Akeva62, welcome to the forum.
The front cover, just below the red line in the photo, that has the HP logo should slide down.  Once it is down it should reveal the card reader.  I know that is the way my HP Envy Phoenix works.

  • When did imac ship with media card slot?

it's pretty stupid that i just noticed but my imac doesn't have sd card slot. i wouldn't even have noticed but read something today that apple started shipping in september. is this true? recommendations for good quality external reader? i purchased the imac in december of 2009.

The SD readers are built in when the iMacs were updated with 21.5" or 27" displays.
As for a card reader, there pretty simple devices, I bought a cheap USB one off eBay for about £1, it works fine. Quite compact as it's not a box but looks similar to a chunky USB memory stick which you slide your SD card into the end of.

  • Media Card Slot

    HP HDX 18t-1000
I just tried to use my multimedia card slot, with a Memory Stick PRO Duo card. Whoever designed this thing, what were they thinking?
Inable to insert the card far enough for the machine to read it, I had to use a paper clip. To remove it, I needed a pair of tweezers. Pushing on the card did not release it.
What exactly, please, am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

I never received a reply from HP support on this. Disappointed in that regard.
I did some research of my own, however, and it seems the slot isn't made for the pro duo. I went to my local Best Buy and bought a memory stick Duo Adaptor. I've been using it for some time and have had no problems with it.

  • Would this storage card work in the Media Card slot of my W700?

    Hi,
I'm interested in buying this Lexar 133x SDHC Card:
    http://lexarmedia.com/products/lexar-professional-133x-sdhc-card?category=213
Basicallyl, I want to use it as another storage drive (as opposed to putting in my camera or other device).  So after I insert it, I want to be able to format it and use it as another storage area.  Would this card work?
The reason I'm gravitating to that card is that is that I see in the specs that is minimum 20MB/sec read transfer rate and it does not take up one of my USB slots.
However, even if it does work, would I be better off with their Echo ZX plug-and-forget it USB drive when they ship it?:
    http://lexarmedia.com/products/lexar-echo-zx-backup-drive-0?category=90
If both work, which would be faster as a storage drive?
    Thanks.

It is a SDHC card so it should work on the card reader of the W700.

  • Swap PC Card Slot on T61P?

When I ordered my T61p I made the mistake of ordering the wrong option for the PC Card Slot.  I accidentally ordered the Smart Card Slot instead of the Media Card Slot.
    1. Is this swappable by me?
    2. If yes, does anyone know the part # for the Media Card Slot and/or is it multiple parts?
    I got a PCI-e 3G Card and I can't use it until I remedy this.
If a Lenovo Moderator knows the answer or anyone else in this forum I sure would be grateful for the help!
    Cheers,
    JIM

If you go to this Lenovo webpage, download your 14.1" or 15.4" Hardware Maintenance Manual.
In there you should find the proper part number.

  • HT204392 Mistakenly dropped media card into DVD Slot..How do I get it out?

Help, dropped a media card into my DVD slot.  How do I remove it?

ok..I was able to remove the media card by propping up the computer on its side on two 4x4 lumber, then reached
in the slot with a thin feeler guage and pulled it out.  The slot has a flexible boot of sort which inhibits the
    media card from falling out.

  • HP ENVY 700-210xt CTO Desktop PC/windows 8.1: can't display 2nd monitor

    Detail information:
    -  HP ENVY 700-210XT CTO Desctop PC
    -  One VGA port and one DVI-D port (used DVI-D to DVI-D cable to connect to second monitor)
    -  video card is a buildin card on motherboard
    -  Two monitors: AOC 10X16, Acer 12X15 (with both VGA and DVI-D ports)  and both working perfectly if connected to computer thru VGA cable.
    -  When start computer, both monitors showing 'HP' and circle of stars to indicate Window is starting (so I think DVI-D connection and is fine).
    -  Then second (DVI-D) monitor shows no signal and VGA monitor continues and everything is fine.
    -  If I go to Devices/Project/Second screen and choose any of the options: Duplicate/ExtendSecond screen only, nothing shows.  After awhile, system says can't find second monitor.
    Questions:
    1) if it is OK to use two different kinds/sizes of monitors?
    2) what else I can do to make the computer to use the DVI-D monitor?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
If you can't see the basic HP UEFI boot menu information with a DVI connection then you have a hardware issue. It's either your monitors or DVI cable or the DVI port on your PC. It's definitely not a software issue as digital drivers don't get loaded until later in the Windows boot process.
Test the monitors and the DVI cable on another PC to ensure that they work correctly.  Alternatively, try a different DVI cable and monitor on your PC.

  • MacBook Pro is corrupting media cards - any suggestions on how to fix this?

Memory cards become corrupted when inserted into the card reader slot. When I put the card back in the camera, the camera malfunctions (Error 99 message). I have had the camera cleaned and sent in for repairs, but there in nothing wrong with it. New media cards work until they are inserted into the Mac. Now the Mac is telling me some file formats can't be read, but the format has not changed from previous images it reads off the same card, taken during the same sessions. Images I was able to see on the camera become unreadable after trying to download in the Mac. The Mac is messing up the cards -- corrupting them, so they aren't usable in the camera anymore. I have been told to try using a media card reader, but that is just a band-aid fix. Does anyone know of a real fix that could remedy this problem?

Make sure that you haven't disable background images.

