7410 wont accept WPA2 password

Officejet 7410 wireless configuration is asking for WEP key.  My router uses WPA2 security.  How do I get the printer to accept the passkey?

Hi,
The Officejet 7410 is more limeted as an older printer.
If support WEP or WPA1 security authentication, WPA2 is not supported by the printer.
You may find that information listed on page 16 of its networking guide below:

    Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security, (including anti-phishing and redirects) (Full information about Open DNS is here: http://www.opendns.com/home/nobloat ) and further independent information can be read here:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57338784-263/free-dnscrypt-tool-enhances-ma c-web-security/?tag=mncol;txt
    and here:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1146064/troubleshootdns.html?t=234
    Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    (You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
    Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Wireless printer wont accept my password...help!

    I have am iMac OS 10.5.8. I have an Airport Extreme. My connection to the internet is via cable ..erethenet. My husband's computer is wireless and he connects via the Airport Extreme. It works fine for him and it works fine for our laptop.
    I recently bought a HP Photosmart eStation C510a which is a wireless printer. The printer is connected to my computer via usb cord. I spent 3 hrs with HP tech trying to resolve why the printer wouldn't accept the password for the airport wireless connection. He finally said it was probably a bad zeen (which is like a small detachable computer on the printer). I exchanged the printer. Now I am in the same situation.
    When I try to set up the printer, I get to part about entering the password and it won't accept it. I know its right. I went to keychain and checked it out for sure and it is correct.
    My Airport Extreme is at least several years old and I haven't done any updates. Should I and which ones. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    I have spent hours on this and am at my wits end. i will be the first to say that I am not very savvy the ends and outs of this sort of thing.

    Hi...I called HP again today. They gave me a list to go over with Apple. They are 1. Look for fireware updates. (I was so rattled when I first posted that I didn't realize that updates were on automatic) and all are updated.  2. OPen port 9100tcpudp 3. Change encryption to WPA 128 bit and 4. Allow printer through any firewall (firewall is not turned on.
    The AirPorts do have firmware updates over time and they may include updates to the AirPort's NAT firewall, but there are no specific updates just for the AirPort's firewall so item #1 would be a bit meaningless.
    However, when a wireless printer is connected to the AirPort, all communications do NOT go through the router's firewall as all of these communications are on the local network. Only if you were trying to access this printer from the Internet will these same communications be required to go through the firewall.
    For item #2, again this would only be of interest if you were trying to access the printer from the Internet. It would serve no purpose when accessing it from the local network.
    For item #3, I would be concerned that this printer does not support either WPA or WPA2 for wireless encryption. Their recommending that you switch to the basically outdated & unsecure WEP security would not be something I would agree with and would recommend against.
    Finally, for item #4, this may apply to a software firewall used on most computers. Just like the router, OS X & Windows operating systems provide a software version of a firewall on the computer itself. Most are enabled by default and it may be possible that the reason you are unable to print to this printer is that the communication between the computer and the printer is being blocked by this firewall. For OS X, you enable/disable this software firewall via System Preferences > Security
    So I called Apple tonight and they said my Airport Extreme is obsolete and I needed to buy a new one.
    Unless your AirPort is one of the 802.11b AirPort Base Stations (Graphite or Snow), it shouldn't be considered obsolete and there shouldn't be any reason why this printer is unable to connect to it.
    Just so I am sure which version you have, please look at the following Apple Support article and let me know which one you have.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • BT Broadband wont accept the password
    Hi all, I've just taken delivery of my new BBHH3 router.
    I put in the BT disc supplied but, for some reason, t will not accept the password printed on the back of the hub.
    I have restarted and retried on countless occasions but still no luck.
    It connects to the hub fine via ethernet and the BT Vision box is working fine
    I can connect to BT Wifi fine.
    This is a Lenovo C325 all in one desktop PC with built in wifi...
    Thanks in advance.
    Stick the disk back in the box. You don't need it.
    Be very careful when typing the password. It will be case-sensitive, and watch out for digits that look like letters (and vice-versa).
    Edit: are you entering the correct password?  There's one to get into the Home Hub's settings (which you can do via wired ethernet), and one to connect via WiFi.  If you can find the former, you can log on to the box to check the latter.
  • "Waiting for network services..." forever! Then, wont' accept WEP password!
    Anyone having this issue. One of my two new Apple TV 2s is doing this...was working fine for weeks and then bang!
    I had the same problem. I just wanted to stream content from Netflix for starters, no bothering with iTunes on a PC, but the aTV2 would be stuck "Waiting for network services". Checking my settings and my router reflected a good WiFi connection, DHCP address assigned, etc. Internet radio worked fine, as did photo screen saver from FlickR.
    Attempting to log in to iTunes gave an incorrect password error -- a lamentably bad error since the password was correct.
    No joy on Netflix login.
    No joy on YouTube. Which is puzzling since port 80 is open. (I wonder if the aTV2 is calling home to Apple even if you are just using Netflix or YouTube.)
    All of this is a major annoyance as you have to keep entering your accounts and passwords from scratch over and over with the silly remote control and alphanumeric entry control.
    I suspected AppleTV was trying to connect to its services on the internet on some ports my router firewall was blocking, but there is no discoverable, comprehensive, or accurate Apple documentation to indicate what ports those are. I tried opening TCP:3689 with no improvement.
    As a last try, I opened every outbound port for the aTV2. (That is not going to be acceptable in the long term. We run a tight network security ship here.) It still didn't work. "Waiting for network services...". Hmph! I powered cycled the aTV2. After it rebooted, it works fine with Netflix and Youtube. No "Waiting..."
    It is lamentable that aTV2 setup and/or network test doesn't report what ports it is failing to connect on. Bad bad OOBE Apple! XBOX 360 for example gives much more useful network config assistance.
  • Iweb has locked me out and wont accept reset password
    Have been a mobile me member for a while, still registered.
    Webpage now asks for a username and password.
    Tried everything. Even reset password, but still wont let me in.
    Try this:
    go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
    login with a bogus username and password like "Ying" and "Yang". This clears the caches.
    login with your correct username and password.
    launch iWeb and try again.
    If that fails try the following:
    delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
    go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    Click to view full size
    launch iWeb and try again.
  • New macbook pro wont accept password
    I moved everything over from my i5 MBP to a new i7 via utilities migration assistant. However the new macbook pro wont accept my password, nor will it recognise the other user account passwords. Works fine on the i5.
    In Disc Utilities, change password asks me to select an image, but does not light up "change" when I select user.
    Any ideas?
    Is you new MBP the 2010 model or is it a newer model running Mountain Lion?
    If it's a newer model running ML, you can simply boot into your Recovery partition (hold down the Command and R keys whilst booting) and when you get to the Recovery window, select Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type
    resetpassword
    and hit Return. A small app will open that will allow you to change the password for the user that you select. Then just reboot and use the new password.
    If, indeed, you're running 10.6.4, you'll need the installation disc to use the Reset password utility.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
