7.1.1 Wifi Bug

Since the 7.1.1 update, my iPhone AND iPad frequently establish false wifi connections.  It shows that I  am connected to my home or work router when I am miles away.   During this malfunction, my cellular data halts.   So I have to manually toggle wifi between transit.

Did that days before posting.  This has been occurring since the update.
Side Note:
Something was weird about that too, because it didn't solve the problem, but I strangely notice that I had to re-enter network passwords on my macs too.  As if setting from my iPhone sent the command to all iCloud devices. Could mean apple is still testing some of the old features of mobileMe that didn't officially feature in iCloud.  Or just a strange conicident

  • Verizon iPhone 5 Update Fixes Cellular Use on WiFi Bug

If you have been seeing higher cellular data usage while you are on WiFi, good news, Verizon has fixed this bug.  All you need to do is update your Carrier Settings to 13.1 and the bug is fixed.
For directions on how to update your Carrier Settings, see:
Verizon iPhone 5 Update Fixes Cellular Data Use on WiFi Bug - EVDOinfo.com
Be interesting to see if this fixes the issues for all those having the problem

I have the exact same problem!
I'm using the iPhone 5 now under Carrier M1 Singapore 13.0 and I have noted that over a period of 2 weeks, my cellular data usage has been about 2.7GB on an average. Since I know my bill has been capped at 3GB, I have since switched off my cellular data.
However, when I switched it on for a few days after using it for awhile, my cellular usage jumped by 1.2GB in just 1 day! And I used it as I would on an average day (like during an average day in the 2 weeks)!
I understand that there have been reports of a bug that have caused this problem in the US.

    http://www.iphonehacks.com/2012/10/iphone-5-cellular-data-usage-over-wifi-bug-on -other-carriers.html
But I'm hoping that there's a solution for those living in Singapore? Do I seek the help from my carrier as well? But if it's a problem with the phone, then my carrier definitely would not help, right?

  • IPhone wifi bug and battery drain in iOS 8.1

I have an iPhone 5s 32GB and updated it to iOS 8.1
the wifi bug is still there and my battery drains within 4 hours of normal use(no gaming)
the option to chose 2G/3G isnt there too
    any help ?
    Please fix these bugs soon

Power cycle the battery, let it fully drain to where your phone shuts off and then fully charge it without using it.
As for mail if you have it set to push try using manually fetch - the server will only check for emails when you open the mail app, instead of pushing the mail to your phone when you receive one.

  • Is somebody working on this wifi bug?

Is someone working on this wifi bug? Sucking the battery down as it bounces from 3G to wifi every 10 seconds or so. Can you down grade back to the old OS?

Reset Network Settings in Setting App. If still problem, Restore iPhone with current iTunes on computer. If still problem there is no fix.

  • 5800 Wifi Bug??

Hi all, I think there's a bug in the 5800 wifi's connection. After I connected to an access point, it seems that I am unable to disconnect from it, even though the access point is already out of range (few kilometres away!!).
The Connectivity menu still showed "Connected" status. Selecting "Disconnect WLAN" from the Options menu does not have any effect whatsoever. If i tried to connect to another access point, the phone will give error message saying "WLAN connection already active. Close it and try again".
    (I think i have the latest firmware e.g. v11.0.008 dated 09/12/08).
So far the only solution is to reboot the phone. Anyone experiencing the same situation? Anyone knows how to hard-killed the wifi connection?
    Cheers

    Hi all,
I've got the same trouble too.
But I've got also a more critical issue, linked to this wifi bug : my phone shutdown when it's in "stand by" mode.
It is due to the continue wifi connection : when I'm at home, the 5800 automatically connect to my access point, even if I don't use the network.
If I don't use my phone, it goes in "stand by" mode the following minutes.
I tried to find the option to switch off the wifi connection (under Settings > connection > connectivity > WLAN, then option button > parameter, then switch-off network scan. So my phone continue to connect to my access point.
I tried also to change the WLAN settings, in option "use the access point", I switched from "automatic" to "ask confirmation", but the connection is still active automatically, even if I try to disconnect !
I had noticed the same problem with other WLAN that I have authorized access : I had entered the security key in the phone.
The problem seems disapear when I switch off my access point.
For info, my firmware is V 10.0.010 (custom. version is 10.0.010.220.02) - Type is RM-356. - no update possible because it's an operator pack phone...
I hope someone can gives some elements of answer.
    Thanks by advance

  • IOS6 WIFI bug, still not work now, exhausted,help...

