6th generation nano won't shuffle

i try shaking and pressing shuffle but nothing happens... anyone know why?

Download the manual here, and see page 21 to set the shuffle feature. To set the Shake to Shuffle feature, go to the home page of your Nano and hit the Settings button, and then the Music button. You will see whether Shake to Shuffle is on or off, and you can tap the on/off button to toggle it.

My 6th generation nano won't maintain volume it repeatedly drops to zero?

When you say that you are turning it off, are you holding down the sleep/wake button for several seconds to shut it off completely rather than just send it into sleep mode?
Also, apparently the full off function was NOT on the original version of these units, so you might want to connect it to iTunes to see if here are any software updates available for it.

  • My IPod 6th Generation Nano doesn't shuffle when I press the shuffle key. It keeps playing the same song?

My IPod 6th Generation Nano isn't shuffling. I press the shuffling choice on play music. The same song plays over and over again. What do I need to do?

It sounds like the Repeat setting has been turned on/enabled.  See your iPod's User Guide for information on how to disable it.

  • 6th generation nano won't save recordings

I recently received my ipod nano from the 1g replacement program. When I was trying out the voice memo function, the voice memo appears to save (it says saving when i stop the recording) but when I try to find the recordings in the list it says there are no recordings on this ipod. Does anyone know if there is something I'm missing or is the nano just broken?
    Thanks in advance

The reason might be, that you either did not yet connect your iPod nano 6G with iTunes or did not register it yet through iTunes.
First try to connect it to iTunes and put one song on it. Then disconnect it, plug in the headphones with mic, start the voice memo app and record. See if it is saved now. If not, reconnect it to iTunes, register the iPod with your apple ID and try again afterwards. You may have to restart your iPod after connecting it to iTunes by holding down the button on the right and the - volume button.
Let me know if it worked for you.

  • Why won't Apple admit the problem with 6th generation nano power button?

The power (sleep) button on the 6th generation nano is obviously faulty and poorly designed. Why won't Apple step up and make it right and issue a recall to fix or solve the issue so many people are having? Apple, do you hear us? Make it right! You know it's wrong! If a power button fails after a couple of years, that's a sad design. Shame on you!

No, they don't hear you posting here. My button is working fine after 3 years.

Go down to Contact Us at the bottom right, get Apple's address and right them a letter.

  • 6th Generation Nano Marking Podcasts as Played and Won't sync Partial

I recently received a 6th generation Nano and I'm having a problem with syncing my podcasts. There are two things I noticed.
As soon as I start listening to a podcast on the device, the blue dot that indicates that podcast is unplayed is gone, whereas on my iphone4, the blue dot shows as partial when I start playing the podcast.
Then when I sync the nano to my PC, it does not put the partially played podcast back onto my nano. When I look at the podcast in my iTunes, it shows as partial. In order for me to get my podcast to show up on my nano, I have to manually check the box for the partial podcast and include it on the device.
This does not happen at all on my iPhone 4. This only happens on my iPod Nano.
Is this an issue or is this working as intended? If it is intended, is there a workaround?

These settings have been buggy on previous iPods as well and were fixed with updates. I ended up either syncing to smart playlists or setting podcasts to sync all episodes. I never keep old episode so these settings work for me.

  • I updated iTunes and now my 6th generation nano can't be properly recognized now.

I recently updated my iTunes after holding off for a bit and now my 6th generation Nano wn't be recognized in iTunes but is recognized on the computer.
The message I get is this "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again."
I did this and still get the same message.
I found this article on the apple website http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3218 which specifically deals with this problem. I went through all the steps including uininstalling and installing iTunes and still nothing.
I called apple but they told me I need to buy some 20 dollar phone help plan in order to even talk to anyone since I bought it back in 2010. I won't be doing this.
    Can someone plase help me!!

Try resetting the Nano with it still connected to a high powered USB 2.0 port on your PC. To reset the iPod, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • 6th generation nano screen black but able to touch screen from memory to get music to play..called customer support they said it's the backlight since touch screen can still be touched and music can be played..any thoughts?

second 6th generation nano..again with the same problem..screen is black will not turn on but am able to touch screen and get music/radio to play...able to touch around on screen from memory..nano is recognized in itunes and computer..but screen will not turn on..called customer support today..of course out of warranty but was told that it sounds like my backlight is burnt out and that's all i need fixed, told that it shouldn't be that expensive (live in myrtle beach SC) and that my screen is fine since i am able to touch around on it...any thoughts?
thanks to all for any advice or input..will try to take to local icitymac store in next couple of days

Replacing the backlight usually requires replacing the entire front LCD/digitizer.  And yes, it sounds the backlight has burned out.
Keep in mind that if you go the Apple route, they won't actually repair the iPod, but instead will do an out of warranty exchange meaning your current Nano will be replaced with a refurbished model of the same capacity and generation.

  • Why my 1st generation nano earbuds not working with 6th generation nano?

    Hi there,
I had a 1st generation iPod Nano and Apple just replaced it with a 6th generation nano, however the earbuds jack of my 1st gen does not fit all the way into the 6th gen, it leaves a tiny bit outside and I couldn't push it all the way in, though I could hear sounds through the earbuds.  Is there anyone out there that experience this?  I thought the earbuds connector is universal.
Also, I'm not sure if this is related to the earbuds not fitting all the way in.  My new Nano shuts itself off about 1 minute or 2 after I turn it on, I am thinking it may think there is no earbuds connected to it, could this be why?
    Thanks for any help!
    Ray.

Push harder, the headphone jack on the 6 is very tight when new.

    Hello kidmango,
I am going to have to agree with planb77. Look into other drivers in your computer causing the issue, not just the nano's drivers.
It is possible that security software is the culprit. Use this:
    iTunes: Troubleshooting security software issues
You may have to restore your computer to a previous point. From before the issue started. Contact computer manufacture or Windows for steps, or do a search with a search engine.
I would test the ipod on a known good computer to see if its the ipod is the issue. My gut says no. You can set a reservation at an Apple Retail Store. Apple.com/retail .You can also test a known good ipod on your computer.
    Hope this helps.
