700p + Activesync + AirSAMStateMachine.c 1913 3

Been trying for weeks. No luck. Have a 700p (Sprint), trying to sync wirelessly over the air with Microsoft Exchange Activesync Server 2003. Has never worked. Sprint and Palm advanced technical support unable to help ... Using Versamail and EAS update download ... My IT folks say my settings on the phone are correct -- and the server indeed works (all the 700w phones on our network are able to sync flawlessly, but the 700p has never worked).
After every attempt I get following error message on the phone:
AirSAMStateMachine.c 1913 3
Any clues, tips, suggestions, hints, truly appreciated.

I'm getting the same error and need help. Things use to work perfectly where it would sync automatically and would sync on demand. For the past two weeks, I couldn't sync on demand and would get the AirSAMStateMachine.c 1913 3 error. I then updated with the EAS update and now it will not sync automatically and on demand. Help!
I reset my treo to factory defaults and first setup my email and it gave the same error. Except the error code was different. It's AirSAMStateMachine.c 530 3
Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I'm using Treo 680 in China, and try to Activesync with my company's email in Sweden, which is using outlook 2007 email server.
but I keep getting the same error message: AirSAMStateMachine.c 1913 103
There was a problem with syncing. Can't connect to server. Please check your network or server settings and try again.
I even try to use some of the changes from this forum like put the email as:
    Domain name\Username
    However it still doesn't work.
Our server need to use proxy server, so the set up is much more complicate.
Have anyone encountered the same problem before?

The answer to this in not pretty but, in a nutshell, your Exchange administrator is going to have to update the certificates on the mail server.

    Error 14721 means:

  • Treo 755p can't sync w/Exchange 2007 Server - AirSAMStateMachine.c 1913 14594

We recently migrated to an Exchange 2007 server and would like our phones to start using ActiveSync. All our Windows Mobile phones have no problem at all. However, we have two users who have the Treo 755p (running Palm OS), and they can't synch.
After some research I believe this is likely an SSL issue, and so I tried downloading the Palm Certificates Tool and uploading the root cert (GoDaddy whom issues us the cert that we use on our Exchange server), but that didn't work. I tried the actual cert issues to us, and a bunch of other combos, nothing works. The error is the same on both phones. Disabling the SSL in the settings simply gives us another error: AirSAMStateMachine.c 1913 4682
Any ideas? Maybe I'm uploading the SSL certs wrong?
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Sprint)

I wouldn't give up so soon. Imag here.  Part time Exhange Admin, snowboarder, and denture wearer.
Your IT crew may have installed the SSL certificate correctly, and then again, maybe not.  I've seen a few 2007 migrations that have missed some crucial steps that are fairly easy to fix.  And given the symptoms you're seeing, it sounds like they missed something (left the default self-signed exchange cert enabled - oopsie-dah)
Check with your IT staff and ensure they IMPORTED and ENABLED the SSL cert using the Exchange Management Shell. If they applied it via IIS console, that may be the problem right there.  With luck, we can debunk and put an end to this godaddy panic.  Tell your admin they can PM me for additional details if they need any.

In this thread, the same error is discussed:
    AirSamStateMachine.c 1913 103
    http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=activesync&thread.id=4812
That user has a lot of folders, apparently "thousands." Versamail doesn't much care about folders other than the Inbox, but apparently the Exchange Server wants to send more information about the mailbox than Versamail needs or can handle. Not sure whether your mailbox has a similar issue.

  • Problems w/ Syncing Palm 755p to Exchange 2003 Server - HELP PLEASE - Sprint

Hi, I used to be able to sync but now I can't (nothing has changed on our server).  Only thing different I can think of is I got an updater icon "EAS Updater" and I clicked it and now my Exchange Email stopped syncing to my palm (on my old 700p).  However, I just got a new palm (755p) and still having the same problems as the 700p even though I had done numerous hard resets.  I have tried doing a hard reset, then set up the Exchange ActiveSync account but still didn't work.  I tried syncing my info from Palm Desktop then setting up the Exchange account, still nothing.  So I don't think it's the EAS Updater but then again, I may be wrong since nothing has worked.
Weird thing is I gave the Palm Tech person my log in and password and they got onto my server fine (I know I shouldn't have but dang, I've been trying to figure this out for the last 3 wks - have changed password).  They used the port 80 as incoming server and nothing under proxy settings. But I tried the same thing and got the error message below.  Did it when Palm was on the phone w/ me so even they are not sure what's wrong.
    AirSAMStateMachine.c 2214 6 HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request Date: Fri, 19 Oct 2007 06:44:00 GMT Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0 MicrosoftOfficeWebS
So I figured I change the incoming server settings to see if I can get it to work that way.  When I changed the incoming server setting to port 443 (automatic checks the SSL box) a different error shows (no proxy settings, since we don't use one)
SSL Error: No trusted root Update certificate authority list. AirSAMStateMachine.c 1913 14721
So I went and got the certificate installed using the instructions on the Palm site and when I synced, a different error shows up.
    AirSAMStateMachine.c 1913 109
This is getting so frustrating.  How is it that 2 different Palm Techs can log on using the info I give them on 2 separate dates but I can't (we are doing the same thing according to them).  Palm is saying it's my phone but I just got a new one last night (755p).
Any ideas on what I should do?  By the way, I am able to log onto the web so that's not the problem.  I have set up my AOL and Yahoo on Versamail and they both sync fine.  Exchange ActiveSync won't sync anything, not even my Calendar (even when I did it separately).
I would appreciate any help you can give me.  Many Thanks.

