7125 (v1.X) AXT MoBo & USB2 Problems

I have 7125 v1.x with BIOIS ver. V1.D052206 with a AMD3800+ and I have troubles when trying to plug in my RioForge 512 MP3 player - into ANY port - front or rear.
The player is not detected all the time - most times I must power it on/off about 2-5x before it is detected. I use Ubuntu 6.1 and it the problem was present in previous version 6.06. I recently re-configged computer to make it dual boot with Windows XP Pro/Media Centre and it too has intermittent problems detecting player. If I connect a USB 1 Hub to computer the Rio is detected everytime - at slower speed.
The Rio player worked perfectly on my previous computer (SonyVAIO FX120) which only had USB1.1 and it works on my wife's computer. All my other USB devices work fine - keyboard, mouse, external 80GB HDD but about once per month all USB devices fail on boot and I must restart computer to rectify.
DOes any one have suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike

OK, better late than never ...
I finally opened my box and disconnected all the wires of the front USB plugs from the 3 headers on the mobo. Then I plugged my RIO Forge 512 into the only open rear USB port. It seemed to be picked up and automounted by my Linux Ubuntu OS.
Then I plugged the front USB wires back into the headers and rebooted - the RIO was not automatically mounted.
This kinda sounds like the Pin 10 Issue BUT, none of the things I plugged into the headers had a wire on the #10 pin. The other USB items I have (external 80 HDD, Epson Scanner, mouse, keyboard) work well enough not to complain.
That leads me to believe it's an issue with the RIO MP3 player ... thank you all for you assistance - I really appreciate the help!!
Cheers,
Michael

  • Mega Stick 511 USB2 problem

The USB2 doesn’t work, I try it in 5 different computers, I update the driver’s and Firmware, it is broke??? I buy it a day ago!
    Thank you

    All,
The problem has been "sorted" for me. After speaking with the very helpful Alick in MSI support, he pointed me to the right firmware for my MS5511 1GB Megastick:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/firmware/frm/spt_frm_ia_detail.php?UID=607
It's the one called "MEGA STICK 511 Firmware" not "MEGA STICK 511 USB2.0 without FM Firmware" (what a horrible website!) and it's version 002.001.009.
Still the annoying 'This device can perform faster' message - but it's connected as USB2.0 full-speed and not USB1.0 slow-speed, meaning you can fill up the 1GB in about 20 minutes, as opposed to several hours.
I compared Alick's results using HD Tach (http://www.simplisoftware.com/Public/index.php?request=HdTach), and got the following results:
    1. A USB1.1 device will read at around 0.8 MByte/s
    2. My MS5511 device will read at around 0.9 MByte/s (USB2.0 full-speed's theoretical max is around 1.5MByte/s)
    3. A USB2.0 high-speed memory-stick will read at around 9.0 MByte/s (USB2.0 high-speed's theoretical max is around 60 MByte/s
    4. My (slow) hard disk will read at around 30 Mbyte/s
    5. A really good hard disk on a fast PC will read at around 130 MByte/s
The real problem I have is that MSI are marketing their USB2.0 device as if it's a decent speed, whereas it's only slightly faster than USB1.1. It takes me 23 minutes to fill it up, which is way too long.
Anyone else finding their Megastick any faster?
After upgrading my firmware to 3.000.006 I have got the same problem I get the 'This device can perform faster' message' but this was not the case before the firmware upgrade when I had 2.0. Also with the old firmware I did almost filled my stick and I didn't timed it but I think it could take about 10 minutes.
I have the MSI MEGA Stick 511 - Lite, 256M and it has no FM radio. Should I then not use the firmware listed as wothout FM?

  • USB2 problem?

My G5 Dual Core 2GHz Mac keeps momentarily freezes/locks up the mouse.
I thought it must have been a virus or corrupt hard drive database so I did a backup & re-installed OSX Tiger. However, its still happening...
I'm thinking it maybe the USB2 hub to which I have connected an external HD & Combo drive.. Has anyone encountered this?
Its really making my machine run poorly
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   Dual Screen

I have narrowed down the problem!
Seems to be loss of power /power saving on my USB Mouse (Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3). The LED switches off and so the cursor stops moving (although the keyboard works).
If I remember correctly this was working perfectly under Tiger 10.4 - 10.4.4.. But after upgrading to 10.4.5 this problem has come in. Although I have added some UBS2 devices and a USB2 hub - this could also equally be the cause (but I removed these & the problem persisted..)
Can anyone confirm if changes were made to USB drivers in 10.4.5 and if any new sleep / power saving feature is causing this?

