6th gen nano with nike + playlists don't shuffle

I switched from 1st gen nano to the 6th gen nano last week and one thing that I noticed is my playlists when hooked up to nike + sensor don't shuffle. I hear the same songs in order every run! It's frustrating because the 1st gen nano if shuffle is turned on for songs will shuffle your playlist songs in nike + mode the 6th gen doesn't. I shook the heck out of it and still it's the same song. Turned off shake when shuffle to see if their's a shuffle choice nope. Anyone else find this frustrating?
I have a call in to tech support this morning going to ask them this question seems I missing something or the 6th is missing this option.

I have the very same problem! And the calibration is a pain but it's getting better. "Default calibration... is accurate for many users" pshh...
You should let me know if you find out a way to get past this!

  • 6th gen Nano with album problems

6th generation Nano separates certain albums with multiple artists.  It treats them as individual tracks instead of an album.  This is not the case on my computer, iPhone, or iPod.  I have downloaded the latest software.  Any suggestions?

I had a similar problem with an album "Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics Of All Time" by Santana with various artists. iTunes put each "Santana, featuring XXX" as a different album, but with the same album name. By editing the info for each song, I put Santana in the Album Artist line, and iTunes then put them all in one album.
Since they were all the same album name, they were all listed one right under the other. After editing the info on the first one, I copied Santana from the first one, then clicked Next, pasted it into the next song, clicked Next, pasted, etc. until I went through each song. Didn't take but a couple of minutes to complete, and now they're all under one album heading.

  • Is the latest update to the 6th gen nano a software download or does it come with the new watch faces and larger icons out of the box

Apple shows the new 6th gen nano with the new selection of watch faces and lager icons etc as per new update, but stores still have the 6th gen nano with just 3 watch faces and smaller icons etc. Is the newer spec just a software update that i do after purchase or does it come updated out of the box?
    Thx

It should come out of the box with the new 1.2 update, but if it doesn't you can simply connect it to iTunes, download, and install the update from there.

  • Linking multiple Nike+ Sensors to 6th Gen Nano

Is there a way to link multiple Nike+ sensors to a 6th Gen Nano? I have the Nike+Sports kit with that sensor. I would like to link the sensor that I use with my touch to the nano also.
Please point me in the directions of the correct instructions.
I've tried to link, but the Nano doesn't see the new sensor.
    thanks

Can the voiceover utility on the 6th gen Nano be accessed with headphones other than the Apple earphones?

No I have tried and they don't also my iPod touch 2nd generation doesn't work with voice control unless it has apple earbuds plugged in. I guess apple doesn't want 3rd party brads interfering with their company. Thanks please like

    And a couple more suggestions.
The Generic PCL Laser Printer included with Lion will only print in black and white. So open Print & Scan, select the Konica printer, click on Options & Supplies and then select the Driver tab. Ensure this does not show Generic PCL Laser.
And, there is also a Generic Postscript printer driver included with Lion that does print in colour. So to rule out an issue with the KM driver, create another queue to the printer but this time select Generic Postscript in the Print Using menu and see if this prints in colour.

  • Ihome ip37 compatibile with 6th gen nano?

I have a 6th generation nano and today received a gift of an ihome ip37 portable dock/speaker system. The ip37 says I shouldn't use it without installing one of the inserts provided that surrounds the jack that the nano connects to. The inserts are obviously designed to cradle a nano or other ipod securely while connected. None of the inserts provided allow the 6th gen nano to be connected. Does anybody have any experience with the ip37 and the 6th generation nano? Thanks for any help you can provide.

You can try it without the inserts. Just be careful not to force the Nano onto the dock connector, and make sure you are not putting too much sideways or front-to-back pressure on the Nano dock connector. The inserts are designed to reduce the strain on the dock connector, but the Nano is so short in height that it is harder to apply leverage that could damage either device.

  • My speaker system won't work with the 6th gen nano

Why won't my Logitech Speaker system for the iPod play or charge my 6th gen nano? It's worked for all of my other nano's. I hope there's no compatability issues.

I'm having almost the exact same problem with my JBL On Stage Micro Speaker (from around 1996) except it charges and syncs my Nano 6G OK. It just won't play the Nano thru the speakers. All my other iPods have played fine sitting in the JBL speaker including my Touch 4G from fall 2010.
The only thing I can think of is that the dock connector in the Nano 6G is wired differently? It would be interesting to hear if anyone has speakers that play using the Nano dock connector. Or if someone from Apple would let us know if the dock connector pin-outs have changed. Very sucky!

