8.1.6 how do you shut off WILDCARD_MAXTERMS

I know you can raise the wildcard_maxterms limit up to 15000 elements but is there a way to shut it off so you can ask very broad wildcard expansions against the dictionary ?

How does one shut off and reboot an I Pad? I think you have to hold button to the right for several or more seconds until a red arrow appears. I am not sure and I want to resume my connection to I tunes store and heard this is the best way for them to get back to me with certain info.

Thanks. I tried every method to reconnect to the I Tunes store since the error was cannot connect and I could not update or download apps, even tho the I Pad worked fine otherwise. When it re booted and re set the I tunes store message popped up and asked me for some credit card and other info. When they got it I was back in business and apps could download as before. I tried every other suggestion online and this was my last chance and it worked great. My router had to be re set the other day by turning it off and then on, and that's when all this started happening. Probably changed the I Tunes setting but I never thought it would affect the IPad in any way since all my othe computers worked just fine.

I am one of the poor unfortnuate masses that have a bad iMac monitor - the one with all the lines going down it. Bad pixels. Sheesh.
I bought a HP 20 external monitor and hooked it up, it's working fine.
QUESTION: Am I able to shut down the main monitor down without affecting the external monitor? If so, how?

There is no way to turn off the iMac's monitor, however there is a way to dim it to black like Dave suggests using Shades.

im getting really pissed off not being able to stop 2 pages from opening when i click on my firefox browser. one page which I want to open up is my yahoo.com page, the other is your new mozilla add ons page. its annoying and im about to stop using Mozilaa because of it. its ridiculous that we can stop it from loading everytime I open my browser. ive tried so many things to stop it. please help and thank you for your time

Do you mean the regular Add-ons page (the one that opens when you press Ctrl+Shift+a) or a page for a specific add-on?
Do you get the unwanted page when you launch a new window (Ctrl+n)?
If so, that can indicate either:
* Your settings list two home pages. These articles will help in clearing that up:
** [[Startup, home page and download settings]]
** [[How to set the home page]]
* One of your add-ons is showing the new page.
If the extra page does NOT appear in a new window, could you test using your Firefox desktop icon a second time without closing Firefox? This should launch a new window.
If THAT new window has the unwanted page, your Firefox shortcut might be hacked. You can check by right-clicking it > Properties > Shotcut tab. The Target for 64-bit Windows 7 should be no more and no less than the following:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
If THAT new window does NOT have the unwanted page, Firefox may be showing a "one time" page and failing to record that it has showed the page, so it keeps doing that one time action at every startup. Have you noticed Firefox having problems remembering any other settings changes? I can't find a place to turn off the option click shortcut that minimizes the last window and option command click that minimizes all of the other windows. Is there a way to do this? They don't show up (or I can't find them) in the Dock Preferences or the Keyboard Shortcuts.

I use Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and that's the zoom shortcut keys with space. If I use another program on my second monitor and go back to that and want to zoom in it minimizes everything else.

This is getting really aggravating. On my iPhone, if i try to type something that isnt a common word, it automatically changes it. For instance, i have the app game Fragger. So i wanted to see a walkthrough of a certain level on youtube. I start up the youtube app and go to search. I type "Fragger" and hit space cause i want to type more, but now the word fragger has changed to "Dragged". This is just 1 case i can remember, it happens all the time. In youtube, the app store, etc etc. I want to type whatever i want, and if i feel like using a mispelled or uncommon word, or non-word, i should be able to. How can i disable the spell checker that keeps switching my words?

settings general keyboard spell checking and auto correction.. turn them off however once there off there off there is no partially on or partially off its either on or off..

First, Double Tap the home button. Then after that slide up the pictures of apps then there closed.

Apparently now Mozilla creates new versions of their browser and email apps every two weeks instead of just creating updates... I'm tired of all of the pop-up requests for these constant installation requests and all the problems that the new version installations create... I just want to use the software and be left alone.
I can't find a way to make Firefox and Thunderbird stop with the pop-up requests for new installations... is there a way to do this or has Mozilla just got it rigged so one can't just use the software without re-installing a new version every two weeks and running in to new plugin issues and missing features every time?