  • 865P Neo2 LS USB2 problem (msi false publicity)

In the documentation, the Neo2 must have USB2, but all my USB ports are USB1.1
I m running WinXp Pro US + SP1, I have tried the Microsoft Hotfix Q816509 the last Intel INF update 5.0.2 but all didn't work.
I m very unhappy with MSI

I think I have find the problem, when I use the USB front panel connector of my case it freeze, but if I use another front panel connector it work. If I see the connection for my case front panel, all is connected correctly (red, white, green and black). Did you think there is the not good connected on the USB connector side?

  • ATI TV Wonder LE and MSi K7T Mobo - major problems

Has anyone got this combination to work properly or got any tips? My machine crashes all the time (hangs up) when I am using the ATI tuner card.
    System spec:
    MSi K7T mobo KT133 chipset
ATI 128 Rage pro 32MB graphics card
AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz (200 FSB)
    384 MB SDRAM PC133
    IBM 80G Deskstar 120GXP HDD

I doubt it's something that's too slow but rather a conflict of sorts.
I heared befor of problems with the ATI AIW but have no experiance with the cards myself so I don't have any specific suggestions regarding the card.

  • Help! Is my P43 NEO mobo the problem?

Forgive me for being a novice. I don't really know what to do.
I built a new computer with the following
    MSI P43 Neo (MS-7519) BIOS V1.3 (A7519IMS)
    ATI Radeon HD 4830
    2GB OCZ DDRAM2.
    Seagate SATA Hard Drive.
    LG DVD RW.
    Intel E5200
It blue screened every time I tried to play 3D games, with ATI2DVAG.dll error. I updated all the ATI drivers, but it didn't work.
So I sent the Radeon card back.
Worried that the Mobo wasn't compatible with that card, I bought a ATI Radeon HD4850 instead.
Now I get a ATI3DVAG.dll error whenever I try to play 3D games.
Are ATI cards just not compatable with this motherboard? Or is it my memory? Or something else? Do I flash the BIOS.
I'm running WIN XP. I was on Service pack 2, but upgraded to service pack 3 to try and fix the problem.
Nothing works. That's two cards now, and I still can't play 3D games. It usually crashes within minutes. When the computer boots up and the MSI logo is shown, it makes two beeps. It didn't do this with the last card, but now it does. Does that mean it's the memory?
Any ideas? I don't know where to go from here.

Check your memory with memtest86+ and if no errors are found and the system is stable, please update your BIOS to the latest version. >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<

    You have 3 PCI-E x16 slots (x8-x4-x4) and 4 PCI-E x1 slots.
On the other hand, your CPU is limited to 16 PCI-E lanes.
Those 3 x RB44Ge routers are PCI-E x4, so you're going to use ALL the PCI-E x16 slots for them.
With the remaining PCI-E lanes you need to be lucky ...

  • K8T-Neo2 (939) mobo + RAM problem

Hi there..sorry if this is covering old ground with this mobo but here goes :(
I've had my MSI board for about a year and a half now running with 1gig(2x512mB) of Hynix PC3200 DDR400 SDRAM.  I've recently decided to upgrade to 2gigs of ram and after fiddling with a 1gig stick that didn't want to work I grabbed another pair of Hynix 512mB sticks.  I've tried all manner of configurations to get all four DIMMs working but to no avail.  When the ram is placed old_old_new_new i get a fail to POST and a top left Green light on the diode with three reds (does that make sense) which means early chipset initialisation according to the manual.
When I place old_new_old_new the machine POSTS, gets to the windows loading screen, then goes black, flicks and stalls.
I've followed the instructions in the manual but it pretty much says I should be able to place the *identical* sticks in all 4 DIMMs without a problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated :( :(
    System:
    MSI K8T-Neo2 939 (BIOS 3.30)
    AMD Athlon64 3000+
    Antec 350W PSU
Hynix PC3200 DDR400 SDRAM (currently works with 2x512mB)
    Hope thats enough information..

