8.0 was great but 8.0.1 is a cpu hog
Installed 8.0 and Leopard at once on a fresh boot disk a while back and was delighted- best performance ever on my g5 2X2
Updated to 8.0.1 and performance has gone bad- can now only run three instanced of Sculpture-
Have trashed prefs, played with settings- but no luck- can no longer work on projects from yesterday that were not even beginning to push performance limits
Am running class compliant audio device (presonus) and no 3rd party plugs
Was so happy and feeling vaguely smug as compared to all those having trouble with L8 and now suddenly I find myself fallen into the same pit...
Any ideas? Can reinstall 8.0, I suppose, but somehow I think I must be missing something...

I'm in the middle of building a new studio, and i was thinking I should
wait to install L8.1 and Kontakt 2 until some of the bugs are fixed
in the OS, Logic and kontakt.
You see, I'm planning to build the basic template that every song I do
for years starts from. So I want to be as cautious as I can possibly be,
that there is no "corruption" at the root.
I did a clean install of X.5, and now I'm just waiting till L8 and Leopard
are updated. You're saying it's totally fine right now? I've been reading
so many complaints,... made me think i should wait till they sort it all out.

I added a couple of notes to my iphone 5s when I got it back in December 13. Any other notes added since only last for a few days then disappear. I just opened the notes app and for a split second the note was there I added 3 days ago then it disappeared. I never had this problem with any other phones and I have had both windows and older iphones. It is getting to be a real pain as the notes are essential when I am abroad which is quite frequent. If it cannot be rectified can anybody recommend a decent 'notes' app that I can buy? maybe somthing similar to the one on the windows phones which comes as standard with them but a great app all the same.

i'm on MAC OS X 10.5.8. Still runs great but now i have no itunes as i've followed this post that covers my first issue. i've followed it correctly to the part of re install the latest version of itunes and i cant.
i've been running logic pro on this mac and i have no issues so i've not upgraded software etc.
i need a way around this problem without having to upgrade the OS if there is one.
does anyone please have a suggestion that doesn't involve spending hundreds of pounds?
i was only trying to get an iphone connected and this article says 10.6.8 or earlier?? it is definately earlier

My Mac mini OS is a 10.6.8 and after paying for Adobe premiere 13 download I realized that my computer needs to be 10.8 or greater.. I thought that I had read that 10.6.8 was enough but I must have been mistaken.. Any suggestions or am I out of luck?

had some old movies from reel to reel on a vcr. i converted these to mp4 format using pinnacle video capture, quality was not great but it was decent enough on my computer. when i placed these on my ipad it was much worse and very choppy. i have handbrake and thought i could maybe change the movie so i could play it on ipad but dont know what dimensions or framerate etc. currently the movie on the computer is in 640 x 480 mpeg 4 aac. thanks derek

What Julianne said at first about re-linking made perfect sense and I followed it easily, had actually already been there. But in my situation now, it didn't have any effect. The directory of folders which had already been added were still just as they were, and the outstanding balance are not in the desired position. And the folders which had been brought in earlier today when I clicked "synchronize folder", were still missing all the metadata.
Maybe this means I need to start over, and I'm fine about doing that that, but I don't know what it takes to accomplish that. I'm concerned now that any changes I make out of guesswork could only make the problem harder to resolve. It just feels to me like something I did at the beginning just wasn't right, and now it's a tangle.
Can you advise?

Could you help me with an app situation? We purchased several codes for Splashtop to install on our iPad 2's. It was working great but now that we upgraded the OS they have disappeared. The codes that we purchased are giving us an error that they have already been used. So far it has only been 2 iPads.
Any solutions?The compiler is highlighting the areas you got wrong, although the error messages are somewhat confusing.
Error 1: NSLog is a function and needs to be called as such, see e.g. the circleArea call on the line above. Functions are called using the function-name with its arguments in paratheses e.g. foo(12, 13).
Error 2: looks like a typo, defining a function is done as function-name(... <arguments> ...) { ... <body> ...}. In your code there is a ";" between the arguments and the body that should not be there, you probably copy pasted it from the forward declaration at the top of the source codde file. -
MacBook Pro 8,1 – Intel Core i5 – 2.23 GHz (early 2011) New with OSX 10.6 – current on all updates.
I successfully installed rEFit. I used Boot Camp to install Win 7. All was great.
Then installed debian 6. Somehow after the debian install and restart (I know this sounds crazy) but I am now reduced to Win 7 only. rEFit is not present when rebooting nor is OSX or debian. Further, I am unable to force the install DVD to launch when rebooting, by holding C, D or F8. The Option key brings me to the grey screen with a padlock. I have attempted the root and local pw- no go. Restart holding D takes me to the windows boot manager. I have attempted several options within the Advanced Options; including – Repair Your computer, safe mode and “last known good config,” All of which did nothing.
I can see all my OSX files within win7. I tried to install the OSX within windows. Ya right, that did nothing..
I only desire to get back to OSX...
What are my options??Yes, you royally hosed up your machine.
You should first try to get your files off, any way you can to a external drive.
Your going to need to hold c and boot from the disk that came with your computer and a couple of screens in under the menu is a option for Disk Utility.
Select your drive and Erase with Security Option Zero, format the drive HFS+ Journaled and when that's finished (about a hour or so) then quit and install OS X from the installer.
I hope this works, but I suspect it won't. Others have hosed their machines trying to use a Linux disk without proper partition formatting too.
Another option might be to use another Mac to c boot off the Snow Leopard disk and install OS X onto a external drive, take that to the problem Mac and try holding option and booting off of it to erase your internal drive.
You could replace the drive.

ipad 4 retina display is slow after iOS 8, also upgrade to iOS 8.0.1 i think and safari is slow, animations are slow, and i can't restore it to iOS 7, there it was great. i mean its like my iphone 4 with iOS 7 in its best days. i hope no to get stuck again, i mean please let me go to the iOS 7)).
Upgraded my ipad4 from ios6 to iOS 8 because the new WSJ app required it. HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!!! I can maybe understand some apps being slower but not Safari or Chrome. Apple must be throttling back the ipad4 processor even more with ios8 to force an upgrade to the next gen iPad whenever it arrives.

