6th gen nano question

Question I've used my 6th gen nano for 9 months.  now, when I select an album, it keeps repeating the first song.  Any ideas?  Thanks

Thanks - nice that not a total loss.
but I am afraid that with its small size, its going to end up in washing machine quite a bit.

  • Questions about 6th gen nano fm radio

Is it possible to dock your 6th gen nano in the 30 pin car adapter and listen to the nano fm radio over your car stereo speakers?
Does the car act as the antenna?
My problem is that i have a U. S. spec. VW Golf, driving it in Germany, where my U. S. spec car radio will not fine tune into German channels and I thought this might be a possible fix.  yes or no?

If this is the case (moisture damage) I'd be quite surprised.
I clip it to my waistband, with the screen facing outward. It doesn't really get sweaty at all, maybe the backside of the metal clip, and the screen stays relatively dry. Maybe my hands are sweaty, but this is supposed to be a workout-oriented MP3 player for active people, right? I am just using it on an indoor elliptical trainer, and it never sees rain or dripping moisture.
When I get my (fourth) unit, I can try clipping it to my outer pocket, but if this is the problem they are not sealing it very well. What is strange is that the unit itself looks very tightly sealed from the outside and it's hard to believe they cannot do better.

  • IPod nano 6th gen watch question

When I press the on/off button on the side of the 6th gen nano it brings up the current playing song and artwork.  When I first bought it and hadn't played music on it yet it would bring up the clock first.  I want to delete the "current playing" song from memory so when I wake up the nano it shows the time first.  Anyone know how to do this??
    Thanks in advance,
    Chad

B-Rock, thanks for the reply but this only seems to work when the iPod has fully shut down in sleep mode.  If I press the side button 20 minutes later to check the time it still brings up the current song.  Pretty frustrating since I use the nano as a watch 99% of the time and my iPhone or iPad for music.

    Hey Stan1958,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with your iPod nano and iTunes. Based on your symptoms, you may find the following resources helpful in resolving this issue:
    Windows
iPod appears in Windows but not in iTunes
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows
iTunes reports that "iTunes cannot recognize this iPod at this time"

my apple 6th gen nano turns on but only has a bright light without images

    Hi fejevitzky,
Your question, "Based upon that, I believe you are telling me you do not think it is the BIOS--is that correct?" Yes, as long as you dont see any "white" light reveal from LCD bezel back side while with blank screen state. LCD bezel is the cover around LCD, most design put LED modeule at the bottom side next to LCD. While back light is not on during boot up sequence, that means system doesnt have chance to get BIOS program running. It also means, it stuck at state of hardware bring up. Normally motherboard related.

6th Gen Nano not recognized by itunes 11.3

    Hello Diablo6vct,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning device recognition issues:

    Symptoms
Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch may not appear under Devices in iTunes after you connect it to your Windows PC. Any of the following may also occur:
The device cannot be restored in iTunes.
An exclamation point, question mark, plug symbol, or "X" appears next to the device's entry in Device Manager.
During an update or restore, the device may no longer be recognized by iTunes.

  • 6th gen nano with nike + playlists don't shuffle

I switched from 1st gen nano to the 6th gen nano last week and one thing that I noticed is my playlists when hooked up to nike + sensor don't shuffle. I hear the same songs in order every run! It's frustrating because the 1st gen nano if shuffle is turned on for songs will shuffle your playlist songs in nike + mode the 6th gen doesn't. I shook the heck out of it and still it's the same song. Turned off shake when shuffle to see if their's a shuffle choice nope. Anyone else find this frustrating?
I have a call in to tech support this morning going to ask them this question seems I missing something or the 6th is missing this option.

I have the very same problem! And the calibration is a pain but it's getting better. "Default calibration... is accurate for many users" pshh...
You should let me know if you find out a way to get past this!

  • HT4316 my 6th gen nano won't p/u any radio signals when I plug in earbuds

My 6th gen nano doesn't seem to recognize the earbuds are inserted.  It tells me to insert them in order to p/u radio signals when they are already in.  How can I get FM radio to work? Thx!

