7925 Lock Settings -- Disable ability to switch ringer to vibrate?

I have a client that is looking to fully lock down the 7925 phones.  We have "Disabled" the "Setting Access" which prevents users from changing ring tones and volume, but a few savy users have discovered holding dow the "*" key will put the phone into "Vibrate".  Any way to block this?
On a similar note, is there a way to programatically/administratively change the ring tone? Change based on inbound caller?  Must be a way as there is the Phone Customization widget...
Thanks,
Mark

Ok I'm not recommending you do this, I just want to point out that it is possible if you really need to lose the settings menu!! Good Luck.
It is possible but only if you can boot TV from an external hard drive (this process is documented all over the net). Or if you remove the hard drive (voiding your warranty) and connect it through usb (using 2.5" IDE to USB cable - Fairly cheap) and mount it as an image on your mac.
Once you have the apple tv hard drive as an image, using either of these methods, find the 'Backrow' application and use the finder command 'get info' by highlighting it and pressind 'cmd' + 'I' This will display info about the application.
There should be a drop down menu called Plug-ins. In this each of the menu items is listed as a frapplliance. Simply uncheck the settings icon and it wont display.

My iphone5 quit ringing. I've checked settings and the side switch. What now?

When you go to Settings > Sounds > Ringtones and tap on a ringtone, does it emit a sound then?  If so, Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb and make sure it is OFF.
Next steps would be to back up your iPhone, then go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
If the issue continues still, restore the iOS.  Last step would be to take it in for service.
Locate a Service location (choose your country in the top right)

  • IPad won't rotate. Lock is off both on switch and settings. Reset with no joy.

Need help with rotate on iPad II

For future reference, you might wish to keep in mind that the rotation lock control and system sound control are really confusing.  Originally, the side switch was used for rotation lock control (and a soft switch for system sounds) but IOS-3 changed the switch so that it controlled system sounds in order to keep consistency among IOS devices (a soft switch controlled rotation lock).  Then, for IOS-4, Apple made a serious mistake in attempting to pacify some whiners that actually claimed that they turned auto-rotate on and off fifty times/day and consequently the side switch is mandatory.  The result is real disaster.
The following is a C&P from a post made by Demo.  It's a better explanation that I can come up with.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

I forgot my passcode and i have no backup of my Ipad, it is locked and disabled, can anyone help to restore factory settings atleast as a new ipad

    Hey salosawaya,
If you have never synced your device with iTunes and you forgot your passcode, you'll follow these directions:
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

  • Disable Fast User Switching for RDP (NOT HIDE ENTRY POINTS!)

    Windows 7 Pro.
I do virtually all my administration of 150 workstations (various domains and workgroups) remotely via RDP, and with Windows 7, I am finding more and more complications with Fast User Switching. Anything running under another user account may well
interfere with what I need to do: it may slow me down by consuming system resources, or it may, in fact, lock files that I need to remove or update.
When I log on remotely via RDP, I am notified that another user is logged on, but I have no option to log the other user off. If I then attempt to update a program that the other user has open, it may not update correctly because the other user has files
in use. I have been told I can use WMI to force another user logoff. I could probably run shutdown -i and force the user off (but, of course, that might log me off as well). However, this is not a good approach; when I run updates, I typically connect to anywhere
from five to 30 workstations simultaneously, and by the time I get logged onto all of them, I have no idea which had other users logged on and which did not. I would have to repeat on each of 30 workstations just to find out. I need a way to force-logoff the
other user during my logon process.
In the middle of running software installation, I may disconnect (NOT LOGOFF) from a workstation, take it to another site, then reconnect to the station to finish the installation. I may even just walk away from my computer for 15 minutes while updates are
running. If a non-administrative user attempts to logon, it asks me for permission, but allows the user to logon if I do not manually deny it. All non-administrators must be automatically denied logon when I am logged on.
It seems that disabling Fast User Switching would do this, but every time I have posted anywhere on the issue, I get another set of instructions on how to hide the entry points for Fast User Switching. That may work well for managing local logons
but fails miserably to protect my administrative environment.

