7900gt vt2d256e-hd pink bar

Hi,
just got the 7900 vt2d256e-hd (the 7900gt with hdcp support) and I have a display problem. There is a pink bar on left side of my screen that won't go away. It spans all the way from top to bottom, and I can't drag my mouse over it so its outside the bounds of the windows screen. My specs are:
Windows XP Pro
Intel e6600 core 2 duo
Asus P5W-DH Deluxe Mobo
2gb (2 x 1gb) OCZ 6400 Platminum memory
Any one know of a solutions.
Many thanks.

Frankenputer,
I just got my Crystal Ball back from the shop and I was using it to get the details on forgz's monitor. From what I can see in the Crystal Ball, it looks like forgz has a 15 year old IBM 12" CRT Monitor.
Humm..... I wonder if I should take the Crystal Ball back to the shop again so they can fine tune it.
Richard
P.S. Now where did I put my Ouija Board...........

  • 7900GT VT2D256E AntiaAliasing Crashes

Hello, I've recently bought this excellent video card but I am having problems with it when I activate AntiaAliasing on it.
On Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas the screen first starts to flash an the everything goes black, but the music still stays on, but I have to reboot.
The other game I tested was F.E.A.R and when I run the timedemo test, the screen goes black at about 10 seconds after it started.
The couriuos thing is that everything runs fine when AntiaAliasing is OFF.

Ok, I researched on the net and find out that the 7900GT from all brands might be faulty, and I was an unlucky one that bought one of this faulty 7900GT, it is said that the memory controller on the back of the card gets so damn hot that produces graphics corruptions, blank screen or the entire system hang up
"it is said that the memory controller on the back of the card gets so damn hot that produces graphics corruptions"
dont trust to that much. so you have faulure memory chips which is making corruption, but that only happend when AntiaAliasing is ON.
sound fantastic/unreal explaination to me. "(The couriuos thing is that everything runs fine when AntiaAliasing is OFF.)"
spend little time and try this drivers:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=100982.0
use Driver Cleaner to remove currently drivers before installing the new once.
ensure you have installed correct chipset drivers.
ensure you have running latest version of DirectX (August Release)
what is your graphic temperature at idle and full load?
try diffrent games and ensure they(games) is upto date(has latest patch for it installed).
    test it with 3dmark 05 and 06.

  • Stuck on white screen with 5 pink vertical bars and apple logo

Hi all,  mid 2011 I bought my first IMAC which operated great until a couple of hours ago.
All of a sudden the screen started to flicker
I tried pushing the on/off button which did not help.
Then I pulled the plug out of the socket.
    Put the computer back on.
I got a white screen with 5 pink bars and apple logo.
    Then a white screen.
    Nothing more.
Started the computers several times but no luck.
So, I called the shop where I bought it and just went there. Only thing they can do is send for repairments and reset the whole system.
And since my computerknowledge goes only so far I do not have a back up...And they can not get my files from the computer.
Therefore i was advised to go an Apple store, which I did. But I was told they also cannot help me with getting backups.
So my question is : how do i get an backup from this iMAC if I cannot get past a white screen with 5 pink bars?
And furthermore, how could this is happen?
Anyone any advice and ideas regarding this matter?
    Thanks very much!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
This is not a good sign, because the GPU is damaged. Unfortunately, you can't do anything to recover your data, but here's the good part: the GPU isn't soldered to the logic board in your Mac, so only the GPU will be replacing and you won't lose anything more.
You can take it without a backup before the hard drive won't be modified. However, when you get your computer after being repaired, buy an external drive and start making backups using Time Machine or a clone app like Carbon Copy Cloner. All hard drives fail and you don't know when your hard drive will fail, so it's better to make backup of your files

  • Green & Pink horizontal Lines? and Audio Sample Rate? Help, Please!

I have just successfully completed one short film. I'm believe I'm doing exactly the same as before but I'm running into problems. Used a Panasonic PV-GS300 camcorder with mini DV. Then a Sony DSR-11 deck. When I capture there are green and pink bars within horizontal lines over the image in the viewer. When I end the capture I get the message 'the audio sample rate of captured media files does not match the sample rate on you source tape. Video and audio out of sync.' The captured film clip audio rate is 48.0 KHz, the audio format is 16-bit integer, the audio is 2 Mono and the tracks are 1V 2A. Any suggestions, help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry about that, I'm away from my FC system, so I can't refer to it. You should choose DV-NTSC in Easy Setup as a starting point, then if the audio settings of your footage are different from 48kHz 16-bit, then you can easily change the capture settings to match.

