694D Pro2

Hi guys,
I would like to check if this processor, Pentium III 800MHz (SL4MB) is compatible with the 694D Pro2 motherboard. The processor seems to be in PPGA packaging.
Thanx in advance.
Cheers,
Eugene Soh

Any suggestions what i can do? Settings in bios/VGA etc?

Thank you, but I've already tried that kind of stuff :/
I tried changing my onboard network card from automatic to 10 mpbs half duplex... And it changed the performance alot, now it hardly never lags, but when it lags, it's for like 3 seconds.
The weird thing is that when it lags, it's only movement - I can shoot while it's stuck (weird).

  • 694D Pro2(-IR?) How big HD does this support?

I got a 694D Pro2 motherboard, and I wounder how big hard disk this supports. I thinking about a western digital 8mb cach 120GB, 160GB or 200GB disk.
I also wounder why I got a message that says:
    "WARNING! CPU has been changed"
"Please Enter CPU Speed CMOS Setup and Remember to Save Before Exit!"
This message has always comed up since I bought the motherboard, and if i fix it in the bios, it would be the same after I power off my computer. The computer works fine still with this message, but I havto press F1 every time I sould boot my computer.

Here's your answer to the HDD support Qns, you've to go into HDD Support link in this page.
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=84
Next, the speed indication for the CPU is being changed in Softmenu BIOS, but don't worry, it will not do damage to your system. All you've to do is to know what CPU you are running on now, i.e, Dual Intel Pentium III 800 CPU @ 100MHz, then you've to selected this indication from the list in your BIOS. I've had encounter this similar problem on my friend's old P3 running on his ASUS mobo and it's only indication error.
    All the Best... :D!!!

  • MSI-6321 694D Pro2 wont boot past RAID

    Hi,
I have a 694d pro2 with dual P3 933's. The board has been running fine with Windows 2000 Server. The problem I have is that now when it boots, it reaches the onboard RAID configuration then halts. I'm not running any array's nor am I using the controller as a standard IDE controller.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Does it halt 'after' detecting the drives connected to the RAID array or before-hand ?
If its halting afterwards you may want to try specifying a different boot order in the BIOS. Maybe its looking for a boot condition or component that isn't responding correctly.
When it halts does the system still respond to a CTRL + ALT + DELETE, or do you need to power it off from holding the button down for 4 seconds ?? If its a soft boot then the system 'is' still responding but is just paused. Needing to hard boot it would probably mean its something a little more serious.
I had a slightly similar problem with an IDE ZIP drive hooked up to the onboard (northbridge) IDE connecters on a 6321. No matter what boot order I had the system in it wouldn't get past the onboard promise card. In the end I switched ZIP drive to an A: drive, and swapped the onboard floppy over to the B: drive and vwala .. system happy.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is agp 8x card safe on 694D Pro2?

My 694D Pro2 supports 3.3v agp graphic cards (believe this is agp 2x cards).
    I am currently using a agp 4x card (1,5v).
I will like to istall a new 3D card but have read somewhere that a 0,8v (agp 8x) card always can handle the 1,5v but not the 3.3v of older agp slots.
I would like to know if I risk damaging a agp 8x card(0,8v) with 3.3v when using it in my 694D Pro2 mainboard?

Most of the time the card won't fit if it can't be used.
But beware of the universal AGP slots, they can only do 5V if I'm not mistaken.
The slot should have blocking points to stop you from putting wrong cards in.
However the first AGP slots don't have this!!!!
But as you are using an AGP4x card in the board, an AGP 8x card should work well too.

  • Win2k/XP installation trouble on 694D Pro2

    Hi,
I got a 694D Pro2 motherboard. I got 2 harddrives on the raid controller (in raid 0) and I'm trying to install Win2k (and I have tried WinXP) but none of them seems to find the harddrives. I have downloaded the raid drivers from the msi webpage and I have tried several other versions I have found on the net but none of them works.
Anybody got a driver that works??
I know the harddrives etc works, Partition Magic etc finds the drives (the bios does to of course). But the Win2k/XP installer refuses to find them.
I have installed the latest bios, I have configured a raid 0 stripe so everything seems to be in order. And I hit F6 and install drivers when I try Win2k/XP.

I have several driver versions. And I'm running the latest official bios from MSi.
The harddrives are on seperate channels. I'll try changing them from whatever setting I have today to the other (master to cable select or the other way around). I don't recall which one it is (haven't had time to look deeper into this since my previous post).
Which driver version is recommended? Is the one you can download from the drivers section here good enough?

