7.1 Speaker cable?

Alright, just bought a new Audigy 2 Notebook ZS, plugged it in to my computer, then attached the speaker cable to my Inspire T7700 7.1 system..... then realized the docking cable had no reception for the side speakers (like from the subwoofer to the docking cable, it's a grey plug).
So I guess I missed the boat on that one, with my Inspire T7700 I got a 4 male to 4 male speaker cable, leaving me with one too many and therefore no side speaker hookup.
So... where can I buy the new 4 male 3 male 7.1 speaker cable? Kinda sunk here with my side speakers, been searching the site and can't find the cable unless it's shipped with the sound system.
Thanks in advance.

SnIpErMiKe,
The Inspire 7700 should have come with the 7.1 cable. Have the package content again.
If you still do have it, it's best to contact support and see if they have this available.

Having problems connecting iMac(late 2006) running 10.7.5 to a Samsung Flat Screen TV using separate audio/speaker cable and HDMI standard cable, mini-DVI to HDMI video converter.  TV displays generic Apple galaxy background and "some" windows (e.g. screen resolution choices).   It does not show Mail or Safari menus.  System preferences'  display "gathered" the Samsung and chose its resolution.  I did not find a way to select the Samsung as my display.
In addition to having old hardware, we have Verizon FIOS providing internet and TV access.  Is there any way to make this work for us?  We would like to stream video (Netflix) and view shows from the Web.  Do we need Apple TV to do this?  Or is it not possible with our old iMac?  My husband thinks that our Airport could be a factor.
    Thank you

Lately, I have been seeing a lot of posts with users trying to use their Macs/iMacs to mirror their streaming video from their Macs to an HDTV.
There are, actually, many alternatives to choose from than just from a Mac.
You need to have or invest in a WiFi capable router for all of these examples.
Apple TV only integrates with WiFi and newer Mac hardware. So, if you want to have total integrated experience, if you have a 2011 Mac or newer, you might as well pay the $100 for the AppleTV box.
If you have a older Mac, like I have noticed many users do, then you have other options.
If you want to elimate long cable clutter and having your Mac at the mercy of your TV all of the time,  you can still use the AppleTV box independently or purchase cheaper alternative media streaming boxes from Roku, Sony, Boxee or any number of electronics manufacturers that now have media streaming boxes and media streaming capability built into DVD/Blu-ray players.
These eliminate long cable clutter by being close to the HDTV where shorter, less expensive cables can be used.
Another alternative for iPad users is to use an iPad with the USB/HDMI video adapter and use your iPad as the streaming box. This ties up your iPad in much the same way as it does with your Mac, but again the iPad can be close to the TV and use minimal cables to the TV.
Another alternative to is to use a combination of an iPad and your Mac to stream content that is only available to stream online from a computer. In this case, you can use a desktop remote app on your iPad and Mac. A good and cheap Desktop Remote app is Splashtop Remote. This allows you to completely connect your iPad remotely, over Wifi, to your iMac desktop. The app streams both video and sound to the iPad which is still connected to your HDTV. The resultant stream video picture will be smaller than the size of your HDTV, but it will still be plenty large enough to watch. Again, if you own a iPad and an Intel Mac, this method also allows minimal cabling to the TV.

  • Speaker Cable Quality

I'm decorating and want to install speaker wires in the wall before I buy a Megaworks system. What standard are Creative speaker wires? Can I buy any high quality speaker cable or does it have to be Creative cable. Naturally I'd like to buy the best as the wire is going in the wall.
I gather that there is a plug at either end of your cable.
Is this a standard jack plug?
I'd like to get the room finished before I install the speakers. Thanx

The creative speaker wire is of good quality. I use QED silver micro which is about the same guage, but silver plated to bring out the treble from the speakers a bit more - as long as bare wire is connected to the speaker and the speaker cable terminated eith RCA phono plugs on the other then the sound is fine. The full scale silver anni'versary are very thick and difficult to solder to the RCA phono plug- if you were to try Id suggest using a variable heat soldering station set to 300C to avoid cold solder points.

