7900-GTX DVI issue?

Hi!
I have a MSI 7900-GTX card running on a ViewSonic LCD using DVI. I noticed that once I installed the graphics card driver that came with the card, a small, pink strip of pixels appeared on the left side of the screen. This always comes up as soon as Windows boots and turns on DVI (it is on the log-in screen, etc.). Anybody got any idea what causes that? I checked the nVidia settings and found no option that made me believe casues this issue.
Also, where can I find the newest driver for this card? MSI's website has no information about this card in their driver database or on LiveUpdate yet.
Thanks!

Nevermind, false alarm! Downloade the newest driver from nVidias website instead and it is fixed. I guess this was a driver issue afterall. I believe I am running version 84.21. Good news!

    my story :
being a big fan of the game world of the warcraft made me always thinking of getting the best VGA cards , this lead me to the idea of upgrading my VGA from ATI x850xt to get a new MSI 7900GTX 512 PCI-E
things were great for the first 4 months , nothing was there , best ever VGA i may get and use , almost one months ago i had to install the game again due to many suddens errors ( mainly corrupted files in theg ame folder )
since then i started to have things i would never had before , what im having now is
1-  game screen start to have long lines , screen freez then system crash with BOSD saying i have  nvidia error dll file ,
2- my game kept always having corrupted files and i always had to reinstall ,
    what i have tried are
updating , rolling back the VGA driver ( from MSI site and the NVIDIA site) , updating the BIOS of MB form gigabyte site
formatting and getting a fresh copy of winXP
reducing the clock speed to min (eventhough my card temp never passed 60 degree)
i did also a mem test on my rams , i found that my corrupted files was cuased by one of them , so when it was removed corrupted files problem was fixed , however my card still crash and nothing changed
i tired useing opengl , nosound , and reduced all VGA options to be off at the game setting , but still crash
i already contacted tech supp at MSI and used the driver they advised me to use , but nothing change ,
the VGA crash happen in a wiered way , sometimes it can stay for 6 hrs without a crash and sometimes every 3 mins
and somtimes it crash at the login screen even before i start the game
i just dont know why it was working for 4 months and crashed now
now my question , is my VGA became a dead card like my ram and i should buy a new one , was that caused by the PSU , should i get a new VGA and keep the PSU or should i get the two of them new , and is there any way to fix my VGA to make it working as before ,
btw , i have tried many 3D games and all give the same crash
    ur help will realy appreciated

still dont know what that mean , is it 25 amp in total ? ( there is nothing written like total at the box )

its a good idea in same time to test VGA on other machine to check his status as well.

  • GTX 770 hdmi and dvi issue

Somehow hdmi and dvi cables cause random blackouts when not playing games. When i start playing game, it tends to blackout a few times then complete pitch black. The vga cable works. Any idea?

Yes, I initially set it up with the HDMI as the only connection, but I also tested having both DVI and HDMI connected at the same time - in this case it detects the model number of the monitor through HDMI and gives me the option for extended desktop etc - however, if I try selecting duplicate screens and then cycle through the input types on the monitor, when it gets to HDMI the screen is just black.
I'll swap the monitor with my TV when I get back home tonight and see what the results are then.
On other thing issue (probably unrelated) is I get noticeable ghosting, especially when scrolling down webpages (dark text leaves a white silhouette) - I'm using the same DVI cable and monitor that I was on XP, the only difference being the OS and the graphics card.

  • Mini Displayport to Dual-Link DVI Issues on 30" Cinema Display

I know this problem has been around for a while, and that there are several other discussion on it, but my goal here is to point out that even in mid-2011, this issue remains.
    Here's my configuration:
    30" Cinema Display
Dual-link MDP to DVI adapter with 1.03 firmware (purchased August 2011 from an Apple Store)
New-ish MacBook Pro (purchased December 2010) with Mini Displayport
    Symptoms:
On dark areas of the screen, DVI noise appears (horizontal flickers of light coming and going at random)
    Attempted Fixes:
Unplugging the display and plugging it back in to the computer (failed)
    Restarting the computer (failed)
Tightening the connections on the Dual-Link DVI adapter (failed)
Sleeping the display and awaking it (failed)
Some suggest getting a new 27" Cinema Display with native Mini Displayport/Thunderbolt support. I actually have one, but I cannot tolerate the glare on the glossy displays, so I'm "downgrading" to a 30" Cinema Display.
Is there any remaining hope for this issue?

I still cannot understand why you would return everything... Ultimately you want this computer right? Once the bugs on the adapter are fixed are you gonna go back and re-buy it?
Seems like a lot of time spent out of spite and not for good reason. Me, this is the best Mac I've ever owned (and I've owned many. no, really.) and I'm happy to wait for this adapter w/ this machine in stead of going back to my other box.
I observed a similar client of mine w/ an iPhone... after the first week, he didn't like the keyboard and a few other things, so he took it back and went back to using his Blackberry -only to dump the Blackberry again for the iPhone, because he realized that the iPhone still did more things better than the Blackberry.