  • Fade in from black (pink flash in-between frames) in premiere pro cc

    Hello,
when i fade in from black I get a transparent pink flash in between frames as the effect is happening.  The footage has a white background which makes the color very noticeable.
I have tried key framing opacity, and using a levels, and the same result occurs.

CC 2014, source is 1080mts and the open CL was on.  I believe that was the issue, as well as other things the way the transparency and the blacks were interacting, after turning off mercury playback it fixed the black issues.  Havent been on the project in question for a while to check if that fixed the pink bars as well, though.

  • Home directory is not being backed up in Time Machine

Problem: It turns out my home directory does not have any backups in Time Machine for the last year.  I've never received any error message indicating it wasn't doing the full backup.
Goal: I'd like to get Time Machine to back up my home folder (which contains 100% of the content I care about) again, ideally in a way where I can keep my history from the last time it backed up successfully.
    How I found out:
    - I opened Time Machine and realized all the "pink bars" were dimmed all the way back up to Sept. 2011 when I navigated to my home folder or any folder within it.
    - I cloned a file within my home folder, did a manual Time Machine back up, opened Time Machine and verified that the backup volume did not contain the cloned file.
    - I did this again while watching the Console and verified that it did not make a large enough backup to include the cloned file.
    - I explored all the backups in Finder and realized that indeed all the backups that corresponded to the dimmed pink bars in Time Machine had no home folder.
    - I did an "ls -a" in the backup volume in Terminal and realized that it was not the case that the home directory was present but merely hidden.
    What I've tried:
    - I created a new admin account, logged into that and did a manual Time Machine backup from there.  The new account was backed up, while the original home directory still wasn't.  This continues to be true in subsequent backups made while logged into the main account.
    - I examined the exclusions list in Time Machine preferences.  The only items were the backup volume itself and another partition of that external drive I use for other backups, as expected.
    - I did a "Full Reset of Time Machine" (http://pondini.org/TM/A4.html), with a reboot before re-enabling Time Machine.  The plist file did change to become much simpler, but the home folder is still not being backed up.
    Other notes:
    - I run Dropbox, and have those contents in a folder one level under the home directory
    - I run Git
    - The existing backups have only used 500GB or so of a 1TB partition, so it's not filling up.
    - I ran Verify Disk in Disk Utility on both my backup volume and the mac's HD.  The backup volume appeared OK, but the mac HD was "found corrupt and needs to be repaired".  I could boot into the Recovery HD and repair it, but I feel like this is a risk and I'd like to have a working backup before I do that (I don't have another external HD around to make a temporary backup).  Could the corrupted drive be the reason Time Machine has been silently skipping the home folder?
    - My home folder is named "apple".  Might this be a problem?  I'd rename it, but that's a risk and I'd like a verified backup before doing that.
    - The Time Machine plist file in /Library/Preferences is pretty hard to read in pico, TextEdit, etc (maybe this is normal?)
I've scoured the forums and pondini's very thorough troubleshooting pages to no avail.  Please let me know if anyone has ideas.  Thanks.

Latest update: Bought a new external harddrive, set that up as the new Time Machine volume, but got the exact same results (all but my main user directory are backed up).  This is after another Time Machine reset (deleting the .plist), starting up in Safe Mode, and trying to initiate the backup from both the account that doesn't get backed up and another administrator account.
Here is some of the output from the Console when filtering messages for "backupd":
10/5/12 2:51:23.572 AM com.apple.backupd[13529]: Backup content size: 481.57 GB excluded items size: 11.31 GB for volume Macintosh HD
    10/5/12 2:51:23.572 AM com.apple.backupd[13529]: Found 1437613 files (470.25 GB) needing backup
    10/5/12 2:51:23.573 AM com.apple.backupd[13529]: 564.3 GB required (including padding), 1.5 TB available
10/5/12 2:51:23.581 AM com.apple.backupd[13529]: Waiting for index to be ready (100)
10/5/12 3:40:33.297 AM com.apple.backupd[13529]: Copied 763432 files (21.54 GB) from volume Macintosh HD.
Put the relevant parts in bold.  No messages about why it only backed up 21.54GB when it found 470.25GB that needed to get backed up.
Does this make sense to anyone??

