6ft Sync Cable Or longer

Why does Apple not make a 6ft or longer maybe a 10ft Sync cable for the Touch or Iphone or Ipad?
They sell a Sync docking station, But do they think maybe some people have Desktop Computers on the floor and a 39" cable is not going to reach. Most desktops are 32" tall and you most likely will not reach the top of the desk, or if it does only the edge.
What is so hard about making a long one?
If they do not think people want them, Have they done a search for 6ft Sync cable?

I know there are other vendors that make USB or longer Sync cables. But one problem you run into is most after market docking stations make them to accept a OEM plug from apple, so then you have to get a USB extension cable to extend the limited reach of the Short OEM cable apple makes.
I also have had it show on my Phone that the cable being used is not compatible with Apple, It works most of the time, but every once in awhile it will not accept the connection. If apple wants you to use their cable then make one that is longer than 39 inches and that is my point. If you want to use only your cable than make one that is longer. Say 6ft or 10Ft would be great.

  • Update 10.2.2 older ipod/iphone sync cables no longer work.

Update 10.2.2. I updated to 10.2.2 and my older ipod/iphone sync cables no longer work. Im talking about the cables with the longer connector and the connector locks not the new style that is a short plug with no lock. Anyone else having this issue?
Tried normal steps, reinstall restart etc. No change. I'm at work and the cable works fine on 10.2.1.1 something in the update must have changed.

On your computer go to the control panel (hover in the lower right corner) then programs, add/remove programs
Uninstall iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Service, Apple Application Support then go to apple.com and redownload and reinstall iTunes and try again.
You won't lose any content, you're not deleting that, just the programs that access them.
What is thought to happen is that sometimes a new version of itunes doesn't update the drivers in those other two programs. The only way to update the drivers is to force it by uninstalling the programs which allows itunes to write the correct ones.
My iPad and iPod did exactly the same thing and this is how I fixed it.

  • Found longer sync cable!

Since my wife got an iPhone 3G, I've been looking for a longer sync cable. Our main computer is a desktop PC that sits on the floor under my desk. The original 3.3 ft. cable reaches to a front USB port, but that's just asking to be snagged by one of us walking in front of the computer. It won't reach from the top of the desk, to the back of the desk, then to the back of the computer.
My search found some online options, such as http://www.cablejive.com/xlSync. However, I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada, so ordering from the US is a bit of pain.
I tried some USB extension cables I already had, but they sometimes wouldn't work: phone not detected, or sync hangs part way through. Plus, an extension cable just adds another connection that can get messed up.
I've kept looking in local stores and finally found one! The Walmart in Surrey, BC on 88'th Ave has a 6 ft. cable that looks identical to the original, just longer. The brand is Onn, model #ON4016C, and sells for C$10.00. It says it works for both iPod and iPhone. So far, it has worked without fail on my computer.
I hope this helps others in Canada that are looking for a longer sync cable.
    Clark.

It's the same as the iPod Touch and latest iPod Nano. I have all three devices and it doesn't matter which cable, the iPhone will charge and sync.

  • EOS 70D - nowhere to attach sync cable

Hi everyone, just hoping to get some direction re triggering studio lighting with my Canon 70D that's just arrived.
A long time photographer I am however just venturing into the world of studio lighting and have this month just set up a small home studio. With no formal training I'm learning as I go (thank goodness for youtube!) and tomorrow will be my third studio shoot so definitely lots to learn.
For my first couple of shoots I used my Canon 40D with a sync cable but my 40D died last week and I have just received the 70D which I have just found out does not have a plug for a sync cable.
I believe that I should be able to use my speed light to trigger my strobes but am a complete novice when it comes to such things and must say that I don't find the settings on the speedlights to be very intuitive.
I've read that another option is a hotshoe adapter that will allow me to plug my cable in to it. Perhaps there are even more options? If I can avoid having a speedlight attached I guess that would make my life easier, easier to move around, less weight etc.
My ultimate goal is to have only the strobes fire and not the speed light itself.
My lighting equipment is as follows:
1 Digiliter YJB-G300 (which can be used as a slave)
1 Bowens Prolite 41A (which I've only used as the master connected to my camera with a sync cable)
    1 430EX Canon Speed light
    1 550EX Canon Speed light
    All suggestions gratefully accepted.

