720p MP4 H.264 video not syncing?

Hi, I've got an odd problem with video playback on my iPhone. I have one 63mb video which is just over four minutes in length. Its resolution is 1280 x 720, encoded in H.264, bit rate of 122kbps, total bit rate of 2122kbps. It syncs to my iPhone and plays flawlessly.
I have two lengthy projects I've exported to MP4 with the same specs as above. The main difference is that they're both closer to two hours in length. iTunes displays the same info, but slightly different bit rates and the total bitrate is "not available". These two videos don't sync to the iPhone. "...because it cannot be played on this iPhone."
I have tried selecting both and in the advanced menu selecting "Create iPod or iPhone version", but this cuts the vertical resolution in half. I've looked around online but haven't found a solution.
Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the source video may be using a incompatible codec. Try changing the transcoding preferences or using another utility.
You can make sure there isn't anything wrong with iTunes or the iPhone by testing with known good content.

720P 30 H.264 videos stutter when played back on Windows
I have an interesting problem that I am hoping someone can help me with.
I have several short videos (2-4 minutes) in 1080i HDV that I have edited in FCP. When output to 720P 30 H.264 in Compressor at either 10 or 6 MB they look just drop dead gorgeous when played back on either of my dual processor Macs.
However when played back on a Windows machine with QuickTime 7, they stutter to the point that playback locks up. This happens on 1.5 GHz to 3.2 GHz P4 class machines with 512 MB to 1 GB of RAM and 64 to 128 MB video cards. On the 3.2 GHz P4, the processor utilization peaks at 100%. The interesting thing is that all of these same Windows machines have no problem playing back 720p 24 trailers at 6 MB.
    Thanks all.

First a correction. I am using the latest version of FCP – 5.
Regarding the encoding, I have tried going from native HDV MPEG-2 to H.264 at 720P from 10 to 4 MB at 24, 30 and 29.97. The Mac seems to play everything back very well, but most PCs (the latest IBM T 40 – 43 series laptops) a couple of Dell desk tops (2.6 GHZ with 64 and 128 MB graphic cards) and a 3.2 GHz Shuttle PC with a 128 MB graphic card (that we routinely use to decode four MPEG-4, 4CIF images simultaneously and display on a 42” ED Plasma) choke/stutter to varying degrees with processor utilization hitting 100%.
So, the real issue here is what is the difference between a 720p trailer that I can download from Apple and what I can output using Compressor 2 at a similar data rate – other than the frame rate?
And why does the Compressor output stutter on most PCs?

  • MP4 H.264 video won't play in Flash Player

I am using a Mac Book, OS X 10.8.5; FireFox 32.0.1; Flash Player 16.0.0.305.  I am trying to play video (MP4 H.264 format) that works on VLC, Quicktime Player & Real Player but won't play through Flash Player.  Why?

I'll take a look at the GPL sources to see how the firmware encodes the video output, I think the mpeg encoder might be built into the firmware's Linux kernel (instead of a stand-alone encoder program), I see references to the IBM mpeg2 headers but I'm not sure. But honestly addressing this possible bug is not the first thing on my todo list, but I do fidn this report interesting enough to merit investigation.
May I ask what you are using for the Samba server (aka windows shares)? Do you use your desktop PC, or perhaps a NAS server?
As an interim thing to try, I advice you install VLC media player to view the files, or to use VLC to examine the media files properties to see what you can findout.
IF you must use Windows media player, then I suggest you look into the combine community codex package.

  • Please help with audio and video not syncing.

