720p60 Video in a 720p50 Timeline Mistake

Eeegaads, what a mistake I've made!
My latest 15-minute piece (a volunteer project) was some well shot 720p60 talking heads with black background which we covered with stills and video from several locations. Lovely music. Great pacing. Brings people to tears-great. So, I finish my 14-hour editing session, export to Compressor, give it the routinely best quality for 90-minutes, and DVD Studio Pro rejects the imported asset as PAL in an NTSC project making a DVD impossible.
My bad. My bad. My bad.
I have edited 720p60 video into a 720p50 timeline for no reason on Earth I can explain. So:
1) Is DVD Studio Pro interpreting the 720p50 as PAL? Or is this a trash your preferences odd event?
2) Is it possible to just change the completed Timeline now to 720p60?
3) If not, can I spend a few hours copying and pasting between the current 720p50 Timeline and a new 720p60 Timeline?
So, what did I do for the Sunday presentation? Ran a Quicktime play back from my MacBook Pro of the piece into a 52-inch plasma monitor. Of course, you could see the QT player controls, but nobody cared. The piece brought the house down and made people weep. BUT the editor/producer/photog is a wreck/wreck/wreck.
Thank you, FCP Gurus. I learn so much from you all.

What would you recommend for broadcast?
Depends on the network requirements. Do they want HD? 1080i 29.97? 720p 59.94? SD? Digibeta or Beta?
For just a standard def DVD?
720p24. Less space, and DVDs play at 24fps...
For the internet H.264 and Flash?
Whatever format you want...just make sure it's progressive.
And it could be all of those.
COULD BE? So you have to plan for EVERYTHING? Man, not fun. Because network requirements are so diverse...there is no standard.

When I have video clips on my timeline, they do not play in the monitor screen. I hear the sound track but can not see the image. To test if my new files are somehow the problem, I went back and used video files that I used successfully a year ago, and they no longer play in the monitor window. I hear the sound track, but do not see any video. Have I changed some setting that controls video playback in the monitor window?

    Thanks for the follow up.
Missing in this equation were the version of Premiere Elements that you were using and the computer operating system on which it was running. But...
The deed is done. But.....Until now and after you went ahead and moved to version 12, we now learn what version of Premiere Elements you were using. We still do not know the computer operating system involved.
You just said Premiere Elements 10. Premiere Elements 10 is hit by a serious known display issue if the computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card. In this issue, the only remedy is to roll back the driver version to about May 2013. The description of the problem and how to do the roll back are described in one of the Announcements at the top of this forum. What video card/graphics card does your computer use?
On another front, Adobe will be releasing a new version of Premiere Elements any day now. No one but Adobe knows the feature set for the new version. That type of information is announced at the moment of release of the new version.
So the remedy to the problem that you presented in this thread could have been...
    1. Rolling back the NVIDIA GeForce driver version to about May 2013 if possible (Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit, may not be possible)
    2. Move to another version of Premiere Elements (which you did)
I offer the above for consideration so that you can review your decisions. We are pleased to learn that Premiere Elements 12/12.1 works for you.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions and ask for clarifications, but remember that the answers are in the details.
    Best wishes,

  • Adding an extra video track to FCP timeline?

    Hi there
I'm trying to add an extra video track to the timeline to add some extra titles; the first two video spaces (V1 and V2) are being used. I'd like to add a V3. Suggestions?

You should be able to do it with the normal menu command under the Sequence menu ... or simply drag a clip to the area above your existing tracks and a new one will be created.

  • How can I lock video clips to the timeline?

    Hello Apple discussion.
I know that holding down the command key disable ripping when triming.
But that doesn't work when deleting clips. It would be useful to lock videoclips to the timeline, so they keep their position.
Lock audio to playhead doesn't help the situation.
    Thank you for your time
    Attila

You cannot lock a video clip to the timeline. The program is designed so that when you delete a video clip, the other clips slide over to fill the gap. Otherwise you would have holes all over your project, or have to manually move them over. You would want to lock the audio clips to the non-deleted video clips, so that the audio slides over with them.
If you want to preserve the gap left by a deleted video clip, first insert in front of it a black clip of the same exact duration, and then delete the video clip. The black clip would hold all of the other clips in position, but leave you with a black hole to fill or delete. To make a black clip, separate two video clips on the timeline, and control-click on the empty space. In the resulting drop down menu, select Convert Empty Space to Clip. Then control-click on the black clip and in the resulting window adjust the time duration by overwriting the values in the time box and then clicking the Set button.

  • How to get video thumbnails on the timeline?

I've got a single thumbnail at the very beginning of the video clip (on the timeline) ... I've seen pictures of thumbnails all along the timeline, wherever a clip changes. How do I activate this function? Can't find it in preferences.
    Ben

You get thumbnails only when you add time markers. For each marker his thumbnail.

  • Can I restore a video that I deleted by mistake?

If you have no backups of the phone that would contain the video, then you cannot retrieve it.