    Hi Brian,
Base on the KB article 279765
How To Use the Fast User Switching Feature in Windows XP, when not using Fast User Switching (FUS) and a non-administrator is logged on, a member of the Administrators
group can establish a remote desktop connection and has the ability to logon to the machine locally and gets a prompt to logoff previous logged on user. When an administrator is logged, any member of the Administrators group may establish a remote desktop
connection. If a non-administrator attempts to connect, you may receive the following error message:
“The user <Domain or Computer Name>\<username> is currently logged on to this computer. Only the current user or an administrator can
    log on to this computer.”
In Windows 7, if the Fast User Switching is turned off, the Administrator cannot attempt to login locally. Administrator can do a Remote Desktop Session
to the Windows 7 machine and put his credentials. Once he attempts to login, he gets a prompt that looks like below.
“Once Administrator clicks on Yes, the User1’s session is disconnected.”
After logging in, Administrator can launch the Task Manager, click on “Users” tab and logoff User1. The prerequisite for the Administrator
to be able to do a Remote desktop session to the Windows 7 machine is to enable Remote Desktop services on the Windows7 machine.
In the interim, when the Administrator is logged in and has not attempted to logoff User1 yet, if User2 tries to login, the Administrator will get a
    prompt that looks like below.
“If the Administrator clicks OK, User2 will be allowed to login and the Administrator’s session will be disconnected.”
    This is a known issue.
    Regards,
    Sabrina

  • HT2417 Iphone model MC608LL.  Why won't it switch back to ringer from vibrate?

Have 3G Iphone model MC608LL.  Why won't it switch back to ringer from vibrate?  Local repair shop said it was a software issue.  AT&T store said to back it up and update OS version.  Did all that.  The switch still won't take it off vibrate.

    - How did you delete it?  If you used Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings without the iPod being charged you could have completely drained the battery.
    - After charging for at least half an hour try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next, after the charging above, place the iPod in recovery mode and try to restore it via iTunes.  For recovery mode see:

  • My daughter put a password on her ipad and now the ipad is locked and disabled. how do i unlock it or reset the ipad?

My daughter put a password on her Ipad2 and forgot her password. She entered the password wrong 10 times and now her Ipad says that it's locked and disabled. How can I reset or unlock her IPad2?
    thank you

You cant reset the password. You will have to restore the device within iTunes and you will want to use the same computer that you sync with if you want to restore all of the app data and app settings.
This article will explain how to restore the iPad.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
Howver, you will probably need recovery mode in order to bypass the passcode. You can read about it here.

  • Bought an ipod 4g at a pawn shop, it was locked and disabled but the guy said I could restore it, it didn't work and he won't take back the ipod what do i do?

I bought an ipod 4g at a pawn shop, it was locked and disabled but the guy said I could restore it by connecting it to my computer and pressing the home and sleep buttons at the same time, it didn't work and he won't take back the ipod what do i do?
When I try connecting it to my computer itunes opens and says I cannot connect to the ipod because it is disabled, enter passcode on ipod. The ipod is locked and disabled and will not allow me to try and put in a passcode, which I wouldn't be able to do because I have no idea what it might have been.
I downloaded the newest version of Itunes, restarted computer, connected ipod, nothing, held every button down for what seems like forever, nothing. I think I have been screwed by the pawnshop. Is there anyway of restoring this thing or is now just a $60.00 paperweight?

