6th generation ipod will not get recogised by itunes
I've restored the ipod, reinstalled itunes and even checked my firewall settings. What can I do to make it recognise the ipod so it can sync?
It says there is something wrong with my USB port holes, however I can insert other items, for instance my blackberry the system will recognise it straight away.
My computer restored my ipod even though it claimed it could not recognise it, when I tried to then out my music back onto it, it did not work as it wass once again "not recognised"
please help

could you give us a bit more detail on the situation, Eeve?
is it that the songs say that they're transferring, and appear on the ipod screen in itunes, but when you unplug the ipod they aren't on there? or is something a bit different going on?

my 2 nd generation ipod will not stay on an app for instance ghost radar classic stays on for a minute then goes to app store
Believe it or not the iPod can go for months on end without ever completely powering down. Sometimes it helps to simply reboot it like any computer.

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Before you reinstall the Apple software, also remove iCloud vi Control Panel Remove programs. The reinstall the Apple programs

Try restoring your device in iTunes. If that does not work you will need to get it serviced.

HT4623 my 2nd. generation ipod will not update the software from 2.2 to 4
my 2nd. geration ipod will not update the software from 2.2 to 4 or 6.
Are you sure you have a 2G? A 1G can only go to 2.1 via iTunes but a 1G can go as high as 3.1.3 that you get here:
Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)
Identifying iPod models
To If you do have a 2G that can go to 4.2.1 by:
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software
For 4.2.1 you need iTunes version 10.X and that requires OSX 105.8 or later.
If you have 10.4.11 you can only go to iOS 4.1 since that OSX can on go to iTunes 9.X -
My 5th Generation iPod will not sync under Windows Vista
Wow.. I finally got registered on this forum, took ages lol.
Well I've got the latest version of the iTunes software and I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium.
When I connect my iPod, it detects ok and then iTunes starts to sync it.. after about five seconds or so I get an error stating I do not have sufficient privelages to update the "My Music" folder, and thus my iPod will not update. Immediately after this error I check device manager, and a "USB Mass Storage Device" is detected with an error state (a yellow exclamation mark next to it). I can delete this from device manager, re-connect my iPod and it will do exactly the same all over again.
Can anyone help?I've had it working in the past, thats what is odd.
It just refuses to update saying I don't have the necessary privelages.
Not sure when the next version of iTunes will be released, hope its soon. -

My 6th generation nano does not show in the iTunes window.
When I open iTunes my nano does not appear in the library window and my computer does not recognize the device, so it's also not synching. My library is intact and I've updated both the iTunes software and downloaded updates for Windows 7. I even uninstalled and re-install iTunees.
The only thing I haven't done is changed cords. I'm using the cord from a 1st generation ipod. I received the 6th generation ipod as part of Apple's replacement program.
Everything worked fine the last time I synched a few months ago and when I recharged the ipod last month.
Does anyone have additional tips to fix this?I tried all this, I mean should I reset all setting?
Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
that is restart. -
