Since upgrading to 7.2 i noticed that previously purchased songs that I had converted to mp3's will now not transfer to my ipod?!
Any thoughts on this?

  • MAJOR itunes and ipod problems

Ok I bought a brand new ipod shuffle today but I already had itunes installed.I installed itunes yesterday and placed some music in the library so it would be ready for today so I could transfer the music straight across. So itunes was working fine and I really got into the software.Today I eagerly plugged in my ipod shuffle and waited for something to happen but nothing did.I double clicked on itunes and even though it booted up the background was totally transparent I could just make out the fonts. An error message came up saying that the software needed to run my ipod wasnt installed correctly and that I needed to reinstall.
I have spent all of today reinstalling all Apple components, trying to find any information that will help on this site all to no avail. The shuffle is charging but itunes is completely knackered.Even with a fresh install the menus are transparent and it just will not connect to the shuffle.
After reading some posts on here it appears that there is a problem with the latest itunes software which doesnt help me at all.As a last resort I might try and find an older version of itunes can anybody help me with that please? Also can anybody help me with my problem or shed some light on it?
If I cant get it to work im taking the thing straight back. This is the first Apple product I have ever bought and its certainly going to be the last im well annoyed.

Thanks to everybody who tried to help me out. Despite installing an earlier version itunes still wouldnt work properly. It slowed up the computer and the itunes background was totally transparent with only text barely showing up. No matter what version I tried everytime I plugged in the shuffle it still said that the itunes software for the ipod was not installed correctly and I needed to reinstall.
After hours spent trying to make it work by uninstalling and reinstalling intunes and quicktime ive given up. Quicktime also had the same problem when booted up as the menu screen was distorted so apples software just doesnt work. The item has been sent straight back for a refund...

  • Envy 100 410A Web Services and Ipod problems

    Hi,
I purchased the Envy 410A and I'm having a few problems.  I have two Macbooks and a 4th gen Ipod Touch setup on a wireless network with a Linksys WRT100 router.  First, what's working:
I successfully installed the printer on both computers through USB and I can print wirelessly from each without any difficulties.  (I set a fixed IP address for the printer to avoid having to 'find' it each time it got a new address by DHCP.)
    Here are my problems:
    1) On setup, the printer successfully connected to the HP web service and printed out a code for ePrinting.  I entered this code and was able to print via email.  However, sometime between last night and today (and after I installed 6 updates) the printer reported that it no longer had an email address.  I turned off Web Services to troubleshoot, but now when I try to enable it I get the "Problem Connecting to the Web Services Server" error.  Powercycling the router and/or printer does not fix this.  Nor does turning off the printer's wireless functions for 5 minutes.  I've tried restoring factory defaults, but it did not actually restore anything.  How can I fix this?  Is the server down, or is something screwed up?
    2) My iPod Touch is completely updated to iOS 4.2, bluetooth is turned off, and I've verified that it's on the same network as the printer, but I cannot detect the printer on my iPod either through Apple's AirPrint or through the HP iPhoto App 3.0.  Both just say "No printers found".  This is really frustrating since I bought this with printing from mobile devices in mind.  Any advice?
    Thanks for your help,
    Dave

I am glad your first problem is resolved. When it comes to iPod having OS 4.2, the device supports AirPrint which is new from Apple.
For more information on how to use the AirPrint on your iPod refer to below link:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c02623193
If the iPod still does not find the printer, try unchecking the option "Enable Multicast Streams" in the router EWS page and see if it works or not. Contact your router support for more info.

  • Iphone and Ipod problem help me!!

I just bought a iPhone and I want to give my iPod to my boyfriend but I only have one computer there for I only have one way to get to my iTunes,me and my boyfriend have different tastes in music and he doesn't want my music and vise-versa I've tired to change our apple IDs but I cant seem to figure it out :-( Please someone help me I want to try and not go to the apple store
    Thank you!!

The iPhone and the iPod sync characteristics are configured separately.  The iTunes application keeps track by S/N.  Apple ID doesn't matter.  (I currently have two IDs and the only problem is very minor - log out/in to update apps obtained with the "wrong" ID.)