  • 694D Pro2 with Geforce4 ti4600

    hi there!
Can anyone tell me if anybody had experienced any problem using a Geforce4 ti4600 in 694D Pro2 MS-6321 with dual 1Ghz 133mhz cpu.
I have upgraded from MSI Geforce3 to Asus Geforce4 ti4600 ultra deluxe and during the POST, I see 12 white blocks on the screen and then on the win2k startup there are 12 blue blocks afterwards the system hangup.
I have asked for a Geforce4 replacement and my dealer told me that I have to make sure that MSI is compatible with the new VGA card.
Is this possible? I do not have any problem with my old Geforce 3 which is almost the same as with Geforce4.
Help needed before I put the new board in. ?(

First, make shure you have a good and strong power supply. GeForce 4 tends to draw a lot of power. Adding two 1 GHz CPUs, although Intel P-III, doesn't make the burden easier...  I wouldn't go for anything less than 300 W, and preferably 340 W or even more. Also be aware that not all so called 300 W PSU's are equally strong. Chieftec makes good PSU's, I would probably recomend their 340 W for this system, unless you have many hard disks or CD's, in which case I would choose an even more powerful PSU.
If possible, you should also test the graphics card in another computer, just make shure the PSU is strong enough for the GF4.
    Best regards

  • MSI 694D Pro

    Hey there,
I found in an auction site that a board with only one processor is sold cheaply, so I love to give it a shot.
However, is there any way to test the 2nd socket whether it is busted or not? The 1st socket works without the termination CPU, so I guess it can work alone. But the 2nd... ?

    Hi there,
I finally got myself another almost similar 1GHz which has the exactly same stepping, and the same core, and everything else same.
The machine works okay in two processors, but I don't feel a lot much faster, one of the sample games I played powered by Unreal2003 engine doesn't work well - what programs are really dual-processor compatible?
    Here's my final specs:
    MSI 694D Pro2
    2x 1GHz Pentium III EB
    256MB PC133 SDRAM
    Geforce 6200A
edit: I put a 6200A video card inside - it's an 8x AGP, but my board is 4x AGP - so I think it works okay right? The whole installation  of Win2000 and the other operating system is okay and no problems.

  • Thhink have the same problem some help

    Hello.
     :D
just but the MSI 694D Pro2-IR 3 week ago and still try to install.......
I'm having some problems with my computer. try to install windows 2K or XP pro,
start the install no problem but When it reboots the computer hangs. all the light are green on the mobo...??????
    The configuration is as follows:
Board MSI 694D PRO2-IR  with latest Award Bios and Drivers / 2 Pentium III at 1GHz + 2 fans and 3 fan in tower and 450 watt power supply / ATI radeon 8500le graphics Card Network Card / modem 56k /sound blaster
    live platinum / 100meg zip drive / 3 X IBM Disk 7200rpm / DVD-ROM / CD-ROM / 2 X Floppy / 3 X 512Mb ecc registered of memory ETC...
Can someone tell what should I do to install and don't hang when rebooting with this configuration?

I've got the same problem if I use my AGP Geforce4 Card and place my Genius Sound Card in PCI slot 1. Moving the sound card towards the AGP (slot 6) makes the booting almost impossible.
I know there are very few chances that the cause of the problem is the same, but try removing the sound card and see what happens.

  • MSI-6321, PIII850 Bios Settings

I am having some real difficulties getting my MS-6321 (MSI 694D Pro2) board setup correctly.  I am using 2 sticks of Micron PC133 CAS2 256MB non-ECC'd DIMM's.  My problem is that I cannot get the board to recognize my PIII 850's.  I have dropped in a 433Mhz Celeron (SL3BA) and everything is peachy.  :D
However, when I drop in one of the PIII into CPU socket 1, the board just hangs.  I haven't tried both CPU's yet since I cannot get only one to funciton.  The spec code of both PIII-850's is SL4MC.  During boot up, the system recognizes the CPU but during the memory test does strange things.  Sometimes it won't run the memory test at all - it just hangs immediately after the line where it recognizes the CPU.  Of the times that it does run the memory test, it stops at some arbitrary point partially through the test.  It usually only makes a few MB into the test and then hangs.  ?(
I have tried both v5.1 and v5.2 of the BIOS.  Any suggestions?
    Again the hardware:
    PSU:  400W
    Board:  MSI 694D Pro2-IR v2.0
    CPU's:  Celeron PPGA 433Mhz SL3BA (works)
                Intel FC-PGA 850MHz/100MHz FSB SL4MC
                (doesn't work)
    Memory:  Micron/Crucial PC133 non-ECC CAS2 256MB DIMM
BIOS:  versions 5.1 and 5.2 without success.

VIA chipsets are known to disslike many banks of RAM.
The best way is to use registered RAM (expensive) or to use single sided sticks which makes it easyer.
Each slot has 2 banks! Each side of a RAM stick is a bank! (unless it uses only 4 chips on each side, in this case it is still a single sided/ single bank stick).
You can try the VIA 4 way interleave enabled patch from here  (it can cause crashes in some cases).

