7525 photo ink

Do I have to use 564 black photo or can I use the standard black cartridge instead. I see some 564 ink printers do not need a black photo cartridge. Can I bypass the photo ink to use standard 564 black.

So there is no work around bypassing the 564 Photo ink cartridge? It seems illogical to me to HAVE to use the photo black cartridge when I'm not printing photos. I just want to make a color copy.

  • Photosmart 7510 not printing photo ink when it should, but using up all the other ink cartridges.

I'm printing photos, mostly black and white, and all my regular cartridges are almost depleted when I thought they were printing from the photo ink cartridge.  I want the photo ink cartridge to be used and it still shows full.  I had to run out and get new cartridges which is becoming expensive.
I have windows 7 and I use the Windows Photo Viewer to print the photos.
I need steps in how to set my printer properties so that the photo ink cartridge is used.
As of now, the way I look at it, it would be less expensive to go to Wal-Mart or a local grocery store and print my photos there.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Photo ink is actually black and under normal printing (including printing photos) it can last 3 times longer than other inks.

  • Unable to print colors with my photo ink hp348 on HP C3180

    Hi,
I've been using HP C3180 for several years now, mostly to print pictures and scan. I have always used original HP ink. Few months ago my scanner stopped working, however it was successfully repaired in the HP service. I dont know if this is related, however since that time I'm unable to print colors with my photo ink 348...
First of all - when I put only the photo ink into the printer, I get the 'e' error message and the 'check color ink' as well as 'copy' buttons are blinking on the device.
When I put the color ink with my photo ink into the device they stop to blink and the 'e error message' dissappears- however the colors are being printed from the color ink, not from the photo one - which makes a huge difference - but Im sure you know that.
I used to print with this printer in the past with only the photo ink inside, and it was printing colorful pictures, and I did not get any error messages, with one ink inside..
Please help me fix this issue
also - I do have the option to print in color ticked - so this is not the case
it looks like the printer does not recognize the photo ink and it treats it as a black ink.....(but I can assure that it is the photo ink)...

    Hi,
Seems like you have issue with the photo ink cartridge. Try to call HP support for potential replacement.
    Hope it helps

  • Why does my photo ink cartridge drain when I'm not printing photos?

I usually use grayscale mode to print out text-only documents and occasionally use the ColorSmart sRGB option for color documents. I have an XL black ink cartridge installed, along with the three color cartridges and a photo cartridge (bow tie). Even with this usage pattern, it seems my photo cartridge needs frequent replacing. Also, I can't print out a text-only document in grayscale when the photo cartidge is low--even if the XL cartridge is new. This doesn't make sense to me. Is there a setting I need to change so my printer draws from the XL cartridge instead of the photo?

Hi, What is your printer ? Grayscale option will use all colors and mix together to make black therefore it uses photo ink (black) more than normal black. If you wish to use black ink only, you need to select Black ink only from Grayscale options (pull down in Set Preferences). Regards.

  • Bypassing need for Black Photo Ink

I am printing basic documents and for the first time my Black Photo Ink is LOW, but my regular Black Ink is FULL.
All of my pages are printing blank.
It must be directing the printer to use the Black Photo Ink first, even though these are just Word and PDF documents.
Please help me fix or understand settings for this?
Working on a MAC (2 years old, not updated to Yosemite yet)
    Thank you!

    Hi @WilliamsA,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that your HP Photosmart 7510 is printing blank pages. I am happy to look into this for you!
I would recommend to take a look through this guide, Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Photosmart 7510 e-All-in.... Also, take a moment to read through this article, Ink Usage in Inkjet Printers.

  • HP photosmart 7510 not using the regular black ink only photo ink.

Hi, the problem thta i am having with my printer is that when i try to print anything in black it only uses the photo ink which has now run out, i have replaced the regular black ink multiple times but it is still trying to use the photo ink and now since it is empty it acts like it is printing but the documents come out blank since the photo ink is empty.
    Thank you
    Kerim

Hi Kerim, sorry to hear that you are having printing issues with the black in cartridge. If I understand correctly, your printer will not print regular black ink. It wants to use the Photo black all the time. I would need to know some information about your computer. Are you using Windows or Mac? Have you attempted to do the Firmware update that is available on the printer? Once I have the operating system or your computer, I can then send you the link with the instructions on how to do the Firmware update.
Please write back at your convenience and I will be happy to help.