Check and see if you've got too many things running concurrently. Double-click the home key to see your list of most recent programs. Press and hold the icons in the app tray until they jiggle, and then remove the ones you don't need. Even when programs are "closed" they still leave footprints in memory so that if you were to re-access that program, it will open up faster. This should free up some memory.
If you don't have many apps installed and running, then I am not sure what would be causing your problems.

  • Apple ID's Iphone Ipad and Ipod problem with imessage

I just got an Iphone and had to set up gmail to transfer all my contacts accross.  Also set up new Apple ID (now have 2) Anyone who imessages me my messages go to my sons Ipad and daughters Ipod.  Any help please

You have to use a different Apple ID to create a new iCloud account (each ID can only be used with a single account).  You don't have to use the ID for anything else though, she can continue to use her current ID for other services such as iTunes, iMessage, FaceTime, etc.
The only limitation is that each device can only create three iCloud accounts.

  • Problems with itunes 8 and ipod shuffle gen 2.

Problems with itunes 8 and ipod shuffle gen 2.
I recently upgraded from itunes 7 to itunes 8 on my windows XP PC. That's when i had issues syncing my 2nd gen shuffle.
When i try to drag songs directly on it, itunes says i can't
I made a playlist and use auto fill. But when I remove it from the dock, it's either not updated, or the new songs are at the bottom of the playlist when they are supposed to be up higher. I end up having to hit auto fill twice to make it sync correctly.
    Computer Specs
    Windows XP SP3
384MB of Ram (works really good)
    USB 1.1 connection
Pentium 4 clocked at 1.285 GHZ
    IPOD Shuffle Specs
    2nd Generation
    1GB (964MB)
    Version 1.0.4
unchecked options: open itunes when ipod is attached, Sync only checked songs, convert higher bit rate songs to 128kbps AAC, Enable sound check, Limit MAX volume, enable disk use
All those are NOT checked. Sometimes i enable disk use for seeing the IPOD_Control folder, but either way it still messes up.
    Itunes Specs:
    Version 8.1.1.10

This is a well-known issue. Apple changed the internal file names used with iTunes 8, which makes the ordering on 2nd generation Shuffles behave differently. There is no good workaround, apart from moving the files with a hand-crafted AppleScript program.
Apple has been silent on the issue, so nobody knows if we'll ever have a fix for it or not.

  • Xbox and Ipod Touch Problem

Hey, I have and Ipod Touch and an Xbox 360 and want to connect my Touch to the Xbox to play music while playing a game, but my Xbox doesn't pickup the Touch. But my Touch charges, anyone know why or know a link to a similar problem that can help me in anyways?
By the way, my old Ipod worked when I did this, just not the Touch, and also Touch is 1st Gen.

    Anyone know how to fix?

  • How do I fix my ipod classic that says very low batter after I have charged it and the problem persists?

I have an Ipod video 30g that says Please wait very low battery. I charged it for about a day and the problem persists. I've tried using some solutions on the internet and none of them worked including: holding the menu and select, holding select and play to put it in disk mode with no avail. Is there anyone who can help me!!!

  • Internet problems on my macbook pro and ipod touch with camera.

    Hi,
For the last week or so I have been experiencing internet problems with my macbook and iPod touch with camera. I'll be online and clicking different news articles and suddenly the address bar will start to open a link but will not complete it. So what I do is go up to the signal bar and click turn off airport then turn it back on and that will temporarily solve the problem. Same solution on my iPod, I turn off the wifi and turn it back on. It is very frustrating for both devices. I will include as much info as possible. I have a NetGear RangeMax wireless router model WPN824v3. I was wondering if changing the wireless settings on that would solve my problem. I have the channel on 9. Mode on b and g. Security option on WPA-PSK [TKIP] with password. I would be happy for any help with this issue. Also I hope I'm following correct posting protocol. I haven't been on this forum in a while.