  • Problem with Geforce4 Ti4600 AGP4X

well I tried searching the forums but I couldn't find a thread that pertained to my problem :/, so: I have the MSI Geforce4-Ti4600 AGP4X card, but when I use it I see lines running down my monitor. The picture is still there (sometimes), but there are vivid lines of color that run vertically on the screen maybe a centimeter wide. So right now I'm using my GF2 ULTRA, but I was thinking that if I couldn't get any help on here I'd go ahead and return the card on warranty...and by the way could someone explain to me how that works? Thanks for any help.

  • What is the diffrence between K7T266 Pro and Pro2?

What is the diffrence between the pro and the pro 2, besides the pro2 being red and having the link lights. Upto what CPU and what type can the pro 1.0 handle? Also, can it be moded to fit a better cpu? Anyone know?
    -Nick

    Pro has the KT266 chipset
    Pro2 has the KT266A chipset
KT266A has improvements that increase performance, and the Pro2 can be modified to fit Thoroughbred CPUs.
The Pro (KT266) can only accept up to the Athlon 2000+ palomino.  Also, overclocking the FSB disables USB; this was fixed with the KT266A.

  • Which graphic card upgrade for Mac Pro2,1?

    I just bought a Mac Pro2,1 2x3.0 GHz Quad-core with NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT: HP LP3065 - 30" display 2560x1600, where everything is a bit too small.
If I change the resolution at all, even the first choice 2048x1536, everything gets bigger as desired, but a bit fuzzy.
Will a better card allow me to have different resolutions and stay crisp as when at 2560x1600?
I'm not a gamer, filmmaker or doing any rendering or even watching movies. I just want things bigger. I'm a web and graphics designer (72 dpi) and need clarity and crispness.
Apple recommended either the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB or the 8600. But they could tell me if it would solve my issue/needs.
Can anyone recommend one/some. I will spend $400+ or if essential more.
    Thanks,
    Steven

For almost all monitors the maximum resolution is also the "native" resolution. If you use anything besides the "native" resolution your display will look fuzzy or slightly out of focus. This is because the monitor is designed with a certain amount of pixels and when you decrease the resolution (make things look bigger) you're forcing your monitor to artificially make pixels bigger so that fewer pixels fill the entire screen. If the number of pixels isn't even and it can't divide them properly it looks fuzzy. For example, if you can set the resolution to exactly half of the native resolution it won't look nearly as bad. However, setting your 30" monitor to 1280x800 (half of 2560x1600) is going to look HUGE and it would be a big waste of all that screen real estate.
Unlike TV's (where the resolution is basically the same for all sizes) you don't buy a bigger monitor to make things look bigger, you buy a bigger monitor to fit more things on the screen. For some, the unfortunate side effect of this is that things appear "smaller." This happens when the number of pixels increases more than the physical size of the monitor increases. When this happens there are more pixels in a given space, thus the pixels are actually smaller. This is usually desired because a monitor with more pixel density (smaller pixels) will produce sharper looking images.
The fuzziness you described is going to be apparent on all monitors, it's just more noticeable on monitors with higher native resolutions. If you go back to the apple store and look at the 24" you'll see it now that you're looking for it .
It's not a great solution, but you can increase the font size in most programs in the preferences menu, or you can turn on the zoom feature in the Universal Access section of System Preferences.

    Hi,
I have a problem with installation of winXP SP1 on my computer. First i got a blue screen in the first step of installation (windows loads drivers, then freezes).  It said that acpi.sys is the problem. I disabled it and then the problem was irq not less... . Then i disabled
internal cache,  system bios cacheable and shadowing options and installation started but the computer was too slow ( it took about an hour to copy the files on hard disk). After the installation was finished i put back the fields internal cache to writeback and c00 32k shadow to cached and left system bios cacheable on disabled ( i read in the manual that it might be a reason for system hangups) to speed it up.  For a while it seemed like it was working ok, i installed the drivers, software... but  tomorrow everything up. windows started to freeze when i tried to encode mp3's from audio cd's, when i tried to install new sofware...
I dont know what to do and don't want to disable   internal cache because of the huge system slowdown...

    Hi!
What can your PSU provide in terms of ampères?
Load BIOS setup defaults. Open case.
Have the HDD and the CDRW on different IDE channels and cables, with both as Master respectively at the end of the cable.
    Install VIA 4in1 drivers.
When everything works, make proper BIOS adjustments.
    Best wishes, and good night!
Can't provide the data about my PSU because i'm not at home right now.
    I will do it tomorow.
Cables are already set up like that.