  • How to set up 2 iMacs, one with a non-functioning graphics card.

    Looking for suggestions.
I have a 2009 27" iMac that has a broken graphics card. At least that's what I think is wrong with it cause when I turn it on I see white screens with vertical pink bars from top to bottom. I bought a new iMac 5K and I wanted to see if I could connect the old iMac as a second screen. Would that still need a functioning graphics card for the old or will the new iMac which will be the main computer be able to run both screens with it's own graphics card. I don't have a mini Display port cable yet as I wanted to see what people think first before I go get one. The old iMac has no thunderbolt port and has a mini display port, Ethernet and Firewire only. I'd appreciate any input on this learning process.

    Hello vman1027,
As long as the 27" iMac is a Late 2009 model, you should be able to utilize its display as a Target Display for your 5k iMac.

  • Can you automatically mirror an image?

Is there a simple way to create a mirrored image, and I don't mean a hortizontal flip.  I want the front-back flip you get when you hold a book up to a mirror.
For example, this is the original image
Most tutorials online say use the hortizonal flip. However, notice the pink is now on the left? Like the name says this is a flip, not a mirror.
In this image I manually edited the top row so it appears mirrored. The pink bar stays on the right side, but the images of the books appear reversed.
Is there a simple and easy to do this in photoshop? Flipping each book cover by hand is pretty time consuming.

Hrizontally flipping each layer would be the way to go for the bottom image. However a true mirror would be like the middle image.

  • MBP 2011 GPU failure or software problem?

    Hello there,
since Januari 1, 2015 my Macbook Pro 15" (purchased in 2011) is having major problems! How things started:
I was just watching a movie on Netflix, pauzed it, went to the toilet and when I came back my MBP had a black screen. I could hear the fans working (when I pressed my head against the keyboard) but it did not respond to anything. All I could do was a hard reboot.
After reboot I got the Apple logo, but the screen looked not as smooth as before. When I looked closer I saw very thin, horizontal lines (color pink/brown?) across the entire screen. These lines were not perfect. They had a small break in the middle. After the Apple screen I got different results:
    - White/Grey or maybe very pale blue-ish screen -> Does nothing behind this
-----> This is also the most frequent result of a boot
    - Normal blue screen -> Checkered screen -> Back to the blue screen to end with a Kernel Panic screen
Since a few days I can "normally" boot again but it crashes after a while. I don't know what the trigger is. It may be coincidence but it always crashed when I tried to go on the internet or used an application wich used the airport (also used a cable). Maybe important to mention is that this "normal" boot happens after the "checkered" screen mentioned above.
-----> The "crash" in this normal boot happens like this:
    - Total freeze of the MBP
    - Crashes on a black screen (like I had before)
    - Crashes on a dark blue/purple(?) screen -> This is also the most frequent crash after a "normal" boot and happens faster and faster.
Safe boot: Sometimes a normal screen but most of the time a screen with pink, very low resolution bands (vertical) across the screen.
When I tried searching for solutions on the internet I immediately came across this:
    http://www.mbp2011.com/
The screens show exactly what I'm experiencing. The culprit in this case: GPU failure.
BUT, isn't it strange I don't have any glitching (apart from the boot in safe mode, the Apple Logo and the checkered screen) or distortion on my screen, that it sometimes has a clear screen, like nothing is wrong? Unlike many of the people with the GPU failure, I CAN boot the MBP with a normal screen, only it isn't very stable and it is only occasionally.
    Things I've done so far:
    1. Reinstall OS X (10.6.7) from the original installation disc.
    2. I have tried NVRAM and PRAM (cmd+option+P+R), no change.
    3. Verbose-mode (cmd+V). (the last thing I could see was something about the Airport) I did this 2 times. First time it crashed on a black screen after the Verbose-mode. Second time it got stuck on the grey screen.
    4. Single-user Mode (cmd+S). Everything looked fine, no errors on hard disk.
    5. Start in Safe Mode. (Shift). The bar doesn't load until the end but it boots in safe mode, but with the pink bars on the screen
    6. Re-apply of thermal paste on GPU
The programmer at our work has over 30 years of experience with Apple and has never seen something like this. He also doesn't understand why it would be a hardware failure, because the glitches are "symmetrical", it can boot "normally" and he can't find anything wrong with it. He is now looking for something in the software wich may cause the MBP to crash. Could it just be a software problem? As I said before: It could be a coincidence but the crashes (after a "normal" boot) always appeared after trying to connect to the internet, using the internet or using an application that uses the internet (like the App Store -> I was trying to download Yosemite, it crashed around 70% of the download). And in Verbose mode the last line said something about the Airport and then it crashed.
My MBP is a Macbook Pro 15" (bought in July 2011), 2 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB 1333 MHz DD3
AMD Radeon HD 6490M, Part nr. MC721FN/A.
I am running Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8
I spent the last two weeks on the internet to understand that if it is indeed the GPU that is failing, the replacement of the entire Logic Board is necessary, wich is VERY expensive... This cost would be more or less ok for me, but I read about failing after replacement, a LOT. Why would I pay so much money for a repair that only lasts just over 90 days? That is ridiculous!
Sorry for spelling/grammar mistakes, English isn't my first language and really thank you in advance. This MBP is impossible to replace (no money...) so I hope someone can help me.
Ask away if I did not provide any information that is necessary for troubleshooting.

