720 PN codec comes in "SPED UP"

Hi, hopefully someone knows this. Please...
Shot a project on the HVX 200 in 720 PN (60)? Working on it in post and the sequence auto sets to the codec, however all of the footage plays back in +high speed+.
Was hoping it was possible to adjust the sequence settings to adjust to a standard frame rate? It's a music video, so the length and speed of clips are important.

Hold on. Are you telling me that you shot on P2, then imported the footage from the cards into FCP, but DIDN'T COPY the information off the cards? The CONTENTS folder and LASTCLIP file? You just imported and moved on?
That is like capturing from tape and throwing the tape away.
You need to back up the ENTIRE CARD, THEN import. You keep the card backups as they are your tapes, in case you lose the footage or...something like this happens. You have to watch this workflow:

I have no clue what to do with the footage after you imported and it is like this. Never had this situation come up. I did, but then I reimported and things were fine. Do you have sound? You might try pressing CMD-J and speeding up your footage. No clue how to use Compressor here. The footage was imported wrong...no clue how to fix that.
Re-shoot. It happens. I once shot an entire student film...3000 feet of film...with the film facing the wrong way. The emulsion facing away from the gate. So the entire film was dark, red and out of focus. I had to pay for 3000 more feet of film and we had to reshoot.

DVCam decks should automatically lock onto the control track and playback OK, it's normally not the case the other way around with regular DV decks that don't pick up on the fact it's DVCam material and play back slowly and with picture and sound breakup.

The input format may have to be more specific and suitable; eg for Windows :-
RGBFormat(new Dimension(w,h), w*h*3, Format.byteArray, -1.0F, 24, 3, 2, 1, 3, w*3,-1,-1)

Are the Apple ProRes Codec's already installed in Final Cut Pro X or do I have to download them separately

I am new to Final Cut Pro. I recently bought Final Cut Pro X. Enjoying it. I cannot seem to find anywhere if the Apple ProRes family of codec come included in Final Cut Pro X or do I have to buy and download them separately?

That it works in iMovie is irrelevant to FCP. Has nothing to do with ProRes codecs. Absolute crap web site. Zero information about the media these things shoot. Absolute incompetence.

LUMIA 720 -- IN MESS

I am using my Lumia 720 for past 2 months the back key and search key automatically and it disturbs my workflow. It annoying and there are many small problems like suddenly the set will get hanged up and i have to click the lock button then it will start functioning,

"I hate neither Windows 8 nor Nokia. But I really do hate their combination - Nokia Lumia 720. I own this phone for more than a month and now I really want to get rid of this. I want to dicuss only the cons of this phone, as all the pros (if there is any) will be ignored with the intensity of the cons.
1. No dedicated folder structure. Nothing like a "Gallery" or "My Files". So there is no question of copying files from one folder to another because there is no folder at all.
2. Its true than you can use a external memory card. But the only action you can perform on the files in your memory card is delete. No copy , paste or even "Rename". If you have to do any of these you have to connect the phone to a Computer.
3. Yes, Bluetooth is there. But you cannot rename your bluetooth. Ok fine. What is there in a name! But what happens to the files you recieve via bluetooth. If you are lucky, you will find them in your "Saved Pictures" . But in most the cases you wont see your recieved files at all.
4. You cant download a video file. Its true that there are you tube downloader applications. But you can view these videos only within these apllications . You cant save them to your SD card. Some may ask what is the big issue in it. But guys, these video applications use the phone's internal storage memory and eventually the phone begins to hang.
5. The most funny thing I found in this phone is "File multiplication". Suppose you took a photograph or downlaoded a music file today. Tommorrow you can see 2 copies
of it in your phone. The next day 3, then 4 and so on. But if you delete any one of these, all will be gone Dont think that any virus has affected my phone. Bacuse form day 1 its so.
(Combining points 4 and 5 together and a previous comment. Somebody said its possible to download videos using UC browser. First thing , UC Browser for windows itself is a piece of **bleep**. It hangs every 1 minute. Second, if you download a video and export it your phone, sometimes it gets exported and sometimes not. If luckily it got exported, it begins to multiply as I said in point 5)
6, The battery. With the internet and all the background tasks OFF, and with no live tiles on the home screen, the maximum time I got with the battery is 11 hours. If i turn all features on, it drains in 5-7 hours.
7. You cannot open the PDF or .txt files present in your SD card. Only those PDF files you download via internet can be opened. Again you cannot PDFs you download in your SD card.
8. Applications can be saved to phone only, not in SD card.
9. I still dont know what is happening to my internal memory and what is occupying it. Anyway its full now. And only thing I could do is to uninstall the present applications.
10. These comments are from my experience for more than a month. Today I dont have this phone to experience not bacause I sold it, but because its dead now. For any other phone you can try removing the battery, re-inserting it and restarting. But what can you do with this internal battery?????
Again I want to tell you an awkward experience with this phone. I am a techie and has a habit of listening to music while coding. One day in office, I connected the Nokia headset and started the music. But music was playing via loudspeaker only. It was not recognizing the headset at all. I tried to stop the music. But none of the keys worked, Not the pause button, not the volume keys, not the back button. I tried to switch the phone off. But it didnt work either. I had to cover the loudspeaker with my fingertip for about 10 minutes helpless and suddenly the phone switched off. With relief I removed my fingertips and I couldnt believe what happened . Music was still being played from the Switched Off phone. Again for the next 2-3 minutes I had to cover the loudspeaker before the music stopped. I switched it ON again only after reaching home. If I had sold the phone that day itself. I wouldno have to keep a dead phone now in my hands."

