7520 All In One not scanning from computer

I have a 7520 all in one printer.  I can scan from the printer to my  computer with no problems, I can print from my computer with no  problems.  I have always been able to control scanning from my computer when I put a picture on the printer without any issues.   The HP Photosmart icon on my desktop is there but I cannot open it.  I've tried opening it from the Start Menu and I still can't open it.  Now I've tried going to the HP Solutions Center and when I click on that it says it cannot run b/c installation is not complete.  (I've had this printer for a almost a year and this just happened out of the blue.)
I uninstalled the printer then reinstalled it again.  I unplugged my printer and my wireless router and retstarted both, all to no avail.  My software is updated and I've run Scan Doctor and everything is in working order.
I simply cannot open HP Photosmart from my computer.

Hi @FinnGirl47,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you cannot scan from the computer with your HP Photosmart 7520, and I am happy to help!
For further assistance, I will need to know: If you are using a Windows or Mac Operating System, and the version number. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos, also if the printer is able to make copies.
In the meantime, please try going through this scanning guide, A 'No Computer Detected' or 'Connection Error' Message Displays during Scanning.
Thank you for posting!

  • Can't get HP 8620 all-in-one to scan to computer. Advice?

    I just bought a new printer/scanner/fax - HP 8620 all-in-one.
I have Mac OSX 10.9.3 and the most up to date drivers/software from the HP website (april 2014).  I have connected the printer via ethernet cable to our wireless router.
I have installed as per intructions.  When I go to HP utilities, I have been able to set up "scan to email" but not "scan to computer". Keeps saying that "scan to computer" software is not available and that I need to go to hp support website to download the latest version (which I already have).
Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling - no help.
    Any advice?

You can't use the scan button on the printer. You have to start the scan from OS X.

  • OfficeJet J4550 All-In-One not scanning or copying; only prints from certain sites

I have a HP Pavillion Slimline 400 and my will not scan or copy, and only prints from certain sites.  I have uninstalled and installed the software driver numerous times and still get a "scanner not working" message.  I have also unplugged and turned off and replugged in the USB and the power cords several times.  Currently, I have uninstalled the printer software, so I have no recognizable printer on my PC.  Help!!

    Hello bran1288,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with scanning and printing from a select few sites.
I have a few steps that we can try to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
As for printing from web pages, please make sure that you have your firewall or anti virus settings turned down as well as the Pop-up blocker disabled.  If this does not resolve the issue, maybe try another web browser such as Mozilla fire fox or Google Chrome.
As for the scanning issue,  so I can better assist you, please respond with which Operating System you are running:
Which Windows Operating System am I running?
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Please write me back when you have time and I will be happy to help.
    Cheers,

  • Photosmart all in one - not scanning to PDF

Our photosmart premium all in one fax, scanner printer no longer scans to PDF files.
It prints ok and we can scan to photo directly from the scanner to USB and from / to the PC.
It worked perfectly well before, then started to stop several pages into a multipage scan. Then halfway through 1st page - now won't scan at al to PDF.
Any ideas?   We have uninstalled and re-installed several times - no success.

Hello ZiggyCat, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking a few HP Support documents below that will show you how to find which operating system you are using. Also, if you're using Windows, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. With this information we can provide you with accurate information.
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Also, do you experiencing any issues copying?
Good luck and please let me know the results of your findings. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2545 all in one not "scanning" properly

I just received my printer today - HP Deskjet Ink advantage 2545. I was so psyched to use the scanner, and when I finally did, I learned that this printer/ scanneer doesn't really scan docs or pictures properly - parts of the scanned docs are covered in black (see sample below). I tried several times, even cleaned the glass (even if it's new, fresh out of the box) but the same thing keeps on happening. Is this printer defective? should I return it to?

    Hi @VitoCLN,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  I see your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2545 is not scanning properly, I appreciate the screenshot.
I would like you to perform a Hard Reset on the 2545 and retry the scan:
    1. Unplug all cables and memory cards from the printer. Unplug the power cord, directly from the back of the printer while the printer is still turned on.
    2. Unplug the other end of the cord from the power source.
    3. If there is a power module on the power cord, disconnect one end and reconnect it.
    4. After 60 seconds, plug the cord directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or battery backup as they can cause the printer to lose basic functionality over time).
    5. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
    6. The printer should automatically power back up. If it doesn't, turn it on with the power button.
    7. Try making a photocopy (if your printer is an all-in-on printer) before connecting any other cables to the printer.
    8. Connect any other needed cables to the printer.
Now continue here with Solution One only: Vertical Bands, Lines, or Streaks in Copies, Faxes, or Scans
Were you able to complete the scan successfully?
I hope to hear from you soon.
    Thanks,
    HevnLgh

  • Hp e4515 all in one not scanning

Hi, last time I had an issue with the printer not getting installed after which I followed your steps at forum and contacted the service centre who then promptly replaced my product with another... the replaced one installed without any hiccups and was working seamlessly printing and copying, but the scanning was not working from the beginning. I tried to scan some photographs but it always scanned them half.. now since two days it's not even scanning and just stuck with the screen showing the ring and message " scanning " .. I tried to shut down and restart the device and scan again but everytime it's giving same error... kindly help me out... this is the second printer I've replaced and it surely has put a dent in the faith I had in HP

One more thing I would like to add is that it gives the same error when I tried to make a copy.. factory reset didn't help neither printing alignment page succeeded to scan...

