720 p50 MXF doesn't playback on full quality

I had troubles with log&transfer so I bought Raylight for mac and it worked just fine until...
I have (shot with panasonic hpx555) DVCPRO HDi50 clips, so I adjusted the sequence setting based on these clips and some slow mo clips 720p50 that I'm using on the same sequence. When on pause the quality of the 720p50 clips is perfect but on playback the video looks like its pixelated.
I tried these slow mo clips on a new sequence and adjusted the settings thinking it will solve the problem but it didn't. I tried different settings on raylight but stil getting the same pixellated playback.
Do You have any information why wouldn't these clips (DVCPRO HD 720 p50) playback on full quality.
P.S. I apologize for threadjack, not on purpose!

Where is this footage stored? Faster drives take care of this. But regardless,
#2 Blurry Playback
Shane's Stock Answer #2: Blurry playback
ONLY JUDGE THE QUALITY OF YOUR MATERIAL ON AN EXTERNAL BROADCAST MONITOR, OR AT LEAST A TV.
The Canvas shows you what happens after the codec you are working with has been applied. The Viewer shows you the material in its native format. Once you drop the footage from the Viewer into the timeline, it inherits the attributes of the sequence. If it is a DV sequence, the footage will render out as DV.
1. Disable overlays on the Canvas.
2. Make sure you've rendered everything (no green bars at the top of the timeline).
Video playback requires large amounts of data and many computations. In order to maintain frame rate and be viewable at a normal size, only about one-fourth of the DV data is used in displaying the movie to the screen. However, the DV footage is still at full quality, and is best viewed thru a TV or broadcast monitor routed thru your camera or deck.

  • "Full Quality" = Poor quality text?

I am making a DVD, and am using video that is exported from iMovie HD. When I chose "full-quality" for the export, and view it when it is done, the quality (compared to how it looks in iMovie) is crap. It is especially noticeable in the "title slides" where there is just white text over a black background.
In my opinion, it definitely doesn't look like "full quality". What am I to do?

What I don't get, is that when I try to do the "share
to iDVD" feature, it opens a completely new project.
I already had one started, but it won't let me share
into that one. What do I do?
To add an iMovie project to an existing iDVD project, drag the iMovie project into the iDVD window. That is how we routinely include multiple iMovie projects on a single DVD.
As Lennart said, there's no good reason to export the iMovie project to a Full Quality movie you send to iDVD. In fact, it can cause problems. Your DVD won't contain the chapters you created in iMovie, for example.
When you Share an iMovie project to iDVD, or drag the iMovie project into the iDVD window, iDVD grabs a special movie iMovie stores for it inside the iMovie project package. The movie is in the package's Shared Movies > iDVD folder. To look inside the package, Control-click on the iMovie project and choose "Show Package Contents" from the popUp menu. (No need to go there unless you're interested. Don't change anything.)
The Full Quality movie you created is confusing you, for it's a confusing thing. iMovie calls it that not because it plays the movie with great clarity, but because it retains all the quality of the iMovie project. Exporting to a Full Quality movie hands us a movie we can import to another project with no loss of quality. Each type of iMovie project has its own type of Full Quality movie, following the movie format of the exporting project. There's never any loss of quality.
Changing the playback features of a DV movie in QuickTime Player has no effect on the quality of the movie itself or on the quality of a DVD you burn of the movie. It only affects playback quality in QuickTime Player itself.
QuickTime has been around a long time. On yesterday's slow computers, we would lower the playback quality on (huge) DV movies so we could play them more smoothly.
Note that if you have QuickTime Pro, you can set your QT Player preferences to play DV movies with high quality by default.

