745 SiS board + LEADTEK 6600 GT AGP

im looking for new GC, and think about LEADTEK 6600 GT AGP.
http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/winfast_a6600_gttdh_1.html
i hear, that this combo 745 SIS + 6600GT from leadtek have serious problems, can anyone confirm ??? thanks or any suggestions, can help

There was only a problem with it in the older drivers, just take the new drivers and it should work fine.
There would be lots of glitches and artifacts in the older driver version, but they got it fixed.

  • MSI Ultra 745 on-board Sound Card Problem

I have a MSI Ultra 745 MB (ms-6561 is stamped on the board itself) that I bought barebones, no software. I had XP running on it, but had to reload everything a few days ago. Now I cannot get the built-in sound card to work.
It is a RealTek AC97 onboard soundcard. I DL the software from the MSI site, and it seems to install fine. But when you go to the sound controls in CP, it says that no devices are installed.
Device manager shows the software installed with no conflicts.
If I try to reinstall the software again over top itself, about 2/3 of the way thru the install, it wil reboot the whole machine. This has happened several times.
If I remove and then reinstall the audio software, it installs fine with no errors and reboots normally. But still CP shows no sound device installed, and there is no speaker on the systray.
I am lost on this one, especially since it worked fine the first time.

That was my next move.  Like I said, this one baffles me.  I just can't see why it won't work.  I have installed prob 40-50 systems in my day and I have never had this kind of problem.  Thanks for the help anyway.

  • [GeForce 6] 6600 GT AGP Problems

I have been dealing with an issue for the past 2 days with this new card. I switched out a 5900 xt and put this card in. Run AM3 @ 3dm03 would not run AM3 and got really bad pixelation in 3DM03.
First thing i do is go into bios and set my fsb back to normal and then uninstall the drivers then reboot into safe mode and run dc3. I install the 71.84 drivers and still does it.
Repeat process and install 71.89 same thing.
Go into bios and turn fast writes off . Same problem.
Try running it at 4X instead of 8X.
By this time I am thinking maybe it is the little cheap psu that came with the case. I pull it out and stick in a Thermaltake 480watt model w0044 and only hook up mobo vid and hd. Still getting the same problem.
I go and download the 66.72 drivers and try them still nothing.
I then decide to download the newest chipset drivers and try them. Still nothing. I noticed when I installed the newest chipset drivers that it didnt install the gart so I unpack the drivers into a folder and manually update using the gart in the package. Reboot run AM3 just fine and 3dm03 just fine. Problem is Only scored 23000 in AM3 and 3400 in 3dm03. So I go to the drivers menu and instead of saying APG Mode 8X it says PCI x0. Run NVHardpage and made sure everything was checked. Go back into drivers and nowhere is there an option for APG rate. Fire up Riva Tuner and get the same thing. So I proceed to rollback my gart drivers and reboot and it shows all APG settings in the driver menu and in Riva Tuner. Fire up 3DM03 and still have the same problem.
I then pull the card out take hsf off clean thermal compound off and appy some AS Ceramique Replace HSF I noticed it was a little loose for my liking so I pulled bracket off and bent it a little bit so the HSF would make better contact with the core. Still gave me the same problem. I go in an under clock the card to 300/600 run 3DM03 still giving me the same problems.
Only way I get it to work is with the gart driver but then it sets it to PCIx0 and no option for AGPsettings anywhere.
Just for my curiosity I pulled HSF back off to make sure I didn't damage when I bent the bracket. Everything was fine, reapplied some AS Ceramique and put back in.
My thoughts are to RMA it and try another one or RMA and get a refund and maybe go up to the 6800.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and Thanks in advance

first off thanks for the help Deathstalker. Tried the fan idea didnt work. I just got done reinstalling xp. Did a clean install loaded 71.89 drivers still ahd the problem. I went in and turned it to 4x apg and left fw turned on and now it is working flawlessly. Got a 7997 on 3DM03 but only a 52,352 in AM3. Everything is at stock speeds. Must have been a driver conflict or something. I am happy now thou. Thanks again for the help.