    Sig,
Thanks for the advice. I finally tried a solution after doing nothing. LoL. What I did do was change the channel the router was on from 9 to 7. I think I've done something like this in the past when I had slow internet and that worked out well too. I thought that would help and so far so good. Not an interruption so far but we shall see. To the guy or girl who expressed that they had the same problem as me I would try changing the channel of your router like I did. I will monitor the situation and see if it totally solved my problem or not and keep this thread updated. Thanks people

  • ITunes 7.1 and iPod dock problems

Apparently there are cases of iTunes 7.1 doing some widespread and different things, not all entirely related. In many cases the problems can be fixed if you disconnect your iPod dock, if you have one. I had my Shuffle dock (and iPod) plugged in and iTunes just wouldn't start. I was working wirelessly tonight and just thought I would try again and it opened really fast. Then I found several threads here about this sort of thing. So if you are having problems with this upgrade as I have try unplugging your iPod first then launch iTunes.

You have to restore back (or uninstall/resinstall) to a prior version of iTunes. 7.0.2 works fine.

  • IPod Shuffle 2nd gen and Mac problem/troubleshooting guide

Ok, warning this is going to be a little long...
The problem: Brand spanking new out of the box ipod shuffle 2nd gen won't play songs after ipod assistant setup. Flashing green/orange lights. Also will not update or restore (greyed out). Shows up as formatted for Windows. Software and Serial show up as "n/a".
    System specs: Powerbook G4 17inch 1ghz, 1gb RAM, 10.4.9 running iTunes 7.1.1
Attempted solutions that have NOT worked:
    1) mac retail store visit to genius bar. it restored on mactel machine. worked and played songs. unfortunately resyncing to my library caused ipod to return to problems above immediately.
    2) another mac retail store visit to genius bar, this time with laptop to show them the problem. they told me it was my machine not the shuffle. i explained i am a mac sys admin and that is ridiculous...my machine though a few years old is completely up to date. we then deleted all receipts out of the Library dealing with iTunes and reinstalled iTunes via software update. same problem immediately after the setup assistant. no software version and no choice to update or restore ipod. downloaded the ipod reset utility for mac for 2nd gen shuffle and error message shows "the selected ipod is not supported by this utility". also shuffle icon shows up as generic white ipod. mac genius stumped so they swap out my brand new shuffle for another brand new shuffle.
    3) 2nd shuffle in a week and same problems occur. will not update in iTunes. will not restore in iTunes. will not restore in ipod reset utility. icon shows generic white ipod. i can copy music to it but it will not play, lights flash green and orange.
    4) tried to use disk utility to reformat. erase using MS-DOS, but it says FAT16 instead of FAT32. same problems as above.
*weird that I can't reformat to FAT32 when selecting the MS-DOS format. I only see FAT16 as a choice. Disk utility should do FAT32 but I can't seem to get it to work on shuffle and i don't have a spare hard drive to test it on. Anyone have any experience reformatting ipods via Disk Utility to windows format? Please share...
At this point I have access to a mactel book and will attempt to fix it on the newer machine. I will be very upset if it works because there is nothing saying that you need new hardware to use the new shuffle. i also get the usb 1.1 error message but again there is nothing saying you need usb 2.0 for shuffle use.
if anyone has tried anything different with good results please respond! from my experience this seems to be an issue specifically between older mac ppc machines and the new windows drivers installed on the shuffle. i use windows drives all the time with my mac and there are no problems. however a brand new ipod shuffle 2nd gen out of the box does not seem to like my older machine...even after two reinstalls of itunes! even the reset utility is not working as described....
any help with this is much appreciated!!!
    Powerbook G4, 1ghz, 1gb RAM, usb 1.1, 17inch Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Ok here it is, my final post on thoughts on this issue...
Unfortunately, my guess was correct, there does seem to be a hardware issue related to iTunes 7.1.1 and whether it is on a mactel machine or an older ppc machine.
I can confirm this because the ipod settings screen on my older PPC powerbook is TOTALLY different than the screen I saw on the newer mactel macbooks, even though the software version says its EXACTLY THE SAME! (iTunes 7.1.1)
On a mactel macbook, I see the ipod shuffle settings such as "Autofill" etc with the correct icon and software version and serial number.
On my PPC powerbook, I see a generic white ipod icon (even though the finder shows the correct icon of my 2nd gen shuffle) and the settings tab for the ipod is completely different....the update and restore continued to be grayed out, there is no software version or serial number available as well. This is probably why I am not able to register my ipod shuffle from my machine.
I did not erase and resync the ipod shuffle to my PPC machine to see if that would allow it to continue working. So far so good. After unmounting, it still plays songs. However, I checked the "manage songs manually" option and added just one more song to the shuffle. I tried to then play that song but it would not play even though it was copied onto the shuffle...I could play it from the ipod via iTunes but not when I was just listening to the shuffle. I confirmed this with the application "PodWorks", the song I copied from my library does NOT show up in the list of songs on my ipod shuffle...however it DOES show up and play in iTunes.
So I feel pretty stuck right now...
I can have a working ipod shuffle but NOT from my ipod library. It seems I can only listen to songs off my friends newer machines because for whatever reason, the ipod shuffle DOES NOT WORK with a PPC Powerbook 17inch, 1ghz, 1gb RAM, 10.4.9 running the current latest version of iTunes 7.1.1.
***** to be me. Anyone else come to same conclusion?
If this is real then other users with older macs should not waste their money on the 2nd generation ipod shuffle. Please respond if you have any suggestions or thoughts on this matter.
    Mac OS X (10.4.9)

