6K Red Dragon Material edit in Premiere Pro CC

I have a very urgent question, i started yesterday to work for a new company, where I have 6k Material. Here in the company they have still the version of Premiere Pro CS 6. This version didnt accept the 6k material, now i propsed them to buy the CC version, because I heard that I can import 6k material into Premiere Pro CC, is that right? Does the testversion of Premiere Pro work the same like the full version? Just to see, if the 6k material works fine in Premiere Pro CC. I would be very thankful for a fast answer.

The latest version of Premiere Pro does indeed support RED Dragon and the trial version should work just like the full version, but with a time limit.

  • 5.5k HD RED Dragon File Problem in Premiere Pro CC

    Hi everyone!
I am currently editing a project in premiere pro cc which is shot on the new RED Dragon Camera.
Premiere is incredibly awesome in handling all the huge files and displaying them in the timeline.
However I have found out, that some of our materials which are shot at a resolution of 5.5k HD (5376x3024 px) do not display in premiere at all.
I can import the files, I can look at their preferences like white balance, duration and framerates etc. BUT Premiere keeps showing me that yellow banner "Media Pending" whether its in the source monitor or timeline.
All other formats like 6k, 5k, 4.5k at different framerates work just fine.
I am not sure if it is due to this resolution but it's the only difference to the other files which work just fine and were recorded on the same drives a few minutes before that 5.5k material.
After Effects and RedCine X Pro work fine as well.
It might be a bug and I have already reported it to Adobe. But maybe someone has already solved the issue and found a good work around or something.
I have uploaded a 5.5k R3D file to WeTransfer if you want to check it out: http://we.tl/AyokYi4dJw
    OS: Windows 7 (6.1)
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 770 4GB
    CPU: Intel i7 4770k
    Premiere Pro CC (Version 7.2.1.)
    Thanks for your help!

hehe... am currently exporting it from redcineX... that might be a work around for you worse comes to worse ??  kinda creepy but, maybe better than nothin...
mabye there's some metadata type stuff in the head of the file that is messing up your version of PPro cc ...someone should come by soon with your version to test it out...

  • I can edit on Premiere Pro 6 files, but after a dozen keystrokes, the space bar and cursor keys stop working while the save function works

I can edit on Premiere Pro 6 files, but after a dozen keystrokes, the space bar and cursor keys stop working while the save function, render workspace function, export file are still operational. How can I fix it so I may complete my assignment?
Besides DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Creative Suite 6 is the only software on the machine. I am using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Operating System on AMD FX 6100 six-Core Processor at 3.31gHz and 32 GB RAM memory. There are two SLI-bridged GTX680 NVidia cards.
The software was very stable for the last six months, working with 720P proxy files from 2.5K masters (Blackmagic Design Camera). I am working on a feature-length project that exceeds 1000 edits. I have broken the file into 2 one hour segments.
I have deactivated the software before reinstalling the entire OS from scratch. PP6 was very stable for 48 hours. Then the freezing space bar returns. After a dozen strokes into the project, same problem.  I have made cache files store next to originals, I have deleted preview files if they were corrupted and causing instability. Am I missing something?
I have Microsoft Security Essentials for virus protection. I double checked the memory for damage/defect. Nothing says that the motherboard or other components are damaged.
I am in film competition overseas and need to have deliverables in less than a month's time.  I lost the last two weeks troubleshooting and this crisis came at an inopportune moment of the project.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Still getting software freezes but found a way to mitigate for the mean time.
Upon launching Adobe Premiere Pro, hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to launch TaskManager as well.
You will want to highlight Adobe QT32 Server.exe
Right click and select "End Process Tree"
You will get considerable stability in the program, long enough to get timing of cuts done. Be sure to save often.
If the program freezes, do not hit Save. You definitely want to avoid saving the corruption into your TimeLine
CTRL-ALT-DEL to relaunch the TaskManager and highlight Adobe Premiere Pro.exe
    Right-click to "End Process"
No need to reboot the whole system; just launch Premiere Pro again and continue with the session. Note that your work reverted to Last Save.
Hope this helps until the bug is fixed.

