7310 FC Target and duplicate disk in windows 2003

As subject
I've created a new FC initiator for a new server that must access to a single lun on my 7310.
In disk managment i see the same lun 2 times (i see two disk)
If i format one of the disks the other remains unformatted
how cai i solve the problem?

Weird!!! I have the exact same problem, and I have the exact same Sun SAN and same IBM SAN that I'm moving away from (DS4300).
Has anyone found a suitable solution? I'm pulling my hair out. Everything I read about MPIO has to do with Windows 2008, but nothing for 2003. I find drivers for various StorageTek subsystems, but nothing that says "Openstorage 7310". I have tried several MPIO drivers, sometimes I even see the drive 4 times (all possible paths to LUN, due to 2 fabrics).

Has anyone managed to get a 3TB dynamic disk on Windows 2003 Server?

I just got a pair of new 3TB disks that I wanted to put on my Windows 2003 server enterprise x64 system, SP2, all updates installed.
When I first tried to convert to dynamic, I got the error "The operation did not complete" as described in this KB article

It says there is a patch, but there is not one for x64, just x86 and ia64

However its best suggestion is to use a product from AOMIE, but I tried that and it didn't even recognize the disk. It also suggests that one needs a better version of diskpart.exe and to try to the 32 bit version. Anyone have any experience

I also tried creating moving the disk to Windows 7 x64, making it dynamic there, but when I move the disk back to 2K3 it does not recognize it, and goes back to a 2TB partition. I also saw something about needing a 512 block size for 2K3, but W7 does
not allow anything smaller than 1K.

So I contact the author about this issue. He said it could be caused if your hard disk is a 512e drive as the 3TB drives on the market today are normally 512e drives.
However manufacturers stopping identifying this, and if the controller is old, FSUtil will not able to identify a 512 drive but recognized it as a normal 512n drive.
Thus please provide the drive model so we could search on manufacturer's website for exact information.
Also please paste the screenshot in your reply which Satish mentioned if available.

Tiger Disk Utility filled up target AND system disk, CANNOT reboot!

I used Apple Disk utility to securely erase free space on a target drive on my laptop. Disk Utility filled both my target disk and system disk (system disk was not even specified in the erase procedure). Both disks have ZERO bytes free. The System disk will NOT startup and I cannot use DiskWarrior to rebuild the directory cuz there is no space. Tried using terminal to rm temp files, but it did not see the system disk.
*Problem Path:*
1) Laptop (Leopard OS X current version) video stopped working. Likely known problem with Graphics card.
2) Connected G5 (Tiger) to Laptop via Firewire with Laptop working in Target Disk mode (data only mode).
3) Laptop disk showed up as a disk volume on G5.
4) Used Apple disk utility on Tiger G5 to securely erase FREE disk space on Laptop disk drive B4 taking it in to get repairs. Amount to be securely erased was appr 65 to 70 GB.
5) Left G5 Tiger disk utility to work overnight... had to interrupt next day. Restarted..
6) Next day, the G5 disk utility said that it would be an est. 97 hours to complete. Stopped process.
7) Both target disk and system disk showed that 0 bytes (yes, ZERO bytes free) were free on either drive.
8) Attempted to restart with literature saying that you can restart Disk Utility as though it would delete temp files and start again. System could not be found (folder/face/folder/face showed on the screen)
*Attempted Solution:* (DW ~ DiskWarrior 4)
1) Started system up using DW CD. System disk came up as unknown.
2) Used Disk Warrior to rebuild directory on disk, but I believe that there is NO space at all. Disk Warrior took a very long time...more than an hour.
3) Terminated DW (it was still verifying directory)
4) Restarted system from Tiger install.
5) Attempted to use Tiger Disk Utility to verify system disk (System still can see it, but won't mount it-- name is now disk1s3 or something like that). Disk Utility said that disk directory had problems and needed to be repaired. Ran the repair, but Disk Utility said that it could not be repaired.
6) Quit Disk Utility and entered into the terminal to see if I could access the disk through unix commands. Access volumes from root. Only the other disk on the system showed up, not the system disk. So attempt to delete temporary files that MAY have been created by Disk Utility could not be done.
7) Restarted system using DW. Drive showed up as Unknown. Clicked on [Apple key] rebuild to do scavenge function. Left it for two hours. Little to no change. Left it to work all night.
HELP!
Will DiskWarrior use other volume on system or memory to save off or rebuild directory of bad drive? Anyone know of a utility that can help?
ANY HELP you can provide would be GREATLY appreciated. I have been put behind on research in my graduate studies and am in a terrible situation in now BOTH of my systems are inaccessible.

You really shouldn't use a lower OSes DU to work on a higher one.