  • Mini DisplayPort to DVI issues

I just recently purchased the new aluminum MacBook, having previously owned one of the very last iterations of the white MacBooks.
With my old white MacBook I had purchased a Mini-DVI to DVI adapter, and was using that to connect to a DVI to HDMI cable, and that cable was going into my HDTV. I would select and check Overscan under the Display Options of my HDTV, which appeared as PDP-xx50SX under my MacBook, and two black bands would be added to the top and bottom of my MacBook's display, and I would get a full screen crisp image on my HDTV that I was very satisfied with, I would use this to view TV Shows and Movies on Hulu without any issues.
I no longer have that MacBook as a few days ago I got my new aluminum MacBook, and with it my Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. 4 hours ago I wanted to catch up on The Office, so I plugged in my new adapter to the Mini DisplayPort, hooked up my DVI to HDMI cable, and that into my TV, just like I did with my previous MacBook. That was 4 hours ago, and I am still unable to properly configure it like my last MacBook.
I have been beating my head for 4 hours now looking across every forum on the internet, every thread, and every possible way to type out this issue on Google to find any and all results. For some reason I just do not get the Options tab like I was able to on my old MacBook where I could then select the Overscan checkbox.
This is really frustrating, I've tried every possible combination of resolution, mirrored and not, and nothing works like it did with my old MacBook. I simply cannot get a correct full screen image on my HDTV.
Is this a firmware issue? Has it already been addressed and I somehow missed it? Is there any fix? Is this the cause of DisplayPort? Why wouldn't nVidia's 9400m be able to do the same thing Intel's GMA X3100 did? So many questions, and I didn't know where to turn to so I came here to the Apple Support forums hoping I'd get some resolution or reassurance this is something that will be/is being addressed. The only fixes I've seen online are programs like SwitchResX or DisplayConfigX, but I'm not that technically savvy and would rather not fry my screen, especially when it worked perfectly out of the box with my older MacBook. Help!

I am also frustrated by the new display port. I have purchased a DisPort to DVI connector from the Apple store and the pin configuration is different than previous all other Apple adapters (DVI-I). The 4-ins around the blade are missing in the new adapter. The genius bar said in Orlando that the new adapters are a new version of DVI called DVI-D. So all my previous investment cabling is hosed. I was away from the home 20 so I purchased yet another $29 VGA adapter from the Apple store to complete my mission.
Moral of the sad story - Buy a DVI-I to DVI-D adapter if you own and use a MacBook for presentations. The Apple Store does not carry them.
Hey wait a minute is this tied to the disappearing Firewire connector???
    Mike
PS - I was ablt to find a DVI-D to HDMI connector that I will try when I get back home...stay tuned!!

  • More HDMI to DVI issues

I can't go back to the original software and any restore of the Apple TV always updates the software.
I have a Gateway 42" Plasma DVI TV and after reading a lot on this board, I bought this switcher to use between the Apple TV and my TV:
    http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?cid=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011002&pid=5557&seq=1&format=2
It seemed to work fine (although I only used a few minutes) and then I upgraded the Apple TV software to the latest version. Now the menus have a terrible red tint to them. When you first turn on the Apple TV, it looks fine with the Apple logo in grey on a black background, then as soon as the menu comes up, everything goes red.
    Any ideas?
    - Mike

I don't think you ever actually had 720p. I just did a search for a review of your model and this article states your TV only supports 480i, 480p, and 1080i.
    http://www.hometheater.com/crtdisplays/56/
The review was from 2001 which is almost 10 years ago. It seems many older HDTVs from this era lacked 720p support so if anything I would be thankful that Apple added 480p support so that people with older HDTVs would be fully supported. When the Apple TV only supported 720p output, TVs like yours would have wavy lines and defects in the picture (if it worked at all) because the 720p was not supported by their TVs. There was a huge thread about this and after the update many reported that the addition of 480p output completely fixed the issue.
I'm not sure exactly what you had that made you think it was 720p. Do you actually see a big difference in quality or are you just going off the output resolution number you see in Settings?

  • Mercury Playback Engine- GTX 560 issue?

