7.1 Quirks in Browsing/Selecting/Zooming in Library

After installing the new iPhoto update, I can no longer drag and drop selected photos when viewing them individually in the library. I also can't scroll through photos if a photograph is being viewed individually, and if I select the zoom bar and zoom out to select the next photo, iPhoto takes me to the beginning, middle, or end of my photo library, but never on or around where the once viewed photo was.
Is anyone else having this issue? It's terribly counter productive.

Fonts active on your machine. Use Font Book (in your applications folder) to turn them off and back on again if necessary.

I can't replicate these issues on either of my machines. With a pic at full size in the iPhoto Window I can easily scroll through pics with the mouse or move from pic to pic using the arrow keys. Also, when I drop back using the slider I land at the pic that was last selected.
Are you finding this behaviour in Photos or Events view?
Try backing up and then rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.

Browser Selection using Javascript

Hi All,
I am using a multi select ibrowser for a query data set.I am calling a function on selection of that item on browser. But on page load I need to take default as first row of that browser and need to call the function related to that. But i am willing to keep that row showing as selected on browser. Is there anyway i can do that using javascript....?
There is one more button on the same screen which says 'Show for next Row' like that sort. On clicking that button I need to unselect the earlier one and need to select the next row of that browser and call the same browser select function.
I didn't get any applet method for selecting a browser row using javascript.
Any ideas will be appreciated....

You can use this method to display an item by default as the ist row of ibrowser on page load .
document.Appletname.getBrowserObject().setDefaultItem(variable_name);
To select next row of an ibrowser after click 'Show for next Row' button, you can use this method:
var vVariable = document.Appletname.getBrowserObject().getItemAt(int itemNo);
document.Appletname.getBrowserObject().setDefaultItem(vVariable );
Just try this out.This may work.

6710 browser constant zooming

i have a 6710 navigator phone. great specs but a lot of problems. i bought it at gsmweb.nl, never buy anything there! they sent me 3 broken phones in a row, i specifically pointed out the problems but they just kept sending me broken phones.
i'm stuck with a broken 6710 now, i refuse to keep sending phones and waiting for a month and receiving another broken phone.
Nokia, when will there be a firmware update that solves these problems:
- keys not responding
- random zooming
- internet browser random zooming making it unusable

you will need to keep an eye on nokia software updater or subscribe to a service that notifies you of an update have you tried this already
another thing is your phone sim free as software updates can take longer if the phone is locked to a network

Strange goings on here with my Libraries: Projects opened from Projects View are no longer (3.3) selected on the Library tab of the Inspector. When, in Projects View, I double-click a Project, that Project's contents are shown in the Browser, but the selection shown on the Library tab of the Inspector remains on "Projects" near the top of the tab.
This is, imho, _very very very bad_. Can someone confirm this behavior on their machine? Is this announced or expected?

Help! Can't save to disc/backup my iTunes! NO OPTION to save OR back up to disc my iTunes Library appears in the toolbar when I select 'File', then 'Library'. Just 'Organize Library...', 'Export Library...', 'Import Playlist...', and 'Export Playlist...'

I can't save to disc OR backup my iTunes Library! iTunes support instructions are to simply select 'File', then 'Library', then select 'Back Up to Disc', but when I try to the only options that appear are 'Organize Library...', 'Export Library...' then below those are 'Import Playlist...' and 'Export Playlist...' (which appears in the list, but I cannot select). No option to save my library appears at all. Just those four. I've had no problems syncing, playing, adding or purchasing with my account and my iTunes version is up to date. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and what I should do so I can save my library?

FlashPro CS6 BUG - selecting items in library with textfields - fixed in latest 5.5.1, back in CS6!

This bug was removed from updated CS5.5, and it is back in it's extreme annoyance in CS6.
Whenever I select in the library a symbol, which contains textfields who's font is set to a custom font (i.e., Text-Project, linked to Verdana), for EACH of the textfields in the selected item, and in all containing items, the output window traces:
"Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts" setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts."
On certain items, it gets traced 20 or 30 times, and it slows down library selection incredibly, making the library almost unusable.

