7.4.1 fails "No Address for NTP server"

Did all the upgrades to Airport utility and firmware but couldn't get the AEBS to recognise a valid IP address even though it has leased one. In addition, I looked at the logs and saw the error message 'No Address for NTP server'. The issue was solved by reverting, but 7.4.1 has made my AEBS inoperable.

Thanks for your replies, much appreciated.

64.142.85.71 has an existing public DNS translation, so you'll be adding DNS CNAME (alias) records for the each of the additional hosts into your public DNS at WorldNIC DNS servers.
Your local host either isn't running DNS, or it's running local DNS.  If it's running local DNS, then hopefully it's not running with the same domain name as your public DNS services; that you have an external DNS zone and an internal DNS zone, with an external DNS domain and an internal domain name.  If you are running DNS locally and are using the same domain name for internal and external DNS servers, then you'll also need to add the translation for the new web sites into your local DNS server configuration.
Once the translation is added, add - as John Lockwood indicates - Sites into your web server.
The numbers of folders can vary.  Different sites may or may not be in the same folder, depending on what you're doing. Multiple ttraditional static HTML web sites are probably stored in separate folders.  A single site with several names can be in the same folder.  A web content management system (CMS) can be stored in one folder.
If you have a firewall here (and you should), then you may need some additional steps.  Particularly if you're running NAT, and don't already have rules and port-forwarding enabled on the server.  Given it appears you're using mail with this server, there are likely some rules in place, though you'll need to confirm that port 80 TCP and possibly port 443 TCP are (also) being forwarded for your web services.
Here is a write-up on adding what Apple calls Sites and what Apache calls virtual hosts.

  • "Local" failover for NTP Server on Solaris 10

I have four Solaris 10 Servers, all syncing their time from an external NTP server ntp.example.com.
Is it possible to configure one of the four servers as a local "pseudo" Failover NTP, i.e. acting as a client to ntp.example.com, as long as it is available, and acting as a NTP server to the remaining three servers in case ntp.example.com is not available, so that at least the four local servers remain synced among themselves?

Shouldn't be any problem. For one thing you can always specify multiple servers in the /etc/inet/ntp.conf file and use one of them as 'prefer', i.e.:
    server ntp.example.com prefer
    server local.mydomain.com
Then again, perhaps it would just be easier if one of your servers syncs against 'ntp.example.com' and the rest of your servers always synchronizes against that one server?

  • Finding the IP address for email server

Thanks, where would I find that in the management console? Tha name? It is housed on a domain controller. So would the name be the name of the DC?

I am attempting to configure some printers to scan to email. It is asking for the mail server IP address. We have a "webmail" (mail.businesname.com) address that users can check email from when away from their work pc or phone. The Exchange management console is on a domain controller, which is on a seperate network (different state). The ip for the DC which it is housed is something like 192.168.4.xx and our network is 192.168.2.xx.
I wouldn't use the IP address for the DC where the Exchange console is housed would I? I also pinged the mail.businessname.com and got an ip address but am not sure about which is the mail server address and/or how to find it?

  • License Server: IP Address for Virtual Server

    Hi everyone,
Our license server is installed at 192.168.1.5 : 30000.  Our internal network is able to access the server.  Some SAP Business One client are located remotely so they must connect to server through VPN in which the VPN service provided us 10.8.17.5 as server address.  If I want to run the SAP B1 from remote, it is asking me the license server selection.  I entered 192.168.1.5 - connection with license server failed.  I also tried the 10.8.17.5, same thing, the error message is - connection with license server failed.  What could be a possible work around for us in the remote site to be able to access the SAP B1 and pass through the License Server Selection window?