  • Why is Epson RX500 all-in-one not scanning in 10.6?

When I upgraded to new iMac with 10.6 from older G5 with tiger, the USB RX500 worked just fine for printing and even with the print utility for ink levels and head cleaning utility.  Scanning, however, is another story.
I get it that in 10.6, one now selects "import from scanner" with Preview.  The system shows the RX500 is available and I select it.  Then I click the start button in the Print/Scan Utility window which comes up.  When I do this, the scanner "wakes up" then immediately stops and an error message appears saying that there was an error scanning and the scanner disconnected.  I need to re-start the Epson unit before it  will see it again in Preview.
I have checked that the Apple software is up to date.  Epson's support page pushes it back to Apple.

My name is Syd and I work for Epson America, Inc.
If you are using Epson Scan and this is where the issue is occurring, please go to www.epson.com/support maneuver to the RX500 printer and download the Epson Scan Uninstaller and the Epson Scan Twain driver.
Uninstall Epson Scan from you system and proceed to reinstall it. If the Epson scan does not work you may need to switch your scanning application to Image Capture. In order to work with Image Capture you will need to download the ICA driver from Apple's Software Updates.

  • Can not scan from computer, but can print

Since a few weeks I'm not able to scan anymore from my computer using HP Scan. I still can print from my computer. It doesn't matter if my computer is connected to my network by Wifi or by wire. My printer is connected to the network by wire.
Scanning wasn't a problem until some weeks ago. I don't know what change caused this situation.
The message that is displayed on the screen of my computer says 'HP LaserJet 200 colorMFP M276nw-AirPrint is is not available ...'. The reference to Airprint puzzles me.
Does anyone recognize this situation and / or has a solution?
    This question was solved.

Thanks for providing the screen shots Gvmdh_Hbl.
It still doesn't look like the full driver is installed for the printer. Your missing the Print and Scan tab on the Printers and Scanners window.
Here is a screen shot of what it should look like.
Repair the Disk Permissions and Reset the the Printing System to see if it helps.
Repair the Disk Permissions on the Mac:
    Close all applications.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, click Applications and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left.
Click Verify and then Repair Disk Permissions.
    Restart the computer..
    Reset the Printing System:
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Click the Apple icon and then click System Preferences.
    Click Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left white side panel, then click Reset printing system.
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system.
Then click the + sign to add the driver, highlight the printer. (you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name) Then click on the Add button.
If you are still having issues, I would uninstall and reinstall the printer software.
    Uninstalling the Printer Software.

    Yes. There are two fixes:
    1 downgrade back to 10.4.
    2 buy a new MFD.
I used to have a PSC1350. Scanning went belly-up on impact with 10.5. HP's site said, in so many words, that scanning with a PSC1350 was not and never would be supported on either Leopard or Vista, and that they recommended replacing the MFD. I did exactly that: with a Brother MFC-440CN. That works, and unlike the HP, it works over a network with Mac and Windows clients without my having to jump through hoops. HP Support is to be congratulated for their new role as Brother USA's main marketing arm.

  • HP3310 Photosmart All-in-one not scanning

I am using OS X 10.9.5 on my Apple Macbook Pro.  Whilst I can print from my laptop, I cannot scan as I used to be able to.
First of all I googled and followed the links to the HP website where I have found lots of articles - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04510394.  Here it seemed to suggest that I had to delete the printer and then readd it.  So I went to the Apple/System Preferences/Printers and scanners, added my printer with the ip address, chose the IPP portico and chose the HOP Photsmart 3300 series.  I then get the message  "Unable to verity the printer on your network -  Unable to connect to ‘192.168.1.73’ due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?"
So I did but then I was only presented with a "Printer and Scanners" window like in step 2 without the scanners tab this time.
I am told that Apple includes the print drivers in its software updates so I cannot download the latest drivers.
I have checked the articles on this site.
Can I no longer use any function of my HP3310 except the print function?
Or can anyone recommend something that I can do to be able to use the scanner again?
Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Thanks for trying to help.
I have tried using Preview and also Image capture applications but neither can see the device,  The Printer is connected to my wireless network.

Hi 3412, Ok, open Add/Remove from Control Panel, and then uninstall everything associated with this printer. Once you have it uninstalled reboot the computer. Download and run the following Utility to assist with getting the printer installed to your computer.