  • [nForce] My mobo agp isnt locked, or is it? Is yours too?

my mobo is k7n2 delta2 lsr, one day i wanted 2 try ntune to oc on the fly but turns out it's not compatible.
The interesting fact is that it could stil show my system status such as fsb AND also my agp+pci clock. My agp clock showed 66,88mhz & i'mNOTmistakenly put on THAT setting. Meanwhile the pci sticks with 33mhz. as a i OC'ed @certain higher fsb, it changed to 66,150mhz!! could it be because i set cpu interface to optimized instead aggressive? Sofar i still wouldnt dare touch agggressive cause i had a bad xperience that it couldn't post after many efforts and had to go 2 repair center for months, but those thing happen with older ram. Any ideas?

hey if u want to overclock and get beta game performance upping u CPU isnt gonna help that much, cause u upping the cpu when u up the front side bus, unless its a 500 mHZ  an u make it 2000Mhz which aint gonna happen u jus need NVtweak (formerly CoolBits) 4 your Nvidia Graphics card if u have Nvidia of course im sure u mentioned it maybee Nforce any way point is crank up the graphics card m8 leave da mobo alone, core frequencey and memory speed  u can easily up the AGP Speed an such but u r jus doing unnecesary damage an im sure when u up the FSB everything else comes up wif it PCI,AGP etc so u makn eveything work much harder aye   an u can assume that software is reading correctly jus not all da time i use monitoring software an sum r close an others are miles away it comes down to alot of testing and sum hard ways to test that stuff uself with multimetres an such if its 4 your harware u r getn an average example of what it could be

  • Agp 8x Comp With My Mobo?

Will the MSI FX5200 TD128 8x Agp card work on my MSI Sis 745 Ultra which is only 4x Agp I hope so cause I wanna buy this card with out havin to update the motherboard Possible??? ?(

Ok so as i understand my G4 Ti4200 td64 (AGP 4x, AGP 2,0)will run without problems with a new AGP 8x ( AGP 3.0 ?)mobo?
I've read that it was more complicated. That it was a Pb of voltage.
Are all AGP 4x running on 1.5 or 0.8 V?

  • [6600 GT APG] Low perfomance

I just upgraded my system from geforce FX5200 to a brand new MSI 6600 GT AGP.
But the problem is that i don't notice any changes in any games for an example HL2 (FX5200 = 25 fps and 6600 GT = 25-30 fps).
I have installed the card properly and the drivers.
At first I got my some graphic glitches because I got a SIS based motherboard. But after I installed the new drivers found on the homepage there was no problem anylonger but the perfomance didn't inqrease in any games.
I have updated all my drivers and tried exactly everything.
    Any solutions???
Another fun thing when I look at MSI information page I noticed that it  stands only 32mb ram when I got a 128mb card and SDRAM when its ddr3.
    Why?????
Plz help me or I'm getting crazy over this.

    I would say no. I have replaced my 450Watt PSU with 12V at 18A with a 550watt where the 12V is 24A.
Last week my card went completely dead. Nothing on the monitor, put it into the second computer, again nothing on the computer. Was going to RMA it.
Then I starting tighing some screws, played with the metal clip on the back, stuck it back in and VOILA it works.
I found the MSI 71.22 by far the best drivers. Beat the Nvidia 66.93 and 67.03 hands down.

  • AGP 8X and Fastwrite with MX440 8X on 648 Max L

    Hi,
    I own the 648 Max L and I have just bought a MSI Geforce4 MX440 8X. I have SiS Agp drivers 1.15 installed and:
    1. AGP 8X does not work although I can "enable" it
    2. It says that the board does not support AGP Fastwrite but the graphic card does.
Can I please have some feedback on these issues thank you.
    Razvan

I take it you're seeing this with the AGPUtil?  I have found the same results with my mobo, but (and this is a but) I think it's just reading the info wrong.  ATI SmartGart lists AGP 8x and Fastwrites working, while agputil does not.
Also, if you read the info file that came with those drivers (if you got them from MSI), certain motherboards are not compatible with the newer AGP drivers, and thus use v1.12.  I've been looking for the AGPUtil that came with that version to double check, but haven't been able to find it.
[Edited] Maybe someone who has either of the two boards with the newest AGP drivers can offer their results as well...

