7.1.1 to 7.2 - Worth updating on G5?

Hello,
Just wondering what people's opinion is of 7.2 vs 7.1.1. I'll upgrade if it's more stable, but won't if it isn't. What do you reckon?
Thanks in advance.
Paddy

Paddy,
I was a bit hesitant because of the cost but I can confirm that for me it was a very good move. It solved a number of MIDI related problems I was getting P'd off with. Also I don't now suffer with Automation ghosts that can't be deleted anymore. Add to that, the whole system just feels more stable and, dare I say it, sounds better! Yes, other people have commented that things sound better in 7.2 but no one can quantify exactly why that is.
Oh yeah, you get a shed load of new toys and it's compatible with Intel Macs.

If you have the latest generation iPad, you gain additional features, the most prominent being Siri as well as others like Maps and Facebook integration.

  • Hello friends!I use mac book(2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo).is it worth updating to snow leopard and then lion?if so how to do so?

Hello  I use mac book 2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo.Is it worth updating to latest version like snow leopard and then Lion or buying new mac air?
    regards
    Clayton.

Well, it depends on what you expect it to do and if it works as expected - it that answer is yes, I'd say make sure you max out the RAM (I've noticed Snow Leopard needs more). Doing it this way gives you a machine which will run 2 different OS versions - on the other hand, depending on when you'd buy the MBA, you may only be able to run Lion (unless you buy that quickly as well while they still come with SL).

  • IOS 6.1 Worth Updating?

I have gotten a message for ios 6.1. I see the improvements to be able to purchase movie tickets through siri. and other things? Does siri come on this one? I guess not. Is this update worth updating now? I just installed the update for ios 6.0.1 about a week or two ago. Or should I just wait? Thanks! (ipod touch 4th generation)

    No.
    Why would you not update?

  • I have an older iMac and want to know if anyone thinks it is worth updating or buying a new one?

I have an 2008 imac but it is really out of date because I loaned it to my mom and got myself a laptop. Wondering if I should update it with OX or purchase a new one.

You don't say what OS that 2008 machine currently has.   What you have could well be upgraded to 10.9. Mavericks.   Snow Leopard is an excellent OS and the 10.6.8 upgrade (if it's needed) gives you App store too ... and that makes it a very useful computer.   But upgrade the memory to 4GB
Okay, Apple no longer formally support it but they still provide security and iTunes updates ... so it isn't actually dead.   And more important, any PPC apps that are currently on it are protected ... at least until you go into higher OSs.
I think I would be inclined to get all I can from the existing machine.

  • Is iphone 3g version 3.1.2 worth updating to 4.2?

I have an iphone 3g that I didn't update, because my hp laptop's screen blacked out and wasn't fixable. Now I read that the new update slows down the iphone 3g, but I actually don't use my iphone anymore as a phone, only for my music and apps. Should I or shouldn't I update ? I appreciate all answers!
    Thanks in advance!

i just got an Macbook Pro, trying to backup my stuff. I thought afterwards to update to 4.2!

  • Worth updating to Leopard??

I have been running 10.2 on my G4 PB since I bought it in Autumn 2003. Is it worth me shelling out for the new OS? I use iphoto, firefox and occasionally itunes - don't do much else. However i do find that since I have had my PB it has frozen on a regular basis for no apparent reason - not due to full HD as at various times I have cleared it out, no due to no of apps running as sometimes I have only 1 app open. I have also upgrated the RAM to 500MB. Nothing seems to work. I wondered whether installing a new OS would sort out the problem. Any thoughts any one?

Well with every upgrade you'll find dissatisfied users, and here is where they'll come. I for one am quite satisfied. The bugs reported here are usually just issues whereby people haven't properly prepared their system for upgrading. There are over 2 million copies of Leopard floating around already and only a few thousand complaints. The complaint rate is not even 1%. You are making a mountain out of a molehill. I see you haven't started one new thread, except for the July iPhone thread, and are only replying to others. Maybe if you got some individual attention to your problem you'll be able to get it resolved and happily running Leopard.

  • I would like to use icloud on my mac which has snow leopard, so do I really need to update to snow lion, is it worth it and if so, how do I do it?

Ok, so how do I get icloud on this snow leapord imac? Is it worth updating to lion, and if so how do I do it?

If you need iCloud, you need Lion. You buy it from the App Store for $29.99.
If you are running Snow Leopard, your system already meets the minimum specfications for Lion. However, the 2 GB minimum memory requirement is generally considered inadequate. 4 GB is a more realistic minimum; 8 GB for Lion to be comfortable.

  • Kernel Panic, Software Updates, Worth 104.8 Update?

Hi, hope someone can give me some advice.
We have been using a few GS’s runiing 10.4.7 for good few months now with no major problem. The predominate application used is FCP (5.1.2). We have been keeping the machine up-to-date via software update from the start. We have tended to do the updates on one machine and the follow with the rest a week or so later if there haven’t been any problems regarding updates.
    Until now.
Today we have had multiple kernel panics on the a good percentage of the machines.
This is the lastest from one of them.