My 6th gen nano ipod stopped working. I figured it was because it was next to my sweaty body, so put it in rice. I sought help from internet and tried all of the troubleshooting steps; i.e pushing down the power button and the volume down button consecutively, plugging it in to a power source, waiting 10 minutes and pushing the buttons while it was plugged in. Nothing has worked thus far. Is there anything else that I can try?

  • Using nike fitness technology on 6th gen nano

One of the main reasons I chose the 6th gen nano over the shuffle was the feature enabling run tracking.  It was my understanding that the newest generation was ready to go and didn't need an added kit like previous nano generations.  However, I find that my nano only has the option to use a pedometer on the pre-loaded fitness icon.  I'm new to apple technology, so excuse my ignorance, but I can't seem to find a way to track distances, mile times, and similar. Please help me figure out if there are controls that can be changed or additional downloads that must be pursued.  Thank you!

You can't. Being able to do so would dramatically decrease your iPod's battery life anyways.

  • 6th Gen Nano - Sound Check doesn't work

    Hi
The sound level on my 6th Gen Nano is all over the place. There is a big variance in volume from one song to the next which is both annoying and dangerous to my hearing. The Sound Check function is turned on in both the Nano settings and iTunes.
Does anyone know a fix to this before my ear-drums blow out?

Sound check is basically useless. Hasn't worked effectively on any model I've purchased. However, as others have pointed out, you can adjust the volume of a song so that your playlists don't cause public embarrassment. Simply do a control "i" on a particular song. In the "info" tab, you can increase or decrease the volume of a particular tune. However, if you make the adjustment, be sure to adjust all of the tune from that album. Otherwise, when you play the album, the song you tweaked will have a different volume from the rest of tunes on the album. It ain't a great fix... but it's better than what the programmers have done with sound check.

  • HOW do I get the "watch" to stay on and not shut off on my 6th GEN  NANO?

After purchasing a $70 cool watchband for my new 6th GEN NANO, I'm very disapointed that I can't get the "watch" function to stay on more than 15 seconds.  AppleCare says that it isn't meant to stay on, it would run down the battery.  Then why put on 16 watch faces, and show it as a "watch" on everything you publish?  Doesn't make sense you can watch TV shows and movies, but doesn't have enough battery to run a watch face.   BAD design, and shame on APPLE for selling a dozen different watchbands in their stores.  Now don't you think the store salesman would say "are you thinking of wearing this as a watch, or to hold your NANO while you are at the gym"?   15 seconds is often not enought time to get setup and take someone's blood pressure.  I don't think I need to offer an explanation of WHY a watch should work more than 15 seconds without pushing a button, do I?

This is getting silly, but I'm not too young to remember the early digital watches.  The difference is that we knew what we were buying .  jThey were upfont about the FACT that the watches didn't stay on.  And how well did they sell as watches?  Hmmm    I don't think any of us said that Apple was pushing Nano primarily as a watch.  That said, this is not a third party "app" either .... 18 clock faces come with the Nano as a "feature" of the product. It's not a "digital time read out"... it's made to look and act like a watch.   Apples own website touts that you can change its face "to match your mood or your outfit".... The  bands they sell range from $20 bucks to like $150 bucks....   This is a HUGE money maker for them.   It is THESE KINDS OF FEATURES that brings people back buying new ipods, because like I said, without them, I have plenty of devices that already "record music", or "store pictures".    And your other points have zero merit.  Go to the Apple website to the Nano 6 page where Apple touts all of its merits. This is where Apple explains the features of their product.  There is a whole section:
    http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/features.html
Clock faces. Time to match your mood. Or your outfit.
    (copy below)
    It’s all in the wrist.
Do you wear your iPod nano on a watchband? With 18 different clock face designs to choose from, you can have a new watch style whenever the mood strikes you. Sport an analog face for a formal event, go digital for a retro feel, or choose a whimsical, animated character like Mickey Mouse or Kermit the Frog. There are also color options so you can match the color of your iPod nano. iPod nano watchbands are available in a range of styles and colors from theApple Online Store.
And last, for the record Sir, I have probably purchased 50 Apple products for myself, my business, and as gifts in the last 10 years.  I have had my manufacturing issues which Apple always responsibly took care of.  But I have NOT ONCE complained in this forum about ANYTHING. I am a HUGE Apple fan.  I felt strongly enough, that this issure warranted warning others about.  Mostly, I wanted APPLE to understand the gaff and perceptual problem which was created. Perhaps not to all (like to you), but certainly to some (obviously like me). Let's face it, we BOTH represent groups of the public, like it our not.  Especially, since I rarely talk to Apple staff, I'm an early adopter, and for some reason, I hesitated on this product and did talk to a couple staff members when I was in the store FOR OTHER THINGS. I bought one for myself, and three for gifts.  I've already returned the ones I bought as gifts, because when I showed my neices and nephews MINE, and the disfunction of the watch, they all lost interest in keeping theirs, and opted for other Apple devices instead.  And if you still don't think they are marketing this Nano as a watch more than  iphone, touch, pad, or classic, then I throw up my arms, and say Happy New Year.  You are Apple washed and whipped beyond repair. NOBODY is perfect, not even Apple.  Or, you.