I don't understand why you only recvd 5pts, I clicked on "This solved my question", as it did.
I had tried 3 sets of headphones but not inserted them far enough in, afraid of damaging my
new gadget.  I was quite frustrated.  Anyway, I suppose 5 beats 0, thank you again and I
    apologize for points mixup.

  • Does the 6th gen nano have a mecanical or piezoelectric accelerometer?

I know that there are basically two types of pedomenters: mecanical/spring action and piezoelectric. They maybe 2 or three axis acceleromenters but when it comes to sensors, its one or the other. One has to be vertical to trigger properlly and the other can be thrown in a pocket because it doesn't have to be in a certain position to work. Now this one says that it has a 3 axis acceleromenter but is that mechanical or piezoelectric? I don't hear a click so that makes me think that it must be piezoelectric but you know what they say about assuming things. I can't find this spelled out anywhere except that in the version that required a shoe sensor had a piezoelectric sensor in the shoe. However they say we don't need the shoe sensor anymore, soooooo....does that mean we have it in the 6th gen nano itself? I'd love to know.

    Run-mofo,
    That's great news.
The reason I don't just delete the 'feat' bit is three fold:
First, like Erik Dyson, I want things to work properly. Second, I like to know who is being "featured" so, if that track strikes me because of the contribution of the featured artist, I can find more information about the featured artist. Finally, I just like to have as much information accessible to me as possible.
Now, the question is, does my Mini Cooper (BMW) iPod control software will use the iPod OS to identify the artist for the "Artist" category or if the Mini Cooper software will ignore the "Sort Artist" ...

  • Shutting off and battery life 6th gen nano

I tried every way possible to get 24 hours battery life on the new 6th gen Nano, and the most I got was 12 hours. That was without touching the device, just letting it play music at 128bit rate. and everything off!. what is wrong! Also there is no way to turn off the Nano completely, only pause it. Please Apple send us all a software update that will fix this problem!! Don't let this product be another flop like your Iphone 4th gen was. To many flops and you will start going from number 1,to the worst company to purchase from.Your products in the past have been to good to let issues like this ruin your reputation. Please keep up the good work in your past, and don't let your products go to the garbage bin. thank you sincerely.

    Mad Man,
I'm with you on these concerns. The "shutting off" of a device should not be a guessing game, nor should the user need to jump through hoops, particularly if the user is a child. Seems if the customer base has concerns, or is at least unclear on the topic (which the countless complaints on the web would indicate they are), I would have hoped that apple would have at least dignified it's customers with a response.
I've read other posters respond to this line of question, with short answers, and attempt to dismiss the issue and question through shaming someone for even questioning the functionality, but these are legitimate questions. If apple can not, or will not respond, I suspect there will be more returns of the product than anticipated.

  • 6th gen Nano: Sound quality and updates?

So I'm looking at possibly getting a 6G nano, couple questions. How is the sound quality? I recently bought a pair of $75 headphones and was very pleased with the them listening on my ipod touch 2nd gen, not so much on my 2nd gen shuffle. Can anyone compare the sound quality of the 6th gen nano to the 2nd gen ipod touch, or even the 2nd gen shuffle?
One feature that may keep me from buying this is the fact that it automatically sleeps after 60 seconds and there is no way to change this. So you have to wake the thing after every 60 seconds, which would be very annoying, especially if you are on a bike. Can/will apple do an update via itunes to add the ability to change these settings? For example the ipod touch has options to sleep after 1,2,3,4,5 minutes and never sleep. Thanks.

I think the sound is really good for such a small device. I don't notice much of a difference between the 6g nano and my 2nd gen touch. I do use better headphones. For exercise I use some sennheisers and also have a $200 pair of Dr Dre monster head phones that sound great! I do have the soundcheck turned on to even out volume levels between tracks.
I biked today with it clipped the left shoulder of my shirt. Yes...you have to hit the wake button to turn on the screen before you can hit the forward to next track button. Not too hard to get used to once you do it a few times. I do wish there was a way to keep the screen turned on ...maybe in a future firmware upgrade.

