7206 ROMMON ISSUE
Hi there ,
we got some issues, that tftpdnld and xmodem command is not showing in Rommon mode .
ReadOnly ROMMON version is:
System Bootstrap, Version 12.3(4r)T1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

No upgrade ROMMON version present
ReadOnly ROMMON currently running
ReadOnly ROMMON is selected for next boot
rommon 27 > tftpdnld
monitor: command "tftpdnld" not found

Hi,
Have a look at this method as I dont see any support for tftpdnld for 7200s
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/routers/1600-series-routers/6301-rommon-boot-image.html
Obviously your flash etc is not "1600"

CTRL+break doesn't work, cannot boot on Rommon.
GoodDay to All,
Im using a 1750 router, and then i upgrade it to higher version, after
then i reload it, the problem it does not goes to start-up mode or
even the rommon mode, not enough memory to load the image, it always
rebooted after the self-decompressing image,
I try to stop it using the CTRL+Break, but it doesn't work.
Here are the error message.
Smart Init is disabled. IOMEM set to: 20
Memory required: 31637548 bytes, Memory available: 25165824 bytes
INSUFFICIENT MEMORY TO LOAD IMAGE!
The difference between Memory required and Memory available is the additional
memory you need to run the router. Alternately, use a smaller image; this
may cause the memory requirement to decrease, and may allow you to at least
use the router with reduced functionality until you get more memory.

Thanks,
LesterHi Lester,
After trying all the above suggestions, if you still are facing issues then open the router's box and take out the Flash SIMM... it will try to look for an IOS file thrice and then will fall into rommon automatically
You can use the following link for hardware installation:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/routers/ps221/prod_configuration_guide09186a0080099429.html#wp1077820
After you are in rommon, issue the command "confreg 0x2100" and "reset" the router, you will again go into rommon
Then insert the FLash once again in the chassis and then bootup again, because of config-register 0x2100, the router will go to rommon and then you should check the new IOS that you are trying to install.
Your router should have sufficient amount of DRAM to load that IOS, infact it'll help if you post the exact file names of the previous IOS and the new IOS along with your routers DRAM and Flash Capacity (But this is a secondary task which we can think of once you are able to go into rommon)

Hi all,
I cannot figure out why a new Cat2950-24 suddenly switches to rommon mode a few minutes after boot and renames all the three config files (config.text, private-config.text and vlan.dat) in config.text.renamed and so on.
Bug toolkit doesn't help.
It has to be some undocumented security feature beacuse swapping the unit doesn't fix the problem, after a few minutes it happens again.
Someone can point me to a link or something like that?
Tnx,
Max.Hi Edison,
maybe you need the exact cronology of the events:
the switch is a very new one, after a few days from the installation the customer called me "please run, the switch is showing all the leds orange and no host connected to it is working!", when I was there i saw the switch was in rommon mode, I then reloaded the unit which started to ask me for the initial config, after reloaded the original config the switch worked for a few minutes then it came out again with all the orange leds and the rommon issue.
"ok, this unit is broken, let's swap it with a brand new one", but the story repeated exactly the same way.
After an accurate check I saw that both the switches had in their flashes the config files renamed with a .renamed added at the end of the original name.
I saw also that a host, that was added immediatly before the first crash, was accidentaly connected to a port belonging to a wrong vlan, fixed that, the switch started to work again.
Now, providing that i'm not sure i faced the real issue or it was just fate, I'd like to know why a host connected to a wrong port can trigger a behavior like that.
The switch in object is part of a vtp domain, where the server is a cat3750, it has some trunk ports in desirable mode and has no other special configs.
However the logging system was down at that moment and i have no logging info to share.
Tnx,
Max. -
Hi Experts,
We have a VPN setup between a Cisco 871 router and a Cisco 7206 VXR router.
The 7206 is a HUB location and the 871 is one of the spokes.
The 871 uses a DSL connection to connect to the internet.
Today we've been getting a large amount of logs on the 7206, logs are as below-
Dec 14 17:47:48.326 est: %CRYPTO-4-IKMP_BAD_MESSAGE: IKE message from <IP> failed its sanity check or is malformed
Dec 14 17:48:57.078 est: %CRYPTO-4-IKMP_BAD_MESSAGE: IKE message from <IP> failed its sanity check or is malformed
Dec 14 17:50:33.191 est: %CRYPTO-4-IKMP_BAD_MESSAGE: IKE message from <IP> failed its sanity check or is malformed
Dec 14 17:51:47.383 est: %CRYPTO-4-IKMP_BAD_MESSAGE: IKE message from <IP> failed its sanity check or is malformed.
Can someone advise if there may be a problem with the DSL connection or if this indicates something else.Hi MJ,
Sorry about earlier, it did turn out to be a Crypto Key issue. But I didnt understand how the tunnels were showing in QM_IDLE state een when the keys didnt match.
Anyway thanks for your help on this.

