7960 (8.2 SIP) Requesting Configuration under heavy call volume

I have a group of 7960 phones, connected to asterisk (1.2.10) acting as part of a ring group.
13 phones altogether. Periodically, mostly under heavy volume, but occasionally with only one call, the phones will drop active calls and display "Requesting Configuration"
The phones are each configured with 5 identical lines/registrations, and one Intercom registration.
Has anybody experienced this before, or know what might cause a SIP loaded phone to suddenly drop and Request Config?

Sorry for being late.
Actually i solved the problem about week ago. It was a black hole in the packets path. actually it was an MTU configuration needed to be edited to solve the issue. below the details:
1- GW sends SIP INVITE message successfully to CVP
2- CVP replies successfully with ACK
3- CVP should be sending a SIP INVITE to the GW (which includes the VRU label+corr ID)
4- GW proceeds then to initialize the vxml services and starts vxml part
after checking debugs and outputs from "debug ccsip messages", i noticed that message number 3 is never received by the GW. So i used wireshark on CVP to check if the message is being sent, and yes the message was sent successfully using 2 frames (fragmantation is there, as the whole packet is more than 1900 byte size), but fragmantation was done to 1500+400 from CVP, which should be passing though our network with no problems
I ran more debugs and logging on the routers in the path, and then i decided to use the hero command (not recommended to use ) "debug ip packet" on the voice GW, and here i found that the GW received only one frame with size 280 byte and in the packet detail the fragmantation offset is about 1620!!
I understood then that the problem was in the middle, in Cisco ASR1002 which probably reframed the packets according to its MTU configured on its uplink interface, so i decreased its MTU a little, and voila, the problem was solved (packet received correctly)

    Under heavy loading, our WLS 6.0 SP2 will be not be responding to client requests
    after some time, say, 1 hour. From the administration console, the request throughput
    is 0 while request waiting accumulates to over 1,000. Even the clients stop making
    request to the server, the request waiting will not drop. It seems that WLS blocked
    on some threads and unable to serve the requests (see attached thread dump for

    are obtained through datasource. And the connection is closed properly in finally

    Moreover, the application is originally running on WLS 4.51 but no problem is

    It appears that some threads were possibly blocked at some jDriver calls
    initially (ExecuteThread 0,10,15,23 of the default thread pool). WLS JTA
    subsequently timed out and rolled back the transactions asynchronously. The
    first rollback attempt was blocked at the jDriver level (ExecuteThread 18 of
    the default thread pool). Each subsequent rollback retry blocks an
    additional execute thread (due to a JTA bug that is fixed in WLS 6.1, but
    not 6.0 SPs) - ExecuteThread 1-9,11-26 of the default thread pool.
    Eventually, the server ran out of execute threads and became unresponsive.
    It is unclear that whether the initial blocking of threads by the jDriver is
    a jDriver issue or an application issue. Please report to BEA support at
    [email protected] for further assistance.

  • Command Execution fails only under heavy load and JPA cache store.

    I have a servlet that simply creates a simple POJO puts in the cache and then fires off a command that does additional formatting to the POJO.
    With JDBC cachestore I have no problem. It works fine.
    With JPA I get the bellow exception under heavy load only. I.e: If I send one-two requests. Everything works fine and my data is present in the database after 30 second write-behind. Once I bump up to 200 users I get the exception.
    I figure I'm running out of memory on the cache because of JPA enitites take more resources?

    Done look at the original thread logs are below... I'm thinking that the key is no longer in the cache at the point the processor fires?
    I can also assure you that there is only to instance of coherence running
    1- The actual cache server node
    2- The client, set to localstorage = false
    I ensure the cache server starts and then I start the client.

  • Client timing out under heavy stress conditions

    I am testing a web application deployed on SunONE aplication server 7 , beta installed on windows 2000 box. The machine is a 4 CPU 1.80 Ghz pentium box with 512 Mb ram. It seems that under heavy load the client does not get back response within the specified time .
    Are there any parameters which I need to tune , which might improve performance ? The current client creates 500 threads and each thread keeps sending a series of requests. I tried increasing the max simultaneous requests for the HTTP server, but hasnot made much difference. Any help or reference is appreaicted. IS there a way I can force the application server to create one thread correspond to each request from the client ?