Need help finding the right codec to play QT files

Like many others who have posted, all the quicktime files on my drive have turned to black. Previously when I opened the file, I saw picture and sound. Now every single file has only audio, but the picture is black.
I am operation on Mac O.S. 10.4.11. I am using Quicktime Pro 7.5. I have been trying to fix this problem for a month now. Many people have suggested I need to find the right codec, but so far I have not found it. I have tried: A52codec.component, AC3codec, MacOS 8.x, 9.1.x, Apple Intermediate Codec.com, Apple MPEG2.codec.component, Avilmporter-r7.component, DivX Decoder.component, DivX Encoder.component, DivX Pro 6.8.0.19 + keymaker, EnsharpEncoderMacOsX.cmg, Fbx 20091quicktime_macemu.pkg.tar, Fbx QT.pkg, Flipsformac, WMV Advanced.component, Flipsformac WMV Advanced Exports.component, Flipsformac WMV Import.component, IMXCodec.component, LAAME Universal Installer.mpkg, LAAMEncoder.component, QSSP_2.1.dmg, QSXEssentials.component, QSXEssentials.dmg, QTFvx.component, Red Quicktime Codec v3.1.pkg, Red Code iedcod.qt.component, Spectrograph.component, TSCC.component xiphqt.component, XviD_codec-r58.component, XviDELEGATE.component

I haven't even heard of half of those! You may have reached overkill on codecs!
Get rid of some of them and read this:
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, 3.1, 3.1.1, QT 7.3, 7.4.x and 7.5 and OS 10.4.11.
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.11 and have Quicktime 7.4 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
RealPlayer 11 (which is no longer in beta) for Mac from:

Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)

You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here:

and installed.

In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11, that you have downloaded and installed all the correct version for your Mac of Security Updates up to and including 2008-004. (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
There is an additional 'fix' you could try if you are having problems with Flash and Quicktime, depending on which type of Mac you have:
On Intel Macs, make sure that you are not running Safari in Rosetta. You can check this, and change it, in the Get Info window.
On PPC Macs, go to the Hard Disk/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, and drag the file 'QuickTime Plugin.webplugin' to the desktop. Quit and restart Safari. If things have improved you can trash that file. If they haven't put it back, as the lack of this plug-in can cause QT content in some widgets to cease functioning.
And now there is an additional kid on the block: SilverLight. Microsoft has created their own version of what a replacement for Flash should be. You can read more about it here:

Custom audio codecs

Hello!!
I would like to use my own custom audio codec. I am trying to do that step by step. So, I have taken the codec com.sum.media.codec.audio.mpa.Packetizer and the decodec com.sun.media.codec.audio.mpa.DePacketizer from the source code and changed some pieces of code, as far as I can remember:
- Codec/Decodec name
- outputFormats (codec)/inputFormats (decodec)
- in method "newFrameNewBuffer" (codec), the line String encoding = AudioFormat.MPEG_RTP
However, the receiver does not listen any audio.
Do I have to make other changes in the code???
It would be great if somebody could help me.