  • "Offline material is present" Premiere Pro CC PluralEyes 3

    Hi!
I'm new to both Premiere and to PluralEyes.
I'm editing a multicam concert video.
When trying to export it I get the message "Offline material is present in this export and will be encoded using the offline media graphic". Even though there is no red offline media gaps, and all the files in the Project 'table' are shown as online.
Could someone tell me what I did wrong with my workflow?
    What I did:
Added video files into PluralEyes, synced them there, exported Final Cut Pro XML for Premiere to my desktop.
In Premiere Pro CC, imported the XML file, dragged it to the timeline to start the sequence.
Started editing, everything was fine until I decided to check how it exports. When clicked on File>Export>Media the message about the media being offline appears.
After this I imported all the video files one by one to see if it changes anything but it didn't.
    HELP

I don't think you will see a red line. A red screen that says 'media offline' yes, but no red line. The clip that is off line shows up in my timeline as red, but not the multicam sequence that one would want to export, but the multicam source sequence.
I do not use PluralEyes because rather manually sync then use that - and then when Premiere CC came along, it is able to do the sync'ing by audio no problems (as long as your audio is good).
I won't be able to tell you what you did wrong with your workflow - only guess.
Guess #1 - did PluralEyes change a file name?
Guess #2 - Finall Cut Pro XML have a file name change?
I don't know, pretty lame guesses as I'm starting to draw blanks in thought because you edited and everything was fine until you go to export.
If you are in Premiere CC have you considered using its own syncronization?

  • What is the best way to organise remote collaborative editing with Premiere Pro CC

I am writing to enquire about a solution for a collaborative project between two filmmakers in different countries.  Ideally, we would be able to have a cloud media library that could be referenced by both of us as well as a project folder with work in progress that would allow one of us to review the other’s progress or pick up editing where the other left off.
It is a relatively small scale project and I’m not sure what would be the best platform on which to base it.  We are currently both using Adobe Premiere Pro CC but it is the cloud library aspect which concerns me.  We would need approximately 2TB of space in order to accommodate all of the footage and work in progress sequences.
My immediate thought was to use the cloud storage integrated with CC, but as far as I'm aware there is not an option to increase storage size to the amount we would need.  My second thought was to use something like Google Drive or Dropbox, but someone has told me that it is not suitable due to issues in Premiere Pro referencing the files?  I'm not sure I completely understand the issue, hence the reason for writing.
    Thanks

Adobe sells the Adobe Anywhere platform for collaborative editing, but it's not a realistic option for small-scale projects due to the huge investment in hardware required for the servers. Premiere in desktop mode isn't designed for parallel editing - two people cannot have the same PRPROJ file open at the same time, and you cannot merge changes from two separate copies - so if you're sharing the project file on a cloud service you will have to ensure that only one editor is working at any moment. Without active file locking, that has to be done through a manual process (phoning to confirm handover, etc.).
Sharing your original source footage on a cloud service isn't necessary as Premiere won't be changing those files - so the inexpensive option is to distribute copies on hard drives to both editors, and/or for the primary editor to set up a proxy workflow so the project files are much smaller. Both editors then work of locally-saved copies of the footage and download the updated PRPROJ file from the cloud service when the work hands over. Premiere can rebuild its preview/cache files provided it has the source material and the project file in the same place, so both editors would set up the same absolute folder names - don't work from a My Documents or ~library folder!