  • Original (Full Quality) Bug - Lores Images Being Offered For Download

I just discovered today that iWeb uses 800x600 images for download even though Original (Full Quality) is selected for the album and a 1200x1600 version of the file is available.
I got around this by selecting Large (Higher Quality). This actually offers the 1200x1600 images I had intended.
I wonder what will happen, however, if I start offering even larger images. What is the highest res that the Large setting allows? And has anyone figured out a different way around this Original bug? Obviously, iWeb doesn't think Original (Full Quality) means what I think it means... :/

If you want to offer the very large images for downloading you can do it this way:
1 - put zipped copies of the photos on the server.
2 - add a small thumbnail sized version on the page and add a text base hyperlink, i.e. "Click to download", below it and set it to point to an external page.
3 - for the external page URL use the URL to the zipped file. If you're using MobileMe you can put the zipped file into the Pictures folder and the URL to use would be:
    http://homepage.mac.com/yourMMe_Account_name/.Pictures/filename.zip"
When the visitor clicks on the download hyperlink it will automatically download. No loading into the browser window necessary.
The page would load quickly and if you made any changes to the page the large image files would not have to be republished along with the page.
Of course this will not work with a photo page. You'd have to add the thumbnails to a blank or other type of page.

  • HT201335 Hi.  I have an apple tv and am able to mirror the image on my ipad to my tv, however it doesn't fill the full screen.  Is there a way to get a full image on my 32" Tv.  Thanks a lot for your help

HI.I have an apple TV and am able to mirror the image on my ipad onto the screen.  However, it doesn't fill the full 32" screen.  Is there some way to project a bigger image onto the Tv.  Thanks for your help

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Mirroring won't fill the TV screen. The iPad has an aspect ratio of 4:3 and the iPhone 4S or prior an aspect ratio of 3:2, neither of these will fit exactly into a TV screen which as an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Apple TV will not zoom the mirrored image, because it may well cut off information which is situated at the top or bottom of the screen.
You may wish to try each of the settings in ‘Settings > Audio & Video > Adjust for AirPlay overscan’ for the best setting that suits you.

FCE can use DV or AIC video formats natively.  Any other format will need to be converted to one of those two if you want to avoid constant rendering.  The clips you use must match the Sequence settings.

  • Why won't my webcam videos playback at full length???

I own a HD webcam c615 that I bought for my MacBook running OS 10.9.1. When I record using the logitech webcam software my videos will not playback at full length. My computer says that they are 1-2 Gigs which is the size of a 4-5 minute 720p video, but the video will only be 2-30 seconds long. I am directing them to the "RawVideos" file for import into iMovie.
I just don't understand, this is really frustrating can someone please help?

Do videos made using your MacBook's internal video camera have the same issue? If not, you'll want to contact the maker of the webcam.
    Best of luck.

Yes Vudu streams. iTunes does not. If you buy or rent a movie on your computer through the iTunes store, then you are legally entitled to transfer that movie to your digital device as long as that device is under the Same Apple ID used to download it to the computer, and is authorized to view the content. Usually this is the case if your device is synced with iTunes on the computer  This is legal and covered by the terms of use of the iTunes store.
If your rent a movie on your computer you can also transfer it to your iPad but it will be removed from the computer as rentals can only exist in one place at a time. When the rental period expires the movie will be automatically removed from your computer or device, wherever it is when the rental period expires.
If you buy a movie on your iPad these can be transferred to your computer using the Transfer Purchases button on iTunes on your computer while the iPad is connected to it.   Rentals on iPads or other mobile device cannot be transferred and must be watched in the iPad or device that download them.
All of these methods through the iTunes store download the complete movie to the device or computer, so no internet connection is required for watching at a later date.
Rentals have a 30 day life as long as they haven't begun to be watched.  Once the movie has been started then it has a 48 hour expiry period. That is you must finish watching the rented movei within 48 hours of rental as after that it is removed from the device.  You can watch it as many times as you want in that period of time though.

  • Imovie hd low quality when export in "full quality"

    Hi
i made one hour of a movie with Imovie hd. When i exported to "full quality"
is not equal to the original!
I imported photos from iphoto, all in hi definition and i inserted audio track and Ken b. effects.
I have to view this movie on the screen display but i dont't know what export i have to use
I tried full all kind of export: quality, mpeg4, but the result is not good. Help !
Must i play from IMOVIE? But the movie flikering because of the rendering in progress.
Must i change application? Can u help me?