Oracle application sever 10g on 32bit and 64 bit platform windows 2003

can any body please let me know the performance issues, differences between 32bit and 64bit of oracle application sever 10g? I heard there were some differences... where can i find the information try to look in oracle site not much help...

May be possible but it is probably not tested by Oracle nor is it supported as error correction support for OAS 10g has finished more than a year ago.

Make sure that you always use a 32-bit emulated shell (linux32 bash).

Oracle 9i - Unable to set /PAE and /3GB Switch in Windows 2003 Server SP2

I was wondering if anyone had any experience on Windows 2003 Server (SP2) with setting /PAE and /3GB switches.
I am unable to set both together, setting one or the other works fine in the boot.ini.
Oracle seem to think you can set both but it causes my OS to crash/become unstable.
Has anyone set both switches together on 32 bit Windows 2003 Server successfully?
I am using Oracle 9.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition.

The server is new. But we installed 10g before 11g was available. Then upgraded to 11g, so it is a little mess. What the oracle installer should have done in a fresh install, it is maybe not what the server has now.
I have checked for memory issues, processor issues, http errors, every EM setting and metric, and everything looks just right, but the applications are slow and the users are upset.
Anyway, thanks for the advice. Maybe we will need to re-install everything or go back to 10g on Windows 2003 Server x32. That configuration was working fine before rushing into 11g.

EM12c and GC11g Agent for Windows 2003 R2 64 bit

Hello Everyone,
I have setup a GC 11g on Oracle Linux 64 bit to monitor the servers in the data center.
The problem is, I'm having difficulties installing an agent in Windows 2003 R2 64 bit.
Few months ago when I checked the certification matrix for GC 11g Agent, I saw that it didn't support Windows 2003 R2 64 bit platform.
Apparently, now I cannot choose 11.1.0.1.0 in the certification matrix anymore and have left with 12.1.0.1.0 and 12.1.0.2.0.
However, even the 12c also doesn't put Windows 2003 R2 64 bit platform in the list of supported OS platform.
The strange thing is Windows 2003 R2 32 bit is supported.
So, my questions are:
1. Is there any of you who was successful in implementing the EM12c or GC11g agent on Windows 2003 R2 64 bit?
2. If you are successful, did you experiencing any problem after the installation and during the installation phase?
3. Can I use 10.2.0.5.0 agent which is supported to be installed on Windows 2003 R2 64 bit and managed by either GC11g or EM12c?

Windows 2003 R2 is not supported.
The only supported platforms are :
XP,Vista,7,2008 R2,2008,2003
Even 10.2.0.5 agent is not supported.

i have a simple question,
since we pass to 64-bit window 2003 our cluster (32-bit before). The disk manager service under window stop after 3 to 4 days. At this moment, Oracle stop (ASM do not have any more disk to access).
Some time the server reboot with out reason.
Did someone had this problem with 11g cluster under window 2003 64-bit.

Is there anyway to take a windows 7 computer that the user is completely setup and configured and connect to a windows 2003 server

I have spent hours setting up a windows 7 computer with programs cad files and other software and I would like to log in to a windows 2003 server
without having to start over. Is there anyway to do that without losing anything?

Hello, I can't believe your the only one that answered my question.
What I have is 7 pc's that I bought in 2007 they are "HP M9077C" I am trying to
upgrade all of them the same way. I upgraded the memory to 8gb, replaced the
video cards to nvidia quadro k600 and installed windows 7 ultimate on all of them.
I then took just 1 of the computers and installed all of the software and changed the
settings to my preference which took hours to do. After I had the 1 computer
configured exactly the way that I wanted it I made a mirror image backup of it.
I then took that backup and restored it on the rest of the 6 computers that I have.
Now here comes the problem I need to be able to hook up the computers to my
windows 2003 small business server. When my IT guy did that he said that he had
to create a different user to connect to the file server when he did that my desktop
was empty and all of the settings are on the original user. Is there anyway to keep
the settings from the original user and connect to the file server so I don't have to
spend hours on each one of the computers. If there is a way to copy the original
user's settings that would be great. I also need to change the user name on each
computer. Please let me know.