  • Photo Ink for 7510

I've never once printed on photo paper.  Always use black draft whenever possible, but for reasons I've never understood the photo cartridge depletes.  I'm at the point where the regular black ink is streaking.  But, the clean heads utility won't work unless I buy yet another black photo cartridge.  I just don't understand this.  I want to print in draft black, and occasionally "best".  Can someone help me out?  Thanks.

Your printer uses separate ink supplies and printhead assembly.  If the printhead is allowed to run dry it may be damaged, resulting in expensive repairs to restore functionality.
Some ink is used to keep the printhead healthy, the document here explains how ink is used in HP (and other manufacturer's) printers.  In the vocabulary of that document your printer is an IIC printer.

  • 564 black ink - printer using photo ink for general printing!

I ran out of regular black ink for my Photosmart C6380 a couple of weeks ago.  Had a full cartridge of photo black, but none was used - pages were very faint gray.  After replacing the empty cartridge with a 564XL, I see that my photo black is now half empty while the regular black ink is full and has not been touched at all!!  Where's the confusion?  How do I make the printer draw from the standard ink cartridge instead of the photo?  It won't work without every cartridge in place.

    Hi Selig,
Thanks for posting you issue on forum,
From what i understand you would like to Print use black ink only instead of photo black.
You have an option under the printer driver which says Black ink only, by selecting that you will not be able to print color. On most cases this should help you use the black cartridge over the photo black.
If you have to print color you might need to change this option,
I dont have the printer over here but the steps are from best of my knowledge.
Go to Control Panel>> Devices and Printers>> Highlight Printer>>Right click on Printer and click Printing Preferences.
Click on Advance>>click on the drop down for Print in Greyscale and select Black Ink only
with newer driver we have this option under Printing Preferences>>Paper/Quality tab and under Quality settings.
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

  • Pixma Pro9000 - over saturation of photo ink.

I have been using this model for some time in my studio for last minute photographs - LOVE it!  It broke, had error message that was unresolvable without sending it in.  So I purchased another of the same printer, used.  After I plugged it in, using same drivers, I ran through the maintenance tasks - they were all acceptable and as expected.  Color good, printed a test sheet - it came out great.  I put in some photo paper, semi-gloss, and printed a color photograph that I have printed before - oh wow!  Way too much green and very wet, over-saturation.  So I tried a black/white photograph - and still oversaturated and green!  So I removed all the ink cartridges (all full!), and replaced with new ones - better, but still over-saturation.  I uninstalled all drivers/software and reinstalled from the Canon website drivers for my Windows 7 (64-bit).  Better, but still over-saturation!  Colors in the wrong places, etc.  I have been without this printer for a few months, and really need help to get this one going again.  I am considering uninstalling it all again, and finding my original disks and doing that installation.  I appreciate any help I can get!  I do like having this particular printer, and the quality it puts out.

Two things come to mind in this situation.  One are you using new Canon brand cartridges?  And are you using Canon brand paper with the correct ICC profile?
If not you must do this first.  After you get everything working correctly, you can try other paper that has a profile for Canon printers.  Red River papers are very good.  Some others are not and will not work.
On cartridges NEVER use off-brand.  Always use genuine Canon from a reputable store.

It is a photo cartridge #99 for Officejet 6310 All -in-One.  Is a humidor the black plastic "holder?"  What about the tape that covers the print head--replace for storage or toss?
Yes, you should use the black plastic holder and store with the nozzles facing down.  Toss the tape once it is removed, if you try to reapply the tape it will cause color misssing (or in the case of the #99 cartridge, black mixing into gray) which will ruin the cartridge.

  • HP Photosmart 7510 will ONLY use photo black ink

I have a photosmart 7510 printer and I'm printing from microsoft word 2010 on a windows 8 computer. I'm printing a word document with no pictures in it. The printer preferences are set to Plain Paper with Normal quality. I cannot get the printer to use the XL black ink cartridge. It only uses the photo black ink. Is there a setting I can choose to get it to use the regular black ink?