  • Change capitalization of e-mail address for ATTYahoo server

I have a very annoying and odd problem with our DSL host rejecting our e-mail. Our host, ATT PacBell uses Yahoo to provide their services. They recently required that we register all the e-mail addresses that we are using to send over their servers. However, we are having ongoing issues with our e-mails not being sent out because the server rejects them.
After many attempts at fixing this with our ISP, we think the problem is that somehow the server is seeing our e-mail addresses with our names capitalized: [email protected] The error message that comes up in Mail shows our address that has been rejected with capitalization. The issue is that Yahoo does not like capitol letters in their e-mail addresses according to the techs.
Now, in our e-mail preferences and in our Address Book, our e-mail addresses are all lower case letters: [email protected] I'm unable to locate anyplace that I can change the entry to lower case. I can't even ever remember using uppercase letters in my e-mail addresses.
    Any ideas?

    Hi, Marcus.
First, I have a hard time believing that Yahoo "does not like capitol letters in their e-mail addresses." I am not saying that you are mistaken and I believe that someone told you that, but upper or lower case letters are interchangeable in the world of Internet messaging. So, I think it is a different problem.
But, is there a way that you can get around the problem? I mean, from your home over your ATT PacBell DSL connection, can't you use your school's email server? (You used XXX.edu as an example, so I am assuming ...)
For example, I have a DSL connection with Verizon. I can send things through their email gateway, but I must authenticate with my Verizon account and password. But, I can also list the mail exchanger for avolio.com as my SMTP server (authenticating with my avolio.com credentials), and likewise for gmail.com.
Can you just send through your university's email gateway and avoid PacBell's silliness?

  • Router Source address for ACS Server

Does anyone know how to configure a router(MSFC in this case so the same ip address is sent to the ACS server for authenticating. The source address may not always be the same depending on the path taken, If the source address isnt an ip address configured for one of my devices the acs server rejects the attempt and the router defaults to local login. I tried settigng a loopback address and always telnetiing to the loopback address however the source address from the MSFC is not the loopback I have 38 vlans, snd i suppose i could configure thoe ip addresses under a device, however if iI add a vlan then I must remember to add that vlan to ACS. Im sure there is a simpler way to address this, I just cant seem to find the configs needed on the MSFC to make it work.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Sounds like you need:
    ip tacacs source-interface interface-name
    (or ip radius source-interface interface-name)
It's recommended to use a loopback interface, so this would give you (assuming loopback0):
    ip tacacs source-interface loopback0
HTH - plz rate if it does

I have tried substituting the IP address for the server. I
have also tried specifying with and without the port number (8000

  • Which Cisco router for NTP service

    Hello,
I'm looking for deploying NTP service for multi-customer (in Datacenter).
So, I take a look at Cisco routers list and I saw that some router doesn't have hardware-clock / internal-clock ; for example 2600 series.
I'm looking for a "cheap" but good solution to provide NTP :
    - "Cheap" : that's why I take a look at routers, and not directly NTP appliance.
    - "Good" : something that can provide time to 300+ end-devices.
Cisco 800 series got hardware-clock, if I read good. But this is the cheapest router, so I don't feel confident.
    > What's the "best" router for NTP server ?
    > Please, could you share your experiences, opinions ?
    Thanks,
    Have a nice day.

Cisco 800 series apparently got internal clock, could it do the job correctly?
Rick and I have answered this question already.
Depends on the router, you can instruct the router to regularly update the hardware clock using the command "ntp update-calendar".
If you really insist on a router, an 800 router, then you can get all your device to sync to your router and your router gets sync somewhere in the internet.
Make sure you have the following commands:
    ntp server <NTP server>
    ntp update-calendar
Note:  You can have multiple NTP server IP addresses.  And the command above are hyperlinks.
Warning:  DO NOT be tempted to use the command "ntp master".

  • How do I open ports on my airport extreme and assign a fixed IP Address for a device connected to my network?

I recently had a security system installed in my house.  One of the features is an EPAD which enables me to have a virtual keypad on my iphone, and computer to operate the alarm system.  The technician was not familiar with Mac's and Airports.  How do I open port 80 to 80 in my airport and assign a fixed IP address for the EPAD?  Apparently this is what is needed to make this work.