10gR2 RAC, more 10gR2 RAC, DataGuard and Grid Control on Windows 2003

I have never used GC to implement DG between two different RAC installations, so if i could just a few questions to the experts.
1) It seems that the Grid Control GUI of the DG broker cannot created a RAC instance for physical/logical standby. You have to use the third option from the wizzard, the one about the previously created standby database.
Can i hope that as long as i create the RAC standby i will still be able to work with GC?
2) Currently, when i try to create a physical standby from my primary RAC instance, i get a Java exception when i try to perform the backup and message like "Index: 3, Size: 3". doesnt really help... Does anybody know what this means?
3) Once i have the whole solution implemented, will the two clusters require the presence of the Grid Control machine to "talk to each other"? Ie what will happen if i shutdown the Grid Control machine?

well i skipped Grid Control all together and went for an all command-line approach and ... it works! Maybe i shall setup GC now to see graphically what i did, but i found more confidence working the traditional way, both for creating the standby backup with RMAN and starting up the initial standby instance, registering it with the clustered ASM and adding more stby instances with srvctl as i needed.
I found a great ally in all the documents listed in the MAA section of oracle.com
and i could only suggest them (at least until 10.2 version of GC comes out)

Calendar Connector and Windows 2003 Server

I'm trying to get the connector setup and functioning on a windows 2003 server box with outlook 2003, however the install process generates several failures, and never is able to completely finish. Everything goes fine, until it gets to the point of copying files, at which point I recieve a warning about the uninstaller not functioning properly, so I will be unable to uninstall the application, then the installer generates an application error as soon as it finishes copying files. JRockit and Windows 2003 x64

Hi! We are planning to switch to Windows 2003 Server x64 based on EMT64 technology. We are currently running Platform 8.1 products. As I can see there's only a 32 bit version of JRockit available for 1.4.2_x jdk. For java 5 and 6 a special EMT64 version is available (when going to downloads). My questions are:
* Will an EMT64 version be available for 1.4.2.x (8.1 product range)?
* How much heap can the 32 bit version allocate on Windows x64 (EMT64)?

2 JVMs pr. machine with approx. 2.5-3.5 GB HEAP each
BEA Platform 8.1 SP6
The servers will primarily execute web service calls (jws type). Also some WLI processes will run here.
We have noticed that web service processing (parsing) constructs a lot of objects.
And now to my question:
Are there any JVM settings you would recommend or is out-of-the-box settings sufficient? Specifically in a scenario where a lot of object creation occurs.

OBIEE 11.1.1.5 on windows 2003/2008-64 bit &certification matrix confusion

Dear Friends,
Please let me know that whether OBIEE 11.1.1.5 can be installed on windows 2003/2008 (64 bit) servers?
The reason is I could see 11.1.1.5 downloads for Windows/ Linux/solaris ...
But in the certificatiomn matrix (excel file - bi-11gr1certmatrix-166168.xls) when I look for 11.1.1.5+ i could see the supported platforms are solaris,HP-unix and Exa logic
but for 11.1.1.3+ i could see the supported platforms are windows/linux/solaris/HP-unix....
Same thing for supported browsers
11.1.1.3+ supports IE,Firefox whereas
11.1.1.5+ supports only safari
I really what to know where does the OBIEE 11.1.1.5 version fits in
11.1.1.3+
(or)
11.1.1.5+
which one i have to consider?

Hi,
OBI 11.1.1.5 is certified for Windows 2003/2008 64bit. The + (plus sign) must be interpreted as 'and above'. So Windows 2003 64 bit is certified for 11.1.1.3 and above (like 11.1.1.5).
With the release of 11.1.1.5 additional platforms are certified (like Solaris), those are listed as from 11.1.1.5 and above.

Error in Netweaver installation with MaxDB on a 64-bit IA windows 2003

I am installing Netweaver CE 7.1 in Windows 2003. Out of the 35 phases , i am getting an error in the 13th phase. The name of the Phase is " Create Database Instance" . An error log is created and the details are as below :

I feel that this error has something to do with the settings in the MaxDB database. Can you please help which setting needs to be changed ? Both the Netweaver and the MaxDB are on the same 64-bit Itanium server and the OS is Windows 2003.

Check your max db database build, [https://service.sap.com/pam] and apply a patch if available. Also, you may want to log a problem on SMP.

Patch for 10.1.0.4 on window 2003

I notice there is a patch available for oracle database 10.1.0.4,which is my current database version and the server is window 2003. (patch number 5695771 )
The README document said that it will fix the following bugs:

5694717 - EFFORT REPRESENTATIVE BUG FOR 10.1.0.4 FOR CPUJAN2007
4402255 - SPECIFIC QUERY VIA DB-LINK IN DAILY BATCH JOB HANG
I can't find any information about this ' EFFORT REPRESENTATIVE BUG ' in metlink, and I know we are not using any db link to run batch job...
Can any one tell me that if I just assume that is patch is irrelevant to my situation and do not apply it, will there be any potential danger? or what's other benefit if I apply it?

5695771 is the January 2007 Critical Patch Update (CPU). Oracle strongly recommends the application of the CPU patches. You can raise an SR on Metalink to find more information about the items in the CPU.

Just 1 thing for 9i
you need to install 9.2.0.3 patchset or greater for Oracle 9i on Win2K3.
any versions number lower than that it's not certified on Win2K3.