I'm using Encore 3, and have already authored a DVD a month ago without a glitch. The following are the same steps I used, but this time around, the video and audio in Encore are not syncing.
    Here's what I've done.
    1) I export my Final Cut projects to .mov using the following settings (Share > Master File).
    Format: Video and Audio
    Video codec: H.264
    Resolution: 1920x1080
Audio file format: Quicktime Movie (AAC)
    Include chapter markers: Unchecked
    Roles as: Quicktime Movie
    2) I run the .mov file in Compressor using the "Disc Burning" preset.
    3) I then import the .ac3 and .m2v files that Compressor created into Encore.
    4) In Encore, I select both files and go to New > Timeline.
In the Timeline window, the durations on both are the same. But I don't understand why the audio and video are not synced when I preview or when I burn a test DVD. The audio comes in just a tad late.
    Video Clip:
    Source In: 00;00;00;00
    Duration: 00;02;33;29
    In-Point: 00;00;00;00
    Out-Point: 00;02;33;29
    Audio Clip:
    Source In: 00;00;00;00
    Duration: 00;02;34;00
    In-Point: 00;00;00;00
    Out-Point: 00;02;34;00
What's puzzling is that two of the 10 videos I've import to Encore are synced perfectly -- same export settings from FCP, same settings Compressor.
    Please help.
    Thanks!
    Mark

    Hi Mark.
Do you have any situations where there is more than one video file in a timeline?
Secondly - why are you using H264 HD files for a DVD? This is using lossy compression to make the H264, which is in turn then scaled & even further bitrate reduced for M2V.
I would give it a try rendering an SD video file for use in Encore - not the H264 - and starting out with Dolby Digital or LPCM audio, not AAC.
As with all DVD authoring programs, Encore works best with DVD compliant assets - which you are most definitely using - but I still think you are over-complicating things by using H264/AAC at all.
    Eliminating this may help.

  • 5th Gen iPod Video not syncing all video podcasts

My 5th Gen iPod video is not syncing all of my video podcasts.
I did specify in the settings to sync all videos, but for some reason it only places 3 of each on the iPod. This is using the latest version of iTunes, OS X 10.4.8, and iPod up-to-date.
This did work fine with the previous version of iTunes and only seemed to happen since the "upgrade".
I've tried restoring the ipod - didn't work
    Reinstalled iTunes - didn't work
    Rebooted system - didn't work
    Undocked/Redocked iPod - didn't work
    Please Help.

Assuming you're running iTunes 7, connect the iPod and wait for it to appear in the iTunes source list. When it does, click on it, and click on the 'podcast' tab. Make sure it is set to sync all podcasts. Check the 'video' tab as well.
iTunes 7 included several new options for setting just how the iPod will update in iTunes. So, it's a good idea to go through them and make sure they're set exactly how you'd like them to be.
    Hope this helps

  • Audio and video not sync

Hi I'm having trouble with my records, i just shoot two videos for my vlogg and one was fine and the next one the audio is not sync with the video, didnt change any settings so dont understand wha happened. can some one help me fix this. thanks

Using the inbuilt camera on your MacBook Pro can result in audio not syncing with the video, due to the variable frame rate used by the camera.

  • Videos not syncing with iTunes on Windows 7

I have been using my iPhone 4 as a camcorder a lot lately and I have tons of videos of my kids that I would like to start putting together for a DVD. The only problem is that iTunes doesn't sync the movies from my camera roll.
Thankfully Windows 7 allows me to open up my iPhone 4 image directory every time I connect, so I can go in there and manually transfer the videos. However, this is a pain that I shouldn't need to endure.
With my iPhone connected and selected in iTunes, I went to the "Photos" tab of iTunes and checked the box to "sync movies." The movies still do not sync.
Message was edited by: killerbear (changed "role" to "roll")

The word "Sync" seems to be misleading. Synchronizing is making 2 sources match each other. This apparently is not what iTunes does. It's really disappointing to find this out. Especially when I am locked out of so many areas of my phone when accessing the phone from my computer.
It is a sync process that is mostly a transfer process with some data kept synchronized by definition with a supported application on your computer such as with contacts, calendar events, notes, and Safari bookmarks, and all other data being a transfer process only. All iTunes content is a transfer process and the same for photos transferred from your computer. iTunes does not handle the importing of photos from any digital camera including from the iPhone's Camera Roll. Some people prefer storing photos imported from a digital camera on their computer manually, and some prefer using a photo storage application such as iPhoto or Aperture on a Mac.