Been like this a week now, tried every possiable way still not any help at all, it can connect the wifi, internet works for 1or 2 minuts then will faile again, changed one router and tried all different settings as still not work, someone told me they don't have this problem they are using different router, maybe it's because IOS6 have sort of confict with some brand router? I am using TPlink, should I keep invest different router and try? Or should I wait for bug fixed?
Apple didn't give any suggestion to customer and time schedule for bug fixed, this is really **** me off...
I will try to visit apple store to check if they can change a new one with IOS5 for me.

They will not change you back to iOS 5. I asked.
I spent almost 1 week trying to resolve this. Reboot the ipad, reboot my router, delete the network, rejoin the network. Nothing seems to work. I called the Apple support, spent 2 days. After trying every single solution (that I've already done before calling.. duhhh)..
    They told me to:
    - Go to iTunes.Back up all your data, transfer all purchases to your computer. Of course when I tried to transfer all my purchases, they stuck for hours, then crash everything. I had to redo this 3 times. HOURS!!!
    - Restore your iPad from your iTunes. It will erase everything in your iPad, then start fresh as new
    - Turn off your iPad
    - Turn off your router, give it 10-15 minutes, turn on your router
    - Turn on your iPad, join the network
Even though finally it looks ok. I am still going to return this iPad and get a replacement. I just don't feel confident with the device anymore. I just bought my iPad less than 3 months, still got the box. The support told me I could swap my iPad, all I need is to see the Apple Genius. So I made appointment, otherwise the Genius won't see you.
I got tons of questions again from the Genius. He said it is my router problem. Basically, I have a crappy router that came from my internet provider. He said that since they opened the store, he only knew TWO people came in with WIFI issue. I told him, all my other devices connect just fine... but of course, they're "oranges" not Apple.
I thought I'll be getting my replacement right away, but no.. Genius had to place an order first, and they will call me again, and I have to make another appointment to pick it up. I wonder why they don't have one in stock. It's the NEW iPad!!! I hope they're not getting my replacement from some kinda refurbished factory.
This is my first purchase with Apple. So far it is not a pleasant experience.

  • TO FIX IOS 6 WIFI BUG

to fix the ios 6 bug when setting up there are numerous ways to fix it
    1. Restart the device (Hold The home and start button for 10 secs)
    2. Restart Your Router (Unplug and plug back in the power cord)
    3. Restore the Device thru itunes
if none succeds contact apple support

Turning off wifi makes no difference. Everything turned off but cellular radio - no use of phone - battery drained in 4 hours. I just bought the iPhone 5 to replace my 4S - which I regret. Even on airplane mode, the battery still drains.

  • Iphone Wifi Bug

Hey everyone out there having wifi problem's with the new software, I have found something that works for me to fix the bug. I don't know why this work's no idea into the actual software portion of it but I'm on the original 2g Iphone running 3.1.3. I have been having serious trouble with my wifi for a few week's now and have restored my phone many times usually resulting in a temporary fix, I tried every fix on the web including all the apple support and still no luck. (+The apple support I find to be very pathetic!!! it's defiantly not a Hardware problem+) Anyway randomly I stumbled onto this fix so try it out hopefully it work's for you.
    What to do:
    1. Be within range of your wifi service and have everything set up for it. (+or if you can't see the network just be in range+)
    2. Call a friend or just anyone just have an active call on your iphone. (+I think using the EDGE or 3G network help's somehow+)
    3. Then hit home while still on the phone and try and use wifi.
Presto! For me it worked flawlessly and for a good while after I got off the phone also.
    Hope this help's someone!

