6th gen nano- sleep/wake button stuck- how to repair

My 10 month old 6th generation nano is not working- seems like sleep/wake button is "stuck".  is there some way to repair this?

Hello Ryan,
Since it sounds like you have already tried all the usual and available troubleshooting techniques, I would make a trip to your local Apple store/Genius Bar and have them take a look at it.  Your iPod is still under Apple's 1 year warranty that cover any defects (but not accidental damage!).

My nano (6th gen.) sleep/wake button is frozen. What can I do? I have owned this less than a year

I had a broken home button within 6 months and had it replaced. Now I have a broken volume up button less than a year later. They want $65 to fix with 90 day warranty. This is a major defect and they should have recalled these units. It is insane that they are still ignoring this problem and telling people to pay to have it fixed. I'm filing a complaint against Apple.

  • HT4354 sleep/wake button stuck- AGAIN

I gave my daughter an ipod nano 6th gen for her birthday in may 2011.  by April 2012 the sleep/wake button was stuck and we went to store for service.  we were given a new nano.  now (about 11 months again) the new one is experiencing the same problem, but the online system indicates we have no warranty or service suppor recourse.  Are these supposed to be this way?  we have several apple products in our home and have never had such a frustrating problem before.

    Hello, ksebolt.

  • Sleep/Wake button stuck .Offered a replacement for £119

So today I went to the Apple store with my out of warrenty iPhone 4 with an unrepsonive/stuck sleep wake button they looked at it and within 30 seconds said that I would need a replacement phone at the cost of £119. I said I would go away and think about it and I've got some questions that I'd like to ask .
1.Do I get to keep my faulty iPhone ? (I'm assuming I won't but I might be wrong)
2.Could I pay more than £119 to upgrade to the iPhone 4S but not the full price if so how much ?
    Thanks Tom

No to both questions. It's an exchange program. It's like for like. Same model, colour, and GB that you hand in.

  • Sleep/Wake button stuck but they wont replace for free?!

So my sleep/wake button is stuck and I went to the apple store, but they are making me pay $199 to replace it when I still have warranty!  I don't understand they say I have a speck of pink of the LCI but no corrosion which means they should still be able to replace it for free, is anyone else having problems and if so how do I get my phone replaced for free?!

i have an exactly same problem...  The phone just didnt ever touch water!!

  • IPhone Sleep/Wake Button Stuck

My sleep wake button is stuck. There is nothing else wrong with the phone. I know it is not covered under the warranty because it was dropped, however, I am extremely annoyed to find out that after not being offered insurance for such an expensive item, (I will not even get started on how I do not comprehend that it does not exist)they do not offer any services to fix the phone either. It is really irritating to pay so much money for a product and not recieve any help when you call the company. I was on the phone for 2 hours today and was told there was nothing they could do. I even offered to pay for them to just fix the button, but that was not an option. Clever solution to refunding early owners $100.

AT&T does not offer insurance on any of its high end smart phones.
AT&T does not offer any repairs on the product. Apple handles all repair services. They will fix the phone for you, but the fee is substantial ($250 for the 8gb phone).

  • SLEEP/WAKE BUTTON STUCK

Does anyone have any experience of the sleep/wake button becoming stuck?  One minute it was fine, the next it is jammed and I can't switch the phone off.

Amazingly, the problem kinda just fixed itself. I left it alone, didn't use it for a good long while (couple months), and then it just started working right and not acting up at all. Hasn't done it for months and is working fine.
    Weird.

  • Why does my iPhone 4s stall when I turn on the sleep/wake button and how do I fix it

I was just wondering why my iPhone 4s stalls when I press the
Sleep/wake button? And how do I fix it?

Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

  • My iPod nano (6th G)'s Sleep/Wake button got completely pushed in and I can not turn it on

Apple has nothing listed on what to do and I was wondering if anybody else did??????

Hmmm, if there are any tech stores nearby you can bring it to them. If not then heres an article related to your topic. I won't recomend opening the prodcut yourself unless you think you can put it back together. Remember if anything is broken then im not responsible and you might need to bring it to the apple store nearby and get it fixed (might cost a bit). Good luck!

  • HT201401 Sleep wake button stuck

The button was working fine until I went to lock it before going to sleep now it seems stuck and doesn't work.. It hasn't been used any different to normal and ice never had this problem before. Phone is out of warranty and I can't seem to get any help any where

Just another suggestion, you can try using Assistive Touch by going to General < Accessibility < Assistive Touch. It'll create a virtual button on the screen that allows you to lock the device with a couple of taps, and can even reboot it (AFAIK).

  • 6th generation iPod nano automatically turns off when I push het sleep/wake button or when screen turns black after a while. How can I solve this ?

My 6th generation iPod nano automatically turns off (=stops the music) when I push het sleep/wake button or when screen turns black for power saving mode. Does anyone know how to solve this ?
I have already tried resetting, connecting to PC/iTunes to check the software version, turning off/on, I don't have any inspiration anymore.
    Thanks for your suggestions!

    Hi VeerleD,
If your iPod touch unexpectedly powers off, you may want to use the steps in this article to troubleshoot -
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting (The steps apply for the iPod touch) -
    Specifically -
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Brett L

  • Sleep/wake button of ipod nano 6g STUCK!!

I've had an ipod nano 6g for more than a year, and it worked perfectly untill a cupple of days ago when the sleep/wake button got stuck!! i've been reading about this and apparently it has happened to a lot of people, but they have been lucky to have the problem while warranty is still efective. My problem is that my warranty allready expired, so apple will not change it, and i don´t know if the'll even fix it.
Can anyone help me with this, does anyone have the same problem?

Same problem. Many, many people are having this problem. And at the moment, if the warranty has expired, you have to pay to have it fixed. A man at the Ginza Apple Store explained it to me today. Hopefully they'll recall it or allow some sort of exchange program, because this is a major problem with this device.

  • I have An Ipod Touch 4g and My Sleep/Wake Button is stuck inside so i am unable to press it How can i fix this?

I have An Ipod Touch 4g and My Sleep/Wake Button is stuck inside so i am unable to press it How can i fix this?

If not caused by accidental damage, the iPod Touch includes a one year warranty. If your iPod Touch remains under warranty, you can call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby. If the iPod Touch remains under warranty you open the iPod Touch youself or by a 3rd party, doing so will void the warranty. If you live near an Apple Store, make an appointment to see if the store can get the button unstuck. If not under warranty, there won't be any charge for this.