  • MEDIA CARD CANT BE READ DUE TO FATAL ERRORS

Hi, I took my blackberry 9630 tour to the repairers to fix my trackball because it wasn't functioning. They fixed my trackball but the problem is when I insert my media card on the phone, I got a message sayng "media card cannot be accessed due to fatal errors" and I got shocked because the card was working before they opened my phone. Can someone please help me get back my 700 music files and pictures because they are important :'(

    Hello, Archie42,
To better determine if the issue is being caused by the media card or the BlackBerry® smartphone,  I would suggest testing the media card in a PC, if the card is working transfer the files to your PC and then reformat the card and then test in the BlackBerry.
    I hope this helps.

  • Vivitar Media card reader. Read only?

    Hello
Everyone I have a Vivitar Media card reader and every card I put in shows up read only? Any ideas?

Never reformat a camera's memory card using your Mac — always reformat the card or delete pictures from it using your camera's menu commands, not the Mac. A card that's been formatted on a Mac or had pictures added to or deleted from it by a Mac is likely to be found unusable by many cameras. Reformatting in the camera usually resolves that problem.
As for your card being seen as read-only by the Mac, that's not a drawback if you adhere to the practices I've recommended above. But if you want to use an SD card for something other than uploading photos from your camera to your Mac, then it's a pain, and the problem ha been reported here a number of times before. For some people, inserting the card very fast into the SD slot has remedied the problem. Others have found that they need to push the card slightly upward, downward or to one side or the other while inserting it, rather than just pushing it straight in. Still others have found that certain cards' locking sliders bind against the side of the slot and get pushed into the locked (read-only) position as the card is inserted. You can experiment with all these ideas and see what happens, but in some cases just switching to a different brand of card has been the answer. And while it's irksome to contemplate resorting to a USB card reader when you have what ought to be a perfectly good SD reader built into your computer, for some people that has been preferable to relying on an unreliable SD slot.

  • Blackberry Bold Media Card Backup

I'm new to the Blackberry (Bold 9650), so I might be missing what I've been looking for.  Most of the time, when I start, and particularly reboot my device, it always comes up with the message saying that the new media card has errors and asks if I want to correct the errors.  Then it asks me if I want to save lost clusters.
A service tech told me to back up my data card to the computer and then reformat my card.
    Questions:
    1.     Is the data card and the media card the same?
    2.     Will all data, including video and pictures be saved?
    3.     How do I save it to the computer?
    4.     This is a brand new phone with card.  Why is it damaged?
Thank you for any advice and help you can give.

    Questions:
    1.     Is the data card and the media card the same? Yes, the two names are referring to the same thing.
    2.     Will all data, including video and pictures be saved? That depends on how much damage there is to the card, if there is any.  Correct errors, save lost clusters....sounds like a bad card.  Data may or may not be recoverable, and all you can do is try.
    3.     How do I save it to the computer? You'll need a slot on your computer or a card reader, and if it is a micro SD, you'll need an adapter to fit it into the computer slot or card reader.  My micro SD came with an adapter - you can find them at places like Office Max, Staples, Best Buy, etc.  Put the card in the slot and read it like any other drive - copy everything on the card to a folder on your computer.  Then you can reformat the card, "fix" any errors, and try to recopy the information back to the card.  Me?  I'd spend another $10 and get a new card.
    4.     This is a brand new phone with card.  Why is it damaged?   It happens. The cards are so tiny, and delicate, they get damaged easily.  If the phopne came with the card already installed, it may be under warranty and you can get it replaced at the store where you got the phone.  Do the backup of all your information on the card, then take it in and see if they will replace the card.
Thank you for any advice and help you can give.

  • HELP Bridge media adapter slot

I have a Satellite a205-s6808 with a Bridge media adapter slot. I insert the card and I can feel it snap in. but nothing happens?? What and I doing wrong?? Is there a program that runs it??

Kodak what?  We need to know if it's a Secure Digital (SD), Compact Flash (CF), Multimedia Card (MMC), xD Picture Card, Memory Stick, ... or what.  In the meantime, I'm sticking with my suggestion that it is not compatible with the reader in the notebook.  As far as I know, the Toshiba Media Bridge adapters don't work with Compact Flash cards, one of the common types from Kodak.

  • HP Pavilion dv2500 SD card slot not working

I got a dv2500 model HP Pavilion, and I've never used the SD card slot before, I always thought it was some other kind of slot and never really bothered to check out what it is. Recently I noticed that it is an SD card slot, but it isnt working. I think the reason why might be because a few months ago I installed windows 7 and had to replace many of my drivers.
I'm not quite sure what driver I need though, any help would be greatly appreciated!!

If you reinstalled Windows OS and the problem is still there, most likely this is hardware related failure. I guess the SD card slot is defective.
Unfortunatelly, the SD card reader soldered directly to the motherboard, as you can see on the following picture (lower right corner).
The only way to fix this problem is replacing the motherboard. Here's how to remove the motherboard.
But there is an alternative inexensive way.
There is an ExpressCard/54 Slot on the same side of the motherboard. You can buy an adapter ExpressCard/54 to SD or ExpressCard/34 to SD. The ExpressCard/34 is a narrow one but it's compatible with your ExpressCard/54 slot.
These adapters available on eBay or Amazon for about $20. Here's an example.
Sandisk SDAD109A11 Digital Media Memory Card to Express Slot Adapter.