  • 6th Gen nano,

    2) Bigger screen - gone
I believe that the screen is bigger.
I predict the Nano to be an epic failure. One has to wonder how the iPod team could possibly trash the elegant and highly functional G5 and replace it with......@#$%
That's very similar to what people said about the Mini. Smaller, too expensive. Turned out to be the one of the best selling iPods ever.
The new Nano was the only new iPod that really grabbed me. I ordered one as soon as the speech was over. I have one of the, I believe, 3rd gen Nanos, which was also squarish. Loved the shape. As I primarily use my Nano for running, video capture and playback never really mattered to me. I like the small size. I have a couple of Shuffles which are nice enough but I really don't like the lack of screen.
I think this Nano has huge potential.

  • 6th gen Nano doesn't recognize "Album Artist"

I've recently bought a 6th gen Nano and noticed that while my iTunes recognizes "Album Artist" for songs with featured artists, but my iPod doesn't.  It'll list, for example, "Matsushita Yuya" and "Matsushita Yuya ft. Sista" as two different artists in the "Artist" menu even though they both have "Matsushita Yuya" as "Album Artist."  Both kinds of songs show up in the same album under the "Album" menu.
I've tried listing as a compilation, changing "Sort Artist" and "Sort Album Artist," but nothing groups the songs together on my iPod under the Artist menu while keeping the featured song artist.
Listing as a compilation and changing "Sort Album Artist" doesn't change anything.
When I put "Matsushita Yuya" in "Sort Artist" for a "Matsushita Yuya ft. Sista" song, my iPod just gets rid of the featuring part all together.
I've looked online, but as far as I've seen, other 6th gen Nanos don't have this problem.

My new (5 months old) 6th gen nano started doing the same thing, starting a week ago!  I had to trade in my previous nano because the screen went white.  Paid 150 for this one, now this again!   I see alot of the same problems posted everywhere.  Is there an Nano (6G) recall in the near future?
So where do I go from here?

  • 6th Gen Nano Backlight

I can't believe it I am on my THIRD 6th gen Nano, all had the same problem - a failed backlight. First one failed after about three months, second one two months, and my third failed after the first time I used it for a workout after I got the replacement.
Symptoms always the same - plays music fine, finish my workout (using the Nike "Fitness"), then as I hit pause and calibrate the distance, the screen flickers on and off a few times, then it's dark.
I can sync it just fine, and have reset it. If I shine a bright light on the screen I can see that it is working and responds to touch. Also, if I shake it hard sometimes it flickers. That tells me it's a hardware problem.
I just can't believe I'm on my third bad unit.
The only thing in common is I am using an older pair of high-quality (around $100) Sony in-ear phones. They play fine. I wonder if there is a problem and the earphones are shorting in the connector, maybe damaging the backlight?
Back to the Genius for my fourth unit. I'm going to use another pair of Apple earphones.
Searching the forum here, I see a lot of backlight issues on the Nano...

If this is the case (moisture damage) I'd be quite surprised.
I clip it to my waistband, with the screen facing outward. It doesn't really get sweaty at all, maybe the backside of the metal clip, and the screen stays relatively dry. Maybe my hands are sweaty, but this is supposed to be a workout-oriented MP3 player for active people, right? I am just using it on an indoor elliptical trainer, and it never sees rain or dripping moisture.
When I get my (fourth) unit, I can try clipping it to my outer pocket, but if this is the problem they are not sealing it very well. What is strange is that the unit itself looks very tightly sealed from the outside and it's hard to believe they cannot do better.
