7.5 - Not updating my iPod
I'm getting no error messages, nothing. But when I connect my iPod to my iMac, iTunes launches, as it should, and my iPod is recognised, but none of my new music is transferred to my iPod.
This is after today's iTunes and Quick Time updates.
Also, for your further amusement, Skype no longer runs since the updates/restart.
Anyone got any ideas?
Edit: further info -
it's an iPod 30GB. I'm on Leopard. And the iPod is not showing up oin my desktop or in finer, which it used to.

Ok - I have now resolved this.
7.5 has a new preference to "Disable automatic syncing for all iPhones and iPods", on the Syncing tab in the preferences (is that a new tab?) and this seems to be checked by default on the upgrade to 7.5
Always pays to explore updates I suppose - I post this for anyone else who is as impatient as me.
(ps. Skype is still m.i.a.)

When my iPod Touch is connected to my Mac, and I select Update to update the software of my iPod Touch, I get a message saying that my iTunes software is current, but it will not update my iPod Touch software. Is there a bug in the iPod program?
If you have the first gen ipod touch as your information shows, then you would have to buy a software update:

I was trying to update my ipod for ios 6. It got downloaded but could not update my ipod. my ipod screen is now showing one message usb -up arrow-itunes, can anyone suggest something please.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. -

It sounds like you may have a 2nd generation iPod Touch. If so, 4.2.1 is the highest iOS. Please note there was never a 2nd Generation 8gB version of the iPod Touch.

i can not update my ipod tuch to new verision
What version do you have? If iTunes is stating that iOS 4.2.1 is up to date, you most likely have a 2nd generation unit. It can not be upgraded beyond iOS 4.2.1.

I can not update my Ipod Error 3194

Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

My itunes will not update my ipod mini-please help me
For the last couple of days, I have been updating my itunes with new music. However, when I connect my ipod to my PC it does not update my ipod mini with the new music. The other night it was connected and said it was charging but didn't update and right now it's plugged in and says nothing, I think the battery died. So I am wondering how in the world do i get my ipod to update. Please someone help me! I've already tried rebooting the computer, what else works?
Sounds like you've got connection problems, Al. Also, the exclamation mark means you need to restore your iPod.
Run the iPod Updater (Start - Programs - iPod) and only connect your mini when it tells you to connect and iPod. This time, however, connect it to one of the ports on the rear of your computer (if you have a desktop).
If it's still not recognized by the updater, reset it: hold down the Menu and Center buttons until you see the Apple logo.
If it's recognized by the updater, choose the Restore option and follow the instructions from there. -

My IPod touch will not update, My IPod touch will not update
I have tried to download the most recent update to my IPod touch, and every time I receive an error message. The update will start to download and then less than halfway through the error message pops up and the download stops. Not having my iPod updated is preventing me from re-downloading songs that did not apparently download the first time. These songs play in my iTunes on my computer, and even though I have synced my iPod a few times, the songs will not transfer.
Maybe if you told us what the error message says, we could help.

So yeah, is there anyway I can just go back to what I had? c:If one of these programs will not kick the iPod out of recovery mode:
For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
or

If necessary:
Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
and
RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
For MAC or PC
The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
Installs blootware on PC too
You will have to restore and thus erase the iPod

Play Count and Last Played not updating from iPod in iTunes
I've had this problem with 2 of my iPods over 2 different computers, and I have no idea what is causing it.
For some reason, sometimes when I have finished listening to my iPod for the day and then go in to plug it and sync it with iTunes, none of the Play Count or Last Played updates from the iPod. But sometimes it DOES update, which is what frustrates me, as I cannot seem to pinpoint the problem.
These are my specs at the moment:
iPod: Fifth-gen 30GB video
iTunes: 7.0 (also had this issue with 6.x and 4.x before this)
Computer: P4 3.0GHz dual-core, 1GB RAM, WinXP Pro, USB 2.0 ports (also experienced this exact problem with Firewire ports).
I always have iTunes set to automatically sync with the iPod. I have also gone through the 5 suggested steps (including restoring the iPod, restarting the computer and trying out other ports) on several occasions already.
I also had this exact same problem with my old computer and old iPod, the specs which were as follows:
iPod: Third-gen 20GB
Computer: P3 450MHz, 384MB RAM, WinXP Pro, USB 2.0 and Firewire ports.
Has anyone experienced this particular issue before? If so, is there a solution to this issue? It has been bugging me for a while now, and I don't know what other action to take. Thanks heaps in advance!
P4 dual-core 3.0GHz Windows XP Pro 1GB RAM, iTunes 7, USB2.0hi ozfrog80! sorry, my english is poor...i´ve got a similar problem with a 30gb-video-ipod at mac mini (g5).i just updated itunes 7 at saturday and it ran for 2 days without a problem. okay, some playlists seemed strange, but no problems with the sound (see other topics).
i updated the ipod-software to the latest software-version on saturday too.
while "connection" of ipod/itunes the sync.-symbol never dissappeared. but no new data was transmitted.
yesterday, the ipod froze while running and had to be resetted. result: now the connection to itunes fails because "itunes doesn´t react".
the ipod is "empty" now.
i re-installed both quicktime and itunes (as considered in other topics) but that didn´t solve the problem.
funny: itunes runs without a problem but won´t connect to ipod.
i don´t know what the problem is.....i´m waiting for an update....thanx and good luck from mainz/germany. -
Changing ID3 Tags and not updating in ipod?
copyed some mp3 to the ipod, disconnected,
now tryed to update artist name and album in itunes, connected the ipod again and the old info is staying in the ipod, not the new tags..
tnxIF you wnat o manually sync, there are not other options. Drag teh new songs to the iPod.
If you want to manage what goes onto the iPod, you can autosync only selected playlists instead of putting everything in iTunes onto the iPod.
Create playlist(s) with what you want on the iPod.
Select the iPod.
Uncheck *Manually manage music*.
Click the Music tab.
Tick *Sync Music* and tick *Selected playlists*.
Tick the playlist you want on the iPod.
Add/remove from these playslist to control what goes onto the iPod.

Why is QuickTime export only using 2-4 cores?
