7.5 itunes upgrade question

Ok so I open up itunes to find that my music and video has been deleted because the file has become 'damaged'. I used my backup files to restore my music and then upgraded to 7.5 in hopes of solving this problem. Well now each time i open itunes it has windows configure it like it is installing and quicktime no longer works claiming error 46. The itunes store works and i am able to download music but I can't figure out why it must configure each time and why quicktime no longer works. Is anyone else having this problem? Thanks

Thank you for your response. I tried running 3rd Party Tools on a machine that already had it installed to see what would happen and it just skips the components because it sees them as already installed. I did find an article (FN-62497) which discussed uninstalling 3rd Party Tools using a vbs script that was created specifically for removing the tools. The only problem is the article specifically says not to use that tool without TACs involvement. The only thing I see in Add/Remove programs that resembles the applications you referenced is ServletExec 5.0 ISAPI. Should I uninstall that? Are there other components that need to be removed? Like so many others i too am having problems with the latest update of iTunes. I installed it - no problems. BUT when i went to run it, it wouldn't open. I read in some other threads that i should try and turn off my firewall protection (norton) which i did. When the firewall is off iTunes opens. However when i go to turn the firewall back on - iTunes doesn't open again. And when i try to 'configure' the firewall it freezes.
I'm getting increasingly frustrated and would really appreciate some help.
I use Windows XP and Norton anti-virus, internet security and firewall.
Any help at all would be great. Thanks

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I had the exact problem. My iTune had been working perfectly until I upgraded to 6.0. Now my iTune won't open and every time I try to open up my Norton Internet Security, my computer freezes. Also, whenever I try to shut down my computer, it also freezes. I was up all night trying to fix the problem and it drove me nuts!! Finally, I thought maybe my computer was infected with virus, so my friend, who is a computer technician, took it and he is cleaning it up. After reading the posted messages, I'm so glad that I'm not the only person with this problem. I think Apple needs to come up with a solution quick, otherwise, there are going to be a lot of angry people out there. When I get my computer back, I may try to get McAfee instead of Norton. Have you read the other postings and try some of their suggestions, ie msconfig?

iPhoto needs to be upgraded in order to work with Mavericks. You can do that via Software Update or the App Store.
The iWork apps are free with a new iOS device since 1 SEP 2013. They are free with a new Mac since 1 OCT 2013. They are also free with the upgrade to OS X Mavericks 10.9 if you had the previous version installed when you upgraded.
Upgrading iPhoto does not involve your iPhoto Library. Your photos will still be there. But it never hurts to make a backup first.

Recent iTunes upgrade.

Recently the iTunes upgraded itself, which took away one feature I liked, but that's another rant. The question I have here is when you download podcasts you can add them to your playlists, however over time when you download new podcasts it doesn't automatically add to those playlists. Is there a way to do that?
In the playlist I can sort it alphabetically, but I can't
sort it by release date if I want unless I delete the playlist and re-add. Is there an easier way?

You can make a smart playlist, that will update
itself.

You can sort an existing playlist by clicking on the
column heading. For example clicking on the words
"Release Date". Click on "Name" changes the sort to
name. Some columns when you click on them will sort
in different ways. For example Album, when clicked
on can become "Album by Artist".
Right, the playlists can be sorted by the following:

Artist
You then right-click and bring up the following:

However it doesn't have a column for "Release Date", which tends to allow it to sort by the original order it was downloaded. That's what I'm hoping for, otherwise I have to delete the Playlist name and re-add it.

ITunes upgrade works for a little while...then kaput!

I see a lot of variations of problems people are having with the iTunes upgrade, but I haven't exactly seen what's been happening to my computer.
The upgrade installs fine (both iTunes & Quicktime), and I can open it, use it, even access the music store for a short while. Then suddenly the music store won't access. It doesn't give me an error report, it just infinitely keeps trying to access to no avail. Then if I close out of iTunes after that, I'm never able to reopen it again! I'll double-click the icon, the hourglass appears for a few seconds, and then nothing comes on my screen!
I've removed and reinstalled the program half a dozen times and always the same thing. I've deleted my spyware software and disabled firewalls. I've read through tips on this bulletin board and deleted that hidden file in my c:/documents and setting/application data/all users/apple computer/itunes. Still, nothing.
I'm running out of options! Please, if someone can help me, you'll be my music savior!

