7D Mark II Exposure Level Indicator missing in Manual Mode

Hi guys
I just put my hand on the long awaited Canon7d mark ii; I was all excited up until I found out that there was no level indicator (horizontal) as it should be, on Manual mode. Weird thing is, all the other modes have the indicator illuminated except in Manual mode, which I believe is the mode whith the greatest need for it. To make matters worse, the vertical level indicator is far off to the right, and not very bright as well. C'mon Canon, you have a great product, but seriously!

Firmware won't fix it.
And "the cop out or excuse" (nice - let's call it the reason) is that this is how it's done in the 1D-x and earlier pro bodies - and if it's good enough for pros, we should be able to adjust, eh?
Took me about ten seconds.
and I soon to notice how anoying this is for many photographers,
Says who? You and one other guy on an under-used forum which is self-selecting for complaints?

  • Green level indicator no longer works in soundvol.exe

    Hi ,
I'm trying to screen capture a game for reporting, but the sound recorder says it has -127 db level set.
The windows soundvol.exe mixer no longer shows the green level indicator either.
The two things I have done recently is ...
    1. installed a Microsoft cordless 800 mouse and key board( I uninstalled the microsoft keyboard and mouse center but it made no difference).
    2. Upgraded the System drive to a SSD drive.
The sound volume seems to be working fine, but I can't capture the speakers output anymore and the level indicators are non existent in the sound mixer app.
Any ideas on what's going on would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards
    Bernhard

In Operations Manager I open the Service Level View and there are 3 exclamation marks visible for some devices. I acknowledged all alerts & events and they are already cleared now, but I'd like to know if I can get rid of the exclamation marks in Service Level View too. Is this possible?

I have a dumb basic question which is sort of related to your shambles comment, which I don't deny is true.
I am confused about whether style.css files get affiliated with each separate HTML page or whether there is just one style.css file that is affiliated with all my HTML pages. If they are separate CSS files, how do I separate each style.css file?

  • EOS 5D mark 3 exposure metering problem

Today, I got a problem with my 5D mark 3. I was using my 5D mark 3 and speedlite on Camera. After finished shooting, I took off the flash from the camera and shot it in Program mode (P) without flash, and auto ISO setting. I found out that my camera's exposure meter is getting wrong. The result image is too much underexposed even the metre show the exposure value 0. I changed the setting to Aperture Priority mode (Av), I still have the same problem. Then I tried the Shutter Priority mode (Tv), I still have the same problem, so I tried to shoot with Manual mode and I found out that I need to shot in five stop over to see the image. In other settings, Shutter speed is getting to high (or) the aperture is too narrow for the low light condition even when the ISO is 100.
Then I tried to shoot it while LCD is on. The exposure meter reading is correct and get the right exposure. No problem at all. But when I shoot while LCD is off, I got the problem again. Too much under exposed. I tried to shoot with flash. The result is OK.
I think my camera is still thinking that it's attached with the flash, but I don't know how to solve the problem. I tried to reset all the setting but I still got the problem. I couldn't find any post for that problem on internet (may be I don't know how to find).
Can anyone help me how to solve that problem ?
    Thanks & Regards
    Zeal