  • WiFi bug with phone app.

I searched the board, didn't see anything about this. I've verified that this happens on 2 different Pre's, and also numerous times on both.
If I am on call and connected via WiFi to my router, then a 2nd call beeps in, when I disconnect from all calls, the phone will not hang up. Ever. You can wait hours. You'll still be able to hear your voice echo in the phone as if you're connected to a dead line. The only solution for this bug I've found is to restart the phone, and then it lags on shutting down, and eventually you hear the "click" of the call disconnecting.
Has this been reported? Is this the best place to report a software bug?
    Thanks!
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

i have learned that turning on airplane mode will end the call without a full blown restart. once you turn off airplane mode, you can make calls/send texts/use the web again.

  • Wifi Bug issues

I suspected there is a software bug issues with the Wifi once you first install the Windows 10 Preview Technical Enterprise.

  • A1 Wifi Bug - Fix or No Fix?

Before you asked - Yes, I have read all the old threads about the wifi issue in A1 and in fact, browsing this part of the Lenovo forum since I got my 16GB A1 in early Feb. Silly me foir not doing enough research and instead convince myself to believe blindly to the Lenovo brand name, but that's my fault anyway.
From the official Lenovo Chinese forum for A1, I already learn that the buggy wifi driver isn't anything new, but in fact can be traced back to the original 2GB version of A1 sold in China since Aug~Oct last year. That's at least 6 months of no solution and if I may, really bad customer support. What to do with an android tablet with a wifi issue so bad that it will crash the whole system for up to 20 times a day? (No kidding, that actually happened when I was trying to figure out how to upgrade the OS). My hope of a simple internet tablet that I can check email and browse website with is crashed as well, with the feeling of getting robbed of $250 no less.Worst of, Lenovo is actually launching new tablets while my A1 has been left for dust collecting duty for weeks because it can't do what it was supposed to be capable of.
My questions to Levono are: Will we ever see a fix for the buggy wifi driver? Is there any effort current being dedicated to fixing this issue? Would someone care to answer, or should I give up on Lenova all together and just feel lucky that I didn't pick up the S100 wihch I almost bought together with A1? Anyone?
I am not even angry any more, just sad.

You didn't vote because you have no problem; you don't know about the Wifi issue because you don't have any. But just because you didn't notice as many reports as me doesn't mean there ain't that many. After all, why should someone care or notice a problem when it doesn't affect him/her at all? It is just simple logic. It is, and I assumed, the same logic that drives gmarkall to try to find a solution for the Wifi drive - because it affects him as well, and that's why he care, and that's why I care.
I notice hundreds or report because I was actively looking / reading / searching about it for the last two months trying to find a solution for myself. If you have had spent that much time like me, I am sure you can find over 16 people that suffer the same problem. Also, I don't mean just official forums. I find quite a few postings about the same issue from popular Chinese forums like imp3.com to small unofficial Lenovo forums.
You want 1 link and I have given you 4, do you want me to dig up handreds of links as well to prove my point? Or if it is even remotely possible that someone from Lenovo does come to this thread and post something useful, like acknowledging the issue or even denying it? I really don't care what it will be. At least I'll get an straight answer that way to decide whether I should keep my A1 and wish for a better tomorrow, send it back and hope I won't get a defected unit back or just toss it out and call it a day. I have waited blindly for 2 months, and frankly I am tired of it..