  • [GeForce 6] Energy warning by nvidia on MSI gf 6600 gt

Hi, i have a big warning by nvidia saying that the clock of my video card has been automaticly lowered (underclocked) because the card doesnt get enought energy (this only occur under full load). My power suply was 400 watts, i Changed it for a 500 watts power suplly. Had no problem afet i change it. One week later y sold the card to a friend. the warning apeared once in windows, not enven in full load.
My question is: Does this really means that the card doesnt get enought energy or could be something else?
the card is a MSI gefore 6600 gt agp 8x 128 mb vivo
    sorry for my english.
none of the pc are overclocked.
My Pc: athlon xp 2400 (core B), 768 mb ram (ddr 400), MSI kt4 ultra, Powe suplly 400 then 500, Seagate barracuda80 gb serial ata, cd rom, dvd rw, 3 case fans
His Pc: Athlon xp 3200 (Barton), 1 Gb ram (333), 450W power suplly, cdrom, dvd rom, cdrw (independant), Msi kt6, hard drive (dont know witch one), 3 case fans.
    Big thanks
    Puco

Hi, his PC needs more power than yours, and also could you please look at the stick in th PSU and post here how much amps do they have (yours and his), it should be like this: 12v 18a, 5v 30a and so on. And again he has a more powerful PC and ot means that it needs more power.
Off topic: It happened to me the same two days ago, I was starting to play Far Cry, and the big warning came out, also I noticed that my VGA Fan stopped running after that. I gues my PSU cannot support my rig anymore. I have 6 fans connected in my rig, but I tried to add another one, when I connected the others started to run slowly, I could hear that, I did twice for a couple of seconds to see if I was wrong but no way, I can't add more fans (we're having 33 ° C outside... is getting really hot here  ) What do you think guys? I don't want to hijack Puco's thread, it was just a comment, I know, I have to change ASAP my PSU.
    Kind regards

  • KT3 Ultra2 + Heavy AGP usage = crash & beeps on reboot

PROBLEM: (story has 2 very exciting parts)
Part 1: When start using apps with intencive accellerated graphics, the computer gives a blank screen and hangs there forewer. After a while, monitor goes into powersaving mode.
Ex.: After passing the 1st, low-res (truck) test on Sysmark2001 successfully, sysmark happily and consistently hangs on the hi-res (truck) test.
Part 2 (More Interesting part): After the computer goes into blank screen (explained above), I push "reset" button and get:
     - no picture
     - several beeps (8 or 9). It is hard to say how many beeps; they all a short and first one is Very abrupt.
     - The "D-"-whatever lights show code for "Testing RTC (Real Time Clock)"
     - same thing happening no matter how many times I press reset. I have to unplug the computer for a while to make it boot normally.
    SYSTEM INFO:
    MSI KT3 Ultra2 mobo
    Athlon 1800+ CPU
PowerColor Radeon 8500 based 128meg AGP video card.
    No-name manufacturer 256mb PC2100 DDR RAM sticks
    No-name manufacturer 400W PSU
all my other cards were removed for/while troubleshooting.
    THINGS TRIED:
Since the "issue" continues after reboot, I immediately rule out the software problems. (though I did reinstall windows and tried other/newer chipset and video drivers for the heck of it)
    - used 1 other memory chip (different brand) (no help)
    - Used the Video card and memory in other computers (work fine)
    - used other mobo (asus A7V133) and parts with the case and PSU (works fine)
    - updated bios (no help)
    - changed AGP Driving vale, AGP speed (1x,2x,4x), memory timing, disabling/enambling anything possible in BIOS. (none helped)
    THINGS DID NOT TRY:
(I do not have unlimited budget, you know..)
    - Another brand of accellerated video card (what is the point? I like my Radeon8500-128mb and it works with other boards. If KT3 is incompatible, screw KT3)
    - Did not try another PSU (Do not have any better than the one I have.) If it is a problem, I do not mind buying a new one. But, is IT the problem?
    - What else did I not try? You tell me.
    WHAT I SUSPECT:
    - Motherboard has electrical problems, or
    - My PSU may be underpowered (but why the problem continues during the low-power bootup?)

