7D Mark II camera won't turn on!

Hello, I just bought a Canon 7D Mark II been using it for about a month. Yesterday I was filming and taking pictures and I had put the camera down for a second and as I looked down at it I noticed an error message with the yellow Caution sign "!". As I brought it up to read it it disappeared and my camera turned off. I tried to turn it on and i seen real quick at the top screen it said err, assuming that meant error. turned it off and on again and nothing. unresponsive! I changed the batteries, changed the SD cards, changed lenses. tried plugging it into my computer... nothing. If someone could please help I would appreciate it! I have lots of work Monday!! Thanks!

Oh boy.... Not sure if I can help and only just saw your post.
I don't have a 7DII (yet),  so can only suggest things that have cleared up similar problems with other models.
The most obvious thing you have probably already tried... Are you certain the batteries are adwquately and properly charged? During first few uses, batteries may not take a full charge and give expected number of shots. I've also seen chargers not work properly, though that's pretty rare.
Do you have a battery grip on the camera? If so, try removing and reinstalling it. Sometimes I've had a grip get slighly loose and the camera shut down suddenly from lack of any power.
Not sure if the 7DII's grip has an off/on switch, but some of the other battery grips I've used have had one that was easily bumped to the off position, or even in-between the off and on positions, turing the camera off. That's something else to check, if using a grip and it has a power switch.
Have you tried a "reboot"? This involves removing all the batteries, turning the camera on and pressing the shutter release button once (won't power up or fire the shutter, this is just to drain all remaining power in the camera). Then turn it off, put batteries back in and turn back on. If it rebooted properly, you should need to reset the date/time. If not, you may need to leave the batteries out for a longer time. This can clear unknown problems, much as rebooting a computer will do. It likely will mean most or all settings are returned to their defaults, though... so be sure to check anything you had set.
I just looked to see if the 7DII has a user removeable date/time battery and it doesn't appear to. If that's the case, you may not be able to do the "reboot" (aka "hard reset") I described. This is because the cameras without user-removeable button batteries have a semi-permanent battery serving the same purpose, internal and on one of the circuits. These are recharged by the main/rechargeable LP-E6 battery(ies) and provide backup to retain settings, date/time for about 3 months.
Finally check that the electronic contacts lens to camera and the power contacts for batteries are all clean and unobstructed.
Hope this helps! Keep us posted.

  • HT6114 Camera Won't Turn Off

Just downloaded the OS X Mavericks v10.9.2 update and now the camera won't turn off!  (green light is on constantly) and FaceTime still doesn't not connect. FaceTime says camera is not available, even though now the green light is on all the time. Any Suggestions?  Have restarted twice with no luck.

This procedure may show which program is using the camera. It makes no changes, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    sudo lsof -Fc +D /L*/Cor*/*/*/AppleCamera.plugin | sed '2!d' | cut -c2- | pbcopy
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting. You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Confirm. You don't need to post the warning.
If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Log in as one and start over.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered.
The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produced no output, the Clipboard will be empty. Paste into a reply to this message.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

  • HT1414 my reverse image camera won't turn

I just paid $170 to have my screen replaced after I dropped it and now my camera won't turn to let me take selfies.  When I press that button in the corner, it goes from having an image of what the phone was pointing at to a blurry one and it won't change back even after I press the button to at least take a picture the other way.  I have to close the application and open it a few times before I can get it back to at least letting me take the picture going forwards.
    What to do?

Sounds like a bad display screen. Try this first to make sure:
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Then reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
If this doesn't work, back up and restore via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a new device and test. If the problem is solved, there is some kind of corruption in your backup file or maybe it's one of your apps causing problems. If it continues, take it to an Apple Store for evaluation of a possible hardware problem. I have the same problem.

  • The light next to my camera won't turn off , how do I get it off ?

The flash for my camera won't turn off and stays on all the time , how do I turn it off?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • Lumia 920 Camera won't turn on after taking out of...

Hi everyone! I have a problem with my lumia 920. Everytime I take it out of my jeans pocket, the camera won't turn on (from the side button or camera app). It'll open and show camera icons that i can't touch and then just exit out of the app. I usually have to reboot the phone (sometimes twice) and then the camera will work. Has anybody ran into this problem? I haven't reset the phone, but I don't want to because I have a lot of apps and data I don't want to lose. What should I do? Also, everytime I reboot the phone, my volume goes to 19 instead of staying at previous 30. Is this common with all windows phone? Please and thanks!