    Hello
    1) The web app is JSP based portal , which sends requests to another server using SOAP as a protocol.
    2) The test client in this case , has been developed by us, which just sends requests to the using simple urls . In other words the client simulates a user accessing a JSP page, and requesting information.
    3) The request being sent by the client , are to get the data stored on the Back end server. Each request has a specified timeout , configurbel using the web.xml file. In this case we have specified a very large value 0f about 3 hours ( which should be sufficient in most cases ). If the client does not get back the data within the specified time there are two causes
    1) The request has not been sent to the back end server
    2) The Back end server has not responded within the specified time
    But on comparing the CPU usages, the back end server seems to be almost idle. whereas the Application server is consuming close to 100% CPU continuously.

  • RV016 incomming sip-requests filtering

    Good day,
    i have a trouble setting up Cisco RV016 router to correctly handle SIP requests.
    Here what i have:
    LAN - 10.1.0.0/24
    10.1.0.1 - LAN IP of RV016
    10.1.0.2 - IP on NIC of software IP-PBX "3CX Phone SYSTEM"
    RV016 have two WAN interfaces configured, to work with different ISP's.
    I also have an VoIP service provider somewhere throught the internet, who is handlling both incomming and outgoing calls.
    In order for incomming VoIP-calls to work correctly, i made some port-forwarding rules:
    SIP -  all incomming connections to WAN interface and destination port 5060 are translated to the 10.1.0.2
    RTP - all incommming connections to WAN interface, and destination ports 9000-9015 are translated to the 10.1.0.2
    It works fine, but with one very unpleasant fact - everybody from the internet can send SIP-register requests to my IP-PBX, so in a short time i have non-stop "register" attempts from different IP's. I tried to make some Firewall Access rules, but RV016 just ignores them, when Port-Forwarding rule is applied.
    In previous solution i used, there was the simple possibility to make rule to allow incoming connection on WAN port just from the single source IP-address, but, sadly, RV016 doesn't have such a feature.
    Here what is the question:
    What should i do? I can't leave the situation as it is, but i really don't want to change the router.
    Can someone please help me with advice?

    Here is an example showing how to add access rules on top of a port forwarding rule.
    When an Access Rule is  defined on top of a port forwarding rule (e.g. SSH service), you want to  first add a Deny rule to deny all IP addresses coming from the WAN side  and then add an Allow rule to allow specific IP address entering from  the WAN side.

    Deny      SSH       WAN1     Any                 [private address]

    You definitely bring up good point. Here my concerns:
    1) Even if I don't cache my JNDI lookups, I expect subsequent local lookups
    of an already-found object to not fail!
    2) If indeed JNDI lookup in 6.1/7.0 is now more expensive than it was in
    5.1, shouldn't the local caching be done by a WL proxy to Context? Why give
    the onus to the developer?

  • Confused by basic SIP Trunk configuration.

    I've went through a few basic SIP trunk configurations and Youtube videos the last couple days but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
    I've set up H323 and MGCP no problem, but I can't figure out the SIP trunk set up. I'm guessing there are some concepts I'm not understanding yet.
    I've got a CUCM lab set up. A 2851 PSTN Simulator, 2851 H323 Gateway at the Main site with a 9.0 CUCM setup in that site and a Branch site that I'm trying to set up as a SIP trunk to connect two phones.
    CUCM is on the 192.168.5.x/24 subnet. 172.16.0.x/24 is the subnet connecting the serial(internet) cable between the two gateways in which I'm trying to establish the trunk between.
    The Branch phones are still registering with the CUCM at the main site. The Route Pattern is looking to the Branch Route List which has the SIP Trunk listed. I'm just getting a fast busy when trying to place a call from the branch site to the main site.
    The most frustrating thing I'm not understanding, is that the debug ccsip and call debugs on my SIP Branch gateway shows absolutely nothing.  I've tried registering the branch phones with the SIP Trunk, but stopped when I figured that shouldn't be necessary.
    If someone can make some sense of this, I'd truly appreciate it!

