6i on Solaris - minimum patch revision

Does anyone know where I can find the Forms Server 6i installation guide? It doesn't appear to be on technet.
I need to know the minimum patch revision levels for running 6i on Solaris 2.6/5.6
Also, has anyone ever run into this error:
kgepop: no error frame to pop to for error 0
thanks!

Application server (OAS 9i or earlier) can be istalled only on server (WEB Server machine).
For Forms/Reports you can install them on every workstation. But some enterprises prefer to install them on the server and somehow to give access to Forms/Reports Developer to every user.
looking in my archive I found the following for you (I copied it from one answer):
Platform Oracle8i/NT4.0 - Clients MS Windows (95, 98, NT)
We configure our clients so that Developer 2.1 (Forms, Reports, graphs) runtime code can be run
from
the network, rather having to install on each client PC. We paste the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE
key into the Windows registry of each client. The key contains the location of the Oracles files on
the file Server. This makes it very quick & simple to set up clients.
The problem is now we have the need for ODBC to be set up on the clients as well, for MS Access
connections
to the Database. I've pasted the registry key for the ODBC DSN onto the ODBC key but obviously more
is required. Has anyone got this done before?
No, I haven't done that for ODBC but it may be possible.
I agree with you that this network approach makes it easy to set up Oracle client machines.
Depending
on the speed of your server and your network though, the response time penalty for running Oracle
Forms
from a server can be significant. It is not difficult to install the Oracle client software on one
client, then replicate that to the other clients. The users may like the response times much
better
that way. Also, if you make any changes to Oracle Forms or especially to PLL files, you will not
be
able to deploy them on a server while anyone is using the application, if everyone runs it from the
server.

  • Solaris 10 - patch for new DST 2007 changes

I am trying to track down the one patch I need for the new standard for daylight savings time date changes that took effect in 2007. Each time I get one patch and read the readme file, it tells me I need another patch for the U.S. Energy Policy Act for 2005. I am just about to install Solaris 10 patch 119689-07. I don't need any other patch updates, just the bare minimum new DST patch. Thanks for your help.

    119689-07 is obsoleted by 118836. http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-21-119689-07-1
118836-36 is latest rev of this patch -- the kernel patch, whic has latest timezone data for the OS
You'll need to make sure java has latest tz data, too:
    http://java.sun.com/javase/timezones/
As far as I know, these are the bare minimums for a system to function properly re: latest DST schedule

  • Question about kernel patch revisions

    Hello
Installing a recommended patch cluster for Solaris 9. I've noticed there are serveral patches for the kernel. Why is this? Also when I type uname -a and it shows the "revision" of the system, what is this referring to?
    Thanks in advance.

When the kernel patch starts getting too big and unwieldy, they create a new kernel patch and list the previous patch as a prereq.
The revision referred to in uname -a is the kernel patch revision.

  • Changes in Solaris 10 Patch Access Policy

    Solaris 10 x86 User Community
As of November 29th, Sun will be changing its Solaris 10 patch access policy. Now that Solaris 10 is freely available, support services require the purchase of a Sun Service Plan.
Under this new policy, access to patches is restricted. Security fixes and hardware driver updates are publicly available for free, but access to all other patches requires a Sun Service Plan.
Please see http://www.sun.com/service/sunconnection/solaris10patches.html for available access options.
Please send any questions to [email protected]

    hi,
As a technical specialist I can understand everyone needs revenues to keep on going. But $120 for a min. level service plan it's really foolish on the policy makers. This would result in severe dent for the Solaris initiative itself in the long run. There should be reasonable pricing model, especially when Sun is projecting Solaris as an alternative to Linux! I do strongly suggest as a loyal Sun developer since 1996 to re-consider the service plan rates.
    thanks,

    Hi
The setup looks OK and you've tried to ping the default gateway of 134.99.12.1 and it just hangs?
Has this problem just occurred and there have been no material changes to the workstation ( ie it hasn't been moved, repatched, or had a change of IP etc )?
This looks as though there might be a hardware problem with your network card or it could be a problem with the switch/hub your host is plugged into.
If possible boot to the OK> prompt on your workstation and at the boot prompt type:
    watch-net-all
This should check your interfaces and show them sniffing packets.
If this appears to be functioning correctly, I'd start looking at the hub/switch your plugged into. One scenario that comes to mind was that I had a similar problem to yours and spent the best part of 2 days fiddling with the server. It turned out that the switch we were connected to had been changed to implement a security feature whereby the switch will only accept packets on a particular port from a specific MAC address ( presumably this stops people plugging in there laptops or other machines into switches ).

