6G iPod Nano Volume Spike Issue

I tried checking the thread on this matter but could not find any discussion on it.  I noticed that there is a sudden spike in volume particularly when switching from one song to another.  This can happen when double clicking any iPod compatible earphone (or even Apple's own) controls.  It does not always occur with every track but occurs often enough about 30% of the time.  Is anyone encountering any of this issue.  I did not encounter this problem with my last gen iPod using the very same playlist.  Thanks all in advance.

Are all of the tracks on your Nano encoded in the same format?  Are there any EQ settings enabled?
Ideally, it would be nice to sync these tracks to another 7G Nano to determine if it's an issue with your particular Nano or not.

  • Ipod Nano volume jumps

The volume line keeps moving to silent so that nothing can be heard for more than a few seconds.

  • 6th gen iPod Nano volume keeps going down on its own

It's been getting worse lately. It started happening towards the end of each of my run, but now even when I leave it on my desk, I can see the volume just move down on its own to zero. It is very unreliable and during long runs, I have to keep battling with the volume (it goes down on its own, and I have to bring it back up again). Shutting the iPod Nano off and turning it back on doesnt help.
Anyone else encounters this? What should I do? My iPod Nano is about 1 year old.

This issue is usually the result of the Nano coming into contact with moisture (likely from your workouts).  Try putting the iPod into an uncooked bag of dried rice and leaving it sit for a few days.  This should absorb any moisture in the iPod.
After the few days are up, give it another whirl.  If the problem persists, connect the Nano to iTunes and restore it to factory settings.
Otherwise, the damage may be permanent, meaning you'll need to have your iPod serviced or replaced.

  • My 6th generation ipod nano volume adjusts itself and turns down volume without me touching it.  This is the second ipod on which this has happened. I can't be the only one with this problem. Help!

My ipod nano 6th generation has started changing the volume while music is playing. It doesn't matter whether I am running or sitting.  It will turn volume down to zero in the middle of a song.  This happened on my last ipod a few months ago and I returned it and got a new one.  This is my second grey one.  I don't want to have to return it again, but I might.

Take your iPod Nano back to the Apple Store.  Let them see what you are seeing.  Only this time............

  • IPod Nano freezing + Itunes issue

My Ipod nano 6th gen was working fine since i bought it until today - today when i tried to play the Nano on shuffle it would simply freeze. I could hear the clicks but nothing would happen - it wouldn't play and i couldn't move to another function. i would have to reset the Ipod to get access again. Same thing would happen when i tried to find a song individually - i access a song, click it and then frozen. at the same time as this issue comes up now my itunes cant see my ipod. my computer can see it just fine, just not my itunes.
any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Resetting the Nano was a good first step to solving the problem, but you may need to go a step further.
Open iTunes, and plug in the USB sync cable; leave it in. You'll see an option in the middle of the iTunes display that asks if you might want to restore the Nano. This will erase your playlists, but if you have them backed up with iTunes, that shouldn't be a problem. Let the Nano automatically enter your playlists and files; make sure the transfer is completely finished before detaching the cable.
Everything should be back to normal. Let me know how the intervention went, so I can make sure it went well. And others with a similar problem can refer to the data as well.

  • 1st Gen Ipod Nano  - Shuffle Songs Issue

Everyday I take my 1st gen ipod nano with me for a walk and just select shuffle songs. My walk takes about an hour, but my nano in shuffle mode seems to play alot of the same songs over and over everyday in shuffle mode. I have almost 800 songs on the nano. Is there someway of getting my nano to shuffle up the songs a little better so that I'm not hearing the same songs over and over?

I am having the exact same issue with my iPod, 5th generation. I would like to know if there is a way to change the setup so it will shuffle it better.

  • IPod Nano Ratings Sync Issue

Since I got my iPod Nano 5G, my song ratings seem to be changing arbitrarily in iTunes. This is a hassle because I use the song ratings to make sure music I like is on the iPod. I have tried updating iTunes, the iPod software, and restoring the iPod, but nothing seems to work. Is there anything else I can try? Does anyone else have this problem?

  • IPod nano power button issue

I am unable to turn on ipod nano when it is not plugged to iTunes. I suspect it to be a possible battery issue. The device works normal when connected to PC. The moment it is ejected and plugged out, the device itself switches off. What could be the issue?

Yes.  It sounds like the iPod's battery is on its last leg.  If you want to keep using your iPod you'll want to have the battery replaced either by Apple, a third party company, or you can even buy the replacement part and swap it out yourself.

  • IPod Nano - volume not working

My 3rd generation Ipod Nano's volume stopped working after a software update. I have tried the 5 Rs: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore
    1. I checked the head-phones
    2. I tried resetting my iPod.
    3. I removed and reinstalled itunes to my computer.
    4. I finally restored my Ipod Nano to it's original settings and the volume still does not work.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Try restarting your device. If that doesn't work, take it to an Apple store. If it is less than a year old and just stopped working, they will replace it for free (be sure to back it up to iTunes first). If you dropped it, you will have to pay because Apple will not replace a device due to "Human Error." If it is more than a year old, you will either have to pay to get it fixed, or have to pay to get it replaced.

  • Ipod Nano Volume level

Hi, I have got an Ipod Nano 2nd Generation and use earphone that sit on your ears not in ears as I find them uncomfortable. The only problem with this is that I find that the volume is not very loud, I have it on the maximum, I know there is a volume limit set on all mp3 players but does anyone know if there is any way of making it louder?

At this point, the software people with iPods purchased in EU countries were using to remove the cap do not work on the 2nd gen nano. No word on when it will. So other than maxing your volume limiter and trying more expensive earphones there really isn't anything you can do right now.

  • Ipod nano volume control

I have an ipod nano, and I was messing with my ipod in my pocket and somehow locked my volume control so it will only go up so loud. I've tried going under "Volume lock" in the "Settings" area, but its asking for a combination and I don't know what it is, any suggestions how to take the lock off or find out what my combination is? Thanks! You can also email me with an answer, [email protected]

  • My ipod nano volume limit?!

Well, my ipod nano second generation has very low volume. Even set to full under settings and normal, its not even as loud as my old mp3 player.
But my mates ipod is very loud when he turns it up, is there a reason why mine dosn't play sounds loud?
    Its english;
I checked the headphones on his and there is no problem with those.

My iPod nano was bought from US and it was loud enough when needed but after the latest software update, the volume levels went down. So, I guess I got the EU package and that explains the change.

  • Ipod nano volume limit locked

    Hi
I think the kids have set a combination code on the volume limit of my iPod Nano. Can I get it off and how? If I have to do some kind of reset can I re-sync my playlists from my iTunes library? Have over 1000 songs on and would hate to have to import/purchase again.
    All help gratefully received.
    Thanx.

Restore your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists choose no and it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7