Thanks for the response- your comment "checking any receiver to make sure it has a multi-in jack that has an input etc" ? Do you mean output? I'm not aware of any home theatre receiver available with inputs for each speaker.
With the MediaCenter 2004 Edition software I do not have the option of changing settings for the sound card. I had originally planned on purchasing a receiver that passed audio through without any enhancements (AC3, Neo etc) instead relying on the card to handle conversions. With MCE it looks like I will have to use the external receiver to deal with changes. Is this going to work with the Audigy 2 ZS + MCE2004?

  • S750 Speaker cable

    Hi All
Does anybody know where to purchase the cables that run from the sub to the satellites as I require replacement cables for my S750 system?
I have tried maplin but with no success.
Also do creative still sell the speaker stands for the S750's? thay are not on there website.
Would creative be interested in selling these products directly to me?
    Thanks

    Matt,
The cable the original poster is referring to is from the sub to the satellites, not the 4:4 cable. Contact Customer Support if you need that cable to see if they can supply you with one.
As far as the colours go, I'm not sure what you mean, putting them into the jack? Or do you mean you need to know which colours (on the sub) are for which input? The manual should cover that, if you need other information please be more specific as to what exactly you need.

  • Replacement Speaker Cables for Gigaworks S750

    - Some of the cables for the satellite speakers in my system are not long enough for the room I'm trying to fit the speakers into. I've looked everywhere for cables that have the raw exposed wire on one end to connect to the back of the speaker and the single rca jack that goes into the subwoofer. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Where are you located? If you are in the USA, I can help you with trhe repair.

  • Fed up with unplugging speaker cabl

    Hi,
I have a xfi xtreme music card. i use software such as virtual dj. I run two channels out of the soundcard into an external mixer. I also have another cable running from the mixer to the line in on the soundcard so that I can record my mixes. I'm finding it a real pain having to keep switching cables at the back of the machine - if I want to watch a movie/play a game then I have to unplug all the cables used for my dj'ing and insert those for the 7. speakers. Is there anything someone can suggest to make this easier? Perhaps there is some sort of speaker switching hub or something that I could run all of my cables into and change the setup at the flick of a switch?thanks?

I just posted on this problem on another thread, before I found this one.
    Personally, I am disgusted.
This is not a simple malfunction : it is a SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD!!
NOT a question of owners mistreating their Mac/Apple product but
    A SERIOUS DESIGN/MATERIAL flaw.
Now that I have read this thread, I know I am not alone, as Apple support would have me believe.
The Store clerk (sorry I do not buy into the "Genious" thang) politely told me that somehow this
melted power cord was MY FAULT!  Apparently, I have somehow "allowed" the cord to "bend" in
a direction that "stresses" the delicate item, and "caused" too much pressure at the junction which "made" the cord break.
GIVE ME A BREAK APPLE!!!!  I do not care how pretty your power cord is!! I want it to last.
As I mentioned in my other post, I visit enough cafes to check this out.  In fact i have told at least three people
    a) not to leave this melted, wire exposed cord plugged in when it is out of their sight (FIRE HAZARD)
    b) That they must attempt to at least tape the exposed wires.
Although, again, I DID tape mine and guess what? The standard industry electric tape DISOLVED the rubber on my cord.
What are we to do?  Apple Support (yes, I appreciate their difficulties, and find them always very very polite has whezzled its way out of this question at least three times now!
OH - more on my "CrackBook" later...that's the OTHER Apple flaw I am spending much of my good time on trying to fix....
gosh I want to love you Apple!  You're a nice guy, but NOT reliable marriage material!