There are three ranges of "strictly local" IP addresses reserved for local Network use:
    192.168.xxx.yyy
    172.16.xxx.yyy
    10.xxx.yyy.zzz
What your Router does for you is to act as your agent on the Internet.Your requests are packaged up and forwarded on your behalf, and only when a response is expected is the response returned to your local IP address.
Directing Network Traffic to a Specific Computer on Your
    Network (Port Mapping)
AirPort Extreme uses Network Address Translation (NAT) to share a single IP address with the computers that join the AirPort Extreme network. To provide Internet access to several computers with one IP address, NAT assigns private IP addresses to each computer on the AirPort Extreme network, and then matches these addresses with port numbers. The wireless device creates a port-to-private IP address table entry when a computer on your AirPort (private) network sends a request for information to the Internet.
If you’re using a web, AppleShare, or FTP server on your AirPort Extreme network, other computers initiate communication with your server. Because the Apple wireless device has no table entries for these requests, it has no way of directing the information to the appropriate computer on your AirPort network.
To ensure that requests are properly routed to your web, AppleShare, or FTP server, you need to establish a permanent IP address for your server and provide inbound port mapping information to your Apple wireless device.
To set up inbound port mapping:
    1) Open AirPort Utility, select your wireless device, and then choose Base Station > Manual Setup, or double-click the device icon to open its configuration in a separate window. Enter the password if necessary.
    2) Click the Advanced button, and then click Port Mapping.
    3) Click the Add button and choose a service, such as Personal File Sharing, from the Service pop-up menu.

  • E-mail address for server

After trusting the promise of Apple that installing and running a Mavericks Server is easy as pie, I bought and installed the server, i.e. just managed to install a folder named "Locker" in adherence to the instructions. Everything else seems "foolproof" - meaning that only fools should believe such promises.
My next step planned is to install the calendar service because currently it makes me mad to run calenders on each computer in my network. Trying so, I manage to perform only a single step: The software requires a mail address for the server, recommends this : com.apple.calendarserver@mactheknife as the address and rejects it immediately. Stop! (Note: I have installed and run Mac networks since the days of Appletalk in 1987.)
I appreciate the great help by the server. But I need to know what I need to do. As easy as pie - may be, but no idea why I should do what. Plase help …

Your question is probably better off in the OS X Server section. And I don't know much about this, but shouldn't that address look like something as [email protected]?

  • How to setup IP address for DC&ADC

    Hello ,
I have DC server and ADC server I need to configure IP address for both server
correctly ,kindly tell me  how do that.
because I have problem : on DC server computer container is empty all computer in my network
appear in ADC however if you search for any computer in DC I can find it
Note: If you have created any user in the server immediately user appear on the other server
    thanks

I see, you are worried about what would happen with your Exchange server if one of your DCs go down.
That's not an easy question to answer. It's a very complex question because there are multiple components at play.
First, let's discuss the client side resolver. Each operating system has one no matter if it's a DC, server, workstation, Apple, Unix, Linux, Android, etc. The way they work is based on the industry standard RFCs that explain how they work.
The client side resolver will only look at the second DNS entry if the first entry returns a NULL response (no response) after a time out period. However, if the client side resolver already has the record cached (you can see the cache by running ipconfig
/displaydns) for the TTL of the record, and the DC goes down, well the client side resolver will not query again because it sees it already has it in cache.
Exchange will automatically look for another LDAP, Config and GC if the one it's using goes down. However, Outlook isn't so forgiving. It locks on to a GC and a DSProxy for the Exchange server. If the GC goes down, you have to restart Outlook. That's going
to be difficult if you have lots of users.
And if Exchange is on a DC, that doesn't work that way because it *locks* on to the DC/GC it's installed on. I hope your Exchange server is not on a DC.
Here's more specifics on how the whole process works - and note that this applies to all operating systems, Windows, Linux, Unix, BEOS..... because they all follow the RFCs defining how client side resolvers work.

  • NTP Server IP Address ?

    Hi,
I have configured a Cisco 6509 core switch as a NTP master and allowed all my access switches to get their time synchronised with the core switch. Now, I want to configure the core switch to get itself synchronised with other public NTP server which would be reliable and genuine as our organisation is serving for healthcare. One of my friend has told me to use these IPs 128.249.1.1 or 128.2.136.71 as a NTP Server in the core switch. Should I use them?
Is Cisco recommends any Public IP for  NTP Server synchronisation? Please suggest.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Anil K.

