72 Hours for Mountain Lion Code

So I phoned Apple and they said it will be 72 hours at least. I mean, I am just venting out because for someone who waited the Mountain Lion released (even bought a new Mac - hence I qualify for the free upgrade) it is very frustrating and kind of a big let down as a loyal Apple customer/ user. I am just so angry right now, I wouldn't say anything bad about Apple as I know I will remain and continue buying their products but honestly 72 hours for a freaking code is not acceptable. I am more than willing to pay it for it if only they can give it back even just a itunes voucher, I don't mind! But for someone who waited for this new OS 72 hours is not good enough. It's bloody frustrating!

Did you go to the Apple upgrade page through http://www.apple.com/osx and follow thorugh to register for the upgrade?  Did you get a redemption code to use for the upgrade?  You need to get that redemption code to use.

  • Trying to redeem a content code for Mountain Lion but says it's already used

    Hello,
I just submitted my claim for a free upgrade to Mountain Lion for my new retina macbook pro. I got the e-mails with the password and the content code. I decrypted the PDF and entered the content code in the Redeem dialog in the App Store application (German App Store). But it tells me this content code has already been used and can only be used for one computer?! Do I have to wait a while until the app store knows about the content code or anyhting?

Just called Apple, they said they are aware of the problem, and they will automatically be sending out new codes to the people that received incorrect ones within 72 hours.  That's a long time to wait for mountain lion .They said to call back if I haven't heard from them in 72 hours.

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico my first language is Spanish. I do not speak English, however I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Contact the folks that sent you the code or AppleCare for assistance.

If it was the contact form for the forum mod team then it is normally about 3 working days as all mails are dealt with strictly in turn also if it was that form you would have had a confirmation immediately you sent the contact form as it opens a new web page with a reference number on it and also you will be personally contacted by phone or email

I have recently bought my Mac mini ( July 12) and have already requested my free update code for mountain lion, got a reference nr, but I still haven't received a code via email to update with? Its been 12 days. Any advice?

I am still in the return window but i really do not want to return my mac as i know it has the ability to do what i want, my problem is just finding the software that will work as i know there has been a lot of complications with OS X Mountain Lion with softwares that caim to be compatible but then later turn out not to be.
I have been a windows user for years and this is really my first mac but apart from the hole software issue i find the mac 10x better than any windows computer i have ever used. For example i bought a HP laptop 4 weeks ago and has nothing but problems. At first the fans stopped working and making weird noises and then it began switching off when ever it felt like it and freezing like mad when i was trying to access the smallest program. I have found that now a days you dont get what you pay for with Windows especially since Windows 8 was released. Also Laptops such as HP now are just crammed with cheap parts, they dont take pride in their systems like they once used to unlike Apple. I know i will get more than a year or 2 out my mac (hopefully a lot more) but with windows systems it just seems to break all the time costing more money on extending warrantys. Also i like mac because i dont need to send it away if i ever get a problem, i can just take it into the apple shop half a mile down the road and they will fix it in store. Where as with windows i am waiting 2 weeks+ to just hear back from them.

  • How can I make a bootable disk for Mountain Lion?

How can I make a bootable disk for Mountain Lion?

    Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Mountain/Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the content of the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg file to mount it on your Desktop.
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the mounted disc icon from the Desktop into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable installer that you can use without having to re-download Mountain/Lion.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.

  • Recieving new Mountain Lion code

Posting this as a last ditch attempt to get a new code for Mountian Lion. As everyone else my code for Mountain Lion didnt work but i emailed asking for a new one which when sent was the same as the first one. so called apple and told to contact uptodate support which i did but all i recieve from them is a copy and paste email telling me how to use my code. after a strong worded email telling them not to dare sending me that email again they have finally sent me a third email with a code which is the same code as the first time. i now am at a loss as for what to do. anyone else had the same trouble or are they just playing a game to see who they can annoy the most. feel like im going to have to take iMac back for a refund.

Just making sure.  That ***** then.  I would suggest maybe taking your Mac to the Apple store if possible and let them know.  I saw a post a few days ago where someone took it and showed them the issues they were having and the rep at the store helped them d/l it for free.

Mountain Lion came with Safari 6, so you appear to have an older version of Safari still installed. At some time you appear to have moved or renamed an older version of Safari to your desktop. Make sure you launch the Safari 6 that came with Mountain Lion which is in the Applications folder, and trash that older version.
If you somehow deleted Safari 6 or overwrote it with an older copy, you'll either need to reinstall Mountain Lion, copy Safari 6 from another system running Mountain Lion, or extract Safari 6 from the Mountain Lion installer using Pacifist from Charlessoft. Safari 6 for Mountain Lion is not available as a separate download from Apple, to the best of my knowledge.

The Download is about 4GB, it depends on how fast your internet connection is and how busy Apple computers are. Have you any way of checking if your Internet is downloading, I.E activity lights on you router. My Internet is 8Mb/s download and it took just over an hour to download earlier today.
I am not sure about a "time remaining"icon.

  • The download for Mountain Lion

The Download for Mountain Lion has been running for eight hours now. What's wrong???

Try clicking Store from the App Store menu bar top of your screen. From the drop down menu click Check for Unfinished Downloads.
If you have a slow internet connection, the download may have timed out before finishing.

  • USB/Flash support for Mountain Lion

What App is availiable on app store as USB support for mountain lion? There was one 'USBmate'. Is it okay? If not please tell me how to get the USB support. I have downoaded installation of ML but have not installed it because backups have to be on external HDD. Please help me.

I don't know to what you are referring. I think you mean a bootable USB flash drive for installing OS X. If so, then know there is no such thing for Mountain Lion. There was for Lion, but it is no longer available. Apple never included any installer disc for computers with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed.
Reinstalling Lion or Mountain Lion is done through the Internet Recovery - OS X (Lion/Mountain Lion)- About OS X Recovery.
If you download Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store you can save the installer application and make a bootable installer from it:
As an alternative to the above you can try using Lion DiskMaker 2.0 that automates the process.