    Anyone?

  • Late 2011 Macbook Pro green pixels on the screen where dark colors should appear.

I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro I bought it new with 4 gb of ram. About 4 months ago i purchased 8 gb of pny ram for this model and upgraded the ram. I followed all of the safety precautions and discharged my static electricity before upgrading. It increased the speed of my mac and helps with certain tasks. About 2-3 weeks i notices my mac froze and strange green black and pink bars appeared on the screen so i hold the power button to shut it down and it solves the problem this will happen about once a month but otherwise my mac works perfect. Now about a month ago I powered my mac on and low and behold The screen was covered in green pixels. I tried rebooting twice and it didn't do anything then i let it sleep for about 5 mins opened my mac and the green pixels were gone. Now my mac is still usable and everything works its just sometimes like once in a while ill get a few pixels and closing and opening my mac fixes it. I was curious if this was related to one another or is my mac just starting to die....

I have been getting green pixels/boxes the last while...
I have noticed it after waking the machine from sleep. Not 100% sure if that is the only time it happens. It goes away after a few seconds, typically.
Any idea what is going on?

  • 22" Vizo 720p TV Display not connecting with 15" Macbook Pro

I'm trying to connect my Mid-2010 15" MBP running Mountain Lion to a 22" 720p TV. I have hooked my MBP with the same adapter to other monitors with success so I know the port and the adapter work fine. I have tried detecting displays, unpugging and replugging, starting the devices in different order, and so on. The only success that I have had is when I restart my MBP and close it so it is in clamshell mode. The Apple logo appears on my external monitor and then just shows a few, vertical pink bars across the screen. I have tried adjusting the TV settings with no luck. It says that the VGA settings for the TV are 1680x1050.
Could this resolution be the issue? Could it be possible that this monitor is not supported by Macbooks?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

OK - I bought the Apple Mini Display Port to DVI plug and a DVI to HDMI adaptor. I then tried this set up on another TV in the house, a Samsung 720P TV, and after sizing the TV settings correctly, the process worked - as advertised (MBP recognized Samsung 720P).
So I trotted downstairs and tried the same process with the Panny TV. I must be snake bit. The MBP video on the TV came on when I connected the cable. The video turned off after I closed the MBP lid. When I woke it up with mouse/keyboard, the video came back on.....for about 3 seconds, and then shut off. Then it keeps coming back on every 15 - 20 seconds but shuts right back off.
I'm hanging it up for tonite before I throw the mess across the room and will tackle it again tomorrow.
Anything you want to add? I certainly appreciate the help!

  • Fighting with Submit Button and Return Address / distributing Forms

I go crazy, too ! We designed some smart forms for a new evaluation process, too, and had a successfully test within our IT collegues. Now we handed the process over to the users, and the problems are on!
We made sure that everyone uses the same version of Adobe 9.1.2 Pro - but not 2 users do have the same results.
We found following 2 major issues:
    1) When opening the _distributed.pdf - users either completly missing the pink bar with  Highlight fields / Submit Form