    EVGA GeForce GTX 560- 336 Cuda cores/OpenGL
    12 gb GSkill
    SSD for boot & software
1 TB Barracuda, 1 TB WD Black, both7200 rpm, each in half= 4 drives (:D,:E,:F,:G) for scratch and storage.
    500w Purepower PSU
The card is recognized within CS6 and other various test applications.
With MPE GPU Acceleration Enabled I still have red bars above the footage in several projects. This footage has no effects on it whatsoever. It is merely cut.  If I used an Accelerated Effect, the bar will turn to yellow.
When I render the footage with red bars the GPU load is never above like 3%. At times, it will stay at 0%.  Needless to say, the render time doesn't not seem very optimized at all. Sloww.
However, after rendering the footage and the green bar appearing, I've added an Accelerated Effect- Sharpen, and it turns red again! The play back is then choppy. It will playback if I reduce resolution but how the heck am I supposed to implement the effects like that?
The minute I open several projects there is either no bar for untouched footage or a red bar. I switch between MPE software and hardware setting and still no yellow bar unless I specifically use an Accelerated Effectnc
Am I simply unclear on the function of MPE and I'm expecting too much?
I am using Magic Bullet's DeNoiser function for 60mins of footage with 18db gain- this is taking 50 hours. I expect it to be long. Is 50 hours too long?
I also have green and pink pixel artifacts as random quarter inch squares.
    Is the card bad?
    I tried a few earlier drivers...nothing.
I researched the PSU, good reviews on New Egg.
    Is this a CPU issue?
Thanks as always for the help guys.

I have done a fresh install of the OS altogether. This was in order to reformat drives, reassign scratch disks, reinstall software and fresh unlocking of the video card.
Premiere Pro acts the same more or less. Noise removal is cpu intensive and when I'm removing 18db of video grain, I guess, yea, it'll be pretty slow.
I believe that the problem is the PSU.  NewEgg's PSU calculator says my system needs 525watts minimum. I'm operating on a 500w. At the start of the post I was overlcocking and was also experiencing occasional reboots. I think lack of power caused the artifacts in the GTX 560. This is probably also bottlenecking the CPU and GPU (reason for low loads).
My solution is to purchase 700-850watt psu. I'm hoping this will allow the CPU & GPU the ability to process much higher loads.
Please, if anyone sees any further correction to this I'm open ears!
    Cheers.

  • Nvidia GTX 870M issue on GS70-2PE

    Hi,
My laptop came back from repairs but now gpu is messing up :( like on my other motherboard my GTX 870M would run just fine no problems but now after repair due to BIOS death on my other motherboard my new motherboard GPU is having trouble with DX11 :/
When i started bioshock infinite it showed up with flickering textures like lines here and there so i assigned everything to ultra and then it threw error message saying DX11 device removed or Crashed. then i pressed OK and second box came saying Bioshock Infinite has stopped responding and needs to be shutdown :/ so i removed graphics drivers did clean install tried game again and straight away after intro game goes black i hear music for like 20 seconds then this box appears again saying Bioshock Infinite has stopped responding and needs to be shutdown -.- so i tried to install DX11 but got message saying it's already installed so now i'm out of ideas :/ does anyone have fix for this issue?
    /Thanks

i have 332.38 so when i upgrade i select advanced on 344.11 and then you will find feature list and then a box under big box saying Clean Install if you select that it will then uninstall old drivers and then install new ones and yes issue occures on all drivers no mather which i pick :/
There are people who share that by using this check box, the drivers are not uninstalled completely and cause some issues, so all drivers have to be uninstalled manually from the Control Panel> Unisntall a program.
I'm sorry to hear that, a friend of mine owns the GS70 Stealth, she likes it a lot and it runs really well.
Maybe it's the driver's issue, but we can't test on that now.
Hope your next notebook will work out fine.

  • GTX 680 Issue

Recently I had my GTX 680 Twin Frozr sent for an RMA due to a faulty fan. The card came back and it started showing graphical artifacts when gaming (happens occasionally), today I couldn't use it at all, every 10-20 seconds the screen will freeze and when it comes around I'll get this message "Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 331.82 stopped responding and has successfully recovered." After a few more crashes I'll just get a black screen and have to restart the PC. I've reformatted my PC but the issue persist.  Should I send my card for another RMA or is it driver related?
    PC Specs:
    - Proc.: i5 3570k
    - MainBoard: ASRock Z77 Extreme 4
    - RAM: 4GB DDR3 (x2)
    - GPU: GTX 680 Twin Frozr (2GB)
    - PSU: Seasonic X-760
    - OS  : Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
Managed to get a screen shot of the artifact (Playing DayZ)
    Picture of the error message

Try removing current drivers in safemode using >>Driver Fusion<< and installing latest driver after reboot. If no help the new card seems to be defective too and you have to rma again, sorry.

I have this problem too.  What I have found is that if the vga adpter is connectto a monitor, I can get a signal from the HDMI-DVI adapter.  But when I disconnect the vga adapter, the HDMI-DVI signal goes away too.  Anybody know what's going on here?