try this, it worked for me:
1) first of all, uninstall QuickTime and older versions of iTunes from your PC, using the "remove" button in the "install applications" tool that you find in the windows control panel.
2) reboot the system
3) turn off the windows firewall application; go into the windows control panel, double click on windows firewall and disable the firewall option
4) if you have one, disable your Anti-Virus application; i mean its real-time protection.
5) probably it's not necessary, but for being sure... download and launch the standalone installer of QuickTime (latest version)
6) download and launch the iTunes + QuickTime installer from this web address
7) as an option, i suggest you to download and install also iTunes Art Importer. It's a nice application, that allows you to import from the internet directly into iTunes the album ArtWorks of the selected tracks in iTunes. I installed it, and it works very well with iTunes 6.
8) after all the installations, remember to enable both firewall and anti-virus previously disabled!
as i said, probably the 5th passage is not necessary, but i did it and it worked!

I have the same problem. It was working fine up until the last update for iTunes 11.0.2
Here's the details:
I have an Apple TV - first Gen and up until a couple of weeks ago, was regularly playing sync'd iTunes music and videos through it on a daily basis.
I see other devicess showing up in the "Devices" list in the left panel of iTunes (such as iPad, iPhone, etc.)
AppleTV used to be there consistently, then disappeared upon update to 11.0.2
Apple TV also does not show up in the devices tab under the Preferences window.
I have tried multiple suggestions on the support forum but none have worked.
Apple TV is able to access the network, is on the same network as the iMac with iTunes library connected. Both are connected to network via ethernet cable (not wifi). Both are able to access the internet (apple tv plays movie prieviews and gets updates). Using the Terminal app, I am able to ping the apple TV's IP number from the iMac and get a successful return.
Both have latest software downloads.
I have tried cold-booting the apple TV, resetting the router, and verified in the router device list that both imac and appleTV are listed as active, un-blocked connections.
I don't intend to buy an Apple TV 2nd gen or later (since I bought this one and it's not working now due to software update, what guarantee that a later model won't generate the same problem later.
One last wrinkle, I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old who are jonesing hard for their "dance party" fix.
Have you ever wronged a two year old?

After iTunes upgrade, calendar and bookmarks no longer update during sync

After completing the most recent iTunes upgrade, my phone will complete a backup and seems to go through the sync process. However, the calendar items and bookmarks will not update with any changes that were applied in Outlook or Internet Explorer. Also, previously, I would receive a "syncing calendar" message (or something similar) during the process, and that no longer occurs.

They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

Unable to Turn on Home Sharing after iTunes upgrade

After the latest iTunes upgrade onYosemite, I get an 'Unable to Turn on Home Sharing' error on my 2 Apple TVs plus iPhone and iPad. Previously, I had no problem. I have restarted and reset my iTune on my MacBook plus all the devices now receiving an error message and the inability to utilize Home Sharing.
I can send videos to my Apple TVs from my MacBook through AirPlay, so this is not a network error.

IWeb not opening after iTunes Upgrade

This evening I downloaded the update for iTunes, now 8.2.1 (6), and since then I have been unable to open iWeb using either the application shortcut in the Dock or via Finder. The iWeb toolbar appears but attempting to click on any of the menu items simply produces the multi-coloured wheel.
Before the iTunes upgrade was installed I had never had a problem with iWeb or any of the other applications.

iTunes is the biggest pain on a Mac and I have it set not to open! I haven't updated for so long that I can't remember if a restart is required.

I always restart after updating any Apple software and do it at least a couple of times a week and then run Disk Utility to repair permissions.
Macs are fairly bomb proof but they do need routine maintenance. I run an weekly incremental backup to a bootable external firewire hard drive every week using Super Duper. This application automatically repairs permissions and then I do a restart.
Time machine makes us lazy in this respect!

Phone frozen after itunes upgrade

Ran the itunes upgrade today. My phone was connected to the computer at the time. Got a text message during the intall and called a friend. Phone has been frozen ever since. Tried to do a restore but cannot. Get an error saying the phone is in "recovery mode". When I run the restore get an "unknown error" message. The only thing that is visible on my screen is the itune logo and the usb cable, suggesting I should connect the phone to itunes. Followed all the suggestion to restore on two computers and no dice! What up Apple?!

if you have taken back up of the iphone before you attempted software update, then yuor photoes are already in itunes as back up. After getting it jailbroken, i synced my phone with itunes and got all the data, including games, data, emails and everything from itunes.
So iOS 6 has issues with software, rather i feel apple has done it with an intention so that people can replace the same handset for USD 200.