Thanks for posting those images with EXIF data intact.
I recommend you contact Canon service to arrange for repair.  Your "meter" believes you are receiving an extreme or possibly infinite amount of light and isn't just metering high (and underexposing by a stop or two.)
    Here's why:
Your first shot is a "manual" exposure.
    You used:
    Manual
    1/12 sec
    f/4
    ISO 10000
You would have to pick all of these settings.
Your second shot used Aperture priority.  This means you get to pick the aperture, the camera will pick the shutter speed.
    Aperture priority
1/8192 sec <- camera picked this value
f/4 <- you picked this value.
    ISO 10000
As you can see, the camera pixed the fastest shutter speed possible.  I suspect it would have chosen an even faster speed if only it were possible.... but 1/8192 is the limit for that camera.
Your third shot used shutter priority.
    Shutter priority
1/21 sec <- you picked (you probably picked 1/20th but it got rounded by the EXIF data)
f/22 <- camera picked this... but note the high f-stop value.    That's the smallest available aperture on the lens.
    ISO 10000
As you can see here, the camera tried to constrain the light as much as possible by setting the smallest aperture opening (highest f-stop value) the lens can provide.
And that brings us to your final example... Program AE
    Program
1/8192 sec <- camera picked this value
f/22 <- camera picked this value too
    ISO 10000
As you can see... everytime you give the camera control over the setting... it does everything it can do to cut the light.
This is not merely an example of exposure compensation being a stop or two below standard... your camera thinks it needs to do everything it can to reduce the light.  It's as though the meter believes it is getting an infinite amount of light.
This is not a camera setting we can "adjust" (we can control the meter within a few stops).  This is an issue which would need professional repair.

  • Setting a fixed and consistent exposure level with merge to HDR Pro?

I do panoramas with sets of bracketed HDR images.  From LR I select my stack and then merge to HDR pro in CC.  CC then produces a screen with a white point preview slider or the option to tone in ACR.  Since I want to tone in LR I have tried to set the white point consistently for each HDR output in the panorama set, but I cannot get consistent exposure levels.  I then try to adjust them all the same in LR, but sometimes differences result in undesirable effects in the panorama stitched output.
How can I get a 32bit HDR from PS CC back to LR and have each stack come back in with exactly the same exposure without me trying to guess with a slider?
I task all the images for the panorama with identical settings.  Same brackets, fstop , shutter speed, ISO, etc.  I should be able to get them all processed into 32bit HDRs and looking the same without manual adjustment guesses.
    Thanks.

I'll tell you my workflow for panoramas such as this. Starting from bracketed stacks of images.
    1. I select all images, go into Develop and turn on auto-sync. Turn on "Remove Chromatic Aberration". Do not turn on "Enable Profile Corrections". Set a custom white balance to make sure all images are WB'ed the same and optimize sharpening and noise reduction. Basically you want all images to be developed exactly the same and fairly conservative at that.
    2. Export all images to 16-bit tiff in prophotoRGB or adobeRGB (depending on how colorful they are)
    3. At this point one can add a logo to the nadir shot or do it at the end using the workflow I described above.
    4. Load all images into hugin. Generate control points. Optimize positions - first just positions, then positions and view. Level the panorama in the GL preview and make sure the projection is set to equirectangular and the view to 360x180, then optimize view, barrel and positions and finally "everything without translation". During all these steps remove errant control points by going into the control point list and deleting the ones with the largest deviation, which are usually bad control points on clouds or other moving things. Also make sure the pano stays correctly leveled.
    5. Mask the tripod out of the images that have it in them using the mask tools in hugin. Mask feet and stuff out of the nadir shot.
    6. Do a photometric optimization with high dynamic range, fixed exposure.
    7. Go to stitcher, set the optimum canvas size, uncheck "exposure corrected, low dynamic range", Check A. "exposure fused from any arrangement", B. "High dynamic range->tiff", or C. "blended layers of similar exposure, without exposure correction" depending on what you want to do.
    8. Stitch
If you did A. You will get a tone mapped image that you can work up further in Lightroom or Photoshop. That image will be tone mapped respecting the wraparound on all sides so it won't have weird seams in a spherical projection. If you did B. you get a 32-bit tiff that will work great in Lightroom and as long as you don't use highlights, shadows, clarity and such will remain good. If you did C. you can load the multiple panorama layers you get into a HDR Pro in Photoshop, and load that into Lightroom.