  • MP4/H.264 Video to iPod

OK, let's start by saying that I have read the specs from Apple on what the iPod will take as far as video goes.
I have encoded numbers files with iMove and QT Pro to Apple standers and I still can not get the video on my iPod
    My encoding settings for iMove;
Video; Movie to MPEG-4, Video Format = H.264, Image Size = 320 x 240 QVGA, Frame Rate = 15, Key Frame = Automatic, Restrict Profile = Main, Encoding Mode = Faster encode (Single-Pass)
Audio; Audio Format = AAC-LC (Music), Data Rate = 128 kbps, Channels = Stereo, Output Sample Rate = 44.100kHz, Encoding Quality = Best
Now come on that sounds like what apple.com posts on there site at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/creatingvideo.html
I encode the video file, drag it to iTunes, Update my iPod and I get an error saying that they can not play on this iPod.
If I encode using Movie to ipod (320x240) it works just fine.
    Can anyone help???
P.S. Why with QT Pro does Apple lock out the Options when encoding "Movie to iPod" I just want to lower the frame rate and sound bit rate as the movies I am encoding are from the 30's and 40's
P.S. To the Mac guys that post back to other questions thats for the TidBit on HandBrake I will be checking it out for my DVDs
    Midnight Animation

If I am not mistaken, you are not the first to have encounter this problem from exporting video from iMovies to iTunes to iPod 5th Gen using that settings... apparently I read elsewhere people have more luck when exporting in the format of .mp4 rather tha the H.264... and I think that is the default setting in QT Pro's settings you talk about. I think some have better luck to re-export whatever iMovie they have using that QT Pro iPod Export Setting and that video would be able to play in iPods...
Ya I know, sounds silly that Apple make us go the long way round, maybe there is an update in iMovie for this in the near future?
    Cheers

  • MP4/H.264 video format license for selling videos

    Hello!
I have searched on the forums and I did not find anything new about this topic.
I create animated films and I want to export them as .mp4 with H.264 codec. Can I use these films with commercial purpose? (I want to sell the films to companies, as explainer videos, and also post them online to promote small/large companies). So what I would do is sell the film in .mp4 format.
I also saw that H.264 is open source now. Is it also available for commercial purpose?
If I need a license for Europe / Romania, where do I get it from?
I am eagerly waiting for your answers,
    Thank you!

PS: I am a small firm (in my country it is called an authorized person aka freelancer)

No one knows anything? It would be really helpful to get at least a link to where I can ask more about this

  • Iphone 4s video not sync'd with ipad 1

    Hi all,
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
I shot a few short videos using my iphone 4s, then I tried to sync'd them to my ipad 1, without success.
    Environment:
    - Original iPad running ios 5.0.1
    - iphone 4s running ios 5.0.1
    Mac Mini 2.4Ghz, 8GB Mem, OSX 10.6.8
    - iTunes 10.5.3 (3)
    - Aperture 3.2.2
    What I did:
    a. Shot 2 videos using iphone 4s
    b. Connected iphone 4s to Mac Mini using a cable
    c. Opened Aperture
    d. Imported the 2 videos into Aperture
    e. Open iTunes
    f. Clicked Advanced, selected "Choose Photos to Share"
    g. Selected Aperture, instead of iphoto
    h. Checked "Include Videos"
    i. Selected the Aperture Project that contains the 2 videos
    j. Selected my ipad under Devices in iTunes
    k. Made sure the Project with the videos was selected for sync
    l. Initiated Sync
Result: Selected Photo on my ipad, the 2 videos were not there.
Selected Videos on my ipad, the 2 videos were not there either.
Note: The standard definition videos I imported into Aperture previously
are still on the ipad, still playable, just that the HD videos from my iphone
4s are nowhere to be found.
    Appreciate any help. Thanks. /Kenny