    I do have a direct IP connection, but I want to set up a SIP trunk and use it just to know how to do it before I do it in production. 
    I did end up deleting the phones from CUCM so they can register with the 2851 CME that I'm setting up as a SIP trunk. So it is registering there, and I set the allow connections and bind sip commands.
    I am now getting Debugs and calls from the SIP Trunk router going to CUCM, but the error message is No Codec, and I Get the fast busy after the call rings on the CUCM Main Site side. So looks like the negotiation is failing. Here is my CLI for the SIP Trunk now after the changes have been made and phones registered to the SIP Branch site as well as the Debug when I tried to place a call to extension "5000":

  • Broken TCP stack in latest kernel when under heavy load

    I'm running an Arch box with a decent amount of HTTP traffic. After upgrading to the latest kernel I've seen that packets are send from the wrong source and destination address. This only applies during heavy load (100+ requests per second). tcpdump shows the following:

    Source and destination ports are correctly set. Wireshark shows the correct HTML inside the packets that are returned to 0.0.0.0. The web server log also looks normal; the correct IP address is displayed and logged as a successful request.
    When dropping incomming traffic on port 80 on eth0 everything works as expected (when requesting the server on eth1, which otherwise fails).
    I'm running on "Linux srv 3.0-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Oct 19 12:14:48 UTC 2011 i686" which is the latest kernel in the repos. When booting the fallback image this problem does not exist, all packets are correctly addressed no matter how much load I put on the server.
    Does anyone else have this problem?

    Did a full reinstall of Arch on another machine and the problem still persist. Tried with Apache and Nginx, same behaviour as with Lighttpd. Could anyone else using an arch box under heavy load see if there's activity from 0.0.0.0?

  • Session bleed under heavy load...any suggestions?

    hello.
    i'm working on an application that has user sensitive data and we are seeing session bleed under heavy load (ie users reporting seeing other users data, error reports with missing session values, things along thoes lines).  the app itself is typical stuff; a user logs in, they see information specific to their user account and do things with it.  some of that information comes from the session.  this all seems to work fine under normal load (100 or less users), or with a few users testing, but fails under heavy load (1000+ concurrent users).  we cannot reporoduce it locally, nor can we see it when we log into the system ourselves and click around during peak load times.
    here is some more detail.  as i mentioned, we are storing certain user informaiton in the session.  we use an exclusive lock of the session scope to write that info, and a readonly lock of the session scope to read it (i am quadruple checking this now).  this app is running in a multi-instance clustered environment (all on the same server).  CF8 with IIS.  we are using j2ee session management, with sticky sessions and session  replication on.  we were seeing the session bleed before the clustering was introduced however...
    one caveat is that a huge number of our users come from behind a proxy  system, meaning they all have the same IP.  i did some searching on this, but could not find any definitive information that it would create a problem with session variables.
    i was wondering if anyone else had seen this kind of problem and/or had any suggestions in dealing with it?

    the jury is still out to a degree, but i think we've identified the culprit(s) of our session bleed for anyone interested.  it boiled down to two problems.
    1.  var scoping issues.  unfortunately this was a fairly old application, written before we strictly employed best pracitices on var scoping variables within functions in all our cfc's.  we've fixed the bad code and our session bleed problems seemed to have stopped.  there is a great utility for checking code for var scoping problems available at: http://varscoper.riaforge.org/
    2.  a misunderstanding of how cflock with a timeout setting (and no throw on error)  behaves.  aside from session bleed, it turned out we had another issue in there, which was expected session values missing all together.  the crux of the problem is that we had set our cflock read/write timeout's to 30 seconds.  under the extremely heavy load, requests were routinely exceeding those timeout thresholds.  the locks were not set to throw on error, so when the timeout threshold was exceeded, the code within the lock ended up just being skipped.  this was leading to missing data in the session. temporarily we've simply increased the timeout setting to a large number, which has fixed our problem.  eventually we'll set these locks to throw on error and handle the exception in a more graceful manner.