    Hi shirsar,
I understand you have a Photosmart 7510 that seems to be using a lot more of the photo black than the regular black ink. I'm sorry to hear this, but believe I can assist you with a solution.
You can set the printer to use black ink only when printing from the PC and that should ensure that it uses that the black ink and not the photo ink. My instructions will be to set it up in the driver so it does it for all programs (if you want it for just the program please let me know and I will advise further). You will want to start with going to your Start screen, and just start typing Devices and Printers and you will want to open that (if that doesn't work type in Control Panel and then proceed to open Devices and Printers). Once Devices and Printers is open, right click on your Photosmart 7510 icon and select Printing Preferences. You will then want to click the Advanced button at the bottom right of the screen. The next page that opens will allow you to set the printer to use Black Ink Only when printing from the PC (please follow the screen shot below for any clarification).
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

  • Stop it from using photo black ink for black text printing and where has the color ink gone?

My HP Photosmart Prem C310 series all in one is using the Black Photo ink cartridge for text printing instead of the XL Black that I put in it for text printing. How can I get it to use the right cartridge for printing? Also, even though I have NOT printed ANY photo's and very few pages of text the new set of color cartridges I put in it a few months ago are almost empty. Why? How could they be almost empty when I have NOT printed anything in color? This is getting ridiculous replacing ink cartridges every few months WHEN I HAVE NOT BEEN PRINTING ANYTHING!!!
The set of ink cartridges that came with it lasted for several months. Since then I've gone through two sets in less than a year. That's 3 sets of ink cartridges when I have only printed 3 photo's when I first set it up. And have only used les than a 1/4 of one package of printing paper. I've only put paper in it twice. Each time it was about a 1/4 inch or 3/8 of an inch thick stack of paper in the tray. I've even tried shutting the printer down when its not being used for a long period of time but the ink is still disapearing. Where is it going? Why is it going there? How do I stop it? This is rediculous. I may as well junk the thing even though it still works because I cant aford to keep feeding it ink when its just sitting there doing nothing most of the time.
    Thank you

I just got another email from HP about this problem wanting to know what I found for a solution to this problem. From all of the suggestions from the HP tec support all of them pretty much kept saying the same thing. That it is my fault that it's using so much ink because I have it on the wrong settings. One tec did slip and say that it doesn't matter what settings you have it on it will always use the Photo Black cartridge for printing plain black text and it doesn't matter if you have a X-Large Black cartridge in it for text printing because it was made to always use the Photo Black for text and even use some of the colors to blend with the black to make it stand out. Why anybody would need this when just printing shipping labels and things like that I don't know.
Any who, The only solution for this problem is,,,, junk the printer and get a different brand & model of printer. Research it before buying to find out how much ink it wants to waste and if it will still print black text if it only has a black cartridge in it. I was going to get rid of mine by giving it to a friend since they don't have a printer. But since I want to keep him as a friend I decided not to give it to him. Since it cant be traded in for a different one even though it still works, Its going to the target shooting range the next time I go out shooting. Maybe I'll take a few video's clips of it getting blasted to pieces with a Ruger 10-22 .22 cal. rifle with 25 shot clips, a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle shooting .223 cal with a 30 shot clip, a Chinese SKS 7.62 with a 30 shot clip. And maybe use my Ruger P89 9mm pistol and put a couple 15 round clips of 9mm in it. If there's anything left I'll finish it off with a few 3" magnum loads of #2 steel shot with my 20 gauge shotgun.  Then I think I'll do the same thing to my Westinghouse 46" flat screen HDTV that just died.
Then maybe I'll come back and post the video's of my "solution to this printers problem". It may not fix the problem, but it will be an entertaining way of getting rid of the problem.

  • Ink pours out all over photo upon printing

I use the B9180 printer. The last time I went to print a photo, ink just poured out and coverd the entire page, completely saturating it. I could not tell exactly which ink cartridge it came out of. All the ink cartridges looked fine. So now I'm wondering if it could be an print head? Does anyone now of this issue and what could be wrong? Thanks.

    Hi there,
Cant load photo black ink cartridge into HP 5520 printer.

    Hi,
The Photo ink cartridge is not intended for the Photosmart 5520, the printer uses Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow ink cartridges as listed below as an example (The same applies for the US with the 564 ink cartridges):
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03340400&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=uk&dlc=en...
As you may find below as an example, the Photo Ink Cartridge only intended for printers which use 5 ink cartridges:
ONLY for 5-cartridge printers which use Black, Photo, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow inks
Does NOT replace Black ink cartridge