We finally solved this problem. We thought the requirment is to have Server 2003 R2 but it turns out also that installing Exchange Server release 2 solves this  problems.  As soon as Exchange release 2 was ugraded, the initial sync worked and OTA Push was working just fine.

  • Can't sync Calendar anymore

    Hi guys,
I've been synchronising my 6131NFC with Outlook Calendar and Contacts successfully for few days. For some obscur reasons, it's not possible anymore to sync my calendar from Outlook to the phone.
I've tried all kind of reboot and battery removal with no success.
    I'm running:
    - PC Suite 6.83.14.1
    - Windows XP Pro SP1
    - Outlook 2000
Is there any file to delete on any other things to do somewhere to reset the sync?
(I cannot find any file which should be updated in the PC Suite dir to store sync informations).
    Thanks

My network folks, just installed a trial with Zimbra. How did you get it working on the 1st place? For some reason whatsoever all Treo users can't connect to the server but with other phones (like iPhone), the application works just fine. The error I get is the AirSAMStateMachine.c 1913 4629; we are not using SSL.
The official explanation of error code 4629 is "Out of Command Blocks" and a soft reset is suggested: Exchange ActiveSync error codes and meanings in VersaMail (e..g., remove battery, count to 10, reinsert battery).
The official explanation may be wrong, but I'm not sure how Zimbra differs from Exchange so it's difficult to make other suggestions.
By the way, what phone do you have?

  • Treo 680 won't sync with Exchange

I had a 680 that died and got a replacement under the factory warranty.  The new one arrived and is unable to sync with my Exchange server.  I have the username and password and server address all identical to the older phone (running older software.)  I keep getting AirSAMStateMachine.c 1913 103 error, which appears to be related to certificates (according to the forums.)  I beg to differ because several colleagues have recently upgraded their Palm software to match mine and they can still sync with our Exchange server.  I need an honest-to-goodness real-life solution please!  I've messed with settings, tried with and without SSL, performed soft resets on my phone after importing the certificate exported from our mail server, deleted the account on my phone, created a new one...on and on and on.  Palm continues to waste DAYS of my productivity and this is just another instance where the product just doesn't work and the messages are so vague and the support is so non-existent that I have no clue where to turn.  I'm hoping these forums can provide some insight.  Everything synced up fine with my old phone.
    Thanks for your time.
Post relates to: Treo 680 (AT&T)

After 2 hours on chat with a technician and an hour on the phone with another technician, I finally got bumped up to Tier 2.  We established that I had to DELETE my Exchange account and start over.  I burned an entire day on this but that is what fixed my problem.  The error I was continually getting was "103 - Data too large"  Even though my old phone synced up just fine and even though I could sync a colleague's 1000+ item inbox, I couldn't sync my 11 item inbox.  Get a new phone = delete your Exchange account and start all over.  I'm glad I don't have to buy a new car everytime I need new tires.  Thanks, Palm, for not needing to know the cause of the problem (my data was NOT too large), just the painful solution (who doesn't like to delete their Exchange account?)
I can't wait to switch to Windows Mobile.

How to Delete Duplicate ItemsUse the following steps to duplicate items: 1.   In Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2002, point to Current View on the View menu, and then click to change the folder view to a table type view. In Outlook 2003, point to Arrange By on the View menu, point to Current View, and then click to change the folder view to a table type view.
For example, use the following view and field combinations:
    Calendar  Active Appointments
    Contacts Phone List
    Inbox Messages
    Journal Entry List
    Notes Notes List
    2.   Right-click a column heading, and then click Field Chooser.

  • ActiveSync 401 Access Denied, invalid user/password?

    Hi everyone,
Just getting started on trying out Exchange Activesync and I'm having a few problems.
    First, a little background:
    Windows 2000 Server
    Exchange 2003 with SP2
Global Settings , Mobile Service Properties:
    * User Initiated synchronization
    * up to date notifications via smtp and text messaging
    * notifications to user specified smtp address
    * direct push over https
    * outlook mobile access
    * unsupported devices
    * all enabled *
All Exchange Features tab options enabled in 'nick' user account mobile services
Outlook Web Access works properly for everyone with a proper root CA SSL cert (thawte).
Treo 650 Sprint with Palm EAS upgrade and VersaMail 3.5.
Versamail set to Exchange ActiveSync, pointing to the external Exchange host, SSL checked.
I go to sync messages and it begins "receiving" a few times before erroring out telling me that my username/password isnt correct (which it is.. unless it's a formatting issue).
VersaMail responds with: There was a problem with syncing. The server did not recognize your username and/or password. Please check and try again.
    Details include: AirSAMStateMachine.c 2214 5 HTTP/1.1 401 Access Denied Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0 Date: Thu, 22 Mar 2007 21:44:16 GMT WWW-Authenticate:
It obviously does not appear to be an SSL problem (which is just about all I can find information online over), but rather an authentication issue.. but I know definitively that the username and password are correct.
I have tried entering the Username as follows based on random posts ive come across:
    nick
    domain\nick
    domain/nick
    /domain/nick
    DOMAIN/nick
all of which fail with the same error.. I turn around and login to the OWA over SSL with a username of domain\nick and the same password, and it works fine.
Anyone have any idea what I'm missing here?