Thenk you guys for such a prompt response
    Let me address your questions/comments
    > (maesus) Did you try - Load BIOS Setup Default
    Yeah, I tried that.
    > (maesus) do not overclock, everything goes default
I am a heat, noise and temperature control freak. I never overclock. I am more likely to underclock than overclock. Incidentally, I did try to underclock the FSB and memory to 100Mhz in order to see if the problem goes away. - It does not go away.
    > (maesus) Update VIA 4-in-1 drivers to 4.43v and ATI Catalyst to 2.3
I tried Via 4-in-1 v 4.43, 4.41. I tried Catalyst 2.3 and 2.2. As for trying older drivers, my philosophy is the following: If the board makes me downgrade drivers and features in order to be functional, I get rid of the board, not the features. Downgrading Via 4-in-1 does not make much of a difference. Downgrading Catalyst further brings performance and features down significantly enough.
    > (maesus) My suggestion to the AGP Driving signals is EA.
Thanks for the suggested value. It is so hard to find things like this. I looked all over the net and PowerColor groups to find values that work, and found none that match my system. I did try this value, though. I keep a list of values that usually work for me, and EA is one of them. Nothing from my list worked.
As a side-note, setting AGP to bellow 4x usually makes Driving Value setting irrelevant. On my previous boards, I would set AGP to 2x and Driv Value to Auto - the board would usually work OK. With KT3 though, The problem consistently happens even at AGP 1x.
    > (maesus) Please try another more powerful PSU, borrow first before you buy
I will try this later in the week.
    > (hjongste) You may need to clear CMOS first. Sometimes there is more to it than just shorting the jumpers. Read my page on this.
That is a neat site you have! I will try your suggestion later in the week. Right now the board is back in the box.

  • PowerNow with MSI 745 Ultra and Athlon XP2600-M

Hi, i have a MSI 745 Ultra board with a XP2600-M barton processor.
Has anybody got the powernow feature to work? I have tried and i just cannot do it. Also if i want top maually set the cpu core voltage in the bios it will not go to 1.45v!
I have the latest bios, drivers and xp pro with SP2
    Cheers

Hi, thanks for the quick responses
The CPU (although a barton core) is a native native FSB 266. AXMG2600FQQ4C
i got the processor because it runs at 45W - and i wanted a low current system for bittorrent and usenet downloads. the cpu is in the epox board at the mo as it allows a 1.45v core in the bios.
i got the MSI board off ebay for a staggering 99p (bargain as its a really good board), and the processor works fine on it. I cannot remember exacety how low i can set the cpu core voltage in the bios as the cpu is back in the epox board but im sure it bottomed out at 1.5v
The latest bios i installed in the MSI board said it supported the 2600+ but the powernow just did not work.
i may get an old mobile processor like an 1800+ and see if it works with that
    Cheers

  • AGP cards not working

Hi.. and hope someone can help me with this.
I’ve read about a lot of info about problems with AGP ports on MSI boards but still cannot get a clue about my particular problem.
    My specs:
    AMD XP 2.400
    MBO:MSI KT4V (MS-6712 ver 10A)
    RAM: 256MB
    Case: 400W
    OS: Win2K SP3
My problem: Cannot use video cards in the AGP port. System still can boot and go into safe mode, but in normal mode Windows can barely make it after the logon screen. The system suddenly goes to a kind of standby mode (power button does not work), all energy activity seems to stop (fans too), and I have to unplug and plug the energy cord to be able boot again.
    My tries:
    1) Using a PCI video cards has no problem. Works perfect.
    2) I’ve used 2 different AGP cards, booth with exactly the same problem: PCChips ATI 9200LE 8x and Nvidia MX440 8x. Suppose I can asume the cards are not the problem. They are new ones.
    3) Used MSI Live Update 3 to update BIOS. It was succesfully updated, but problem remains.
    4) Used MSI Live Update 3 to update Board drivers (even the AGP one). It was succesfully updated, but problem remains.
    5) Modify some BIOS parameters like Fastwrite to Disable, AGP voltage to 1.7, but problem remains.
    Thanks on any advice.

You mean I suppose not the voltage, but the ampères? And sorry, been at birthday party so I couldn't give immediate respons. The troubleshooting guide suggests these:
    3.3V - 28A or better
    5V - 30A or better
    12V - 18A or better
And perhaps you can learn from this nice guide, below. Good luck!
"don't worry about agp 8x - i does not offer any significant speed increase. what you are describing seems to me to be related to the ati video card (that's what is experiencing the vpu error). steps 4 through 7 below might be all you need to do. give it a try.
start with flashing the latest mobo bios before you start if you haven't allready. I recommend stick with the 3.7 Cat driver (many people are reporting worse problems with the later rev Cat drivers) and follow these directions:
    1) download and install the latest via driver (i know, you have it)
    2) download and install latest soundblaster driver (if you are using a soundblaster audio card of course)
    3) download and install catalyst 3.7 driver/control panel/samartgart from ati.
    4) disable fast-write in bios (this was causing corrupted icons and cursor in windoze).
    5) start-run and type in smartgart then enter
    6) enable - pci read/write and agp read (probably allready is enabled).
    7) disable - agp write (default in my case was on causing lots of stability problems in games).
    "apply", reboot, then "ok".
