7300 support for MPLS TE

Does the 7300 currently support MPLS TE, either in the PXF path or software processed?

The 7300 does support MPLS TE. You can choose the version that supports if you have access to the Feature navigator tool which requires a CCO account.

    Assalam o Alaikum,
Is there any IOS for 2801 router which has the support for MPLS?

    Alaikum Al Salam,
Please use Cisco Feature Navigator to find information about Cisco IOS software images and the supported features for your platform(s) :
    http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/CFN/jsp/index.jsp
Search by feature and choose MPLS, and then choose Cisco 2801 as the platform, you'll get a list of the IOSs that support MPLS on your platform, and please always check the required DRAM and Flash.

  • IOS support for MPLS QoS as stated in RFC 3270 L-LSP

    Hi,
does anybody know something about the degree of implementation of RFC 3270 (Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) Support of Differentiated Services), particularly on the classification based on Labels (L-LSP)?
From what is detailed on the CCO it seems that only Exp-bits based LSP are supported (configuring all links along the path for the proper data plane behaviour based on the Exp-bits values): E-LSP
    Thanx in advance
    Francesco

I guess, in PPP and LAN environments, E-LSP is the preferred method and in the ATM only L-LSP is possible. Maybe cisco chose to implement only the E-LSP for the LAN and PPP environments, i am not sure though.
    Anyone knows this for sure?

  • MPLS VPN support for VPNv6

    All,
which routers and IOS has MPLS VPN support for VPNv6?
    regards
    Devang Patel

    Hello Devang,
in the feature navigator look for the 6VPE feature for example a C7609 with sup720 3BXL and IOS 12.2(33)SxHa2 has the vpnv6 address-family.
    see for example
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/ipv6/configuration/guide/ip6-ov_mpls_6vpe.html
you still need an MPLS/Ipv4 core or an ipv4 core if using GRE tunnels:
Table 1 Feature Information for Implementing IPv6 VPN over MPLS
    Feature Name Releases Feature Information
    IPv6 VPN over MPLS (6VPE)
    12.2(28)SB
    12.2(33)SRB
    12.4(20)T
The IPv6 VPN (6VPE) over a MPLS IPv4 core infrastructure feature allows ISPs to offer IPv6 VPN services to their customers.
This entire document provides information about this feature.
MPLS VPN 6VPE support over IP tunnels
    12.2(33)

  • Nomachine NX/FreeNX, can't get 3D accelearation support for Virtualbox

    Greetings to everyone!
I have a problem, which hopefuly someone knows how to solve?
I've installed everything I needed for one small headless testing server based on Arch linux (x64, kernel 2.6.32 and X.Org X Server 1.7.3.902 (1.7.4 RC 2)), and have setup only basic stuff and services (I've attached rc.conf file)
In addition I've setup also a desktop enviroment based on LXDE (in case of problems but it's stared manualy only when need and by NXclient or ssh -X), NVIDIA drivers (v. 190.53), VirtualBox 3.1.2 and VMWare Server 2.0.2 (x64).
When I'm working directly on computer everything is working just fine and I have support for hardware acceleration in Virtualbox, but when I try to use it from remote location (eg. using NX client, or using X forwarding over SSH), I can't get access to 3D features of VirtualBox (3D acceleration and 2D acceleration buttons are greyed out!), also when I try to access NVIDIA settings panel it says "You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server." Well I'm pretty sure I have drivers installed, but is there any chance they are badly configured?
I really Arch linux and would like use it as my main distro and really would like if someone can help me find a solution for this problem, (especially knowing that the same things IS working on my second and much older computer based on Intel Pentium 4 (2.0 Ghz), ASUS P4B533 Asus GF4 MX440 graphic card Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS), and that it's a bit frustrating
The newer computer is based on AMD Athlon II X2 240, Gigabyte MA770-UD3, and Gigabyte 7300GS graphic card.
I've tried so many tutorials, many found on this forum, tried with different GUI (KDE, GNOME, LXDE) in case i "skipped" something and nothing helped me..
Checked everything (I know) twice and even more, but no success.
Is there some way to use hardware acceleration over remote sessions , am I missing something or is "the resistance futile" ?
I'm sending my rc.conf, xorg.conf file, so if someone has more expirience with it?
    Thank you.