I am having trouble syncing my phone to Outlook ever since we installed an exchange server at the office.  It appears to be syncing, but the calendar and contact items do not come over.  It is as if it were still syncing to my old profile.  Any help would be appreciated.

    VersaMail
Which type of VersaMail user are you?
I'm new to VersaMail and ...
My company uses Microsoft Outlook and supports Exchange ActiveSync
    My company uses Lotus Notes
My company or personal email provider uses POP3 or IMAP
I already use VersaMail on another device and ...I want to transfer my settings to my Treo 700p smartphone
Setting up a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account in VersaMail
If your corporate email system uses Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, you may be able to use Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync on your device. Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync works with the Calendar, Contacts, and VersaMail applications on your device to directly download calendar events, contact information, and email messages from the server - without going through your desktop PC.
First, get this information from your IT department:
Microsoft Exchange 2003 mail server If your corporate mail system does not use this type of server, you cannot use Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. Mail server name The name of the mail server that provides wireless access to your mail system. Some companies do not give out this information because they do not want wireless access to the system. If you cannot obtain the server name, you cannot use Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. Proxy server Your IT department can tell you whether a proxy server is used and, if so, the name of the server. VPN requirement Some companies require a virtual private network (VPN) for accessing the server. Note: If you can't use Exchange ActiveSync because your email system doesn't meet all the requirements above, you may be able to use Good Mobile Messaging (formerly GoodLink) or Sprint PCS Business Connection instead.
If you set up VersaMail to work with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, Calendar and Contacts information automatically synchronizes directly with the Exchange server, along with email messages. You cannot choose to synchronize Calendar and Contacts info with Palm Desktop software or Outlook once you set up VersaMail to work with a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account. If you do not want to synchronize Calendar and Contacts info with the server, do not set up VersaMail to work with a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account.
Now you're ready to set up Exchange ActiveSync in VersaMail
On your device, press Power/End to wake up the screen, and then press Center to turn off Keyguard.
Press Applications and then select Email.
If you see the "Initial Setup" screen, select Continue to begin the setup.
    Enter the basic account information:
In the Account Name field, enter a descriptive name. This can be anything you wish, such as "Work Email."
Select the Mail Service pick list, and then select Exchange ActiveSync.
    Select Next.
Enter the account username and password:
Enter the username you use to access your email. In some systems, this is your Windows username (such as "John Doe"); in others, it's something else. Get this information from your IT department.,
Select the Password box, enter your email account password, and then select OK. Again, in some cases, this is your Windows password. Talk to IT about this password.
    Select Next.
Enter your email address and Exchange mail server name. Select Next.
    Select one of the following:
Done: Finish and go to the Inbox of the account you set up, where you can begin getting and sending email.
    Advanced: Set more mail options.
Test Settings: Ping the Exchange Server and find out if your settings are correct, without downloading email yet. You'll see a message that states whether the test was successful.
Optional: If you selected Advanced ...
    Select any of the following:
Port Number: By default, the port number setting is 443. You may need to change the port number if you choose not to retrieve incoming mail over a secure connection.
Use Secure Connection (SSL): By default, this box is checked, meaning you can retrieve incoming mail over a secure (Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL) connection. Uncheck the box if you do not want to receive email over an SSL connection.
    Select Next.
Optional: If you selected Advanced ...
If you use a proxy server, enter the proxy server name and port number, and check the box if your server requires authentication. Check with your system administrator for this information. When you have finished, select Done.
Optional: If your system requires a VPN connection for email ...
A VPN connection enables you to log in to your corporate mail server through the company’s firewall (security layer). You need a VPN if your device and your company’s server are located on opposite sides of the firewall.
Check with your company’s server administrator to see if a VPN is required for accessing the corporate network. Your device software installation CD may contain a link to download VPN software for the device. If it does not, you need to purchase third-party VPN software. Learn more and install VPN.
Once you download or install the software, you set up a VPN connection in Preferences on your device.
After you set up a VPN, you need to connect to it in order to retrieve email messages from your corporate mail server. You must do this each time you open VersaMail to retrieve messages from the server.
Go to Applications and select Email.
    Open the menus .
Select Options, and then select Connect VPN.
Enter the username and password you use to log in to the VPN.
    Select OK.