  • Cable question (Older SB & bundled speake

Hoping someone here can answer this question. A few years ago I the Creative Soundblaster Li've! x-Gamer 5. and the Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500 speaker system.
I had been using the two with the tandem audio cable that came with them. This works fine. However my desk configuration has changed and two problems present themselves. First, the cable is now way too short and second the computer is no longer in a place where I can easilly swap the speaker cable with my headphones.
So what I'd like to do is connect my heaphones to the standard analog out (that I've been using) and connect the speakers through the "Digital out jack". Problem? In the course of two moves all the little extra connectors and wires have long since disappeared into the ether.
I've got the two manuals out here and the only name I can find for the digital cable is "Digital DIN" connected to a "Minijack-to-DIN". The Digital DIN connects to the speakers, then to the minijack converter and it to the soundcard. Searching for "Digital DIN" or "Minijack-to-DIN" gets me exactly nowhere on either Creative's store or anywhere else.
    I did find this: http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=58&product=0370 &nav=features
Which looks like the adater I need? However it doesn't seem to be for sale anymore. Frustrating. :\
Help! Where the heck do I find these things?

The adapter for the DTT2500 is here:

I didn't find the mini-DIN cable itself. However, I'd suggest calling the non-technical Customer Support number and approach this as requesting some replacement parts for your speakers.

  • Special extension cable for one front speaker of T6100 System

    Hello,
i`ve bought an T600 5.1 speaker system recently.
Because i would like to use it as a surround system in my room (about 5x3 metres) i mounted it on the wall.
Now i`ve the problem that ALL cables are far to short (also the front speaker cables) to attach them to the subwoofer (without extension i would have to put the subwoofer on the desk to connect one front box correctly).
But the real problem is that one front speaker uses a different cable than the other one`s (a proprietary Creative cable, it has 9 pins and looks like PS/2 but is different) and i don`t know where to get it from because in normal shops you won`t get it.
The other boxes use a cinch cable so i know where to get them from.
I`ve already contacted Creative but they say that they are not able to send me such a cable because it`s not available for them as replacement and also not in their store.
I`ve also seen another thread here like this one but the problem hasn`t been solved there.
It would be very great if you can help me !
    Thank you very much !
    Greetings,
    Thomas

I have been emailing Creative about this issue (as I have been experiencing the same problem) for the last 3 weeks, and each time I got a response I was given a useless non-answer, or they would use it as an opportunity to plug their own products, or I was pointed towards paying for their customer service line. I became brain-meltingly irritated with this and resigned to calling the helpline number, but the telephone number provided on the website is about 400 digits long and looks like it's got an international dialling code in front of it- and it's not one I'm familiar with. I tried omitting individual digits of it, or sets of digits with every combination I could think of, but the phone kept failing to recognise it as a number. Is it that hard to post a normal-looking telephone number on a website so idiots like me don't want to set fire to themselves in fits of angered frustration?
I can't find anything on the internet about this and I'm amazed that more people don't seem to have this problem - the Digital Din connector & lead for the front-right speaker is far too short and after 3 weeks of trying to squeeze an answer out of creative, they finally informed me that they don't stock them and that 'it might be sold in
electrical store but it may or may not work.'
    Cheers.

  • Want to use Apple TV to serve existing 4 room wired speaker installation

I purchased a home with existing 4 room speaker system.  All wires terminate in basement where previous owner had some type of media control center.  Each speaker zone has control for volume in the various rooms.
My goal is to reconnect the speakers and use my Apple TV (previous generation) as my music source.  I want to keep this as simple and cheap as possible.
I am assuming I will need an Amp/receiver and a multi-speaker splitter to plug all the speaker wires into.  I know I can use the Apple Remote app on my IPhone to control it remotely.
What I would like to hear about from the community is
    1. opinions on this set up.  Is there an easier or simpler way to drive and control the speaker?
    2. if this arrangment makes sense, has anyone done this and what equipment works best?
    Thanks

If you have zoned volume control (ie control for each room) your simplest set up would be to join all four sets of speaker cables into a single output from an amp/receiver, you would need to turn the volume to zero in rooms where you didn't want audio but you will need to judge for yourself whether that is convenient for you or not.
Your other option is to use an amp with at least 4 separately controlled outputs or a multiplexer, this would be controlled from one central point and so would allow you to turn rooms off without actually visiting them.