Yes I tried that and no luck. Now the camera doesn't work even after 3 reboots. I did the full reset on the phone and the phone got stuck on the spinning gears so i had to unbrick it and now I'm back and the windows start screen and the camera works. It's only a matter of time. I might have to get ANOTHER replacement device

  • Satellite A505-S6973 Web Cam won't turn off

I recently signed up for Google Chat with the option to use the Video Chat feature.  Ever since I can't get the web cam to turn off, even when I'm not even logged on the Internet!  I don't like having the little light shining in my face every time I turn on the computer.
How can I turn off the camera when I'm not using it?

If you can get it to boot up again, I'd suggest doing a restore to out-of-box state to see if you have a hardware issue or software.  If after restoring it to out-of-box state you are still experiencing problems, it is likely hardware failure (i.e., cpu, hdd, motherboard, etc.).

  • N82 Camera won't turn on.

After using the phone for a year now the camera suddenly will not turn non when I hit the switch on the back of the phone. Any idea what can be wrong, or does it need a repair?
    Maria

I presume when you say 'hit the switch' you mean, open the lens cap using the slider next to it.
As far as I am aware, the slider switch is the only way of starting the camera.
There is a camera listed within the applications but on my N82, this starts up the secondary camera above the screen.

  • E72 camera won't turn on.

Whenever I press the camera key, the screen just refreshs itself, and the camera doesn't start.
I have tried resetting it, but no change.
    Any ideas?

Thanks - I tried that, but no luck. Also tried a hard reset.
Looks like I just got unlucky, and now have to go through the hassle of returning my shiny new toy..

  • White iPhone 4 camera flas won't turn off

I have the white iPhone 4 and the flash on the camera won't turn off. It comes on randomly and then just turns off. Tried to soft and hard reset as well as restore. I thought it was an app but still no avail.

Have you tried resetting the phone?
-hold the sleep/wake button and home button simultaneously until the display goes black and the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't work, try updating the phone. If the issue is malfunctioning software this may fix it.

  • IMac won't turn on. Only a clicking sound and a grey folder with flashing question mark.

iMac won't turn on. Only a clicking sound and a grey folder with flashing question mark.
    Help.

Your iMac is actually turning ON as proven by the grey folder with the flashing question mark.
The flashing question mark indicates that your system is unable to find a bootable volume. The clicking sound that you hear is probably coming from your hard drive while it tries to recalibrate. I suspect your hard drive has failed.
What model imac do you have? If it's under warranty I suggest taking it in for service. Hopefully you've been maintaining a regular backup of your data as all users should. I lost my data once and it was a valuable lesson. I back up regularily now.
If your iMac came with install disks then you can boot from them, choose your language when asked, then pull down the Utilities menu to launch the Disk Utility application. The Disk Utility application will allow you to verify whether your hard drive has an issue. Usually a clicking sound, assuming it's coming from the hard drive, is a sign of a bad hard drive.
If your system has Lion installed then you can hold down the Command and R keys when you restart the system, then launch the Disk Utility application from the menu that appears.

  • My bb 9380 won't turn on while the screen shows one battery sign with red cross mark ( not charging sign )

my bb 9380 won't turn on while the screen shows one battery sign with red cross mark ( not charging sign ), i think the battery drained and switch it for charging but it will show only not charging sign . i bought this phone before 9 months, whats the solution for this ?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

my macair won't turn on. when I try to turn it on, the white screen appears. But instead of the apple logo, there is a flashing folder that has a question mark on it. how do i fix this?

    Try this.
    Erase and Reinstall OS X
Note: This will delete all data on the disk. Back up important files before continuing.
Erasing and then reinstalling OS X can give you a fresh start, making your computer exactly as it was whenever you received it from Apple. This can solve various problems such as corrupt system files.
Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…
Select Shut Down or allow the computer to shut down automatically.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter into a power source and then connect it to your Mac if you have not already done so.
Press the Power Button to turn on the computer.
Press and hold both the R and Command (⌘) keys on the keyboard until the Recovery partition loads.
Select Disk Utility and then choose Continue.
Select your startup disk (Macintosh HD by default) from the left.
    Select the Erase tab.
Choose the Format pop-up menu and choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled), enter a name for your disk, and then click Erase.
After the disk is erased, choose Disk Utility > Quit Disk Utility.
Select Reinstall OS X and then choose Continue.
    Follow the instructions.
I hope I solved your question.
    Austin