    Several things.
You may have the wrong Bios for your CPU core but to determine that we need to know which Bios and CPU core you have.
Your PSU is way to lite to handle the load. You need 24 or more amps on the 12v rail and no 300w will have that.
You can not use three sticks of ram ever on this dual channel board. Actually it is the CPU that forces that limit as the memory controller is inside of the CPU. You can use 1, 2, or 4 sticks but never 3.
Memory should be matched and 4 sticks can force you to run at DDR333 so best to go with 2 - 1gb sticks in any case.
Mixing Memory make and model rarely works as each model will have somewhat different chips and timings. Stay with memory that is match for dual channel to work right.

  • Imac usb2 problems

i have been given a imac usb2 model that will only start up after you have pressed the PMU button on the bottom, when its running its fine, i have put another hard drive in and its running panther, it will restart fine every time but when i turn it off you have to press the PMU button again to start it back up sometimes you have to press it more that once does anyone have any ideas how to fix this thanks simmo567

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I've not seen this before but my gut feeling is that this could be a dead PRAM battery. The battery is cheap (about £5) but quite difficult to replace. Just about every iMac G4 is due a replacement battery nowadays.
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/imacg4/imacg4takeapart.html
The battery is next to the internal RAM module.

  • KT4 mobo & USB - problem

    Howdy all,
I was trying to get the USB ports to work on Mom's computer & I thought
It'd be pretty simple but I got fooled. I installed the drivers & turned the ports
on in the BIOS. Win98se detected everything alright but apparently couldn't find
a driver for the "USB Root Hub" --- needless to say It's not working.  Windows
keeps asking for a "ECHI driver for VIA" disk.  Does anyone know what's going
    on ???
    Thanks !!!

MSI Mobo's cd comes with some drivers. Microsoft should have some drivers too. Reinstall drivers and after disabling all USB stuff in Device Manager, let Windows try to install them. Also remember to enable USB ports in Bios.

  • MSI 7125-010 board & BIOS v1.4 problem

I have HD clatter at shutdown, two big 3 second clanging sessions so after I chkdsk, defrag, install repair XP, I updated to BIOS v1.4 from v1.3.
This caused XP unable to reset/shutdown.  Log off went OK.  I reverted back to v1.3, which seems to be off the MSI site now and all is OK.
2 80G Seagate SATA HD Nvidia RAID 0
1 160G Hitachi SATA Nvidia JBOD for B/U & Disk Image.
    AMD 3500+ 1G Muskin dual DDR 400
    6600 GT video
This machine is only about 14 days old.  Those disk clanging sessions have lessened a lot since I did the first BIOS update.
XP tried to load a driver after the 1.4 flash that seemed to be incompatable  I'm using 4 desktops but I deactivate these whenever I do something major
    Snoozer

Just get BIOS 1.64 from MSI, it solve this issue that system could not shut down with RAID mode.
I want to give the BIOS to you. But I do not know how to upload the BIOS to this forum. Could you instruct me? I am a fresher in the forum.
    Thanks!

  • MSi GD-65 Gaming MOBO boot problems

    Hi
I have just recently purchased this board, all is fine booting up etc, but when i want to enable the integrated graphics, it wont boot. its fine booting with just gtx 670 but i need to enable the i7 2600k hd3000 graphics for me to use virtu  mvp.
On my last board (gigabyte z68xp-us3p) it was automatically enabled and booted fine showing both my gtx 670 & hd3000 in the device manager, but the msi seems to not like it for some reason as it only shows my gtx670 in device manager.
Either im not doing the settings in the bios correctly or its something else ive missed.
any help would be greatly appreciated. Image is what i currently have it set at for my gtx670, if i change any of the settings it just wont boot.
    Thanks

Are you using D-mode or I-mode?
    http://www.lucidlogix.com/technology-virtual-graphics.html
My experience with Virtu is that is has a negative affect on the 3D performance so I disabled it again.
Have tried both modes, still wont boot when i enable intergrated