Welcome fabrizio to the  iMovie boards ..
first of all: iMHD is optimized and meant for TV delivery.. interlaced, low res video on TVs.. therefore, the quality of an iM is never comparable with a HiRes still on a computer's screen..
knowing that, there's another issue: your FullQualiyt does contain FQ, but the QTplayer doesn't show it... the socalled 'high flag' for playback isn't set..
    example:
same file ( ! ), see the difference on playback, actual screenshots: 'high' not set (1), 'high' set in QTpro (Apple-J, video, playback high) pic#2 ...
free tools as Mpeg Streamclip allow to set the high-flag into a given .mov ...

  • IMovie full quality export problem...

    Hello,
I filmed a widescreen video with a mini dv cam, which runs flawlessly smooth and clear as a bell at full screen in iMovie... but when I export it in either a full quality .dv, or the highest quality .mov and play them at nearly full screen in Quicktime, the playback is choppy.
How do I export a copy of my video that plays as smooth as it does in iMovie?
    Thanks!

I am using the expert settings for quicktime export
If you want full quality, then you must use the Full Quality preset.
The expert settings don't export full quality even if you choose .dv output:
    http://www.sjoki.uta.fi/~shmhav/iMovieHD_6_bugs.html#expertsettings
But that doesn't fully explain your original problem, though.
Disclaimer: I don't benefit from the link.

  • Use secondary screen as in iMovie 09/export full quality

    1. Is it possible to use a secondary screen to view the video preview of the video I'm working on a secondary screen, while viewing the time line and the rest of the tools on my laptops internal screen as you can in iMovie 09?
    2. When exporting in full quality is it really full quality as on the miniDV-tape or has iMovie made any changes to the video or compressed it in any way?

    Hi
    1. Second monitor on Mac port - Don't know I do like this.
    • connect Camera (miniDV tape) or A/D box to FireWire
    • connect TV or referens monitor to analog out on Camera
    • in iMovie pref set Playback via Camera
Now I see in realtime quality, color and audio as the result will be.
    2. Well. All authority says that it's the same - but when I tested and from
original saved out a frame as .jpg then Export as full QT quality.
Import this into iMovie and then saved out same frame -
I get a noticable difference. A diagonal line is fairly good in photo from original
and a stair case on the QT exported version.
Most probably I'm doing something wrong. Never figured out what.

  • Full quality Video Output

Hi I wanto to use my Imac to play videos, are NTSC videos compressed on MPEG2 Full DVD Quality or H264 NTSC Standard, I want to play it to external TV to play only the video, I tried VLC and connected the TV as second monitor and configured VLC to play video on second monitor, it works, but quality is poor and blurry, if I play the same video from DVD player or from my PC to the monitor it looks full quality but from VLC in that way on the Imac I told you the bad quality problem, What software can I use to play videos getting the BEST quality on my TV?? I have also a CANOPUS that I can connect to Firewire port on my pc I use that to get video signal output but VLC on my Imac didn't recognize the Canopus? What can I do to play videos on my TV on the best quality? what software or what configuration?? Thanks

In Extended Desktop Mode (Mirroring Off) you can drag the QuickTime video to the external TV monitor and then Enter Full Screen.
    {quote:}Can I do that on quicktime? have the controls and playlist and modify it during playback in main monitor and video playback ion my TV?{quote}
No, I think that your are going to need something stronger than VLC or QuickTime to accomplish that?
Head over to the iMovie or Pro Applications: Video sections of the forum and check around there to see if one of those will suit your needs.

  • IMovie Hangs After Full Quality Sharing Is Complete

    Hi,
Why does this happen? I did a Full Quality Share on a 2-1/2 hour multi-clip movie (using Share Selected Clips Only). The export progress dialog hung after the export was clearly finished. I eventually had to Force Quit iMovie.
The exported movie looks fine in QT Pro. However, Movie Properties in QT shows that this movie is 24 frames longer than what I exported from iMovie. Doesn't seem to be a big deal, but annoying nonetheless.
I'm more concerned about iMovie hanging after a long movie export as described.

2-1/2 hour multi-clip movie (using Share Selected Clips Only)
so, your project is in timeline even longer then 150min? how much did you import into iM, to create such a "beast"? must be a gigantic project, hm?... Titanic II... ;-))
iM is a consumer product, we do read of reports here, that from some point of size (imported data, length, complexity of project), iM is a little "overwhelmed..." esp., iM is part of iLife, meaning, mainly meant exports go to tape (=60min max.) or iDVD (120min max.)
secondly, MacOsX is a UNIX system, which makes excessive use of socalled temp-files on (startup-) harddrive... it is recommended, not to overcrowd the drive 80 - 90% of max.
probably, your ~35GB of data transfer from a ~60GB project was simply too much for your Mac?
    helpful?