  • Syncing and Charging Problem with 1st gen iPod nano

I purchased a 1st generation iPod nano via eBay about 3 months ago and have developed an interesting syncing and charging problem.  When I plug the nano to my iMac, frequently neither the computer nor iTunes will recognize it.  I have done "the five R's" with occasional success.  I've tried jiggling the cable in the computer port and sometimes it works in getting iTunes to recognize the nano, sometimes it doesn't.  Even when I am able to get iTunes to recognize the nano, I have frequently found that the nano hasn't charged up at all.  In fact, a couple of times I found it almost totally drained of power after having been connected to my computer.  Yes, I have the most recent version of iTunes installed on my iMac and my iMac, by the way, is relatively new - having been purchased in May of this year.  What is interesting is that I've taken my nano to work and it has absolutely no problem charging up on my Dell (yuk!).  For the record, I do not have iTunes installed on my work computer and I am not allowed to add any apps to my work computer without the consent of my supervisor.  The chances of getting iTunes installed on my Dell at work are pretty much nil.  Any suggestions on how I can fix the problem?

I bought a new USB dock connector and hoped, with fingers and toes crossed, that something positive would happen.  Sure enough, I was able to sync and recharge my old iPod nano.  I guess the original USB dock cable is on its last legs.  Not totally broken, but no longer reliable.  I consider my problem solved!    My thanks to everyone who took the time to read and try to solve my iPod problem.  I greatly appreciate it!

  • IPod not syncing, very strange and different problem compared to others

I have an 80 GB iPod Classic, when i plug it in to sync with my computer. The computer makes the noise showing that the computer recognizes a USB port being used, however iTunes immediately freezes up while the iPod sits in limbo on its screen saying Connected while showing the Sync sign. While the iTunes is frozen, nothing happens and it does not change until I unplug the iPod. It doesn't matter how long I leave it for. When i unplug the iPod the device menu finally shows in iTunes however it doesn't do any good because the iPod is no longer plugged in. Instead it shows the DEVICE menu in the background with an error message saying either "The iPod "Customer's iPod" cannot be found. The required file cannot be found" or that with a (-53) error message at the end. I have tried many different things including system restore and still does not work. I have tried different ports, different cords. I really don't know what I can do from this point. I have installed and uninstalled iTunes 8.1.

Use the SHIFT-Launch iTunes method to get iTunes waiting for a library. Stick the iPod in disk mode and connect to the computer. Browse *My Computer* and right-click on the drive for the iPod, click Properties, then click Tools. Under Error-checking, click *Check Now*. Under Check disk options, select *Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors* (Optional - takes ages but a good idea if you've reason to suspect physical damage). Click Start. Mac users should run *Disk Utility / Repair Disk* for the equivalent process. This should find and correct any errors in the logical & physical structures of your iPod's hard drive which may be causing the problem. When the process is complete disconnect the iPod and then reset it (hold Menu+Select ). Cancel the waiting iTunes dialog and then try to connect in the normal way.
If that still doesn't work you could try Erase your iPod - The Super Fix for most iPod Problems. Basically a low level format of the iPod’s hard drive to get around whatever problems are stopping iTunes from working with it.
Have you tried connecting the iPod to another computer to see if the issues is focused on the iPod or iTunes?