    Kenny-
I think the problem is that iTunes does not think your iPhone videos are compatible with the iPad, so it will not transfer them.
You might want to get the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit.  It consists of two adapters, one for an SD camera card, the other for a camera's USB cable.  If you connect the iPhone's USB cable to the iPad Camera Connection Kit, you should see all your iPhone photos and videos, and be able to transfer them to the iPad.
Another alternative is to convert the iPhone videos to MP4 format, which iTunes will transfer.  One program that can do the conversion is HandBrake.  <Download HandBrake>

  • IPod 5th Gen 80 GB video - Not syncing with new HD in laptop

I recently upgraded my hard drive in my laptop, and am trying to have the ipod sync with the iTunes on the new hard drive in the laptop, but it says that on iPod can only be linked to one library at a time. Is there anything that I can do to take the music from my iPod to the hard drive? I have most of the music from the ipod backed up on and external hard drive, but not all. Please advise.

Is there anything that I can do to take the music from my iPod to the hard drive?
Use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
Most of these programs (like Yamipod) need iTunes to be closed so there's no chance of an accidental sync and deleting music from your iPod.
Once all the music on your iPod is safely stored in your iTunes library, you can click "yes" to any message asking if you want link your iPod to the new iTunes library.

Hi I do have a Brand New Samsung PN51F5300 not smart TV hook it to a MC572LL/A Apple TV box, When I turn TV and Apple box after 30-40 minutes video is not syncronize with audio, video is faster, I've called Samsung and sent me a software update (thumb drive) on the mail and I have already updated and problem still remains I have tried hook the TV with another cable systems ( Comcast and Road runner) and and have not had any problems, I've tried to lower the resolution on the Apple TV box but th eonly option I do have is 720p, Tv is fine what can I do to resolve this issue, please help!!!!

I have the same tv and an Apple TV 3 (I dont recall if it is the original or Rev.A) and I get an audio lag through in-tv speakers. I use one HDMI cable for audio and video. I seem to notice it throughout and not just after 30 minutes. I can't figure out a work around. Although, I did purchase a home theater system so I will be using an AVR for audio soon.

  • HD video not syncing

Am I doing something wrong? I have a tv show in hd and its not possible to sync with a 5th gen ipod? its 80gb so i wanted to put a lot of videos on it. Does the 5th gen support hd video? If I re-download the show then ill waste space with sd and hd on my hard drive. Would I get charged again?

    Hello Brian,
No. High definition videos are not supported on any iPod model at this time. And no you will not get charged again for downloading the Standard version, but yes it will take up more space.

  • Videos not syncing in iPhone

My first video import went very well. Now they do not appear or sync in my iPhone. After the initial successful import, I loaded a video podcast, and now the other files do not appear in the 'Videos' selection in my iPhone. None of these 5 movies imported into iTunes via the 'import' command show on my iPhone's 'videos' selection in iPod after sync. These files have short names, all lower case, no spaces. They play fine in iTunes. They were exported as 'export to iPhone' from QT Pro.
These files would sync and be played on my iPhone until I loaded a video podcast, then only the podcast would show in the 'videos' section on the iPhone. Interestingly, this pushy podcast does not show on the video section in the iTunes app in the desktop, but only in the 'Podcasts' tab, which is correct.
When I select the 'videos' in iPod, It only shows the one video podcast I have loaded. I've only got these six video elements loaded, and my iPhone is showing 4.73GB of free space. What's up? Please help...

well, Mike, It's skipping all my videos as well! This is just a 'broke' feature right now. I've used computers for video production since '84, and Apple products since '87. For an app from Apple to be so hard to figure out is unlikely.
It's just not working right now. I'll give it some slack because it is so brand new, but part of my rationale for purchasing the iPhone was the video capability, and the large 8 gig capacity for the videos I produce.
In fact, where can you find ANY functionality with regard to DELETING anything from the SYNC MOVIES list on the iTunes iPhone movies page...
    Dang.