Greetings to you all from Zagreb (Croatia)

The thing is I don't have any problem when I'm working in front of computer, only when using remote sessions (like NX, VNC, etc.).
I can install additions, but I can't select 3D acceleration checkbox (it is disabled - grayed out) in Virtualbox, or use any graphic hardware advanced feature on computer when I'm using remote session, but it's enabled when using local session.
Even when I try (when connected over NX) commands like glxinfo | grep render
it says something like "not using direct rendering", looks like it's not even using nvidia driver, output show mesa driver is in use?
Could it be something with remote access, remote access rights or something like that?
During installations was following mostly tutorials from Arch Wiki.
Maybe I missconfigured something, or didn't configured at all?

  • Future support for C++0x in Sun Studio

I've recently been having to defend my choice of using the sun studio compiler against several gcc advocates here in the office. The one reasonable issue they keep bringing up is when the upcoming C++0x (more like C++1x or even C++2x at the pace the standards committee is operating at) features will be available in complete fashion in sun studio. They say, and I have to begrudgingly agree, that judging by the amount of time it took studio to support boost (template templates, certain partial template specializations, etc), there could be a long delay between the release of gcc's C++0x support and that of studio's.
I understand that many of the new features of C++0x, even from initial glance, appear to be quite complicated, especially lambda functors and their associated []/auto return types, variadac template parameters and class concept checking. In addition, I understand gcc has an unfair advantage so to speak since it is being used as the test bed for many of the committee proposal submitter's proof-of-concept implementations (the variadic template parameter feasibility implementation written for gcc comes to mind).
Could a developer please assuage my fears and inform me that the studio team has a roadmap/timeframe in place to release a studio that fully supports the new language-level features in a reasonably competitive time frame? It apparently will be the responsibility of the STLPort team to essentially copy many of boost's libraries (shared_ptrs, random numbers, type_traits) and rename them and move them to the std namespace and also supply the new unordered<> containers, to name a few.
I for one can't wait until boost::mpl, boost::fusion, boost::format and others are all reduced from 10's of 1000's of lines of pre-processor generated crufty template definitions to a single variadic template declaration. Also, I won't feel quite so willfully derelict to efficient code every time i bust out an std::for_each and drop in a boost::bind generated functor and instead can use a lambda function with the various efficiency gains ranging from direct referencing to the stack variables passed in as the closure arguments to the ability for the compiler to actually inline the body of the lambda function where appropriate.
I'm in no way trying to accuse you compiler developers of being slow to implement features, but just would like to be assured that there is nothing to worry about and there is a plan and current work being done on the required features. I know it's still a couple of years off, but I personally can't wait to replace hundreds of lines of boost::bind() calls with their more efficent lambda equivalent, and in addition clean up interfaces that could have used boost::bind if it weren't for the unacceptable overhead introduced often executed blocks of code.
    Thanks,
Chris Knight - Faithful sun studio user through at least 2 major name changes and since at lest when it was called Forte 4.2 and RougeWave and classicIO libraries roamed the earth in vast quantities.
P.S. I truly fear that the other 3 major compilers (gnu, intel, ms) will be out the door with C++0x in around the same time and boost will then willingly drop support for the sun compiler if it doesn't support the required language features at that time as they had no problem not supporting studio at all until Studio 12 so I'm sure as soon as the 3 compilers they run nightly tests with support it, they'll be just as eager to
make use of the new features as I am.
This leaves someone who has based their entire system on Solaris + SunStudio + Boost in a potentially undesirable situation. Solaris is far too stable and Linux to ever-changing to ever consider Linux as a platform for critical systems yet the idea of running g++ on Solaris w/ gcc's propensity to change their ABI on a weekly basis gives me immediate heartburn.
    Thanks again.