  • Disable hardware audio switch

I have a common problem with headphone's jack pin stuck in the port.
The problem is that I can not reach it, and seems almost not possible to do that. Anyway, I want to simply disable the hardware switch, which is preventing speakers to play. Any options to route audio to embedded speaker trough tweaking system preferences?
I'm using Mac Mini 2011, unibody
    Many thanks,
    Valerii

    Hi vlider,
I definitely understand the importance of being able to have audio from your Mac Mini, and I agree with you in that you shouldn’t be removing the stuck headphone jack yourself.  I recommend seeking assistance to get this repaired, so you can enjoy the full functionality of your Mac Mini. You can find some repair options here:

  • Can I use the left or right convenience buttons to switch my ringer to vibrate only?

Trying to figure out how to switch my ringer to vibrate (with no ringing) only easier than going into the phone menu, any ideas?

On some of the Operating System verisons, for the Pearl, you can press the # key to switch between vibrate and your normal profile.
If you have a custom profile set, it will toggle between vibrate and the custom profile.

  • Is there a way to disable automatic bluetooth switching?

im sure the topic title is a little confusing.  so let me elaborate.  i have this jvc bluetooth device that has a 3.5 input to basically make your device comout of the speaker or media center that is connected to the bluetooth device.  i can either connect the 3.5 cable to my itouch, or the bluetooth device.  when connected to the device directly, the sound quality suffers since its bluetooth.  but you can also control the music by connecting the 3.5 to the itouch directly and crol the music with the device.  the problem is that everytime i push the button to pause or skip, he ipod things im using the bluetooth device and goes back into bluetooth mode everytime i press a button.  is there a way to disable this auto switch.  the ipod thinks it knows better, by thinking i want to use bluetooth sound, and keeps switching the source everytime i skip a song.  then i have to use that little source switcher on the bottom right corner to switch it back.

No way that I know of

  • RCOCB004 - meaning of lock settings

    Hi gurus,
what might happen if the lock settings of RCOCB004 (send process messages, plant dependent) are set to "No lock, paralle jobs allowed".
Do I have to expect some consequence such as inconsistencies ?
background: we send the process msg. event-triggerd with a job. Sometimes the situation occurs that one prcess has been startet (but not yet finished) and the next event triggers a new start of this job which leads to cancelation.....

When the variant assigned to the background job for RCOCB004 has "Lock with Lock Group" radio button checked, here is how the system behaves:
If the background job is already active and a new process message is created, the background job is NOT triggered again.  The new process message will not be picked up by the job that is already active.  The new process message will NOT trigger the background job even after the job that was active is finished.  The new message will be in u201CTo be Sent Statusu201D.  This new message will continue to be in u201CTo be Sent Statusu201D till another message is created which will trigger the background job.  This background job will pick up all of the messages that can be picked up for processing based on the selection parameters in the variant (e.g u201CTo be Sentu201D, u201CTo be Re-submittedu201D, u201CTo be Resubmitted w warningu201D etc.)
When the variant assigned to the background job for RCOCB004 has "Parallel Jobs Allowed" radio button checked, here is how the system behaves:
If the background job is already active and a new process message is created, the background job is triggered again.  There will be 2 jobs active.  With this setup, the new process messages get picked up even if there is a background job that is already active.  However, if the new process message is related to an object that is already being processed by the first job that is active, the new message may not be processed and be set to u201CTo be Re-submittedu201D status due to locking of the objects like reservation.  This message in the u201CTo be Re-submittedu201D status will not be processed till a new message is created and the background job is triggered again.
Please let me know if you need additional information.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Transport of locking settings / locking characteristics

    Hi @ all,
is it possible to transport locking settings/lock characteristics (for an InfoCube) from development to production system. I couldn't find the correct object in the transport connection. Or do I have to set it manually in the produktion system?
    Kind regards,

You can't transport the lock settings.
You have to do them manually in each system.

When ADU is installed on my laptop running XP with several user accounts it disables fast switching and I can only log on with one account. Removal of the ADU solves the problems. Is this a known bug or is it something my end. How do I work round it? If at all?

What you are seeing is a expected behavior. This is by design. Due to Microsoft limitation in the fast user switching, whenever Microsoft detects any 3rd party gina file, it automatically disables fast user switching.