  • Adding a "Edited on Premiere Pro" logo to Film End Credits

Hi, long time user of Premiere and Adobe products. I have to say I couldn't have cut my most recent short film project without CS6, and would like some way to show my support by crediting Adobe in the end credits sequence.
Is there an official logo, or format in which I can do so? Or do people just put it in plain text, "This film was edited on Adobe Premiere Pro."?
I've noticed seeing the Avid logo or the "Edited on Final Cut Pro" logo before in movies, just wondering if there was one for Premiere as well.
Appreciate in advance any information regarding this.
    Andrew

    Hi Steve,
I received your private message and contacted the e-mail address, but never got a response. I know I started this thread a month ago, but as I'm putting the finishing touches on the film, I still would like a clear answer.
I've created a logo that I'd like to use, similar to the "Shot on Red" that I've seen in a few films. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/38225717/CutonPremiere.png
I would like to know where I stand on this, whether I am allowed to do something like this, or if I should play it safe and just not credit Adobe at all. The suggestion from Jim doesn't seem to properly address my concern. I'm not looking to partner with Adobe, merely wanting to credit the company's integral role in helping me edit the film.
I know I have seen credits such as "Cut on Avid, Cut on Final Cut Pro," and was just hoping it is as simple as typing that in, or inserting an image into the end credits roll.
Please advise me on how I should proceed. Thank you.

  • Laptop editing with Premiere Pro CS4: what are the most important specs

Laptop Editing: What are the MOST important specs?
Hello everybody, I have been a long time lurker, but I decided to join in and share my voice.
I've been editing, for a while now, various projects of various lenghts shot on my HV20, on an IMac using Adobe Premiere Pro. Actually, I bought the CS4 Extended Production Suite last year  thinking that it made sense to be able to edit, do the coloring and effects+ sound all within the same suite.
AND, it came with OnLocation, wich is, I think, a fantastic tool. I really want to be able to record and monitor my future shoots using OnLocation. I've seen how useful monitors and scopes are on set, and the idea of being able to shoot in HD and actually checking the focus on something larger than a few inches is very appealling!
So a laptop is in my future. Now, what are the most important specs?
    I could buy 1) a barely used Macbook pro early 08- 17" HD led display ,4g Ram ddr2 ,nvidia 8600M GT 512 VRAM ,800Mhz BUS, 200G 7200HD
and have enough money left to buy an Apple Display 30" refurb
    OR 2) a new Macbook pro 17, 4 g Ram ddr3, 512 VRAm, 4g Ram ddr3, double procsessors 9400M+9600M GT 512 VRAM, 1066 BUS, 500G 7200HD
and wait for a second display!
Plus, of course, a portable External Scratch Drive on the Express Card. Now, if that fast drive is handling the footage, could'nt I settle for a 5400HD in the laptop,, they seem much less prone to problems-clicking noise, heat-than the 7200, especially in the new unibody model. Is 800 versus 1066 BUS a terrible trade-off? In terms of secondary displays , I've heard less than lukewarm things about the new Apple 24 LED (glossy is no-no for me).
My intentions are to make documentaries and short fictions as well. I make a living as an actor so I don't need to be performing as a director/editor business wise!
I do want to explore that side of the craft, in a professional and enjoyable way though. I know that, in addition to the laptop, I will get a MacPro in a few years.
Thanks a lot for the inputs!

Successful video editing (as compared to tear your hair out video editing) requires at least two hard drives... one for all software and one for all data... some people use 3 drives, with data on one and scratch files on the 3rd drive
I'm not sure about software, but everything I've ever read in this forum says 5400 is NOT fast enough for the data drive
If you want to edit video... you have to buy the hardware that works

    That is a 17" right? I am going to buy a 15" I think.
The biggest problem with the Asus in question is that it will be really hard to upgrade it and I still did not find a model with SSD.
    I found a comparision review here:  http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Asus-N550JV-CN201H-Notebook.98311. 0.html
The Asus scores better in the cinebench sector (slightly with OpenGL and much with CPU)  and the Lenovo is better in the Pcmark7 and the 3dmark11. What are these tests? and which one is more important when it comes to video editing?
Thank you again for your time and efferts
P.S. I am studying the article about Hard disks, it is really interesting!!! thanks
Correct it is a 17-inch, and of course it weighs and costs slightly more than a 15.6-inch
It is a very simple task to upgrade the unit to an dual SSD system, and memory upgrade is very easy.  You undo one screw on the bottom and (below) this is what you see.  Two disk drive carriers with my SSD's installed and two 8 GB SODIMM add on RAM modules
Those benchmarks have very little to do with editing with Premiere, there is only one real comperhensive Premiere benchmark it is our PPBM.