7206 G1 boot issue: No interface specified for interface_command
I can't seem to find out what this command means? I am pasting a config into a new router, do I need to paste in a certain order?
It boots just fine after it decompresses again, but it leaves me with a very lengthy boot time.

Freaky Issue With Radius In Cisco 7206
yesterday I faced a weird issue in 7200 router. It was configured as LNS using its loopback for radius authnetication. But when I checked the logs on radius it is getting the physical interface ip. After that I configured my source as physical interface authentication process completed.
Can anyone tell me why it is not getting source as loopback. On other routers it is working fine.
regards
shivlu jainShivlu,
Glad it is now working. I think it could be related to CSCsq32625, which is a duplicate of CSCse02550, which was indeed fixed in 12.2(31)S13.
CSCsq32625
ip radius source-int not working inside aaa group server config
Symptom: Only Global setting for the AAA Radius server source interface is functioning. Setting the source-interface in the AAA Group configuration has no effect. Conditions: This condition is visible when a router must use more than one source-interface designation for communicating with the RADIUS servers serving it. For example, if there are two groups of servers, and one group uses a Loopback for the source interface, and second group uses the management FastEthernet interface as the source interface. Workaround: All radius servers need to be able to respond to a single source interface, as multiple sources distinguished by AAA Groups are not functioning. Further Problem Description: None

focus on bold line ,
did the router get the new iso without problems ????
wish to clarify
regardsYou are right, whenever Cisco device boots, the IOS files gets loaded on the DRAM.
But in this process, some temporary files are also generated which gets saved in the flash/Disk, that’s the only reason you got these error messages. It’s not recommended at all to have less space in the Flash than what is recommended on Cisco.com. I would say please remove some files from Disk and have minimum 256 MB flash otherwise your router may drop into rommon mode at the time of next reload.
Well, it’s good to upgrade the bootstarp image too. Currently you are running 15.X IOS code, I would say run 15.X bootstarp image on the box.
You may download bootstarp image for 7206VRX NPEG2 from the link below:-
http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=282188585&flowid=1380&softwareid=280805685&release=15.2.4S4&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=ED&reltype=latest
If you want to know the procedure of the upgrade, click the link mentioned below:-

I already mention the TurboACL feature statement. With ACLs, fewer are faster, and how they ordered (especially without TurboACL) impacts CPU. How you order you class-maps, within a policy, and how the match statements are ordered will also have some impact on the CPU load. If buffers are being allocated/deallocated, that too will impact CPU loading. I assume CEF is enabled, but for some traffic, flow caching might decrease CPU load.Remember a software based router, like the 7200s, are, more or less, a computer that takes your configuration and determines what's to be done with every packet it "sees". The more your configuration requires for per packet analysis, the more load for each packet. There are whitepapers addressing high CPU load caused by "process switching", but what you posted appears to be mostly all interrupt processing, which is "fast path", or optimal, packet forwarding. There's not much you can normally do to improve against that, other than insuring your configuration is as optimal as possible for your needs (again, things like sequencing/ordering of statements).
hi ,
thanks very very much for this nice information,
let me answer you :
you said that NPE G2 has finite capacity , but how to know this full capacity ???
i mean that my policy map is matching the traffic , but the matched traffic is not being enhancemend ??!!!
last about two weeks , the matched traffic of youtube was excellent and no interrupt durting the my rush hour.
i didnt change any thing, but my bw increased from 730 Mbps to 760Mbps ,
im un able to make sure that i need to chnage my platform to faster one.
agian

TACACS is not working in 7206 VXR
Hi all,
TACACS is not working in my 7206 VXR.When i am telneting in to router it is showing Authorization Failed.I can able to login using console.
KEY is same b/w router and the server .Please help.
7206(config)#do sh run | in aaa|tacacs
aaa new-model
aaa authentication login default group tacacs+ local
aaa authentication enable default group tacacs+ enable
aaa authorization exec default group tacacs+ local if-authenticated
aaa authorization commands 15 default group tacacs+ local
aaa accounting exec default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting commands 15 default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa session-id common
ip tacacs source-interface Loopback0
tacacs-server host 202.148.202.174
tacacs-server key 7 073D055B42291A413630384D2E
GURG-7206-EDGE1(config)#do ping 202.148.202.174 source lo0
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 202.148.202.174, timeout is 2 seconds:
Packet sent with a source address of 202.148.199.196
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 40/43/44 msIt is most likely a configuration or rechability issue. Double check
that you've got the right IP in the config, and that there's nothing
interfering with UDP between the two. With tacacs, it's good idea
to have known backup telnet & enable passwords, this same kind of
thing can happen when you have a badly congested link or some kind of
network problem and life is better when you can get into the router. -

