785GM-E65 tRAS alway auto

hmmm can anyone help/tell me why my bios only allows auto on the tRAS setting? currently have this ram Gskill F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL 1600 9-9-9-24-33, when I try setting it to 24 in AOD, it always reverts back to 29... is it cause I am running it at 1600mhz?but I only followed the timings on the ram..

1600MHz is OC
You can get tighter timings at lower memory frequency
But i fail to see why you want to set tRAS to 24,
lesser tRAS value doesn't means that will be run fastern...
Also adjusting tRAS will makes 0 difference in performance.
Best leave them to Auto.

  • MOVED: Sos Voltage Settings on MSI 785GM-E65 Help Help SOS

This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=136226.0

    Actually it concerns the Voltages.
When I installed this CPU in this board everything was AUTO, in Windows the Voltage read 1.4v.
This 955 Black Editions has Stock Voltages of
    CPU VDD 1.35v
    CPU-NB VDD 1.25v
    HT Link 1.2v.
However because the BIOS does not output all these voltages in the Right Column as to what they are set to reflecting realtime measures, one has to 'boot' into Window to look at the readout.
BIOS Terminology is my main concern so I can set them appropriately to 'stock' first then raise them.
It seems with this board because it has the several different methods to OC that some voltages cannot be adjusted properly so they are already preset to certain stable measures pre-thinking someone will OC.
This not good.  Since if the Processor for the CPU VDDC voltage is set high the VCORE get hot quick.
So, I'm asking for the correct stock voltages for the above for this 955 Black Edition CPU RB-C3 125w/TDP
on this MSI 785GM-E65 Board.  Don't care about OC at the moment.
I need to know from MSI what the stock voltages are for Each Option.
Lastly, the NB Chipset voltage is set at 1.3v from the Factory along with the HT Link.  When I lower the HT to 1.2 the SB voltage activates and these two move in unison. Which is very uncool and odd.

  • 785gm e65 and ssd

Hi, i have the msi 785gm-e65 moptherboard and i would like to ask if it supports ssd drives and trim.I am interested in installing an samsung 830 ssd.

A bit off: Does anyone know why they call it IDE mode? Whether a hard disk uses "AHCI" or "IDE" mode it is still usually an IDE sized disk.
Sorry Fred, it's actual a reffering to the circuitboard on the drive, nothing more.
In the old days they used to have "smart" controllers and dumb drives.
Now they have dumb controllers and "smart" drives, as such they moved the electronics to the drive.
The protocol the drive uses is ATA or AHCI, funny is that RAID isn't a protocol for the drive to use

  • BESX SP3 MR6 - Email attachments are now ALWAYS Auto-download - not good with duplicate attachment names

Does anybody else see where email attachments are now always auto-download on all devices. The policy option was phased out in 5.0 but the default at that time was no (to auto-download). Now they all auto-download.
    1. PDF will not display because they must stay as attachment to render on Blackberry device. Says
“This attachment type cannot be viewed on your device”
    2. Phone messages attached as voicemail.wav - first one works, but since no longer the "Preview" option second says "Fielname exists - Rename?" Some devcies you can save and go back - others you can't.

Surely there's an expert on this forum who can help?

  • Help please - 785GM-E65 return from RMA but still KO..

    HI,
my 785gm-e65 was broken after the m-flash use.
    no POST at all.
RAM, 1 month then came back this morning.
i put the sempron with its rad, the ddr3 and the power switch, then the VGA plug, and ....
    no POST ...
clearing CMOS without power plug did not help.
so my question is, may be its not my mobo, but to debug, i need to know what are the minimal things to POST.
should i have POST without CPU and RAM, only keyboard and VGA plugged ?
    i tried this and nothing..
HELP me solving this problem, before calling again the seller..
    [comment removed]

    ok, that's what i thought :
    CPU+RAM+IGP+power on mobo+power switch
    specs:
    sempron140
    DDR3 noname
    antec NSK1480 with PSU
the thing is that everything was working before M-flash, and after that i RMA my mobo
it's coming back and they told it's fully functional...
but still not working, so it's hard to believe that my CPU or RAM is defective, because they were working without trouble..

  • Always Auto Size Columns?

    Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to make iTunes always auto size the columns in every playlist, etc. It would be a really cool feature to implement if it's not already possible. If anybody knows how to do this, I'd love to know also.
    Thanks

Well you can sort of do it manually. Each playlist should remember which columns are on, what order they are in, & what size each column is.
To auto size a column you can place the cursor at the border between the two columns in the header so that the cursor shows a vertical line with two (or one in some cases) arrows coming out of the side. Double click with this and the column will resize to fit the longest content in the column). You can quickly do this for each column in a playlist.

  • Always auto locks by itself

My iPad 2 always auto locks by itself even though the auto lock time is not up yet. Went to the service centre and was told that it was the software issue & the most common problem iPad faces. A restore of the iPad via iTunes will cure this issue.  I did a restore but the proble started again.....! Help.....

If it is not an Exhange account issue and you have restored to no avail, try a reset. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears - takes about 10-15 seconds. Ignore the red slider.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Slow Upgrade to 785GM-E65

    Hi,
I am interested in migrating my current HTPC (Asus M2A-VM HDMI) to the 785GM-E65 motherboard. I want to take advantage of some existing components however, as I don't want to absorb the expense all at once. I've read various online reviews and have gotten some conflicting data. My questions:
Is this mobo compatible with AM2+ CPUs? I want to use a Phenom X4 9750 for now, and move to an Athlon II X3/4 at a later time
Can I use DDR2 800Mhz memory with this unit? Again, with this notion of moving to DDR3 in the future.
    Thanks!

No, the board only takes AM3 CPU and DDR3 memory.
    http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=prodmbspec&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=&prod_no=1864
To reuse parts you need to take an AM2+ (AM3 ready) board with DDR2 slots.
Then you cvan use AM2(+) and AM3 CPU's, but not DDR3 memory.
If you goto an AM3 board you have to move all of it now.
Else go AM2+ board and you can use an AM3 CPU in it later (if the board is AM3 ready)
See a sample of such a board: http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1642

The first thing I did was to disable systemd's acpi features by setting /etc/systemd/logind.conf as follows:

    # under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License as published by

    #SuspendKeyIgnoreInhibited=no
    #HibernateKeyIgnoreInhibited=no
    #LidSwitchIgnoreInhibited=yes
    IdleAction=suspend
    IdleActionSec=45min
However, the behavior was the same as before.  I also tried setting
    LidSwitchIgnoreInhibited=no
but after reading man 5 logind.conf it seems that this is unnecessary (and it had no effect when I tried it).
acpid is also installed but I have commented out the contents of /etc/acpi/handler.sh as well as all the scripts in /etc/acpi/actions.  I noticed that there is also a UPower daemon which was installed as a dependency and thought that it might be triggering the suspend.  I tried setting
    IgnoreLid=true
in /etc/UPower/UPower.conf but this also had no effect.

Any ideas on what might be causing the system to suspend when the lid is closed would be appreciated.

Since you made the complete switch to systemd, why not let systemd handle this kind of events?
I was referring to the suggestion of setting acpi=off on the kernel line.  systemd can only run a few preset actions on events like lid close (e.g. suspend, poweroff, ignore, etc.).  I need to run custom scripts.  Also, for some reason I still do not fully understand, it was not working properly.  The log in my original post seems to show that it was initiating the suspend.

Yes you need something like laptop-mode-tools for that, I know systemd will not do that, for now.
But that is not the issue here!, the issue here is that the llid-switch-button' shouldn't be used at all.
For as far as possible I would still recommend systemd to handle your events!, but it's your decision finally!
You need acpid for that not laptop-mode-tools.  This is exactly what apcid is for --- running user scripts on ACPI events.
Anyway, I finally have this fixed though I still have no idea what the problem was.  I ran out of ideas on how to fix it and #archlinux didn't know either so I went the painful but sure route.  I did full reinstall and reinstalled all programs.  logind was still behaving as this point (not ignoring it's logind.conf file as it seemed to be before the reinstall) after this so I concluded that the packages installed were not the problem at least with their default configs.  After that, I gradually restored the config files I cared about while testing to see if logind still worked correctly.  Contrary, to what I expected it never broke and I was able to restore all modified configs and get correct behavior.
I suspect there was some old out of date config file somewhere that was causing the problem but it's hard to say which one it was.  I could probably figure it out with a bit more experimentation but have already spent enough time fixing this...
In case anyone else needs a similar configuration, the relevant files are as follows.  This sets up the system to lock whenever systemd executes a suspend action.  It also sets up acpid to suspend on lid close.
Make sure you have installed acpid and enabled it to run at startup.
    /etc/systemd/logind.conf