  • SmartView - Line ID - Level Indicator Please HELP

Im looking to create some flexibility in(excel) my smartview reports that allow the user to see the upper most level or lower level. They wont have Smartview access so need to use excel's functionality.
What I want to do is have a line Id that distinquishes between a low level and high level. And then use Excel subtotaling features to display the way my customers want it displayed.
Need level indicator in the report like I show below that I can utilize in excel. Does smartview have a setting that will show the level indicator..
    Example
    Line ID Account Amount
    1 123(Salary) $500
    1 456(Bonus) $500
    2 Subtotal $1000
    Thx

So, Hyperion doesn't have level ID's that you can use in Smartview to distinguish the different detail levels?? The weird thing is that it allows you to select what level of detail you want to see so you would think
it would have to have an ID to deselect certain levels...
    thanks

  • Customizing Fill Level Indicator

    Hi!
I want to customize a fill level indicator (tank). I´m not very experienced with LabView.
The main problem is, that I don´t know if it is possible to create an indicator with a curved upper part.
The attached picture shows an example, how I want the indicator look like. The left side should be the indicator,
from the lower bar to the upper bar. The normal bar seperates the left side and the right side.
Later the right side should also be an indicator if it is possible.
Is it possible to form  the upper part of the tank like shown on the picutre and if it is, how can I realize it.
If not, I thought about creating an array or ring with about 100 pictures, each assigned to a certain fill level.
Is it a good idea or is it too complex?
Are there any other ways to solve the problem?
    Thanks a lot,
    Martin

The difficulty is to find an application able to manage transparency. On Macintosh, it's fairly easy, but I had some difficulties with Windows. Search for "Import transparent picture" on this forum.
The attached vi is an example of what can be done : create a picture with a transparent part corresponding to the tank shape. Paste this picture on your front panel, above a wide slider, and you are done.
I'm not sure that my example will look good on a window machine, there may be white zones where I applied transparency. Works fine on my Macintosh.

  • Officejet J6415 ink level indicator

    Hi,
I had a J6413 which was getting the "scanner failure" message. Took it in for repairs and got a J6415 as an exchange unit.
The problem now with the J6415 is that the ink level indicators on the control panel or via the HP Device Manager (on Mac) does not show the correct levels.
The black cartridge was almost empty. When I inserted it, it showed as full on the control panel and via the device manager software. After doing some research and contacting HP Support, I did a partial reset. This caused the ink level indicator on the control panel to show as a "?", for color and black. Both levels then appear as empty via Device Manager. A full reset changes the levels to full again, on both the control panel and Device Manager software.
Any ideas? As a last resort, I will take the printer back, but that leaves me without a printer until it gets repaired. Been trying to find a solution before having to take the printer back. The person I spoke to at HP Support suggested that I should use the printer as is, and maybe the ink levels will show correctly after a while. Doubt this will change anything.
Using the printer showing the "?" now. Tried partial resets (# & 3), full resets (# & 6), and the power cycles, but no luck. The levels have changed between full and the "?".
Anybody else experienced the same, and more importantly found a solution, other than taking it back for repairs?
    Thanks:-)

Just configure your printer again.Uninstall your driver and then again install it.You may be get your solution.

The above would be the folder for the 32 bit Photoshop on a 64 bit Windows system.
This would be where you'd find the 32 bit files on a 32 bit system, or the 64 bit files on a 64 bit system:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Levels
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Presets\Levels

  • MacBook Pro battery level indicator is stuck at 100%

Got this MacBook Pro in January of 2008. Great machine, replaced battery last spring and more recently had some sort of repair done when the screen would not activate. No problems otherwise.  Now all of a sudden my battery level indicator is stuck at 100% regardless of actual battery charge level. The computer will allert me that it needs plugged in immediately or it will go to sleep, but it would be nice to have the indicator working again. Any ideas?
    JG

    If it's a pre-unibody MBP with a removable battery:
    1)  Shut the computer down
    2) Disconnect the Magsafe AC adapter
    3)  Remove the battery
    4)  Hold the power button down for 5-6 seconds
    5)  Reinstall the battery.
    6)  Connect the Magsafe adapter to power and turn the computer back on.
This will reset the System Management Controller.  One of the SMC's functions is reporting of the status and remaining charge of the battery.