3850 PoE issues with AP3600 and AP3700
The switch is more than capable of providing 30 watts of power to the 3600AP yet it negotiates 15.4 watts and then I get errors in prime. Can someone explain how to fix this issue or what is causing the problem? Both radios are enabled so I would expect it to draw about 20 watts. We are seeing the same issues with 3700 series APs on the 3850 series switches. The APs tie back to a controller and not the 3850 switch
Error Message from Prime
Virtual Domain: ROOT-DOMAIN
PI has detected one or more alarms of category AP and severity Critical in Virtual Domain ROOT-DOMAIN for the following items:
1. Message: Access point 'CAZBM-LAPA02' associated with controller 'BRO-5500' draws low power from Ethernet. Failure reason: 'The AP draws 15.4 watts from Ethernet'.

Changed from DS3 to 100mb Ethernet, routing? issues
Just switched over to a 100mb Ethernet circuit from a DS3 and having some issues, routing issues I believe.
I'm attaching a drawing to help paint the picture which I'll explain below:
DS3 setup
DS3 circuit connected to a serial card on Cisco 7206 router, has a /30 network internal to Telco assigned to it
FastEthernet port coming off that router with public IP and subnet(was half of class C /25) assigned to it connected to a 'dummy' 12 port switch(basically acting as a hub)
The 'dummy' switch has 2 Cisco ASA's connected to it, each with a /26 subnet IP from the public block that we had
Also there are 2 Routers connected to this same switch, their IPs are /25 subnet IPs, but they fall outside of the /26 subnet mentioned above for the ASA's.
Hope this is not confusing so far...
Only had one routing statement on the 7206, ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 serial1/0 and everything worked as it should, i was able to ping the 7206 IP from any internal device(either of the ASA's, the 2 routers, etc.)
New setup - 100mb Ethernet connection
Circuit connected to FastEthernet port that was empty on Cisco 7206 router, has a /30 network internal to Telco assigned to it - c.c.c.90
Same FastEthernet port as was used for original setup now has a new public IP and subnet(went down to /27) assigned to it connected to a 'dummy' 12 port switch(basically acting as a hub)
The 'dummy' switch has 2 Cisco ASA's connected to it, each now with a /28 subnet IP from the public block
The 2 Routers connected to this same switch, their new IPs are /27 subnet IPs, but they fall outside of the /28 subnet mentioned above for the ASA's.
Per Telco had to change the routing statement to point to an IP instead of an interface, so new statement is
Ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 c.c.c.89
The Problem:
I can not ping the 7206 from either of the 2 routers or the 2 ASA's
I can ping the 7206 from my internal network behind the 2 ASA's just fine
I can ping the 2 routers and the ASA's from 7206 just fine also
HELPCan we see the routing tables for all devices ?
Also the arp tables would be good.

When you promote an agent to be a supervisor, creating a login (the user is created in AD) for WebView, that WebView user has limited views - precisely what you see. Just the team(s) for which they are supervisor and the agents in those teams. I find this WebView log in (the agent peripheral number) to be so limited that I simply don't inform supervisors that it exists.
Use the User List tool and create another user for each supervisor, using their login name for example, and click the WebView check box only. Now they have complete visibility of Call Types, Skill Groups etc.
Those are the only two types you have - limited to the team, or global.

I am working on putting a loaner ASR 1001 into my infrastructure to replace my 7206 VXR. Currently my uplink to my ISP is fiber and runs into an GBIC SX MM transceiver. No issue with connectivity. When i change the fiber patch over to LC I connect it to the ASR 1001 GBIC and I get no link. Tried changed negotiation auto to no negotiation auto not affect. I then took the fiber and connected to a gbic I have in a 3560 switch link comes right up. At this point I am a bit stumped. Tried moving the configuration to a different interface on the ASR no luck. Totally confused.
What model transceiver are you using on the ASR? I didn't tink they took GBICs - ony SFPs. I think the one you would need is an SFP (the GLC-SX-MMD or GLC-SX-MM without DOM). That's what's compatible on an ASR 1001 for 1 Gbps MM fiber per the compatibility matrix.
Is the ASR recognizing the transceiver? (show int ___) -
Issue when I upload CSV file for insert contact list on Cisco Attendant Console Advanced
Hi Friends,
I have error "Provided file is not valid CSV File" when I upload CSV file to Cisco Attendant Console Advanced system. I'm not sure what happen about my CSV. My purpose is insert contact list to system and create CSV base on documentation.
Anyone have idea to solve this issue please kindly help me.
ThanksYou are right, whenever Cisco device boots, the IOS files gets loaded on the DRAM.

If you want to know the procedure of the upgrade, click the link mentioned below:-