  • Mac Mini mini-display to DVI issues

I have a late 2012 Mac Mini running OSX Mavericks, and I am currently using an LG Monitor over HDMI. I want to run a second Monoprice tablet monitor from the mini-display using a DVI cable and an Apple mini-display to DVI adapter. Every time I plug it in, both screens go dark and the computer crashes and restarts. The Monoprice monitor works fine when I unplug the LG from the HDMI port and plug in my Monoprice using a DVI to HDMI cable. Also, at one point, I plugged my Monoprice in to the mini-display port using a mini-display to VGA adapter and VGA cable, and it only gave me a 1200 X 800 resolution (The Monoprice is 1440 X 900---I could never get it to display this resolution using the mini-display port).
Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

I used an HDMI to DVI cable to connect an Apple TV to an Acer monitor, so I would expect the same to work for the mini. You'll have to run the audio separately, however, as you won't get audio through DVI.

  • VGA / DVI issue (Ultrabase?)

Until today I had a laptop and desktop connected top an Avocent SwitchViewDV1 (KWM) Monitor is a Samsung Syncmaster 226cw connected to switch box via DVI and from switchbox outputs by DVI cable to lap top & desktop.
Today received a new X200 ... it has no DVI socket (only 15 pin D type)I thought initially problem solved by adding a DV-I female to 15 pin male gender changer ... although this all physically fits ... nothing displayed on monitor.
2 questions ... is there an alternative 'adapter' or are DVI to VGA cables available ?
Second question ... and probably more important, does the Ultrabase support DVI monitor connection ... if so I might as well wait a couple of days for Ultrabase to arrive.

    Osprey, welcome to the forum,
wait for the Ultrabase and order yourself a Display Port to DVI Cable.
    Hope this helps

  • Detect Display DVI issue

I've read every thread on this board about DVI and i'm still at a loss over this query.
The geniuses at my local apple store swear up and down that the macbook pro can output DVI-D dual link video. My Magnavox 42MF230A has the pin set for DVI-D dual link and has shown video sent using said cable in the past. When I hook the DVI-D dual link cable to the DVI output on my macbook pro (which appears to accept any pin set though I might be way off on that) I am unable to "detect display". The system preferences panel searches and then stops without finding the display. Am I doing something wrong or am I being told something wrong at the store?

When you say the cable has shown video in the past, do you mean the combination of your MBP, the Magnavox and that cable worked at one time?
    Anyway, a couple of observations:
Dual-link is irrelevant in this set-up. It's not needed. On the other hand, neither should it cause any problems.
I would try and get my hands on another DVI cable to try. As above, it doesn't have to be dual-link. I would also try plugging another DVI device, besides the MBP, into the TV. And finally, I would try plugging the MBP into another DVI-enabled monitor of some kind. This is the only way I can think of to try and isolate where the problem might lay.

  • ADC-DVI issues ?

I am using Boot Camp on a 2.66 Mac Pro. I have a ADC-DVI adapter on a second monitor, to which I have plugged in my USB mouse. I note that after the last set of updates, when I boot into Win XP, the mouse is off. If I quickly (within 20 seconds or so) go, and unplug and replug in the USB cable from the ADC-DVI adapter, the mouse comes back on. If I wait too long, this doesnt work, and I have no mouse no matter where I plug it into .
    Anyone else see this ?

So can you confirm that this is the adapter you are using, and that the power supply (top item in the picture) is plugged into a live outlet and appears to be providing power to the display?

  • MacBook odd DVI issue

    Hi All,
I have a MacBook 2.2 ghz and have been using it successfully with the mini-dvi to dvi-hdmi cable for the past 3 weeks. I have a 50" Panasonic Plasma and it worked great.
Yesterday (after not using it for about a week) I plugged it in and my MacBook didn't find the display. However, when the TV is off it finds it as usual. Further more, if the macbook is plugged in and the TV is off, then I turn the TV on, I can see the Mac desktop for a split second before it can't find the display again. I tried it on my smaller 27" LCD using the same cables and it worked perfect. I also tried it on a different Hitachi Plasma and when I plugged it in the screen goes blue and flickers and nothing shows up on the screen. The only program I installed was Adobe CS3, which I uninstalled to see if anything would change and it didn't.
    Any help would be great!
Also, I specifically remember holding down a key during start up and it booted into the Install Disk which gave me options to repair disk etc. I thought I held down the Option button but doing so boots me into the New Install menu - anyone that could shed light on that as well would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Ben

I would suggest trashing the display preferences and/or repairing permissions to see if your display preference file is corrupt.
    Find the files in
    /Users/"yourusername"/Library/Preferences/By Host/com.apple.preferences.diplays....
I think each file represents each display, but just to make sure I'd trash them all.
Remember to empty the trash bin because the changes don't take effect until you do that. Might even have to reboot--not sure about that.