Problems after itunes upgrade.

I recently upgraded itunes to the current version on two of my windows/xp pc's.
On the first one I didn't have any problems.
On the second one, after the pc rebooted, all of the personal settings for the administrator account that was used to do the upgrade were gone, and the itunes library for the account was gone.
After some looking around on the pc, I found that the path for My Documents for the account had been changed from C:\Documents and Settings\account_name\My Documents to C:\Document and Settings\TEST\My Documents.
Everything under the original path for the account is still there, so all I need to do is get the My Documents path pointed back to where it originally was, but when I try to do this, I get a message saying that the path I am trying to point to is not authorized.
Does anyone know why the itunes upgrade would have changed the My Documents path? And does anyone know how I can change it back to where it should be pointing to?

I had no problems updating my ipod and iphone to iOS4. But all I wanted was the folder option, I knew that my 3G does not support multitasking due to the slower CPU and build in memory.
Here's a little help to decide about your update, in case you haven't see this yet.

Error message after iTunes upgrade

The error message reads:
"The attempt to burn the disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."
What does this mean?

Well, I thought that the iTunes upgrade had something to do with my inability to burn CDs. I can't say for sure that was the case but I do know that what fixed my problem (if you can believe this) was installing the QuickTime update. I'm thinking that the iTunes update corrupted something, but installing the QT update corrected the problem. Now I can burn with no problems whatsoever. You may want to give it a try.

After yesterday installing the latest itunes upgrade 11.1.5.5 my CD drive is no longer recognized. I do not have the file afs.sys on my computer which is supposed to cause the problem. Any ideas?

After doing so my computer no longer recognizes my cd drive Device manager states that windows cannot load the device driver, the device driver may be corrupted or missing. Hi, I've managed to get my CD & ipod working now but it wasn't easy. Maybe this will help you fix it.
This is what I did:
The problem: OS Windows 8.1 - was working ok with itunes (not sure which version). Upgraded to 11.1.5.5 and my old ipod stopped being recognised by itunes. As I had just bought a new ipod touch 5G I didn't pay too much attention however I soon realised that the new ipod wasn't recognised either. I uninstalled iTunes & reinstalled but that didn't fix it. I found a technote (see below) that says how to get get your ipod reconised. That worked but on a a reboot I realised that there was no CD drive appearing in windows.
It now works & this is what I did to fix it:
Went through the apple technotes on CD issues & looked a the Gear website
Looked for afs.sys file but didn't have that
The registry settings for device filters looked the same as the technotes
Device manager for CD said there were problems in the registry
I backed up the itunes folder (I was planning on a clean install & rebuilding itunes from scratch however most people want to keep their data)
I uninstalled itunes but that made no difference
I rolled back to the a system restore point that had been created not long before the upgrade to 11.1.5.5
The CD drive was now OK again
I went into Windows update and ran the updates that were available - one was for intel chipsets
I created a system restore point as a precaution
I found the registry key that is mentioned in the technotes to do with CD problems and device filters and backed it up separately as a precaution
I ran itunes (x64) 11.1.5.5
itunes asked me if I wanted to repair or uninstall - I uninstalled
I rebooted
I ran install for itunes 11.1.5.5
itunes installed ok & the CD was still there
ipods were not recognised
I followed the instructions http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 to update the driver
5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed - For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8
Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver
I now have a CD drive & iTunes recognises my ipod again - phew

I have had similar issues with mine, happens mainly if I transfer songs and then decide to disconnect my iPod to listen to them with my IEMs (I use Interenet Explorer in my case and it is not neccessarely up when this happens, so I seriously doubt it is an issue conencted to the web browser). I have no patience for this so my trick is I try to eject it from iTunes, if that does not work, then I bring Windows explorer up, right mouse click on the iPod mounted drive and select Eject. It gives me the same warning but there is a third button selection called Continue. When I choose that it just disconnets the drive anyway and the iPod is finally disconnected. It seems to work each and every time I do it so this solution is fine for me. Would be intersting to see what the real root cause of this is because I started getting this problem with the newer iTunes 11.