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with Cisco in any way except where I work, we use some Cisco products (sw/hw). So take it however you will.
Personally, I would rather adopt the following approach suggested at http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/use.html, than hardcoding a couple of public NTP servers in a remote region:
"As pool.ntp.org will assign you timeservers from all over the world, time quality will not be ideal. You get a bit better result if you use the continental zones (For example europe, north-america, oceania or asia.pool.ntp.org), and even better time if you use the country zone (like ch.pool.ntp.org in Switzerland) - for all these zones, you can again use the 0, 1 or 2 prefixes, like 0.ch.pool.ntp.org. Note, however, that the country zone might not exist for your country, or might contain only one or two timeservers. If you know timeservers that are really close to you (measured by network distance, with traceroute or ping), time probably will be even better. "
Of course, if time sync is REALLY that important, one might consider buying/installing commercial GPS-based NTP appliances. That's not what you're looking for, obviously.

  • NTP server unreachable through ASA firewall

    Hi all,
I've configured a DMZ switch to point to an NTP server on on the Inside, but I get a debug message on the switch that says:
NTP: <NTP server IP address> unreachable
I'm confident that the NTP server is configured properly, as there are more than a dozen other hosts using it, successfully. The difficulty here is that the NTP packets are having to flow from the DMZ to the Inside. I have a rule set on the firewall that permits the IP address of the switch to connect to the IP address of the NTP server as follows:
access-list intdmz1_acl extended permit udp host <IP address of switch> host <IP address of NTP server> eq ntp
I can see the hit counter on this rule incrementing.
The firewall can ping the NTP server, and the NTP server can ping the switch, so I think routing is OK.
    Output from the DMZ switch:

I'm guessing we should see some packets in the second capture, but we're not...
    Does this help?
    Thanks!

  • Remote Server Admin not working from outside of network for 1 server

Our company recently changed ISPs and I had to change our two 10.4 server's IP addresses. We have a mail server (intel xserve) and a file/web server (quicksilver g4). Both servers have two network cards in them. The problem is two-fold:
1- I can successfully manage the Xserve machine locally on our network and from my home. However, I can only manage the Quicksilver g4 server locally. Any kind of external access is not even acknowledged.
2- I'm not sure if I missed any steps when changing IP addresses for these server-based computers. Also, I'm not sure if I correctly set our dns names to the correct IP address.
For some background, this is the exact IP update process I used for each server:
Quicksilver G4 (file/web server) - Installed network card #2 and configured it with the new Public IP in the "System Preferences/Network" panel. In Server Admin I set our website to use the new public IP address. (network card #2 has no firewall device in between it and the internet.)
Then, I configured the default network card #1 to a static, yet private IP address that's behind our DLink firewall device with the rest of our network.
Intel Xserve (e-mail server) - Network card #1 was the only one setup before our network change. It had a static, public IP address. When we changed ISPs, I configured network card #2 to the new static, public IP address supplied to us by the new ISP in the "System Preferences/Network" panel. This new IP address is where all email traffic currently gets pointed to. (All mail is successfully sent and delivered.) Until our former ISP gets shutdown, I still have network card #1 configured to the older static public IP address. After the old ISP is shut off, I plan on changing network card #1 to a static, private address.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

What should I check in AD?  I am by no means an expert with AD.
Yes, I am using the same client OS.
I am talking about RDP over the internet, like from home to the office.  We have a static IP assigned to the router from ISP.  A static internal IP assigned to the server on the LAN.  And the router port forwards 3389 to the assigned IP.
It was working fine before we reinstalled Server 2012.  These are the steps I took when reinstalling:
    1. format drive and install OS
    2. rename the server
    3. install SQL server
    4. Install TFS and SharePoint
    5. Add Active Directory role and promote to Domain Controller
    6. Add domain users
    7. Enable remote access on the server and add users to remote access list