  • Volume doesn't come with video when dropped into timeline (CS3)

when I click the "insert" button in the Source window to drop a defined video segment into the timeline, all of a sudden the audio doesn't come with it.  It was but now it doesn't.  I was messing with the link/unlink for other clips in the timeline but I"m not sure how that relates to dropping segments in the timeline and why the audio doesn't come with it.

This was driving me nuts.  I started a new sequence and it worked there.  I went back to my original sequence and it still wouldn't drop in the audio yet I could copy and paste the audio AND video from the new sequence into the old.  It turns out that somehow I was able to (not intentionally) make no audio track active in my first sequence and when I used the insert button it didn't bring the audio.  But if I clicked on the source video and dragged it to the timeline both audio and video came to the timeline.  Once I highlited the audio channel the little insert button worked.
    This drove me nuts.

When using Final Cut Express, the video in the Viewer window looks fine, but when I insert the video into the Canvas Timeline it appears to lose resolution, and look fuzzy and blurry. Are there preferences or settings for the Timeline that cause this?

Thanks David. I had to convert the mts file to Quick Time (using AunSoft Conversion software) before I could import it into Final Cut Express. And I made sure I kept the size of movie (720 X 480 with letterbox) to compliment what I set my Panaconic AVCCAM video recorder at (720/60). Even after I fully render it, it still looks fuzzy in the Canvas window at the right that plays what I have editing down in the Timeline. A friend that edits some using Final Cut Pro helped me to narrow things down to this problem. This is also wierd. If my Viewer window at the left is set to 200% to get the person's head the same size in the Canvas window at the right we needed to put it to 400%. Does this make any sense. We think we need to control the Time line resolution somehow but cannot find any options from my manual, or the help, or in the various drop down menus. Do you have any clue? What is going on?

  • Relink audio to video clip pasted in timeline in FCP7?

Hi, I need to add the original synced audio back into a montage I made in FCP7. I originally made the montage by pasting video clips into the timeline without their corresponding audio - instead of simply pasting video and audio for each clip and muting the audio like I used to (somehow I thought this new way would be easier). Each clip in the montage was cut using in and out points on their respective source clips, but in some cases I've used those source clips for other sequences so the in and out points I'd used for the montage aren't all still saved. What is the easiest way to reinsert each clip's audio  without manually cutting each in and out point again?
Sorry if this is a beginner's question! I hope I explained it well.
    Thanks,
    Adam

Park on the first frame of the clip. Press X to mark IN and OUT on that clip. Then press F to matchframe to the source. Then F10 to cut the clip, and it's audio...into the sequence.
If you map the audio tracks first, then it's very quick.  X...F...F10.  X...F...F10.

  • How can I optimize just the video on a project timeline?

    Hi everyone,
I've been working on a 1 hour documentary using original non-optimized media, now that I'm approaching the final steps of the edit I would like to optimize all the video in the timeline, but NOT all the footage I have in the events.
I did NOT optimized my media on import: all my events and project are made up of video non-converted, just imported. I did that because I didn't have enough storage to transcode to ProRes the whole 40 hours of footage.
The folders now full of media in Final Cut Events are the "original media" ones.
Now I'll add some title, subtitles and color-correction and I want to be a little more fast. Then I'll step in the "export" zone, and I know it is much better to export from optimized media than from original media, that's why I want a 'ProRes opimized media' project timeline.
Thank you in advance to anyone with advices!

    Thank you Tom,
at least I know there is no need I keep on wondering "WHY?"...
This impossibility to transcote footage on timeline seem to me a big downside to this new version... I just have in mind all the options for managing media in FCP 7...
    Thank you again,
always read your tips: veru useful!

  • AVC H264 720p60 video with AC-3 asynchronous after exporting as AVCHD using Pre11

    Dear community,
I am currently facing a problem concerning asynchronous video and sound after rendering AVC files including H264 codec at 720p60 and AC3 sound as well as multiple stereo tracks.
The video is recorded using Hauppauge Hauppauge HVR-5500HD to record DVB-C.
After editing (only cutting, no effects) and exporting as AVCHD 720p60, vbr 2pass, I get gradually increasing asynchronity. Some exports are at the beginning perfecty synchronous and get more and more asynchronous (until reaching a peak of approximately 5 minutes delay of video at a 2 hours export), others have the delay at the beginning and are perfecly synchronous at the end.
However, that issue doesn't occur with all souce files, only with some random ones! (Unfortunately the most!)
Here is the output of the souce video using MediaInfo (1 example out of many similar ones):

I think there could be a problem with the pre-settings!
As i did buy PrE11 only for editing this and similar videos I would be very pleased if someone could help me solve my issue.
(Please don't tell me that I should buy Adobe Premiere Pro or any other version as them are much too expensive for my purpose and as PrE11 should be capable to do that job.)
    Best regards

Just tested your suggested codecs. Works fine (at least on a 51s clip).
Only disadvantage: WinTV v7 (shipped with the TV card) refuses to show any image (just black screen)!

    Thanks for help again