  • New Mac Pro (late 2013) crashes / freezes while rendering or editing in Premiere Pro CC

We recently purchased a new Mac Pro desktop (Late 2013, 16GB memory, D700 Graphic Card, 2.7 GHz -12 Core, OSX 10.9.3) and we are running Adobe CC on it. When using Premiere Pro CC (7.2.2) I am having major issues while rendering and editing. About 50% of the time when I try to render it starts off real fast then just freezes. This happens in Premiere and Media Encoder. Sometimes I can just Force Quit Premiere or Media Encoder and other times I have to do a hard restart on the entire computer because the entire computer freezes. The computer will also occasionally freeze whenever doing simple editing or stacking layers. The  computer will also just decide to suddenly stop and restart when editing or doing simple tasks like browsing the web. Additionally there has been several times if the render does finish, the final video will have digital glitches throughout the video. I have to redo the render once or twice and it will finally be fine. This all is happening several times a day. This never happened on our previous Mac Pro, but we were not running Mavericks. I used Migration Assistant to transfer from old computer to new computer. So I don't know if this is an a problem with the actual Mac Pro, Mavericks, graphic card or Adobe? But right now I am very frustrated as you can imaging spending all this money for a computer that has been giving us more issues than our previous computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Roughcut sequence from Prelude does not appear to be "seamlessly" editable in Premiere Pro CC

    Hi,
    Please Help.
I have been working on a film and created the entire rough cut, using both entire clips and sub clips, in Prelude CC. Once I sent the rough cut to Premiere Pro CC, I expected that I could "seamlessly" (as advertised) continue editing the same sequence of clips and sub clips in Premiere Pro. When I drag and drop the rough cut file that appears in Premiere Pro into the Premiere Pro timeline, it appears as a single block (is that what a "nested sequence" is? is there a way to un-nest a sequence?) instead of a sequence of clips and sub clips.
What is worse, the sub clips do not transfer to Premiere Pro, only the entire original clips. Even if I had to re-create the sequence of clips and sub clips in Premiere Pro, it would at least be better if I didn't have to re-do all of the sub clips. This is incredibly frustrating. I hope there is a solution (other than waiting to buy the next version of the same product).
I would give up and assume that the products just were not designed for what I was expecting them to be designed for, except that in the video tutorials, both within Adobe and elsewhere, the two programs seem to work just as I expected them to (that is probably where I got that expectation actually). When the guy in the video sends a rough cut from Prelude to Premiere Pro, It pops up in Premiere Pro as an editable sequence of clips and sub-clips.
    Thank you.

Often when sequences come in as 'one lump' this check box need to be altered

  • Import 1080p h.264 mov to editi with premiere pro?

i am a nikon d800 user , and i like to use adobe premiere pro to edit the 1080p video clips for sharing with my friends, but the compressed H.264 MOV videos from D800 can not be playbacked or edited smoothly on many editing softwares such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas , Windows Moive Maker and so on.
With the help of my friend Tim, i got a top video converter, it works very well .
if you wanna to got the more detailed information , you can refer here:
Nikon 1080P H.264 MOV imported to edit with Adobe Premiere Pro

What version of Premiere Pro are you using? I had no trouble whatsoever importing or editing a video off of my D800 in Premiere Pro CS6. No type of conversion was necessary.
As far as the playback, without NVidia's CUDA hardware acceleration for Adobe's Mercury Playback Engine, software acceleration is not going to keep up at 30 fps. Change the playback resolution to 1/2 (every other frame) for smooth video playback. This is for display purposes only. The video itself will still be fully processed.
