 partitions:
mkfs.vfat -F32 /dev/sdb2
mke2fs -t ext4 -L isofiles /dev/sdb3
"isofiles" is the label I used for the ext4 partition. You can change this. Now install Grub for EFI on the ESP partition:
mount /dev/sdb2 /mnt
mkdir -p /mnt/boot
grub-install --target x86_64-efi --efi-directory /mnt --boot-directory /mnt/boot --removable
Place your grub.cfg file in /mnt/EFI/BOOT.
Install GRUB for legacy BIOS on the bios_boot partition:
umount /mnt
mount /dev/sdb3 /mnt
mkdir -p /mnt/boot
grub-install --no-floppy --target i386-pc --boot-directory /mnt/boot /dev/sdb
Place your grub.cfg file in /mnt/boot/grub. On some systems, it is /mnt/boot/grub2.
Copy all of your ISO files, e.g., arch, gparted, clonzilla, etc, to the ext4 partition. you will need the UUID of the ext4 partition:
blkid /dev/sdb3
This is because we are using a UUID search method to find the ISO's before loop mounting them. You can obtain the grub menu entries for various distros here. I used the following grub.cfg to boot arch and gparted in EFI mode:
set default="0"
function load_video {
insmod efi_gop
insmod efi_uga
insmod video_bochs
insmod video_fb
insmod video_cirrus
insmod all_video
load_video
set gfxpayload=keep
insmod gzio
insmod part_gpt
insmod ext2
set timeout=10

set isofile='/gparted-live-0.22.0-1-amd64.iso'

set isofile='/archlinux-2015.04.01-dual.iso'

loopback loop $isofile
set root=loop
linuxefi /arch/boot/x86_64/vmlinuz archisolabel=ARCH_201504 img_label=isofiles img_loop=$isofile earlymodules=loop
initrdefi /arch/boot/x86_64/archiso.img
The legacy grub.cfg file is identical to the above, except that you use "linux" and "initrd" instead of "linuxefi" and "intrdefi". Note that unfortunately you have to use two grub.cfg file, one for UEFI and the other for legacy placed in the locations described above. However, they are very similar.
When you boot the machine, if it is an ASUS board, let's assume, press F8 during POST. You should see "Corsair - UEFI" and "Corsair". They should both work. Good Luck. -
**bleep** WITH INSYDE BIOS??
I have a need to enable wake on LAN for my HP DV7T-6c00. I also want to disable hyperthreading, as the majoiry of video game performance is diminished with it enabled. I have looked and looked for an unlocked BIOS but now I'm just PISSED. There is literally ZERO REASON for HP to lock the BIOS. Don't give me the BS, "so people don't make changes and damage their computer derp herp". That's a RIDICULOUS cop out. First off, there aren't any settings in the BIOS that would damage your computer. Possibly if there were RAM timings and CPU frequencies/multipliers as options then some damage could [albeit unlikely] be caused. Aside from that, there's literally nothing that could cause any problem that pressing the hotkey to "restore defaults" couldn't correct.
I really have no clue what bonehead came up with the idea to do this, but as an owner of 3 HP computers, with the DV7 being the only one that is locked, I'm telling you right now. I won't be buying another HP unless a resolution is produced. In the very least there must be allowed the opportunity for an end user to call in and request the BIOS be unlocked, and just ship with the BIOS locked by default (still a POINTLESS measure, however). ASUS HERE I COME.Clock.
When asked for the password just hit enter three times.
Post that halt code.

DV8 - NQ226AV - Updated with wrong BIOS
Unfortunately I updated this laptop with a Bios that was geared for a different model. The BIOS functioned and now I'm in BSOD hell.
Anyway to make a BIOS USB that I can back this update out?
When I try to restore the previous BIOS that Flash tool returns a Blue Screen.
I'm stuck.
Thanks.
This question was solved.
View Solution.Hi there @Bricked
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you accidentally updated with the wrong BIOS, I am happy to help with this.
Take a look at this page and see if you can update the BIOS from the backup. If not then the document continues on to other methods.
Restoring the BIOS
You can find the correct BIOS on the support page for your notebook. Normally the BIOS file has several options, and should be able to create a USB flash drive with the BIOS image.