The good news is that you have lots of options, but that's probably the bad news too
The easiest answer is that yes, you can get an adapter that slides into the hotshoe and has a PC port if you want to go old school and use cables.  It's simple enough and cheap enough, but there are much better options.
One option is to use a flash as a master flash to signal the others.  The 550 can be used as a master, but your 70D's built in flash should be able to do the same.  But you'll only be able to use the Canon speedlights using this function (unless your monos have an optical sensor, but you can buy these).  You can also set it so that the flash fires to trigger the other flashes, but doesn't affect the exposure.
The option above is dependent on line of sight, which can become a nuissance if using modifiers.  Using radio frequency triggers gets past this limitation, and is the standard method these days.  If you're ok using manual only (the monos are only manual anyways) you can get really cheap triggers.  Pocket Wizards are the gold standard, but expensive.  Yongnuo is the 'gold standard' of generic options.  I highly recommend the RF-603 II.  They're about $30 for a pair, you'll need 5 total (one goes in the hot shoe as a trigger, the other 4 will trigger your 4 flashes).
There's a lot of good information out there, as you've found on YouTube.  I highly, highly recommend going through the Strobist blog.  It's geared towards using speedlights, but there's some discussion of studio lights, and much of the information is universal anyway:

  • Sync cable question

I just got a new ipod, and the sync cable included with it isn't long enough to use it where I want to. I plan to get a dock/cradle, and I want to know if I buy a USB extension cable to lengthen the sync cable, will it cause any problems. I'm wondering if it would slow down the transferring of music, etc.

    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

I'm 99% sure the Universal Dock does have the pins (and therefor supports video out).

  • 30-pin to VGA cable no longer by this  be

I just updated to 7.1.1 iOS on my iPad 3.  Now my 30-pin to VGA (apple branded) cable no longer works.  As soon as I plug it in, I get a message "this accessory is not supported by this ipad."  The cable was used nearly everyday before the update and Apple TV is not an option in my application.  Any ideas on how to get the cable to work again?

    Have you tried:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • IPod Touch 4G White doesn't work on Sync Cable

When I try to sync or charge my iPod via sync cable, it doesn't work. My computer does not recognize my iPod. However, it works well when I use my universal iPod dock (using same sync cable). My concern is, the universal iPod dock is not that handy. I cannot carry it all the time just to charge my iPod. Is there a setting that made my itouch unable to recognize sync cables? I want to be able to sync and charge without using my universal iPod dock.
    Thank you.

Go to the Music section of your Library (very top-left corner) and see if your songs are there. The "Purchased" playlist may have been deleted or gotten corrupted, but if that happens it's not a big deal because your music should still be in your main Music Library.
If your music is NOT in the Music section of your Library, then go to the iTunes Store homepage and find the Quick Links list on the right side. At the top of that list, click Purchased and you can redownload all of your previous content that you might have lost.

  • Sync cable

    Hello all,
I have a 60GB ipod and the just got the AV Connection Kit. I love the Docking station. The only problem with the docking station is the sync cable. I do not leave my PC on 24-7 so to charge the Ipod I have to unplug the USB cable from the PC and plug it into the power adapter. Then when the PC is on I have to unplug the cable from the power adapter back to the PC. My question is does apple make a sync cable that has two USB connectors? One for syncing and one for power. This way if the PC is off the ipod can still charge. Thanks

Just a suggestion, could you not leave the USB cable that came with the AV kit plugged into the A/C adapter and the USB cable that came with the iPod plugged into your PC.
No need to purchase another cable even if one was available

  • Sync cable for my Tungsten E2

I just got my new Tungsten E2 handheld unit.  the directions say to plug in the sync cable and the power cable to charge it for 3 hours before setting it up, but the slots for the sync cable takes up all of the slots when I plug it in and there is no hole left for the power cable.  did I get the wrong sync cable sent to me??
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

The Setup Guide for the E2 shows the two plugs which are included with new E2 units.  The USB cable is a two-prong plug, and the A/C cable is a skinny plug which fits into its own slot on the right.  Is your E2 brand new?
The older plugs which came with my older T5 had the USB and power connectors built into one plug, as I recall.