You raise some very good points, and believe me, we are even more aware of them than you are!
Short answer: We are planning to bring out a compiler conforming to C++0X in a timely fashion.
    Longer answer:
Right now, we are working on providing binary compatibility with g++ as an option in the next compiler release. When we are done, you will be able to use g++ headers with Sun C++, and link the code with binaries created by g++. The first implementation will be on Linux. (Which versions of g++ and which versions of Linux? Stay tuned.)
Implementing all the new features of C++0X will require a re-design of parts of the compiler front end. The current compiler organization does not support "concepts", for example. (We've been looking for an excuse to re-design the front end for a while, and C++0x is not just an excuse -- it's a requirement.) With the g++ ABI work done, we'll ready to start the re-design, and begin to implement C++0x features.
We won't release an official (stable, fully-supported) product with C++0X features until the standard is final. Until then, any feature could change in unpredictable ways. We got caught by that problem with C++ 4.2 and C++98 -- we implemented what we thought were final features that changed dramatically after we released the compiler. We won't do that again. Compiler stability is one of our most important considerations.
Beginning some time next year, we expect to have Express releases with some C++0X features. Express releases are our way of providing compilers with experimental features that might not be stable yet. It gives our customers a chance to try them out and provide feedback before they become part of a stable release. That is to say, a feature flagged as experimental is subject to change, and compatibility with other Express or official releases is not guaranteed. We can therefore fix bugs and catch up with late changes in the Standard as necessary.
We have not yet done all the planning for our C++0X compiler, so I can't give you any estimates about specific feature availability and time frames. When we are farther along, we'll post the road map on a public site, and I'll announce it here.

  • 7600 as Backbone router for MPLS core

I have 7600's and 7500's in my backbone and 7200's on the edge. My question is that when I look at the feature navigator the 7600 with Sup 720 is missing a lot of basic features required to be a core router of an MPLS Backbone. Features like Traffic engineering fast reroute, MPLS enabled Netflow are missing on this platform, is this platform not a good candidate to be a Backbone router for a service provider offering MPLS services??? 7500 on the other hand it seems 7500 seems to have support for the MPLS related features.

Question: is can I some how use VRF+BGP but disable TCAM MPLS table usage, and label generation  for my platform?
    Cisco say
    Ipv4 routes ---1 TCAM entry
    ipv4 routes(vpn/vrf) -- 1 TCAM entry
    ipv4 multicast -- 2 TCAM entry
    ipv6 (anycast/unicast) -- 2 TCAM entry
MPLS labels --  1 TCAM entry
But look like BGP+VRF =2 TCAM entry.
Is there any workaround to use 1 TCAM entry for one route in VRF from BGP for 6500?
    Thank you for answer!

Hello! thanks for the tips. I found on the same forum an interesting solution of the problem.

Who can tell how stable this feature  and whether it will be realised?
Today I decided to use two technologies that have already passed the test of time.

  • Installing Second Geforce 7300 GT for SLI in Windows

I currently have one Geforce 7300 GT installed on PCI Slot 1. PCI Slot 2 has a big gap from Slot 1. If I install a second 7300 GT (of the same make):
    1) do I need the sli connector/bridge to have both cards recognized in xp pro via boot camp? i know os x doesnt support sli.
    2) does the second card need to go to slot 1? if so, can I use any sli bridge if needed, like the 'asus flex' ?
    3) apparently the mac pro can be configured to four 7300 gts, all in sli...with that being said, how would the sli bridges work given the slot configuration the mac pro motherboard, AND the placement of the sli connector on the video card itself? Looking at the slizone.com the bridges between the cards connect them first to third, second to fourth. Heres a link: http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_quadsli.html With that being said, do i need to look out for anything when purchasing the exact same 7300 GT for my Mac Pro? Will everything work just fine without the bridge or with, given the proper length to connect the two cards?
I'm mainly interested in doing this to overclock both cards via coolbits in the control panel on windows for gaming, currently i can get the 7300 gt to overclock to nearly 500mhz core clock and a little 900mhz memory clock. This is a huge leap over 350/400mhz stock although it produces up to 75 degrees celc. heat.
    Thanks!