  • Is the latest update to the 6th gen nano a software download or does it come with the new watch faces and larger icons out of the box

Apple shows the new 6th gen nano with the new selection of watch faces and lager icons etc as per new update, but stores still have the 6th gen nano with just 3 watch faces and smaller icons etc. Is the newer spec just a software update that i do after purchase or does it come updated out of the box?
    Thx

It should come out of the box with the new 1.2 update, but if it doesn't you can simply connect it to iTunes, download, and install the update from there.

  • HOW do I get the "watch" to stay on and not shut off on my 6th GEN  NANO?

After purchasing a $70 cool watchband for my new 6th GEN NANO, I'm very disapointed that I can't get the "watch" function to stay on more than 15 seconds.  AppleCare says that it isn't meant to stay on, it would run down the battery.  Then why put on 16 watch faces, and show it as a "watch" on everything you publish?  Doesn't make sense you can watch TV shows and movies, but doesn't have enough battery to run a watch face.   BAD design, and shame on APPLE for selling a dozen different watchbands in their stores.  Now don't you think the store salesman would say "are you thinking of wearing this as a watch, or to hold your NANO while you are at the gym"?   15 seconds is often not enought time to get setup and take someone's blood pressure.  I don't think I need to offer an explanation of WHY a watch should work more than 15 seconds without pushing a button, do I?

This is getting silly, but I'm not too young to remember the early digital watches.  The difference is that we knew what we were buying .  jThey were upfont about the FACT that the watches didn't stay on.  And how well did they sell as watches?  Hmmm    I don't think any of us said that Apple was pushing Nano primarily as a watch.  That said, this is not a third party "app" either .... 18 clock faces come with the Nano as a "feature" of the product. It's not a "digital time read out"... it's made to look and act like a watch.   Apples own website touts that you can change its face "to match your mood or your outfit".... The  bands they sell range from $20 bucks to like $150 bucks....   This is a HUGE money maker for them.   It is THESE KINDS OF FEATURES that brings people back buying new ipods, because like I said, without them, I have plenty of devices that already "record music", or "store pictures".    And your other points have zero merit.  Go to the Apple website to the Nano 6 page where Apple touts all of its merits. This is where Apple explains the features of their product.  There is a whole section:
    http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/features.html
Clock faces. Time to match your mood. Or your outfit.
    (copy below)
    It’s all in the wrist.
Do you wear your iPod nano on a watchband? With 18 different clock face designs to choose from, you can have a new watch style whenever the mood strikes you. Sport an analog face for a formal event, go digital for a retro feel, or choose a whimsical, animated character like Mickey Mouse or Kermit the Frog. There are also color options so you can match the color of your iPod nano. iPod nano watchbands are available in a range of styles and colors from theApple Online Store.
And last, for the record Sir, I have probably purchased 50 Apple products for myself, my business, and as gifts in the last 10 years.  I have had my manufacturing issues which Apple always responsibly took care of.  But I have NOT ONCE complained in this forum about ANYTHING. I am a HUGE Apple fan.  I felt strongly enough, that this issure warranted warning others about.  Mostly, I wanted APPLE to understand the gaff and perceptual problem which was created. Perhaps not to all (like to you), but certainly to some (obviously like me). Let's face it, we BOTH represent groups of the public, like it our not.  Especially, since I rarely talk to Apple staff, I'm an early adopter, and for some reason, I hesitated on this product and did talk to a couple staff members when I was in the store FOR OTHER THINGS. I bought one for myself, and three for gifts.  I've already returned the ones I bought as gifts, because when I showed my neices and nephews MINE, and the disfunction of the watch, they all lost interest in keeping theirs, and opted for other Apple devices instead.  And if you still don't think they are marketing this Nano as a watch more than  iphone, touch, pad, or classic, then I throw up my arms, and say Happy New Year.  You are Apple washed and whipped beyond repair. NOBODY is perfect, not even Apple.  Or, you.

My 6th gen nano ipod stopped working. I figured it was because it was next to my sweaty body, so put it in rice. I sought help from internet and tried all of the troubleshooting steps; i.e pushing down the power button and the volume down button consecutively, plugging it in to a power source, waiting 10 minutes and pushing the buttons while it was plugged in. Nothing has worked thus far. Is there anything else that I can try?