  • IWeb 08 and Photo Download Size not sticking to Original (Full Quality)

I am using iWeb 08 to post personal webpages and photo galleries but even when I select *"Original (Full Quality)"* under Photo Download Size in the inspector it slips off full size and make smaller pictures. I almost always want to offer full resolution image to my friends and family. Is there a way to make this work more reliably? Is it being fixed?

I found in this iWeb test pertained more to the image pixel dimensions than the jpg compression level of the downloadable file as you found out.
    Happy New Year
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Questions about exporting to full quality?

    Hey there -
I just wanted to make sure that if I want to give my friend back a DV file from the converted tape that I choose Export, then Full Quality? I know that creates one file vs individual clips but her tape was one long one, I did chapter markers for the dvd and make splits but I don't think she wants those (some are arbitrary, e.g. the tape was long than an hour so iMovie HD split it into two clips). So, I just want to be sure that that's the right choice for exporting?
And, on that, does that remove transitions or keep them?
Lastly, there is a weird screen in QuickTime in the resulting file. It's a colorblock screen of sorts - a whole punch of pixels (big TV ones, not sure what they are called) in a bunch of colors. It's happening RIGHT at the end of the footage - not thrilled about it but it is the DV file, I guess. Depending on answer to above, I may at least extend the end transition so it doesn't make future editing difficult. Any way to eliminate it from happening?
    Thanks for your help -
    Alexa

+You should be able to move the cursor frame-by-frame with the arrow keys to get to the precise 'cut' point.+
I know - it's strange but I lost a few seconds of just black screen at the end - I even went back and checked against the actual movie. At any rate, I'm slicing them off carefully and now am adding just a few seconds of still time at the end so it's not an issue.
+What exactly is it that your friends want to do with the digitized footage? I recommend that you make them a DVD of the edited movie, and then export the movie back to the camcorder so they also have a digital mini DV tape of it. This way, they can view the DVD to see their movie and show to others, but they also have a backup on tape.+
Ah, let's see - somehow I've agreed to convert a bag full of VHSC and VHS tapes (and hours and hours of my life for footage that's not even my family!) At any rate, I am giving them the deluxe end product - a customized movie with smoother transitions and chapters, a customized DVD menu with images and chapters (and music, if it fits) and a customized case and printed DVD (Taiyo Yuden printed Watershield DVD). Yes, the works. So, then I told them to buy a external HDD and I would move the resulting DV files to it so they would have them should the ever want to use the footage again (e.g. make an "anniversary" montage that pulls in just clips from their wedding, or a wedding montage for their kids that includes the baby footage that I digitized.) So, they have the VHSC and VHS originals, they'll have the movie on DVD and they were going to have the DV files on a hard drive of the appropriate size. That was my recommendation since the problem was that the tapes sat around in the first place - they aren't going to convert them without help. But, if that's the "best" option for longer-lasting backup, I can offer it to them.
+If this were for your use, I would recommend that you also create a disk image of the iDVD project as backup. ...Because the disk image file is self-contained, you can safely delete the iMovie and iDVD projects without losing the ability to burn DVDs of the iDVD project that is now saved as the disk image. You use Disk Utility (or Toast if you have it) to burn the actual DVD disk.+
That is the best advice I could have received! I hadn't really figured out what I was going to do with the actual iMovie and iDVD projects after I was finished. I was reluctant to delete b/c - ahem - they've come back to me after 2 months of the last project and asked for another copy!!! But, I've already added one external for this, I can't house their memories in various forms forever. So, if I do the disk image, I'll retain the ability to make the disk - that's exactly what I need. I've already been caught once by the dreaded "you've updated the move file" bug once, simply because I had opened the original iMovie project - and I had to build the whole DVD again (and it had 24 chapters!)
Thanks so much for the counsel on the disk image - I had heard about it but just wasn't sure how I should directly apply it to these projects.
    Appreciate it!