  • Can't receive the CANCEL of SIP request through MSPL routing application on Lync

    We have written an application of routing sip messages with MSPL script. It works well except the two things below:
    It never receives the CANCEL sip request, e.g. when a caller hangs up the call while it is ringing on a lync client;
    It receives nothing for a internal direct call between two internal Lync clients, e.g., one internal Lync client calls the other.
    In the manifest file, we have tried with ‘methodName=”ALL”’ or any specific method name, but can’t figure these two issues.
    Does anyone know why and how to resolve them?

    Under heavy load conditions, the jsp include directive's flush attribute which is set to true gives java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException
    A similar bug 6295722 had been reported earlier. But solution to this is not present. Can you please help in resolving this issue. Is this a known issue?

    Format objects, like SimpleDateFormat, are generally not thread-safe. This almost looks like a case where one is being used concurrently and it's causing a problem. Take gimbal2's suggestion and contact support for your app server.

    Just did some quick searching and came up with a link to JServUtils.java source code (not sure what version you've got or where the "real" code lives withing Apache):

    You can see on line 78 that a static SimpleDateFormat field exists. You can also see it being used in the encodeCookie method on lines 103 and 111 without synchronization.

  • SATA Drives - Opposite Configuration under Windows XP

    I have 2 HDDs - 160GB and 80GB.
    I plug 160GB into SATA 1 and 80GB into SATA 2 on motherboard (MSI 865PE Neo2-PLS).
    In BIOS, 160GB is "Primary IDE" and 80GB is "Secondary IDE".
    I installed Windows XP SP2 in 160GB. 80GB remains plugged in SATA 2.
    In Windows under "Disk Management" (in Control Panel), my 80GB was configured as Disk 0 (marked "Acitve") and 160GB was Disk 1 (even though 160GB contains the XP System files).
    (Q1) How do I re-configure this to 160GB as Disk 0 and 80GB as Disk 1 under Windows?
    (Q2) Are my BIOS settings wrong?

  • White Balancing pictures under heavy blue lighting

    I am looking at LightRoom to process RAW images from my D3100.  I'll be shooting my reef aquarium which is under heavy blue lighting (about 450nm).  I can balance the pictures in Capture NX2, however in Lightroom the settings are maxed when using the dropper against an 18% grey card and the picture is not completely balanced.
    any suggestions on how I can balance beyond the max of the sliders, or alternatives to balancing?
    here is an old picture of the first day I got the lights and was learning the new camera -  pre (JPG version from shooting RAW+JPG) and post balance on the RAW picture done in NX2:

    Just a couple of thoughts:
    1. Marine Aquarium lighting (particularly reef-friendly lighting systems) doesn't always broadcast a full spectrum of light.  In the same way, gymnasium sodium vapor lights do not broadcast all the colors of the continuous spectrum. In less-than-full spectrum lighting it can be nearly impossible to white balance as you are missing key color components.
    2. Water absorbs different colors of light at different rates. What is balanced at the top of an aquarium may be deficient at the bottom of an aquarium. It is possible to have a graduated differential in your white balance in a single shot if you cover a sufficient range of depth. As you go deeper in the tank, the ambient lights (fluorescents and/or tungsten) start to become significant to the overhead aquaria lights. 
    Neither of those solves your issue today but it should suggest that you might have to live with these limitations when photographing aquarium where you cannot provide your own light.

    The stack trace i displayed here states that oracle jdbc driver has found the connection to be closed, interrupted etc.
    Application behaves perfectly under normal load but blows up as soon as we reach 3000 concurrent sessions. No firewall is breaking connections, the select query that we observe this behavior for is part of a larger workflow that write data, update some, delete some as well in different tables. Then we see above stack trace for the select query.
    I am trying to explore possible options to investigate. One i mentioned is related to Solaris file descriptors. Could it be database it self?
    Any possible course of action for investigation? Help is much appreciated.
    Oracle errors get reported with error code & message; like ORA-01555 Snapshot Too Old; which is not present in your post.
    You indicated that Connection Pooling is used.
    Is there some (artificial) limit within the application that falls off the cliff at 3000 sessions?
    Oracle does not know or care about the "flavor" of client connection. It treats jdbc the same as OCI or ODBC connections.
    Is OS limited to fixed number of open file handles?