Blackmagic codec

Hi all,
I have downloaded the BM codec, as my plan is to import a non compressed quick Time (about 20G)onto my removable Hard Drive, then take it to a studio to master the film - a 90 min Doco onto Digital Betacam. I don't have a BM card and have no plans to get one as most of my work is mastered to DVCAM. The technition at the studio said that if I loaded the codec and created a new sequence setting BM in the preferences all will be fine - so far so good!
The down load is sitting on my desk top, but when I click it the message I get is "there is no application specified to open the document and gives me the option to choose one. The question is: Which application do I choose and what steps do I follow? I'm a reasonable film maker but not much of a computer boffin which is why I work on a Mac. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Didn't the codec come as part of an installer? AND why use BlackMagic's codec. Apple supplies an 8 bit or 10 bit uncompressed codec. Either one will go out to an Aja or Decklink card to a digibeta just fine...
Furthermore, I believe that Decklink will send a DV timeline to a digibeta just fine...

Lumia 720 - Defective Audio Jack and Random Reboot...

I purchased a Lumia 720 from Amazon.com in the US. After about a month, sound was only coming from one headphone. I thought it just might have been my headphones, but then I tried them in a friends phone and they worked fine. Other headphones didn't work either unless it was over Bluetooth. I have also been experiencing freezing and random reboots. A friends factory reset it for me several times and the issues still persist.
I need to send it in for repair; I did verify that it is in-warranty.

Is there a correlation b/w Error -2048 and MPEG-4 files greater than 2GB?

I am having considerable difficulty in getting any of my DVD/movie files greater than 2GB to upload into my iTunes library. Anyone else having this difficulty? Through another problem, I discovered that iTunes ability to play video is based a thinned-down version of the Apple's QT engine, which prompted me to try and open these files using QT Pro; however, there too, I am getting a peculiar -2048 error suggesting it is not a movie file. The files were created using WONDERSHARE and I am experiencing difficulty with only the files that exceed 2GB in size.
For WONDERSHARE users, here are my relevant settings:
RESOLUTION: 720*400
CODEC: H.264
FPS: 30
KBPS: 2,000 or 2,500 (toggled in between both to manage file size for longer movies, like 3 hour Bollywood epics)
Any help on this matter woudl be much appreciated.

Ingesting P2 nightmare

I'm trying to help a friend who shot on a Panasonic AG-HVX200 on P2 cards at 720p/30p. I'm running into a few problems. For one thing, it's ingesting at 23.97 and the compressor is set for 1080i/60 -- this is causing the video to playback in slow motion. For some reason, I don't have the DVCPro HD 720/24 or 720/30 codecs and I've been scouring the Internet all morning and no dice. If anyone can shed some light here, I'd appreciate it. I think it's just a matter of having the wrong settings when it ingests, but I'm not sure how to change that and also, those codecs don't come up. Anyone know where I can download them?

What version of FCP do you have, and where did you get it? Scouring the internet?

16:9 Movie condensed to 4:3 Movie in iDVD 7.1.1

I am trying to burn a 16:9 .mov movie to DVD.
The iDVD project is set to NTSC 16:9.
The movie's properties are as follows:
Dimensions - 960 × 720.
Codecs - H.264, AAC, Timecode.
Color Profile - HD (1-1-1).
Duration - 48:43.
Audio Channels - 2.
Total Bit Rate - 4,740.
Quicktime plays this movie in 16:9. The iDVD menu plays in 16:9. However, when I preview the movie in iDVD it condenses it down to 4:3.
I do not have Final Cut Pro or Express, nor Quicktime Pro. I will not buy these at this time.
Please offer any suggestions to solve this problem that do not require purchasing additional software.
Expedited help would be greatly appreciated, as this is an urgent matter!

You can try using something called Anamorphizer that sets the file's widescreen flag so that it is recognized as anamorphically squeezed widescreen.

Make sure Quicktime 7 is open before you try Anamorphizer. (NOTE: You MUST use Quicktime 7 and NOT Quicktime X)
Place a copy of your movie clip in a new folder and drag that clip over the Anamorphizer icon. This should create a second file in that folder that start with Anamorphic- This is the reference movie you drag-and-drop into iDVD. Note that your clip in that folder (which is the movie the reference movie points to, must not be moved or deleted)