Whichever other slot you put the second 7300 in, you'll liekly have to reconfigure the slot speeds in Expansion Slot Manager, in Hard Drive - System - Library - Core Services - Expansion Manager (on the Mac Pro).
The menu will look like this:
    http://www.blackmagic-design.com/downloads/supportimages/Expansion_SlotUtility.jpg
It will give you choices as to how to configure your slot 'speeds', or however it's called. With the extra 7300, slot 4 might be the best place to install, and luckily, the 7300 is a single space card, unlike the larger ATI (which is why the fist/bottom slot is 'double-height'). This way, you can keep your original 7300 in slot 1 @ 16x, then configure your second card as 8x, or have both cards running at 8x, depending on what kind of performance you're lookign for.

  • Looking for MPLS Guru

    Folks,
I need some real world advice on choosing the right hardware for MPLS backbone. Presently we have 7600's, 7500's and 7200 vxr's and we want to build a MPLS backbone. My question is that is it advisable to choose 7500 and 7600(sup 720) as the core of the MPLS backbone and the 7200 stays at the edge.
My understanding is that 7500 has been end of lifed and the 7600 is more of an edge router that does not support advanced features of MPLS. Could I use any of these routers at the edge and use 7200 vxr's at the core???
Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

Being the geek that I am, I would say 7600s with Sup-720 3BXLs. When you are trying to choose an edge router, look at how many terminations, types of terminations, amount of traffic and peers, etc. If you are going to do heavy optical terminations, or a large number of peers (transit and Internet) I would use the 7600s. If you just need a stepping stone, the 7206VXR is a good router with the NPE-G1 engine. Also, the NPE-G2 engine is supposed to be released soon. This essentially doubles what the G1 can do. Hope this helps.

  • Please share the mibs that support to MPLS-TE LSP attributes feature

I am not able to find the mibs provided by the 12.0(26)s and 12.4T releases to support the  MPLS-TE LSP attributes feature
Please share  mibs for this feature.

    Hi
    this link could help :
    http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?local=en&translate=Translate&objectInput=1.3.6.1.3.95
More generally, those 2 link are useful for SNMP:

  • VPLS support for SIP-600 and 10GE-SPA

    Hello all,
    is SIP-600 (7600-SIP-600) with Cisco 1-port 10GE SPA V2 (SPA-1X10GE-L-V2) support VPLS ?
i see in datasheet SIP-600 support for VPLS but in 10GESPA datasheet there is no VPLS features support
    Thanks
    Regards,

    Hello,
    Yes, it should.
You could check Table 4-9 VPLS Feature Compatibility by SIP and SPA Combination:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/shared_port_adapters/configuration/7600series/76cfgsip.html#wp1270728
There are some restricition about H-VPLS on c7600/SIP, like it could be seen at the "VPLS Configuration Guidelines"
section of above link. But they are generic for SIP-600 itself:
    – H-VPLS with Q-in-Q edge—Requires a Cisco 7600 SIP-600 in the uplink, and any LAN port or Cisco 7600 SIP-600 on the downlink.
    - H-VPLS with MPLS edge requires either an OSM module, Cisco 7600 SIP-600, or Cisco 7600 SIP-400 in both the downlink (facing UPE) and uplink (MPLS core).
As for SPAs - restriction is about H-VPLS and FastEthernet one:
"Note: H-VPLS is not available on Fast Ethernet SPAs"
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/shared_port_adapters/configuration/7600series/76cfgeth.html#wp1196808
    Thanks,
    Sergey