  • IMac always auto detects for external monitors after waking from sleep or from display off

I've got a Dell 24" monitor (2408WFP) plugged into my mid 2011 iMac via DVI cord and thunderbolt attachment. Things work fine.
When I need to leave my computer, I usually turn the displays off using the shortcut keys: CTRL + SHIFT + EJECT
This works perfectly and both displays go black. However, when I return to my computer and reactivate the iMac, the iMac display will turn blue as if I have just plugged in a new monitor even the external monitor is still plugged in. It usually flashes blue twice before displaying the password prompt. I can usually just log back in as normal. I've never had this happen before using Snow Leopard. It's annoying but strange.
However, even more strange is that sometimes when returning to the desktop, the iMac will do the auto detect display thing and then when I log back in, the external display just shows static as if there is no signal. I've checked the cable a million times and everything is as tight as tight can be and both ends are plugged in properly. Unplugging the displayport adapter from the iMac and then reattaching it restores the desktop on the secondary display although sometimes, it results in the secondary display showing a gray background picture instead of my normal picture. Replugging the secondary display seems to fix that too although sometimes it doesn't.
    Why is this happening?
    - Problem with the adapter?
    - Problem with the DVI cable I'm using?
    - Compatibility issues with my external monitor?
I need to stress the point that this has never happened before with Snow Leopard.
If I am the only one experiencing this then I suppose it may be an issue with the iMac or adapter or even the cable. But if anyone else can shed light on this problem, I'd really appreciate it.

    Hi Micheal,
I've been experiencing the exact same issue with my new iMac I just bought.  I bought it refurb so I wasn't sure if it was a defect with the hardware or not.  Since I'm not the only one I will asume it's not for now.
    Setup:
    - iMac 27-inch 3.4GHz (Release May 2011)
    - Dell 2709W external monitor
    - Hooked in with mini display port to DVI adapter
    - Lion 10.7.3 all up to date to this day
From what I've been able to gather the issue presents itself only when my Dell 2709W enters "Power Save Mode" after I do CTRL + SHIFT + EJECT or when the diplays simply goes to sleep by themselves.
Although if I hit that combination and the displays goes to sleep but I don't wait long enough for my Dell monitor to actually "Power Save Mode" (wait like 2 sec) then touch the keyboard then the 2 displays (iMac and Dell) resumes from sleep without the issue presenting itself.
I'm tempted to buy the mini-display port to HDMI just to see if the issue is still present with that adapter.  If I do I'll update my post with the outcome.
If anyone else has any info to help with this issue it would be greatly appreciated.  It's very annoying when you resume from sleep and you find all of your windows that where opened on the external display before sleep squeezed into your main display (iMac).
    Thanks!

  • Safari always auto-hide bars, always: also in normal screen mode (not full-screen, which is when autohide happens)

Bookmark bar is auto hidden in fullscreen mode, how to keep same functionality in normal mode out of full-screen?
In full-screen I just have the main toolbar showing, which is how I want it all the time. This or either make "full-screen" a lot better.

Hmm, i think i phrased original question badly, i am looking for auto-hide to be featured in normal window mode as well as fullscreen, and whatever else designers and programmers can dream up and not execute poorly.
I have now disabled all EXTENSIONS and removed all 3rd party bars (google, sharethis, never used nayway;) and as my suspicions confirmed Safari is running much better. I was very suspicious of this when it was added as it seemed like trying to match Firefox, which I also gave up some time ago in place of Chrome as my second browser, although I use Safari for 90%. The extensions i think causes freezing when i had Parallels running a Windows VM at the same time and also other times when not.
The extensions is a bit stupid in my opinion as any niggling, minor feature of a website should be addresses to the website rather than the browser. Where adverts are concerned, well, just use the web less or more specifically!
I think I'm fine with Toolbar/URL-search and bookmark bar, its great - simple and not intrusive. I believe EXTENSIONS introduction gave me some sort of weird mental outlook and would urge Apple to be more careful in bringing in different types of features unnecessarily.

I cant seem to get the HT ref out of the 260's I have lowered everything and still no. Is there a weak clock generator on this board or is it in the BIOS (I doubt it is the bios)?