It maybe a coincidence but yesterday we did a software
-up-date on the rest of the machine after testing it on two machine which had no problems.
It was not a major update the application where,
    iMovie
    Grageband
    iPhoto
    iWeb
    pages.
All up to the latest versions.
The only reaming update via software update the 10.4.8 update which we have help off from doing.
Could these last updates being causing the problems?
Would it be worth updating one of the machines that has experienced the problem to 10.4.8 to see if the continue?
    Or are we missing something?
Any advice on this would be great.
    Thanks

Your kernel panics are not caused by third-party software and is most likely hardware.
    Things you can try
Boot into Recovery and Repair the disk
Reset PRAM/NVRAM: OS X Mavericks: Reset your computer’s PRAM
Reset SMC (as you seem to have possible sleep problems): Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
You can try to check the RAM with Remember. http://www.kelleycomputing.net/rember/
Another way to check is to remove one stick and test, then swap. However, 2GB might not be enough to do what you want on the Mac. If it always happens on wake from sleep, then it could be a quick test.

  • Unable to perform update with Sony Bridge for Mac

I have not been able to update my Xperia Z1 (model C6906) through Sony Bridge for Mac.
While attempting this in SBM version 3.5 the following messages would appear:
There was an issue with the update engine. Please contact technical support. (reason:failed to start local server)
    then:
There was an issue with the update engine. Please contact technical support. (reason:failed to parse installer XML(code 11))
SBM has now updated to version 3.6(3602) and still no luck. The software is able to download the update engine but then remains stuck in the initializing phase, talking to update engine.
My phone is at build# 14.1.G.2.257. The proposed update seems minor, as the build # doesn't change but it would be great to have this issue resolved in time for kitkat 4.4
There doesn't appear to be a problem with the phone as the staff at the Sony Store were able to perform my initial out of the box update with PC Companion.
My Mac is running  OS10.9 and the java version is 1.6.0_65
Any advice would be much appreciated

In the mean time it would be worth updating the version of java you are running on your MAC:

  • Which is the best operating system to update my MacBook Air?

I've just invested in a brand new MacBook Air, and I'm wanting to get the best out of it, so is it worth updating my OS? and if so which is the best to buy? Thanks

Apple products always come with the latest. Just set up yopur system, and the run software updates to get any late changes from Apple. iLife 2011 is also included with your MBA. If the question you are actually asking has to do with other software versus OS, that is a much bigger question, and would be dependent on what you intend to do with the system.
On January 6th, the Mac App Store will go live, and make it very easy to find and load software.

No problem - we're here to help !
First stage is to go to this webpage and follow the instructions - this will tell you whether there is an update to your firmware :
    http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4305060
Second thing to be aware of - and you might think I'm being a bit of a doom monger here, but there is a possibility that things could go wrong and you could end up "bricking" your phone - meaning that you will need to take it to a Nokia Service Centre to get it sorted. Things that could cause this are a break in communication (disconnected cable, power failure etc.) between your phone and PC whilst the phone is being updated. So if you need your phone for mission critical stuff then it would be best to think twice before proceeding. The Americans have a saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it" !
Having said that I've upgraded 2 phones, 4 times and had no problems whatsoever, and the upgrades quite often bring improvements in terms of speed and reliability so the choice is yours.
If you have another phone (I've currently got the N95, N70 and 6230) then that'd be ideal because if you look at the worst case scenario (you don't need to worry when everything goes OK !) and the upgrade goes wrong you can always take the SIM out of the N70 and use it on the other phone (providing the phones were on the same network or SIM free).
One final word of advice - if you notice any instability issues with your PC (e.g. your PC intermittently crashes or reboots for no reason) I would advise you NOT to go ahead for the reasons outlined above - i.e. you could brick your phone. Instead find a reliable PC and do it from there.
You can also hedge your bets by backing up the phone memory onto your memory card (Menu->Tools->Memory Card->Options->Backup phone memory) AS WELL AS TO YOUR PC using Nokia's free PC Suite application which you can download from here :
    http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite
I hope I haven't put you off - but somehow I don't think you'd thank me if I painted a one sided picture for you !
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Edward

  • IPad (3rd gen)  ios 6.0.1 update - yes or no?

    hi all,
is it worth updating the 3rd gen iPad or iPad Mini or iPhone 4 to ios 6.0.1? I'm concerned about battery life and wifi issues, sharing/apple tv errors.... that i did not even update to ios 6. So is ios 6.0.1 a yes or no for you? and what problems have you encountered? (Please state which device you have updated). Your answers will help many like me who are....
Undecided whether to update or not.....

She has no idea on what to do as she isnt a developer (I'm not going to disclose her exact position).
I've tried to reset the content and settings and it restores it to factory default but it unfortunately still gives me the error. I'm going to try and install a beta version of ios 8 (thats still signed by apple) and see if that may work.
I'm debating on bring it into the apple store or not as that may be my only option.

  • IPhone + iTunes + Update 1.0.1 = Frustration

    Here is my error.
iTunes could not contact the iPhone software update server because you are not connected to the internet.
    Here are the facts.
    • I am on a LAN line at work.
    • I could access the iTunes store.
    Help?
    Is it even worth updating?

You should change the title to
    iPhone + iTunes + Update 1.0.1 + At Work = Frustration
Because for me iPhoneiTunesUpdate 1.0.1+At Home = No problems
I updated to 1.0.1 at home without any problems. I'd suggest you do the same. I think your workplace might have some type of firewall filtering in place that's denying the download.