I have a iPhone 3GS and my husband has an iPhone 4, both phones are updated. We added iMessage the them both and at first it was great, the messages appear in the text messages under the phone contacts and when I send a text message it will either be a green message or a blue one for (iMessage) depending on the signal. Now when my husband sends a text message to me I don't get them all or some days none. When I send him a text message he gets them from my email address. I cannot send him a standard text anymore my phone only wants to iMessage, so if the signal is not right it just sits there undelivered???
I also have a friend who that we regularly texted each other, for the past 4 months I can receive her texts but she never gets mine? And I have tried countless times, now iv given up trying and I don't use texting to either, but everyone else no problem.You and your husband can share a store account and still have seperate iCloud accounts for your contacts, bookmarks and stuff like that. Click here for instructions to make an apple account without entering a credit card. Make sure you use a different email address for each apple account.
Set up your iPhone/iPad whatever using the new account for iCloud. Then go into settings/store and sign in with your purchasing account, you may need to sign out of the other account. To the best of my knowledge, your household is allowed to share purchased legally, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Once you each have your own devices set to your own accounts you can set them to backup to that account and it will keep all your contacts seperate. -

I have a iPod nano 4 GB (2nd gen.) I have had it for years and up till recently the battery was great on it.
For a few weeks now my battery will die very quickly. I will have it fully charged and within 2 hours it will be dead. I have no applications running, just music. Nothing has changed at how I use it, but the battery just does not hold.
I charged it again last night and listened to music for about 30 min when I checked it, the battery was about dead. I gave it a few min. then it said it was half way charged?
I do not have wi-fi or anything on this...just music.
I also checked to make sure its software was up to date which it is. Can it just be the batterys worn out?
ThanksYes. Your iPod's Lithium ion battery will slowly start to lose its ability to retain full capacity over time. Nothing lasts forever. Sorry.

phone works great but when on a call proximity sensor kicks in turns off the screen. When I pull the phone away from my head screen is still blank. The force hangup/lock is the only way to bring the screen back on.
I purchaged it before one month onl. So i wont understand how it comes. Please help me. I am waiting for you reply."Your face is so ugly, it broke your phone!" Ha ha. Get it? How I was joking there? About your iPhone not working correctly after... <sigh>

I have the original iPhone 5 (the one released before 5C & 5S) and when I updated to iOS 8 everything was working well and it was great! Last night I updated to iOS 8.0.2 and it does the complete opposite of what it was supposed to do! I lost my cellular connection! It keeps saying "Searching..." in the top left hand corner of my phone where my cellular network is supposed to be. What's going on Apple? Why did I lose my cellular connection when the update was supposed to "fix" lost cellular connections for the iPhone 6. If the update was supposed to fix a higher leveled phone then why was my lower leveled phone affected??? I need answers and I need proper help to deal with this ordeal.
I ALSO just updated my brand new iphone 6 to 8.0.2, and I ALSO had my cellular service BRICKED.
All I get on the signal meter is Verizon 1x. Every so often 3G would popup and you could send a text (no calls though) but it's gone in seconds. So I can't send texts or make phone calls.
This phone worked immediately before the update and stopped working immediately after the update.
My neighbor has a iphone 5S. He updated to 8.0.2 lat week and had no problems UNTIL just this morning, when his phone stopped working - no cellular voice or data. He downgraded back to ios 8.0 but his cellular service never came back.
Called verizon - was told there were no service outages and then I got transferred to tech team.
Tech team had do all the Apple troubleshooting steps but nothing more. So they said "take it back."
So this BRAND NEW iPhone 6 phone is BRICKED because of iOS 8.0.2.

I recently updated my iPhone. My update went great, but after updating my wifes, all her pictures and videos were missing. Is there a way to retrieve them?
Was a backup done prior to the update? If so, restore the backup.
As designed, the Camera Roll on the iPhone is temporary storage. Copy the pictures/videos off to the computer the device normally syncs with then sync the desired pics/vids back to the device via iTunes. -
Got the right cables, sound is great, but TV only shows blue Apple screen
Just got a new Samsung hi-def TV, and went to the Apple store to get HDMI/DVI cabling. All is connected, and sound comes through great - but the picture on the screen is the blue desktop. If I shut the Mac, I get a TV signal telling me to check the cable and/or signal. However, I think the cables are OK because the sound is fine and obviously it sees a visual signal from the Mac or the TV display wouldn't be the blue desktop.
Any ideas? Is there some trick to tell the Mac to display on my TV? Many thanks ~
CollinsTo fill the screen, I believe you have to go into System Preferences and select Displays. With your MB hooked up to your TV, you should see an option as to screen resolution. Select the biggest one and your screen should fill up IF your selection is in Wide Screen Format. At least thats the way my was the one time I viewed a movie from my MB. Beautiful picture by the way!
FWIW, I don't see much advantage in playing movies from a MB unless you have no other method (like a DVD player, Apple TV, etc.) That's the reason I only did this once just to see it work.