I just select an item in the library, which contains textfields with custom font set (that is when you name a font yourself).
Flash freezes, for some complex items it freezes up to 60 seconds, and when it comes back, in the output window you have one message for each textfield, also in nested clips.
For complex clips now I go to make a cup of coffee if by mistake I click on them in the library

Web browser only zooms, will not scroll

Completely new to Palm here. Have had the Pre Plus for a week on Verizon. Having what I think is a minor problem that I can't seem to figure out and it is driving me crazy. I did search these forums and haven't found anyone with a similar problem which concerns me, but I may just be an idiot.
When I go to use the web browser and want to scroll, I move my single finger tip up and down on the screen as Palm instructs. But instead of scrolling, the page zooms in and after that the navigation buttons (forward, refresh) are disabled (touching them does nothing). So the problems I am having are:
1. I cannot scroll. The scrolling gesture only results in zooming.
2. After the zoom, the navigation buttons are disabled.
Anyone run into this? Is it a bug or am I doing something completely wrong or is there a setting somewhere I need to change?

Tapping on the screen would zoom, and dragging you finger on the screen would scroll.
Are you lifting you finger off the screen while trying to scroll?
Is this occurring on only one particular web page?
If the answer to both questions is no, then you may need to perform a restart from Device Info, select Reset Options, then Restart. You can also clear cookies and cache in the browser under the drop-down menu at the top select Preferences, then choose Clear Cookies, Clear Cache. You may wants to try clearing cookies and cache first before trying the restart.

How do I adjust text size in toolbar, in tandem with browser text zoom, WITHOUT limiting the screen space of my browser window as a whole? Changing Windows DPI reduces browsability of window as displayed.

I tried to customize PC settings for my mom, whose site is failing. So I plugged in the nosquint Firefox addon and upped the font size. Additionally, I tried to make desktop text etc. (non-browser text) larger. When I accomplished this through the Windows DPI adjustment, the browser would not open to full screen width (at least, not through any means other than F11, which is something beyond my mother's understanding or patience). With DPI 120, the maximized browser will not go full screen, but will instead hold left of screen, and display less than the full width of the page being viewed (this make my mom give up. And who wants to scroll laterally anyways?). Is there some way to pair the functionality of Windows DPI boosts with Firefox text/window zoom? Thanks.

Try to set the pref layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to 2 on the about:config page.
To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

Browser selection problems

In my laptop I had started with 10.2 and then upgraded to 10.4 skipping 10.3. In an effort to solve some other issues with burning dvds on teh adivice of a Mac genuis.
Well while doing the upgrade and installing everything all over from scratch 10.2 thru 10.4 to install my base programs after I wiped my HD for the virgin installs I installed AOL my main brower and for teh first time even got it right where the Modem counter clock shows up in the menu bar when using the modem to log on. (I am in a area and stuck on dial up).
Well turned out that it appears that it was either my Mother board or drives tha where causing my problems as I had sent out my laptop thru the apple store for repairs and afetr a 2 moths nitemare they gutted my machine and in the process thet trashed my HD. I had all basic files on back up no loss but a pain to reinstall everything, this this time though 10.4 was installed direct and not upgraded thru 10.2 install with the Startup disk that came with the G4 powerbook.
Well somewhere along this path AOL is no longer my default browser, Safari comes up when a link is clicked in a outside file plus in the menu bar the modem clock no longer counts the online connection when in AOL.
I can log on and dial up ok thru AOL but sometimes causes problems when in other programs and you click on say a link and the system keeps trying to go thru Safari.
I have gone into preferences and clicked on AOL dial up and tried that, followed the AOL instructions fro install and setup which worked before APPLE service gutted my mac. Tried various settings but can't seem to change to AOL as the main browser.
About the only thing I haven't done is uninstall safari and reboot.
I normally have AOL, Safari and Firefox as my browser internet connection in that order of priority, which is my preference, any suggestions?

I can only show you, how I had mine set, when using the Apple Internal Modem with Dial-Up, on an iMac G3 running Panther 10.3.9, but they should be the same for Tiger.
NETWORK/INTERNET SYSTEM PREFERENCES (Apple Internal Modem Using Dial-Up) Adjustments may be necessary for different Mac models, systems, and connection method.
While AOL is not loaded, go to:
System Preferences > Network > Location: Select Automatic
Show: Select Internal Modem Or however you connect
On the PPP screen, click PPP Options. Check ONLY
Disconnect when user logs off
On the TCP/IP screen, Configure using IPv4: Select Using PPP
On the Modem screen, Select your modem from the list. I'm using an iMac (Summer 2001), and I have Apple Internal 56K Modem (v.90) selected.
Check Enable error correction and compression in modem
Wait for dial tone before dialing
Show modem status in menubar This one isn't necessary, I just like it there!
Also select your Country.
Then, Location: Automatic
Show: Network Port Configurations
Make sure Internal Modem, or however you connect, is checked and at the top of the window.
Click Apply Now at the bottom of the screen.