  • Wifi bugs and poor camera photos with noise

    Hy everyone,
Five days ago I've got my new Xperia Z1 from Vodafone.
So far I encountered 2 big problems with the wifi:
    1. The wifi turns off by itself after a few minutes, with or without wifi connection (to be clear the "keep wifi on during sleep" is set to always. "Avoid poor connection"  disabled)
    2. Cannot find my wifi network without restarting the phone and when connected I have a poor connection with only one line. I also use a HTC Desire X and the connection is full.
    I have a Tp-link TL-WR841N 300M wireless router
Another problem is the poor photo quality of this camera, with a lot of noise in the image

    Thx bud for the answer.
Still that doesn't fix the poor signal problem.
About the wifi auto turn off, I think was the "location based wifi" setting from power management. Turned that off and the wifi remains on.
Another interesting thing was about my wifi network discovery. If I disable the WPS in my router, then my wifi becomes undiscoverable for the Z1.
    Hope it helps
Have you checked on your laptop or wirless devices what range you are getting with your router? download a software for your laptop called Inssider3 http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/ Free software. what you can do is check if anyone has over lapping channels which conflict with your network. if your loooking at your icon on your phone it will fluate run a speed test on it speedtest software avalible in play store and check your speed your getting on your wifi on your phone and your laptop. (http://www.speedtest.net/)
i think personally the signal icon is abit playing up as it happens with mine even if im next to the router or far away.
tell me what results your get from your laptop and and phone.
Just before your run these test on your phone go to... Settings>wifi>click your wifi name> read the signal strength and reply back with the information you have found.
    dont forget a kudos =)

  • Does any one know when can I get the wifi bug fixed?

Tried anything I can do to even invested a new router, nothing changed, still losing connection from time to time, once a minute.
Does any one know when apple will fix this bug?

He moved it to another screen, he moved it into a folder, or he turned on restrictions for Safari.
Check Settings > General > Restrictions.  If restrictions are enabled for Safari, Safari is disabled and its icon is removed from the Home screen.
You can also reset the home screen layout.  Settings >General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout.  That will place all the original apps in their original location with all added apps following in alphabetical order.

  • Is there a WIFI bug with IOS 5?

Ever since I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 5, it keeps dropping WIFI. I used to use it for taking online lectures via AdobeConnect. Now, the iPad drops the wifi connection totally 60+ minutes into the lecture. Nothing works to fix it other than time (several minutes) which is not good when watching a live lecture.
It's happening to me every week now. Renewing DHCP lease doesnt work, nor forgetting the network and resetting it - it takes several mins to reconnect and get DHCP address. Every other non IOS 5 device in the house has no issue.
Device had no issue with same network gear before upgrade.

It is also on the iPhone.

  • WIFI Bug at FW 3.0, that´s the question!!!

The world waited for 3G and 3GS, but not for a iphone whitout WIFI!!!
The problem exists at all countries, I´m from Brazil,I have Iphone since november 07, and that´s is really impossible use a iphone whitout WIFI.
I dont understand what was my fault, because I only did a upgrade to 3.0 at my new IPhone received from TIM Brasil, and this crash my wifi and also 3G connection...only edge, edge, edge, whit taht we cannot do web, video streaming etc..
PLEASE APPLE help your friends whit a new fw correction...FW 3.1 NOW NOW NOW!!!
    Olavo from Brazil

I agree everyone should relax. I posted some info on that other thread, but was frustrated by the amount of venting {I'm no apple lover, just no time for rants}. However, clearly, there is some sort of problem.
I, and every other iPhone {including 2G, 3G, & 3GS} user here at my work {about 12 total}, have issues with my WIFI after 3.0 update. None of the 3G or 2G's had issues with 2.2.1 OS on them. The WIFI hardware is made by SonicWall. I CAN connect to some types of WIFI hardware {like all my Linksys stuff at home} perfectly.
I suspect they have some compatibility issues with certain routers.
roaminggnome, have you {or anyone else} been sucessfull with a SonicWall WIFI?
Also, my 2G had issues with a BEFW11S4, but the 3GS did not.
Has anyone seen this issue discussed anywhere other than these discussion boards? I listen to the "Today in iPhone" podcast, and haven't heard any mention of it. Based on my 12/12 hit rate here at work, I'm surprised it hasn't surfaced somewhere more mainstream.