  • Solaris 10 patch clusters

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I didn't see a better/more relevant spot for it.
Is there a way to download the Solaris 10 without having a SunSolve account? When I tried to download it I get redirected to a login/register page which requires a SunSolve support contract.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
    -Will

    Hello Will,
To download a Solaris 10 patch cluster a service contract is required. There are no alternate sources !
Individual patches that fix security issues or patches required by these (security) patches are available for <b>free</b>.

  • Recommended Solaris 10 patches are not available at 9:00am EDT

I tried patching around 8:45am to 9:00am EDT. I could not install the easy Solaris 10 patches for:

    138315-01
    139421-01
The updatemanager/smpatch messages mentioned that it could not find the patch. I suspect either that the patching server has not posted the patches yet or it is not fully up. I am sure that Sun is working on it.

  • Filetransfer Slow after applying Solaris 8 Patch

    Hi,
I have applied Solaris 8 Patches on SUNF V240 to upgrade from SunOS 5.8 Generic_117250-22 TO SunOS DSSPDAPPSGO2 5.8 Generic_117350-33.
After applying the patch, the filetransfer between the SUNFV240 & my IBM AIX (Version 5.3 ML09) becomes very slow. (eg. 70 MB file need abt 20-30 min to complete.
Before the PATCH, it only need less than a minute.
These 2 servers are connected via a network hub, and set to 100 Full Duplex on the server end.
Has anyone know what cause this & what is the solution. Thanks
    regards,

Yes, I have made the 100 full duplex on both servers (Solaris & AIX), but still does not solved the problem.
The only thing I can't change is the setting at the Hub (DIGI MIL-H3130 ) which connect both servers, because the HUB is autosensing, and looking at the documentation there is no mention to set (fix) 100 Fullduplex on this hub.
If I bypass this Hub, and use UTP crosscable to connect the two servers, then it is OK.
I have tried to use another DIGI MIL-H3130 hub, also face the same problem.
I just wondering which particular patch causing this problem in Solaris, and whether is there any solution for this.

  • Minimum patch level to be installed in 4.6 & ECC 6.0

    Hi Experts,
Can anybody tell me what are the minimum patches or patch level to be installed while installing 4.6c and ECC 6.0?
    Valuable answers will be rewarded.
    Thanks in advance,
    Suba

    Hi,
I am trying to find the 46D_EXT kernel but i am unable to find the same. The 46D_EXT kernel is not available under archives.
The purpose for which i required the kernel is that i am upgrading a 4.6C, oracle 8.0.6.1, win NT system to ERP 2006. I want to do a system copy of the source system onto a hardware running windows 2003. This can only be done if i have the 4.6D_EXT as per the message above.
Is there a better approach? According to my approach i will do a system copy onto a windows 2003 system --> upgrade oracle to oracle 10g ( using all the steps like first upgrade to oracle 8.1.7 then to oracle 9.2.6 then to oracle 10g) then i will proceed to upgrade the system to ERP 2006.
       Please advise.

  • Minimum Patch Level Required to install Netweaver 7.0 and Portal

    Hello Everyone,
We are currently on ECC6.0 and I need to know what the minimum Patch Level needs to be to install Netwever 7.0 and Portal.
    Thank you,
    Ahhsap

    Hi,
As Sunny suggested, check if you have an existing portal instance.
    If not:
Like I mentioned earlier, if you had upgraded ECC 6 to EHP4, then you need to install a separate NW EHP1 Portal. Since both your existing EHP4 ECC system and the new EHP1 portal are based on Netweaver 7.01 release, your systems will be in a consistent release level. It is recommended to install a separate Netweaver portal instance. SAP no longer recommends dual stack (abap + java) installations.
If you do have an existing portal instance, just upgrade the portal to Netweaver 7.0 EHP1 (if ECC is in EHP4) or latest SP for Netweaver 7.0 (if ECC is =< EHP3). I believe this can be done by either SAP EHPi or JSPM.
    Cheers

  • Solaris package patch creation

I am looking for documentation or procedure regarding Solaris package patch creation.
I have created Solaris packages for an ISV application. Now I'd like to create a Solaris
patch to replace one of those package's binaries - where if the patch is backed out, the
    previous binary is restored.
I have read the Sun Application Packaging Developer's Guide (both 1994 and current),
and the subsection on Patching Packages does not contain sufficient information to
accomplish my goal. I have searched the Net for information, and found other's
    questions and few answers.
Can anyone produce the procedure for Solaris package patch creation?
    Thank you.

Here is why no info is available. Sun advises:
"We cannot make patch building utility publicly available irrespective of the customer having support contract. We suggest you to provide an updated package instead of patches to your customer and tell them to remove the old version and add the new version of the package."