Selective Zoom of A JPanel

I have an JPanel to which I am drawing an image. It is appearing rather small so I would like
the user to have control over the image, so a mouse click in a specific location would zoom in on
that region of the image, and a release would revert the image to it's actual size.

In it's current form it just scales the image - as result all I see is the top left corner of the image scaled. As stated
I would like to make it a more selective and localized zoom, which seems reasonable and fairly easy to implement but confusing to me.

See those 0, 0 in the drawImage method call? Calculate negative values to set those two such that the zoomed portion is displayed instead.

Well, I've been looking for an image viewer where you can select where on the image you want to zoom into.
For example. Say you download hotchick.png and you don't like her face, but want to zoom into the rest. You could select where you want to zoom into. Think of GIMPs rectangle select tool.

I've tried every image viewer I could find and none of them have this feature, seriously? It's such a basic feature..

Metadata Browser - selected view

I may be missing something, however....
It appears to me that the 'Metadat Browser' only acts on the entire 'Library'. Is it possible to select a folder...or just a selection of images...and have the "Metadata Browser' so the breakdown for just those items?

Just select all the images you want to change and go to the Menu »Metadata > XMP > Export XMP Metadata to File«. This will create a sidecar (text file) to each of your image files containing all the Metadata Lightroom uses. Now find all those .xmp files with your favourite File Browser (Spotlight on Mac, ??? on Windows) and load them into a text or xml editor that supports batch search and replace with multiple files (I use TextMate on the Mac, I'm not sure what the Windows world has to offer on this). Within those text files you'll find a line like this: <aux:Lens>EF-S17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM</aux:Lens> Replace the text as you see fit or create the line just above the aux:ImageNumber entry if no aux:Lens entry exists. Now go back into Lightroom (make sure all the images are still selected) and go to »Metadata > XMP > Import XMP Metadata from File«. Give LR some time to update the Metadata Browser and have fun. Bug in Lightroom 3 - Folder Browsing Selecting Incorrect Text Case

I seem to have stumbled upon a bug in Lightroom 3. I was at first wondering why, when I had Auto Import enabled, no images were appearing in the Lightroom Catalog, even though they were being copied to the _Inbox folder which I created on my QNAP NAS to contain them. However, after the import had finished, I would Sync the folder and there they were.
This was very confusing until today, when I noticed a seemingly identical folder in the Folder dialog shown in the first image. This one *was* receiving the Auto-Imported files as well, except that this one was updating the Lightroom catalog correctly.
What is the difference between them? The second (working) Auto Import folder has the folder 'files' in lower case. This causes Lightroom to see them as different. Presumably this is for Unix support. This is logical. The QNAP NAS device is Linux based after all.
However, when I tried to correct the folder path entry in the auto-import dialog, it displays the 'files' folder in the wrong case (lower) even though both the QNAP folder browser and Windows Explorer display it with initcaps as 'Files'. See other images below demonstrating this.
So I'm stuck. As the Lightroom Auto-Import folder browser displays the folder in the wrong case, Lightroom will always see this folder as two different folders, even though they're the same. I can't rename the folder in lower case, or I risk losing all the Lightroom edits I've carried out against thousands of images in the folder named as 'Files'. Anyway, I *WANT* it named in upper case - this is an Adobe bug, not a QNAP or Windows bug.

It looks like I've finally solved this problem, but I suspect I did so the hard way ... if I even understand where in the process things were fixed. As previously posted, when I tried to "move" one folder in LR into the other, LR got confused and deleted the entire contents of one of them! This was the existing one I had been using. Thousands of photos gone! I searched the hard drive and even used disk recovery software but, no, they had vanished. I luckily retrieved these photos from a backup drive, so that's good, but it makes one nervous to fiddle around with this particular problem.
Anyway, BEFORE I imported the new photos from the back-up drive, I first deleted LR prefs and in the process stumbled upon old LR prefs from LR2 and LR3 Beta. Cleaned them all out -- including LR prefs -- and wondered if that had anything to do with the problem. Then rather than Import>Copy the photos, I worked at the Finder level and copied them into position in the <2010> folder, retaining the month and date folder structure. This is at the Finder level. Then in LR, I used Import>Add and the photos properly were added to the existing <2010> folder (the newer of the two that was still there after the disaster ... the new one that LR is intent on importing into). It all works now.

N8 Anna updated Browser Pinch zoom not working

When i try to do a Pinchzoom in Yahoo mail the pinch zoom functionality is not working but it works with Facebook... do i need to change some setting in the phone to enable this ?
checked with other phone devices pinch zoom doesnt work in great apple iphones
